SPEAKER_00I'm fine. You're sitting there with your fancy new microphone that I don't have yet.
SPEAKER_01I know. They were just well, I thought they were going to be delivered on Friday.
SPEAKER_00Right. They had a little bit of a delay.
SPEAKER_01So they had a little bit of a delay. But we'll get you on for the next maybe it'll sound like shit. No, I don't think it will. I absolutely don't think it will. And also have my I see that.
SPEAKER_00I know it's fantastic. Very technical.
SPEAKER_01So hopefully the sound will be better. And it can only go up from here.
SPEAKER_00But that's what I feel.
SPEAKER_01That's good. Um, how was your day?
SPEAKER_00Uh so far, fairly uneventful. Uh, we went to that store in Fishtown to look for baby gifts, and I was like, the store has no clothing. It had nothing. It had like, I mean, they I they always have like a small consignment check section, which whatever, you're not buying somebody a baby gift, getting them consignment clothes.
SPEAKER_01Wait, the consignment is children's stuff?
SPEAKER_00Yes, it's called the store. It's called Minnow Lane. Okay. And it's this cute little store. We got such cute things last time we went to buy baby gifts there.
SPEAKER_01When did you buy baby gifts there?
SPEAKER_00For the same people who need baby gifts now. That's like the second round of kids. I was like, oh, let's go. They have like quirky, different, you know, not typical.
SPEAKER_01But like the consignment stuff you would buy for your own child, you're saying.
SPEAKER_00Yes. I mean, last time we did actually get one of the kids, this amazing black bomber jacket. It almost reminded me on a baby size of like that bomber jacket Jake had when he was like two. And we got it in the consignment along with some other things because I couldn't resist because it was so cool. But normally you're not buying consignment clothes as a present.
SPEAKER_01Right. Well, we were looking, yeah, I get what you're saying.
SPEAKER_00You know what I mean? Like, yeah, that was a one-off. It was something really like unusual, special, you would, but not just like, oh, a pair of like onesies that were consignment. You're not doing that. Right. Um, so but their clothing selection was like nothing. And like they had like all this summer stuff, and I was like, Well, I'm not buying them summer clothes, like that's kind of stupid. So we were in there for like, I don't know, 15 minutes trying to convince ourselves that there was something, and I was like, this is a bad idea.
SPEAKER_01No other baby place by you, like not around there.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, well, that's and I it's not even there. Used to be one in Northern Liberties. Um you have to go to uh the clothes born yesterday. Yes. Well, I told so Mark was going to do errands, and I was like, go to Born Yesterday.
SPEAKER_01I love that store with a passion. Yeah, apparently is it still there?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. Apparently he was like, I'm well familiar. He's like, I cut one of their kids from my soccer team. I was like, okay, well, I'm sure they're not gonna know if you walk in.
SPEAKER_01Well, I'm not I'm sure that it's not them in there, it's probably like a 12-year-old. 100%.
SPEAKER_00100%. And then Maya was like, go to kin boutique. Kin little mini kin.
SPEAKER_01Oh, they have a little kin.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and I was like, don't go there. That's yeah, very good.
SPEAKER_01I was like, we're gonna save that for family because we don't want to spend a small fortune. Well, born yesterday is a small fortune.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but I think kin is probably even more true.
SPEAKER_01But I remember we bought like a t-shirt there.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, like it's expensive, yeah. And I was like, oh there's actually a store in this is so random and not helpful for us at all. In Tribeca. Mom. I know randomly. I know it's random. I know the store you're talking about. And it is and it is not expensive, and it has terrific. On Greenwich. Greenwich. It's on Greenwich. I know exactly what you're talking about. It's like right by uh it's like right on that little strip, not a strip, but you know what I mean.
SPEAKER_01It's like a street from the city offices, I think.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but anyway, we were because we were there again when I was in New York a couple weeks ago. Not that we went into the baby store.
SPEAKER_01But there's a cute boutique like two doors down, like for people.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, well, that was the place we went into. Exactly. That was uh what the heck's it called? Begins with a G. Anyway. Um so anyway, all that to say, we didn't get any baby clothes on our little foray. So that was a wildly miss of an experience.
SPEAKER_01That was what you set out to do today.
SPEAKER_00That was what I set out to today, and we did not do that. So now they're going to Barnes and Noble, I think, to look for like baby books, which I always think is a tough because you don't know what people have, but I love the idea of it.
SPEAKER_01I like the idea, but I agree, you don't know what people have. And well, they can return them and get whatever books they don't have.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, absolutely. So there's that. And then I did um a Melissa Kim, like 18-minute lower body.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it was good. She was like, I only squat with you, or or uh is that was when she was like, I only lunge when I'm with Kim. Was that that?
SPEAKER_00No, this was just it was just Kim in it. Yeah, and she's obviously at Melissa's house in the Hamptons, I believe. Because I don't know that Kim has that house in the Hamptons. Um and it's just it was definitely more than I thought it was gonna be. And it was yeah, my inner thighs.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's the thing. I'll take a Melissa, and also because I'm like so not, I guess now more I'm like getting back into that group of things, but like when I was pretty heavily lifting, I would do a Melissa and I would be like, holy shit, like this hard hard.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, like we were doing burnouts where you're like in like a sumo squat and you're just like pulsing and then lifting each other.
SPEAKER_01Well, that was what I mean. I was like in the class in the Greta class today when she's doing this with her arms and lifting one and pulsing with one leg and the other. I was like, okay, it's enough. Six minutes per leg is like a long time.
SPEAKER_00I know. Well, when she said we're doing six minutes leg, I was like, oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_01I thought it was a really well that's the thing. And you know how much I love Melissa. But I do think that they probably have to, which is why I like the vibe of Melissa. It's a little bit more like we're just going as we feel. Sometimes it's this, sometimes it's that. Right. My assumption with Peloton is that they probably have to give a lesson plan to someone beforehand.
SPEAKER_00Yes, I'm sure that they do.
SPEAKER_01It just feels planned.
SPEAKER_00Except for a little bit more structured. Although, right, I was gonna say you just said that they were the sculptures.
SPEAKER_01It's not that they're not planned, it's not that they they don't feel like they've planned them out. It just feels a little bit less flowy than it should be. The sculpting.
SPEAKER_00Greta is definitely very she she knows her thing.
SPEAKER_01She obviously yoga on Pilates.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, I think she was. I remember when they announced that she was coming.
SPEAKER_01She sounds literally like she could be teaching like a Bala Bar class at Equinox.
SPEAKER_00Like she has that very good cues. You know what I mean? Like you knew where you were going before you were getting there, like that type of thing.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, she like keeps up with what she's saying very well. Yes, yes. I really liked the class. I think she's good. It was a little yoga fast for me. She was moving fast, like even some of the the counts, which I get you're moving with the music, but they were fast.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. I kind of was like, okay. I mean, there's just a couple things where she was doing. I was like, oh, wait, what the one in the beginning? Yeah, I can't even imagine. I can't do that. It wasn't pretty in the basement.
SPEAKER_01Just say I was like stumbling a little bit. Well, but Peter and I worked out at the same time today. So obviously, like because he's using the big machine, like we can't really both be in there at the same time. It's not quite that big. So I worked out downstairs, like in the living room, and I was like doing it, and Heather was walking out of the room.
SPEAKER_00When do you wait? When do you normally do that? When you're working out together, how do you do that? Or you're you're actually sex, yeah.
SPEAKER_01We just like she kind of leads us in whatever, and we, you know, you rest while the other works and blah blah blah. If we're not doing the same thing in the gym, then we can't really unless I'm like on the bike or on the tread. But we can't both just be like in there using free space.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_01I got it. That makes sense. Um, but I was doing it downstairs and I'm like pulsing my squat or whatever, and like Heather walked by. I was like, she probably thinks I'm insane. Um, but yeah, we went to today because we're having our basement done, which is very exciting. We went to Norman Carpet, which is like whatever, it's like all the carpet places are like the same. I I thought I was making like an economical decision by doing carpet in the basement. Oh, and it's seeming like I'm not.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, well, it depends.
SPEAKER_01Well, I'm getting like, look, it's a basement. I'm not like getting like wool or like sisal rug down there. I'm putting a synthetic rug down there. It's expensive.
SPEAKER_00Well, I think like that type of stuff is expensive now.
SPEAKER_01Apparently so, because I kept telling Peter it's gonna be like $500. It's not gonna be five. It's definitely not gonna be $500.
SPEAKER_00But I mean, so but like putting like a synthetic wood and then like a thorough rug. Right. So then it probably is less expensive, it's just not inexpensive.
SPEAKER_01But I don't I don't even want I don't even want hardwood down there. Like I want a rug.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_01That's that's how I feel basements.
SPEAKER_00I agree with that. I agree with that 100%.
SPEAKER_01It was so funny because we're like picking out stuff like kind of as we're going. Like we already have the paint, we're painting it very dark, and we're doing like a cooling I like like a cozy, cozy makeup. I think it's gonna be too cavey. I think it's gonna be KV in a good way. Okay, all right, whatever. We have like overhead lighting in there, like it's very bright down there, and Peter was like, it's gonna be the perfect podcast studio because you're gonna basically be like grounded by the carpet. So once we get the basement done, we'll figure out how to do it in person.
SPEAKER_00We'll do it, we'll have our own.
SPEAKER_01And that will be our studio. I know. Peter was saying that as I was picking up. I love that. I know. Can't we? We also saw the most gorgeous. So I also want to do a runner, like up our main staircase from our first floor to our second floor.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And I feel like something that Tiny's not gonna well, whatever.
SPEAKER_01Like the wear and tear of it is the wear and tear of it.
SPEAKER_00He also doesn't he doesn't do that with stuff with rugs.
SPEAKER_01Uh he does in the basement, but I also think it's because like his food is down there. Like we have rugs everywhere. He's never like going out the rugs. Got it. But this woman in the store, I'm like showing her what I want, and she goes, Oh, okay. And she like brings me over. She goes, These are all handmade and blah, blah, blah. I was like, I was like, Kate, wow, you really figured me out real fast. Um, so yeah, all right. Well, that was that was good. Yeah, that was fun. Productive aspect of the day. I'm hoping that we get moving on the basement soon, but we're kind of at the mercy of our contractor and his schedule. Right. That makes sense. It'll happen. Um, so yeah, and then yesterday. What did I do yesterday?
SPEAKER_00You went to pick up Tiny.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I went to pick up Tiny. We had a little lesson for him.
SPEAKER_00So is he he you said he was already on the e-collar stuff? Which says on the e-collar when he's there farmed up.

SPEAKER_00But is he now going to be on the e-collar at home? Like, we're not gonna walk him on the e-collar, but like but can you have him on the e-collar like when you're sitting on the porch with Adelais on? We could.
SPEAKER_01Like, we probably won't, because like why? I just put him on the long lead, like it's a tie out, it's not a big deal. But we took him over to Shortridge. Oh, wait, but how does that work?
SPEAKER_00And he ran on the e-collar. What do you mean? I thought it was like, oh, I I don't really understand how what an e-collar is. I was thinking like electric fence.
SPEAKER_01No, it's like a thing that's on his neck, like a little stim thing. And you have a remote in your hand.
SPEAKER_00And you buzz it when you want him to come back?
SPEAKER_01You buzz it basically, you give him the command, you allow him to do it correctly, and if he doesn't do it correctly, you give him a no and a s and a stim, and he should listen. It's really good as attention.
SPEAKER_00We were laughing because we said, like, are they all the things that used to be used have been rebranded? Like instead of a shock. Instead of a shock, it's not a shock. Like I was holding it a uh uh what they used to call the the choke collar, they call it collar collar. Look, let me just say this.
SPEAKER_01Between a shock collar and an e-collar. E-collar is stim, like you know, the stim you get.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, like it's like an electro stim. You get like a little yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01It's just to get his attention, it's not to punish.

SPEAKER_00It's supposed to be. So what happens? You're walking, I want to understand the process. You're walking at short ridge.
SPEAKER_01Okay, and he's sniffing or he sees a dog or he sees a something, and I want his attention. I want him to come back to me. So I say, Tiny, come. He either listens to that or he doesn't, in which case I say, Nope, stim him. See if he I can get his attention, and then I say, come, and he comes. And he doesn't. But the problem is, not the problem, it's it's a good problem to have, but the problem is that if I if he knows he I have a treat, he's listening.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_01Which is great. Yes, but that's what doesn't matter. Like as long as I'm unable to test to get him in a situation where like my treats mean nothing to him, where there's other dogs, where there's a lot of other things so that I can really test if I can actually get his attention. I got it. Okay. So whatever. We'll see. All right, whatever. It was it's good for us to have the tool.
SPEAKER_00Look, the primary reason for doing that was so that he could go to farm dog.
SPEAKER_01So right, and they use like obviously they use it, they use it. But we would like to use it, like we really want to take him to um there's like a run in Gladwin, and I would like to take him there.
SPEAKER_00Right. We took Leo, Leo there. It's really nice.
SPEAKER_01I just like, you know.
SPEAKER_00Although I have to say, I read this article, not to be like whatever. I read this article in the New York Times about like ticks.
SPEAKER_01Oh, well, we put his Sinesta collar on him.
SPEAKER_00You just have to be so careful because it's not even just on the dogs, on people. And they're like, there's this whole new type of thing that's not Lyme called like alpha gas or something like that. The article was terrifying. Well, people saying like ticks are taking over. Ticks are like literally taking over the earth. Oh, they're gonna be they're gonna be the downfall of the human race.
SPEAKER_01Well, are they around because of like our world is burning? Like, why are they here?
SPEAKER_00It's climate change, deforestation, um, you know, they have no suburban sprawl. Right, exactly. And um the deer ticks are not really the worst of it. There's all these other kinds, but like they were literally most of the article, now it was the New York Times, but most of the article was concentrated on talking about how like terrible it is to be in the Hamptons because it's such a like that most of the landscapers.
SPEAKER_01What a uh touch article.
SPEAKER_00Well, just how dangerous. I don't think he was suggesting like, oh, pour us out in the hamptons, but they were like interviewing like landscapers who wear like you're in the woods. Who wear like pantyhose when they're working so that they can't check themselves. So like are you saying they're saying yourself at the end of the day, like you're not fine? Well, I think if you're out there in the woods, you should probably check yourself.
SPEAKER_01But what I'm saying is like if they're wearing pantyhose, like you would assume that every day they go home they check themselves.
SPEAKER_00Like, is it that is it that quick acting that they need to have Yes, because there is a new type of tick with I think the deal is with Lyme, you can be okay. It doesn't get into your system right away, but they do start you on that doxycycline, whatever thing. But this other, and I was like start sort of like didn't concentrate fully on the article starting to get skeeved out. Okay. Um there's this new tick situation where they get into your bloodstream very quickly, and that's the danger is that you don't even have time to like pull it off when you get home. Oh, that's petrifying. And then there's like like at Shelter Island, this woman who's like in charge of like the tick control or whatever the heck it is, she like has her clothing literally like soaked in this like what tick rim, like anti-tick. Yeah, it was like Shelter Island apparently is like the worst place, it's like dangerous, and like they they actually give classes to the residents there to like protect themselves. I mean, it was crazy. Apparently, there's things like this alpha gas thing or whatever, it's a real it's an allergic reaction to a certain type of tick where if you it's so weird, you get the tick bite, you don't realize it, it gets into your system. And then at some point later, and I'm not clear because at that point I was moving quickly through the article again because I was getting so scaved out. You eat meat and you go into anaphylactic shock and you die.
SPEAKER_01Wait, what?
SPEAKER_00I swear to God.
SPEAKER_01These are not things that I want to like know about, talk about. I was reading it yesterday, and Mark was like, Stop reading the article. That's why I don't read things. Like, just very much not why. Like, I'm okay.
SPEAKER_00It was really concerning.
SPEAKER_01I was like, oh my god, I was it was not like even when you were getting all those videos on your Instagram about like how everything is contaminated and you can die from eating blueberries.
SPEAKER_00Like, yeah, that's not on my Instagram.
SPEAKER_01Exactly. That's what I'm saying. Like, that's not on my Instagram. So, like, are is everyone who's not on that algorithm gonna die? Probably not.
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_01The tick thing did freak me out a little bit, but well you know all the more reason not to do any physical activity.

SPEAKER_00Another thing, if you stay inside, you're fine. If you stay inside, uh right, you can do physical activity, you just don't have to go outside and do it, even though it's so gorgeous today. It is beautiful today, lovely outside. Perfect outside. Um was it yesterday or the day before? I guess it was the day before. Um, a big confession.
SPEAKER_02What?
SPEAKER_00I've officially given up on the nails. You've officially given up on dazzle dry. I've given up on any chance of rehabilitating my nails. So I actually have like four different dazzle dry collars and the entire system that I can give it to give to you if you ever want it. I really like to do it myself. I'm just saying I have it if you ever want it, because I understand that. I don't think you ever do it as well as they do it.
SPEAKER_01But this is Well, I'll just go no, like I'm I'm going none right now. Like I'll just go no nail polish.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_01Or I'll go get my nails done. I do need a pedicure.
SPEAKER_00I can't go no nail polish. That is what I have determined. Well, I think you can't because no, they they break and split like all the way down. It's not my nails are not normal, they're like deeply damaged. I I and I tried for many months not to have any. I haven't had anything on this.
SPEAKER_01What is that rug, and why is it not down somewhere? Can I have it?
SPEAKER_00Oh, you're welcome to it.
SPEAKER_01Okay.

SPEAKER_00I don't know what is it. I guess it was from this room, and we got rid of it because we couldn't trust a certain way.
SPEAKER_01I have a ruggable you can take if you want it. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_00We're we're so we're at the point now where the ruggables are more than we want to spend on the rugs that we're leaving around the home for Titan.
SPEAKER_01I have one in the hate. I'm so sorry. I don't like a ruggable rug. And I I understand their purposes, but I don't like that it looks like it's screen printed, which it is. Because it's not like an actual loom. Because it can't be. And I don't like that. Is that right? Yeah, it's like maybe it's not screen printed, but it's like there's no pile to it.
SPEAKER_00It's completely flat because it's but it's not because that's not the reason. Because like I have this one from literally from Amazon. I mean, it's got some softness and pile to it.
SPEAKER_01It's not that it's not soft, like this is a soft rug, but I just don't I hate I don't like that they look like not real rugs.
SPEAKER_00Right. I mean, this doesn't look real. It looks, I mean, I don't know. Does it look real? I don't know. I'll have to do it.
SPEAKER_01I don't I don't even know why I ever bought a ruggable rug. Like Tiny's never had an accident.
SPEAKER_00Right. I know. Well, that's not necessary for you. I I to be honest with you, the ruggables are more annoying because then they have like that thing underneath. Well, why? Why wouldn't that? What what else would they have? Well, they have like the pad that you have to like stick it to. So getting unrolling it back if you're washing it all the time. But oh if you're washing it to lay right and getting it to lay right because we can be washing it constantly, which is right why I just said the hell with it. We got the cheapest rugs we could on Amazon, and now we just throw them in and out of the wash.
SPEAKER_01Right. Well, I do have a ruggable that you could have, but I would love that rug behind you. It would look really nice in this room.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Um so anyway, all that to say I spent $100 on my nails. How is that possible?
SPEAKER_01Oh, wait, you just got your nails done?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And toes?
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_01You spent $100 on your nails.
SPEAKER_00How is that? Builder gel and gel. I think that's a good one. I guess like a full set.
SPEAKER_01Because you're starting from the side.
SPEAKER_00Maybe the refill is and then they had to take the gel off that was on.
SPEAKER_01Right. And they, you know, I think I was when I was going to that private nail tech, that girl.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I think I was spending like $120 plus tip. Just from a dance.
SPEAKER_00I mean, they they're also a little long for me. I can't, I'm like not really feeling it so much, but whatever.
SPEAKER_01Oh, they are long. I like the color. That's such a you color. It's a little purple. It's definitely purple, but I feel like that's you-ish. Yeah, I was like, Isn't that what you had on your nails right before this?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I thought I was getting the same color, and I think she gave me a third coat. Um and it made it even more lovely. I liked it. I liked it leaning a little more brown.
SPEAKER_01It's so funny. So obviously, you know this, but I used to only get Lincoln Park after dark. Like quite literally, it was the only color that I got to nails 365 days a year. Like there wasn't a seasonality to it. And then I really transitioned over to like in the summer, I do like uh big apple red. In the winter, I do Malaga wine. Like so I'm I'm in the similar family.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01But like I see girls my age get like light blue nails, and I'm like grow up. Like what are you doing? Yeah, I know.
SPEAKER_00People do like people do like all sorts of colors. I don't know.
SPEAKER_01It's just like they're no.
SPEAKER_00I like that for a toe.
SPEAKER_01No, no, it's fun in the summer. Here's my thing your toes and your fingers should always match unless you are getting like a nude on your fingers. That is how I feel, like inside of my clothes.
SPEAKER_00But what if you're not doing your toes like ever as frequently as your nails? You need to in the winter.
SPEAKER_01Sorry.
SPEAKER_00Okay, that might be a little bit oppressive.
SPEAKER_01No, but like I'm just saying, like what what are we trying out here? Like we're I don't know.
SPEAKER_00I like a I like a I like a fun color.
SPEAKER_01Even like the color that you have on your nails, right? Like, do you have that on your toes?
SPEAKER_00Well, yeah, because I have it from before.
SPEAKER_01Oh, but you did not get a new pedicure.
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_01You didn't even have to be cute. So it looks a little bit off. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I know, but I because I didn't I well, first of all, this took enough time. This was an hour and change, and I was. I well, between the taking off of the gel and the builder gel, then the gel on top. Yeah, no, that's too long of a pro that's why I don't get my nails done. Like it's like I not to say I don't have the time. I feel like I just started something. You did. But I don't know what else to do anymore with my nails. I don't know. I'm people write in if you have any thoughts.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I just have I have different nails than you. It's not a problem that I have.
SPEAKER_00You're very lucky.
SPEAKER_01I do get this weird like curve thing in my nails that I've looked up, and it apparently is like an iron deficiency. I don't know, I have to look into that. Because I don't eat enough like red meat, which I don't.
SPEAKER_00Which now I'm thinking I'm never going to if that's the thing that's gonna give me um if I have the tick white, so I'm not eating meat anymore.
SPEAKER_01Maybe only in the winter. You can only eat it in the winter months. It's gonna be like oysters.
SPEAKER_00That's right. I had oysters last night, some sweet emalias.
SPEAKER_01We had oysters at Wilder on Friday.
SPEAKER_00And they just the perfect things at there, there was two different mignonettes and then like um a cocktail with like almost like a zitar or something like that. Whatever. It was very delicious.
SPEAKER_01Wait, where'd you have them?
SPEAKER_00We were at Jaffa last night.
SPEAKER_01Oh, did you get the French fries?
SPEAKER_00Yes, we got the French fries, and then you know who Jay Cohen is? He's on Instagram, he's that uh Jewish, that's you know, redundant. Um baker cook, baker cook. He's actually coming no, and he did he checks out, tries out recipes and he bakes. He does like the halas. No you've never seen he's coming out with this new cookbook, Jewish, whatever. He's very fun, he's very cute, um, like whatever. He was doing, I don't think he was, he obviously wasn't there, but they were featuring his hamburger, which is like an all-brisket hamburger. It was like it was like ground brisket. Oh, I don't think I would like that. Was it good? It was very tasty, very, not like standard burger, but very tasty. We got that, the fries, some mac and cheese, and oysters. Suffice to say, my stomach was killing me.

SPEAKER_00Right, and then the fries and the mac and cheese. I mean, mac and cheese doesn't even call to me. French fries, it was their mac and cheese is delicious.

SPEAKER_01Well, good. Last night Peter made the most delicious swordfish. Oh, yeah. How did he on the grill? Salt, pepper, red pepper.
SPEAKER_00Really? Because I have the swordfish states we use at the beach.
SPEAKER_01Well, we got it. I wanted them. We bought them at Whole Foods when we were shopping on Saturday morning because I was like, we never got to have the swordfish down the shore, and I was like so looking forward to it.
SPEAKER_00We did not.
SPEAKER_01And I was like, let's get a pesto. And he was like, I don't really want a pesto. Like, I'll just I'll grill them and I'll I'll do them up. And I was like, okay, whatever. I do love a pesto, so I'm not like hating on the pesto. I'm always gonna be down for swordfish with pesto, but it was the best swordfish I've ever had. Oh wow, yeah, it was so good. I mean, anything on the grill, that's what I keep saying.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I know. We have to get back, and we were like not doing that for a while. Um, yum, that sounds delicious.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it was. And after, I feel like we ate very well down the shore. We were just on a lovely vacation to our favorite place. We were, we were, and we were just like cooking such fun meals.
SPEAKER_00We had really good meals. I was really we did not go out for dinner one night. No, it's too many people, yeah.
SPEAKER_01But it was especially down there, it's like impossible to eat with that many people. I guess we could have split up, but that's not fun.
SPEAKER_00No, I thought it was great. Everybody did brought their best.
SPEAKER_01Yes, brought their best. It was if I could have like a charcuterie board for dinner every night.
SPEAKER_00The first time I was like, we could just have shrimp and like the you know, and like charcuterie. And like the right, but then you were said that's not going to be sufficient for people.
SPEAKER_01Well, we had the grouper and we finished all the grouper, so oh right, right.
SPEAKER_00We had the fish tacos. I forgot about it.
SPEAKER_01It was like the perfect amount.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, it was it was very good.
SPEAKER_01Delicious meals all around.
SPEAKER_00Good meals, a lot of pie, a lot of country corner, pie. I was not really that much pie. Like we didn't eat it every night, like we said, four pies.
SPEAKER_01No, Jake was like talking a big game about how he's gonna go buy a pie every single day. He has his own car in the house.
SPEAKER_00To throw the pie. To throw away the pies. Because I don't want to have them. Yeah. I was like, it's enough pie. It's enough pie. I um I would although I will say, I would rather have pie. Everybody don't hate me. The ice cream we had, I was not in love with.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we didn't have any great. I thought the ice cream cake was delicious.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, the ice cream cake was very good, but I'm saying, like but like the ice cream ice cream was sort of, I mean, I guess whatever. I got soft served one night, which is fine, fun, whatever. But like I just dipper ice cream was good. You just got soft served. Right, which was probably a bad choice. I got the ice cream from the other place the night before or whenever it was, and that was not good. I agree. I did not like that ice cream, even though that was the ice cream cake. That's where we got the ice cream cake. Oh, mother ice cream cake was very good.

SPEAKER_00I think it's like I just don't need like a marshmallow ice cream flavor.
SPEAKER_01I agree, but also you like you picked that, so I think the flavors, I know. I liked it. I think the flavors were weird at that place, which is why it's not that the ice cream was bad, it's just that their ice cream, the whatever they were making was weird.

SPEAKER_01But that's like their thing, I think. They have like off the beaten path. I will say, last year, last summer when we were there, we did like a whole ice cream taste test, and I genuinely like we didn't go to Barry's Do Me a Flavor. Hands down, the best ice cream. Like we should have gone there this year. We really fucked up, but we couldn't have walked, and it was the whole getting driving with the cars and everything.

So it says his seven-year run of sobriety is over, though he insists he's learned to keep a quote unquote tight leash on things. He told Esquire he's off the wagon after seven years sober and 18 months in AA. So I'm wondering if the 18 months in AA was at the beginning of the six years of sobriety or at the end of six years of sobriety.
SPEAKER_00All I remember about the storyline was after he got, after he sort of went through the divorce and was like in the depths of it, I think he went into AA. Right, and he went into AA. Where that happened in the period of time, I don't know.
SPEAKER_01He claims he can have a few glasses of wine, but has to be quote unquote professional about it.
SPEAKER_00I to be honest with you, I literally I'm just waiting for it to fall off to shit.
SPEAKER_01Well, yes. So this says it has a real debate. Recovery experts and online reaction have been split on whether moderate drinking after long sobriety is realistic or classic relapse speak. I mean, we have an interesting relationship to this, but I think that if you're an addict, you can't casually drink.

SPEAKER_01Now, I just think it's a matter of time. Right. Now, I don't know him. Like, I I didn't I didn't diagnose him an alcoholic or an addict. Like maybe he just got sober because he needed to like have a clear mind, and maybe he can casually drink. But the way he's saying it, he's not saying, I'm totally fine. I wanted to stop drinking for six years, but I can go party on Tuesday and be sober for two years.
SPEAKER_00When I whatever I saw, he was saying that when he started drinking again recently, he had a couple where he went a little too far. And now he realizes that he can't do that.
SPEAKER_01But here's my thing: if he's saying, like, I realize I can't do that and I'm having too much and blah, blah, blah, that's not, that doesn't scream alcoholic to me.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I don't know. I guess we're, as you said, we don't know him, we don't know his experience. It is very interesting. I remember um one or two of the people, and I can't remember, I think it was like this private psych. Two of them are both private psychiatrists, psychologists that dad saw before he went to rehab.

SPEAKER_00Um were literally like they were the one guy that we went to specifically, was like that, that's what he espoused. Like you just have to do it. He can have a couple meals. Yeah, it could be moderate. But I mean, I will say dad, dad could do that on Tuesday, but then on Thursday, he'd be inside the bottle of a tequila. Like he could go out and drink casually at times.

Other side, whatever the fuck that song is called, that I can't remember. He says, Yeah, weed's not a drug, that's denial. Like it's such a gateway drug. I mean, people can say whatever they want.

SPEAKER_01I mean, I don't know. I'm not saying that it is addictive, but if you are an addict, you're addicted because that's your personality. Right.

SPEAKER_01But like dad was smoking weed at the end of his life. Yeah. And I was not okay with that. He was like, but I'm not gonna drink. I was like, okay, but you're not sober. Was he like smoking, smoking, or was he just like eating gummies here and there? I'm not, I can't tell. I don't know because I said, don't talk to me about it. I don't want to know.

SPEAKER_01Jake probably knows. I think it was he says it was for his glaucoma. I'm like, you were fine. But anyway, that's neither here nor there. I don't really believe in sobriety. But she said, I think everyone should become addicted to something in their life so that they can prove to themselves that they can beat an addiction. And like it is an interesting pro like my I'm not saying that everyone should get addicted to something. Like, don't shoot up heroin. What I'm saying is Well, okay, cigarettes. Right. Or like, you know, it doesn't even have to be substance. Like, you can be addicted to running. Like, she's what her, I think her point was that like you should need to prove to yourself that you can break an addiction, that you can stop doing like it's like a character building extra.
