Hi.
SPEAKER_01Hi.
SPEAKER_02What's going on, honey?
SPEAKER_01Nothing. What's up with you?
SPEAKER_02How are you on this lovely Sunday morning? I am good. Not not Sunday morning anymore, actually. My apologies. Sunday afternoon.
SPEAKER_01Early Sunday afternoon, everybody. Early Sunday afternoon. I just what did I do this morning? We slept in to the late. What, like a crazy 6.30? Oh my god, 7 30. Stayed in bed until 7 30. Wow. And then we appeared in the city. Oh, wow. But I didn't get out of bed until like 9.
unknownOh.
SPEAKER_01Well, Peter had some work yet to do this morning because we were off at camp yesterday. We do want to hear about camp. And then we went to go get some coffee beans so we could make our coffee. And then Peter made me a lovely butternut squash, jammy egg, breakfast bowl.
SPEAKER_02Yum. I'm having butternut squash tonight. That sounds delicious, though. It was very delicious. I think after this, I'm going to have some sourdough toast with avocado. Sounds divine. Mm-hmm. Danny had it yesterday. Danny, my niece, for those of you who are listening, who was visiting. We've been told that we need to inform our listeners of who the people are so it's not confusing.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_02So Danny, my sister Eileen's daughter, they were here for a brief period of time, which was lovely. We all had dinner together Friday night. Leah and Peter joined us. Um, but Danny was having um sourdough toast, avocado toast yesterday morning, and I was like, wow, that sounds good. And I woke up thinking that would be a delicious dark to my day. Not quite a stark to my day. It's 1230, but sure. Right. I have a hard time with breakfast. Do you know that about me? I get that. Same. Some all those years of keto, I don't, it's very hard for me. Or I guess not the keto, the internet. Not hungry at all. See, that's not good. I I know. I don't know what to do about it. I don't know what to do about it. Well, I do have to just start eating breakfast. You'll get you'll get reset your cycle. Well, first thing in the morning, I do, not first thing in the morning, but after an hour or a half hour, I do have a cup of coffee with like, you know, probably three ounces of milk in it. Mom. I'm not saying that's a meal. I'm not saying that's a meal.
SPEAKER_01I'm not saying that. Anyone was wondering if I grew up with an almond mom, I did. I was not an almond mom. I was not. Okay, I love you so much, and you have so hard, but like you were the definitively an almond mom. Like, I think the actual definition of almond mom is you. Not, I don't think that you wanted to be. It just is how the cookie crumbled.
SPEAKER_02What is the definition of an almond mom now that we're talking? Shall we find out? I mean, because my mom, I don't, she doesn't even an almond mom. What was she then?
SPEAKER_01Almond mom is a mother who project her projects her own restrictive eating habits, anxieties about body image and toxic diet culture mindsets onto her children.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I'm so sorry. Like I love you. I tried so hard.
SPEAKER_01I know. I did try really hard.
SPEAKER_02I think it's you're you are I didn't give you bad body image issues. I just gave them to Jake.
SPEAKER_01Oh, you don't think that you gave me body images?
SPEAKER_02Well, I think you you were you are I I mean I love you so much. You are as a teen, you were see, I'm not you were like, I'm frigging awesome, I'm gorgeous.
SPEAKER_01Okay, well, first of all, gorgeous and body image issues, not the same. Fair.
SPEAKER_02Um we seem to be diving deep into a topic.
SPEAKER_01Regardless, what would have even started this conversation? Oh, the breakfast. Yes. Your metabolism is not functioning properly if you don't wake up hungry. You've just fat you've just intermittent fasted for I know whatever. I mean, what time do you eat dinner? Well, we eat it. You eat a little later than me.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we were finished dinner around eight. I did have my little snack at night, probably around nine.
SPEAKER_01And tell everyone what your little sweet treat snack is, just so that we can solidify the almond mom title.
SPEAKER_02Eileen told us. I said so. Eileen commented that all I do is laugh through this podcast, and this is definitely gonna be one on there. So I have um a sugar-free jello pudding cup with some ready whip with some ready whip on top last night because I had bought those Trader Joe's mini mini cookies. Did you see them? So I showed you the tiniest chocolate chip. The tiniest chocolate chip cookies. They're a delicious little topping for things. So I brought up a little container of those so I could have them on top of my pudding last night. And how many do you put on top of the pudding? Is it five? Is it seven? No, I probably had 10 or 12 on there. I couldn't get any more. It was a tiny little, it was tiny, and I shared it with Mark. You shared the pudding? No, we each had our own pudding cup.
SPEAKER_01Oh, you shared the tiniest cookies.
SPEAKER_02I had a little container of tiny cookies, yes. I saw I gave him some for his pudding as well. And then we were gonna go all crazy and have a Reese's peanut butter cup, the mini Trader Joe's ones. We were gonna have one of those afterwards, but we didn't end up doing that. I mean, that would have just put you right over the edge. Right over. Anyway, all that to say, I should try and eat breakfast. I usually just drink the protein shake.
SPEAKER_01And honestly, it's not great, but it's better than nothing. Right, I know. But like not waiting until noon to have the protein shake.
SPEAKER_02Like, you know what I'm saying? Well, I didn't, I just I didn't for whatever reason this morning, I was like watering my plants and I got distracted and I drink didn't drink the protein this morning, which I normally do. Okay, well, whatever. I was dealing with my organism.
SPEAKER_01You don't have to tell you how to live your life. You should eat how like I really do believe like we should all just eat however we want to eat, and that makes us feel the best. But all to say, I do believe that the almond mom title is rightfully given. Yeah, um, I just need to text uh Peter because I hear how you're doing something bad. Um in the gym, which means he's eating my Melissa would help ankle weights because that's his like go tail.
SPEAKER_02Um anyway, so tell us about camp. Let's stop with that.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so yesterday, so I went to overnight camp and I was gonna like make a joke about like it seems redundant given that I'm like a Jew from the suburbs, but whatever. Um, I went to overnight camp when I was a kid, and they threw a like reunion weekend this past weekend. So it literally started Thursday night. Like, I know people that got there on Thursday night, which is you know, that's just like a week that I'm not personally at. But um my best friend from camp, Lexi, who I think I've mentioned on this podcast before, like flew in from London, like a lot of my friends were there. My other best friend, Allie, like drove in with her husband. So I really wanted to show Peter, my husband, camp. He did not go to overnight camp. It's funny, like, I talked to his parents now. His mom really wanted to send him to overnight camp, and his dad was like, no, I'm not giving up my kids for the summer, which is like a hilarious. Meanwhile, I'm like, we will be shipping them off as early as humanly possible. But Peter and I kind of like disagree on whether or not we want to send our kids to camp, which we went to dinner with my best friend Liv and her husband Sam last night, like when we got home. Who met at camp. Who met at camp? So they're they're camp people, obviously. And Liv was like, this the second I can send my kids to camp, like they will start going to camp. And it was interesting to hear Peter last night after getting to go and see. I mean, look, he said for him, he's glad he didn't go to overnight camp. Like, Peter wants to go play like one sport all day and then like go home and go to bed. Like, he doesn't want to like, and I guess it's different for boys, he's like seeing it from a girl's perspective. But like, we couldn't.
SPEAKER_02But he could have gone to like one of those boy like sports camps. He went to sport camps, but like I'm saying, if he had gone to a more sports-focused camp.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and I don't know. I just think for whatever, I mean, look, he's not a kid anymore, so it's like hard. It doesn't matter itself in the experience, but he said, I totally get it. And like, I think it's great. So well, I love that. I'm glad we had that. Amazing. We had first of all, the weather was beautiful, and we just had like such an amazing day, like bopping around. My it's very strange to go to camp as like a a 30-year-old with like my counselors were there, like it was just like a very weird meta experience. Right. That's also like our camp went through kind of like a transition period when I stopped going to camp. Being the reason that I stopped going to camp, like our owners passed away and the camp was sold, and like kind of the structure of the camp changed a little bit, but it just felt very old camp. And strangely, I don't even know if I've ever told you this. Peter's Aunt Debbie went to Wokwaic. What? Like, literally, she said from 67 to 74. Like, she went to Wokwaic. Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_02I didn't know.
SPEAKER_01So I'm like, there were all these people there from the 60s and 70s. So I was asking people, like, do you know? Blah blah blah. It was just really funny, and they they did a really great job, and we just had so much fun. And it's a little bit of a haul for the day. So I was very grateful to Peter for not only coming but doing all of the driving. Right. And we just had a great time. I'm so glad. Yeah, and it was just like a fantastic. I know. I like the last summer that we went, I don't think that I knew that it was my last summer because then there was like all that stuff that kind of happened and blah blah blah. And it just like Lexi was like, I feel like I've like healed something inside of me. Like, we never got to like have our final moment closure there. Love that. I haven't been there in 15 years. Yeah, like it's crazy. Yeah. But it was it was an amazing day, and I really have to say, obviously, like this is such a privileged statement, but I I truly think like camp is if you have the ability to go or send your children, like it's the most magical experience. There's there are just no words to describe it.
SPEAKER_02Well, you know, when I first started going to camp, because which was ironic because my dad's parents ran it. Oh, right, yeah. They ran it. They don't think they owned it, they ran it. Okay. Like my whatever, because they were both like my grandfather was a principal, so they had their summers off, so that's what they would do in the summer. My dad did not, like, for whatever reason, I guess whatever, there were a lot of us, want to pay to send all three of us to camp. Howie, I do not think went to overnight camp.
SPEAKER_00I'm not sure why. He sent his kids.
SPEAKER_02Yes. Um, but um the first camp I went to your brother. Howie is my brother. But the first camp me and my two sisters went to was like a charity camp where I don't even think it matters. You went, no, and I gotta tell you something, that camp was the most gorgeous camp I have ever. Like, I mean, pretty much I got all the donations. Right. They were their biggest sponsor was Golden Burke Peanut Chees. So we got Golden Burk Peanut Chews at night. Oh, that's our album. That was our trip. So that's where my love of peanut juice came from. That camp was gorgeous, and you paid according to like I think our family probably played like the most, but you paid according to your ability. I mean, there were girls in my bunk who probably paid like $50 to go there.
SPEAKER_01I like joke though, because I think that which is why we loved Wokwaic so much, which was probably ultimately to their downfall and why they ended up having to be like purchased by another camp. Because I'm not saying it was pay as you go, and I'm not saying you didn't spend a fortune to send us there, but they were very open to trying to make it work for people because they wanted people to experience the magic of camp. Like Lexi, my best friend, is one of four, all four children were going to camp at the same time. Like they were making sure that that was doable for them. Right. And I just think not all camps do that, and not all camps can do that. And I understand that it's like a it's a for-profit business unless you're going to like a URJ or a YMCA. But it's just the most magical. Like, we did a fake, they did like a faux color war, and it was like a little bit too serious. Like we were all joking. We were like, we signed up for this at the beginning of the day, and now like that's not what we want to do. But right, and they did like a faux Apache, which is like this huge relay race that happens at the end of color war, and like the events are always the same, and the last event is like this huge thing, or at the end of the Apache, which like color war is the biggest thing in camp. You all come to main campus and you're watching this last event happen, and we were all joking, like this was a fake Apache, like this literally was made up today, and we were all like jumping up and down with so much stretch, so much anxiety. And it was funny because the event is like a it's it's all about time. You're trying to beat the other team, obviously, because of the relay race, and so they had like tryouts for who did it's called the bed, the last event, and the girls from the 60s outtimed the girls that were my age. Oh wow, that's so they did the bed at the end and they won, and it was like so much fun. Oh, that's awesome. So you had the best day.
SPEAKER_02You had a great day. I'm so glad that's wonderful. Yeah, I didn't do anything that exciting. Did you do anything? Period. What did I do yesterday? Not a whole lot. Really. I mean, nothing. We like hung out. I sat outside for a while because it was really nice out. Although it was really hot in the back, it gets hot on the back patio.
SPEAKER_00Well, you just look black back there.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And um, well, the tile's white. I don't know. It was hot, but anyway. Um, and then um we just walked out locally for you know to dinner at North Third. Nothing crazy. We were home by eight o'clock. It was like chill.
SPEAKER_01It was fantastic.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Had my Caesar salad and my cutlet.
SPEAKER_00That sounds delicious. It was good.
SPEAKER_01That's like kind of become like our Sunday night dinner is we get the just bear chicken.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_01I like we want to eat it, we want to eat at home, but we don't want to cook meal.
SPEAKER_02That's my favorite easy throw-together dinner. So we have the Caesar salad salad. Yum. And it's delicious. I love that just bear chicken. Me too. It's fantastic. You just don't have an air fryer. You have no idea how much better it would even be in the air fryer. We can air fry in our oven.
SPEAKER_01Okay. So that is what I do with them. I don't know if I'm our oven is a piece of shit, so that's besides the point.
SPEAKER_02That's besides the point. Um, the other thing I wanted to tell you, which I I wanted to say, which I was thinking about, it's not like a happy thing. Um, but I had a a an experience this week which I found was sort of surprising to me, and I was very unprepared for it. Oh my god, okay. I think I said this to you. I had an echocardiogram earlier in the week. Oh, right. You did tell me this. I I found it very I I I'm just very curious. If anybody has had an echocardiogram, would somebody please message me and let me know if they had the same experience. Why would you say that? I found it very I I don't know if you ever have any like marker for I don't know.
SPEAKER_01No, I'm saying like why heart disease. Oh, to test. Like something shows up weird, so they're like, go get your heart checked, basically.
SPEAKER_02Yes. But yours looks yours was great. But mine was good. It wasn't the results of the test, but we're concerned. No, I know. I just want to make sure we get that out there. The echocardiogram itself is I I I was kind of I know this, and I'm not like I don't consider myself a prudish person. You're you're not.
SPEAKER_01But would you say that it was more invasive than like a mammogram? Because it was someone's hand on you, you're saying.
SPEAKER_02Well, but the thing is, when you go for a mammogram, it's a woman. Well, is it always a woman? I think people have male gynecologists, like that's a I used to a million years ago. That's I think that's weird. But I also what I'm saying is like, could you have could you have requested a female test? I didn't even know, I could have, I guess. I didn't even know that I should have. I didn't know what the test was. I thought it was gonna be like an EKG, where they like strapped me up to a bunch of probes and just kind of moved the wand around. And instead, which is kind of what they're doing, but instead you're basically lying for a portion of it anyway, you're lying on your left side. So your back is to the technician. You have like a gown on that's open. That's also white successful. Right. Well, it wasn't like I actually think I would have felt better if I had just been lying on my back. Right, but he was reaching over me with his arm and he had the ultimate position. And like he was someone behind you, touching under, yeah, under my left boob. Yeah, it's because he's trying to see the heart. And I remember there was an episode of the pit this year, it was either this year or last year, where somebody, one of the patients, like they didn't, they missed something because when they were doing the echo, I guess you could do like an echo, like in an ambulance or something, and this woman was had was large-breasted, and you would literally have to, if you were trying to do it right, you would probably have to like lift up somebody's boob and like to get really under there. And they didn't, I don't remember the whole thing, but they didn't get the proper reading because she was so large-breasted that they didn't like get in there enough because maybe they were like awkward or uncomfortable. Yeah, but I can imagine if I mean look, I have no boobs anymore. If you were, if you were lying there and the person was reaching around, forget about your the one that he has the probe under. Your other boob would basically be sitting on the guy's arm.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Well, I don't know.
SPEAKER_02It was a very weird experience for me.
SPEAKER_01I think having no idea what it was going to be, and then going in and it being that probably felt like disarming. Like it was like, so what I will say is here's a PSA if you were getting an echocardiogram, which I I really hope no one is. Um ask for a woman.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because I know there was a woman. She was like in the next room, like reviewing something. So clearly there are female, obviously. Duh. I mean, that's a stupid statement. But I if I had known, it's funny though, because if I had known, I don't even know that I would. I mean, I always request, aside from Colleen, my massage therapist, I always request men because I can't stand but women massage therapists.
SPEAKER_01But that's not a good thing. Because I don't like their skinny hand procedure.
SPEAKER_02No, but some people don't like to have a male massage therapist because they feel like that massage makes sense to me.
SPEAKER_01I'm saying if you knew what the process was going to be, that someone was gonna be like flopping your boobs around, it's not the same thing as requesting a female male massage.
SPEAKER_02No, I know, I know. I wonder if there are male texts for mammograms. I don't think so. For a mammogram, they literally like take their your boob in their hand. So like it's a big thing.
SPEAKER_01Was the man obviously straight? Like if it was a gay man, would you have cared less? I mean my assumption would be that.
SPEAKER_02He was like an older, straight man. He was probably like my age or older. Oh, yeah. See, that I would have, I mean, I would have been like, I can't do that, please. I mean, if he was younger, then I'm sorry because he looked a little old. But he was not a young he wasn't like a young person. And it it felt, I don't know. It was like, and he couldn't have been like nicer or like more professional. And he wasn't like awkward or weird.
SPEAKER_01He was like the right I'm sure he does it all the time. He's very useful.
SPEAKER_02I I didn't, yeah. I didn't, he was not weird.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_02I just had no I kept on being like, oh, oh, well, like okay. Yeah. Anyway, weird. Yeah, that was just my little experience for anyway. The thing that I wanted to talk to you. Wait, before we do that, I have to use our platform for good.
SPEAKER_01Oh, that's right. I'm so sorry. I've been talking about this for a while. Okay, I'm ready for it. And I'm finally bringing it to the forefront. And I will be clipping this. So, Riverside, do your this is what it is. I will be clipping this and I will be putting this on every form of social media. We live, as we've mentioned, in the Philadelphia suburban. An area, whatever. There is a law firm around here, which, like I'm sure, if wherever you're listening, there are probably like injury lawyers that promote themselves all over your cities, your suburbs, on the highways, like on those big billboards, whatever. There is one in our area that I've known about, like, like I've seen my whole life. So it's called Top Dog. You already know this, I've told you this before. It's called Top Dog Law. And for years, it was like this like nebishy little guy on their whatever with like super yellow teeth. And I'm not gonna be nice because I fucking hate this law firm now. Um and like people would like draw on the buses, whatever. Like it was all over everything. And recently they redid their ads. Same guy, he must have had his teeth whitened, or they got like someone to do their like to edit the photo. And their new thing, so the name of their firm, I'm going to repeat, is Top Dog Law Firm. Whatever. And whatever, I don't know the exact name. And their new thing is Our Bark Has Bite. And it's him.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I know exactly where it's going.
SPEAKER_01With a pit bull with like clipped ears, like sitting in front of him. Every time, it like could bring me to tears. Every single time I see this ad, I am fucking enraged by how, first of all, um, what is the word? Irresponsible. How irresponsible that ad is for not only like pit bull owners, like people who walk the streets with their dogs, who are, I mean, my dog would literally never hurt anyone. He is petrified of everything. Like he would literally never hurt anyone. But to lean so heavily into a stereotype that you're going to put billboards on highways, buses, bus stops everywhere you possibly can, with a picture of a pit bull that says our bark has bite, you're not only stupid, you're really, really irresponsible. Like it makes me so angry every single time with this like ugly ass, losury-looking guy with like his big smile plastered across his face, with this gorgeous might I add, which I'm sure they went out of their way to find like clipped ear. And he's a bully. He has this huge head, like just like tiny, is this gorgeous, these gorgeous, like light gray, beige ish markings on him. He's first of all a gorgeous dog. But like to go out of your way to like find what you would probably consider like a scary-looking pit bull to be on your ad about biting, it's so fucked up and it makes me so angry. So here I am calling out top dog law. I said to Peter, like, should I call the office and complain? He was like, no, use your platform. I was like, so here I am using my platform, and I hope that all of these ads get taken down. And I would love to sue the pants off of them. Like, I I hate them.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_01So whoever you are, top dog, I wish I could find this guy's name so I could call him out. I'm sure you could.
SPEAKER_02It's it's enraging to me. Where are their off? I mean, I know I've seen the ads. Where are their offices? I don't even know the answer to that question, but it doesn't matter.
SPEAKER_01Like they have like ads on Instagram where they're like like walking with a pit bull. Like, you're so dumb. Well, it's like you're an injury firm, you're an injury law firm. So, like, you're you're joking about bite, but then you're fighting for people who've been injured. Like, it's it doesn't even make sense. It's like a stupid marketing ploy.
SPEAKER_02Oh, hear you. Oh, I see. I see the guy. I know who you're talking about.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so I don't know what this guy's name is, but I hate him. James Helm. Okay. Well, here we go. James Helm.
SPEAKER_02I'm coming for you.
SPEAKER_01I'm coming for you. And like I I I will take measures.
SPEAKER_02So it's very interesting. I mean, it's unrelated completely, but it does lead us into the into the topic of the irresponsible marketing. Irresponsible marketing. So I'm sure most of you, if you've been on anything lately, not everybody, I guess, has heard it or seen it. Um the good good Callaway Golf ad, where, which I confess I know not knew nothing about good good golf before I saw the ad. And I saw the ad because somebody I follow, a woman, was enraged. Doctor was enraged and went off and and and showed they've there've been some like not counter ads, but like some counter ads where so explain the ad. Okay, yes, let me go backwards. So the ad is this guy, Garrett, from Good Good Golf, which is a they're a media company, they have their own YouTube channel, they have their own merch. I think it's a bunch of guys basically.
SPEAKER_01They're like out golfers.
SPEAKER_02And they follow golf, they talk about golf, they do golf pranks and things on their YouTube channel.
SPEAKER_01And they hosted their own like tournaments.
SPEAKER_02Yes. And it's it's they're pretty big. Um, I didn't really say anything about them because I'm not like a big golfer. Yes, we asked my son Jake. Jake's been a subscriber for a long, you know, follows out.
SPEAKER_01Peter does subscribe, but like of course I know who they are. Like they're I mean, I'm not saying like every Joe Schma off the street knows who they are, but like I think if you know what golf, like if you know golf at all, you know, I know and you're in a certain demographic.
SPEAKER_02Right. I mean, maybe age-wise. Pop wouldn't have known them, but right, like a young golfer would know them. They're a bunch of young guys. I think they're from Texas. Anyway, so the ad is an ad for a Cali driver. And uh this woman, Alexis, who is, I believe, part of their crew, um, is standing in front of, or she goes to take the driver out of the bag or something. And this guy, Garrett, runs across and like pushes her down and like leans over her.
SPEAKER_01She makes an and she makes an audible noise. Yeah, she like it wasn't like I'm not not, and we can get into all of this, but it's not that it was like a shove. Like, she makes a noise as if she was literally like thrown to the ground.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, she falls down in the ad. And he le he stands over her and says something like, now I can't remember, like, don't you dare my driver. You know, so it's supposed to show like how you know amazing this driver is and how like she doesn't anyway, but that's besides the point. Like, I don't get it. Anyway, so it's obviously caused a huge, huge fur, and they've been like effectively canceled. And um, you know, Dick Sporting Goods pulled, I don't know if they're pulling Callaway, but they certainly put up pulled all their good golf, good, good golf merch. Target pulled all their good good golf merch. There was like a promotion that was supposed to launch on something um in uh this year, and they're like holding us which one. So all this, obviously, this negative stuff. Now, I will say, in doing like a little bit of research about it, people were unhappy with the level of apology, with the timing of the apologies, with Callaway CEO's apology. They all sort of blamed somebody else. Right. You know, good, good Gough was like our marketing team told us like that. They everybody approved the ad. Okay. Everybody signed off on it. I don't care who says they did or they didn't, you know, the CEO guys, like, we made a mistake, whatever. They all signed off on the ad. And it's interesting to me because one, I'm like, how fucking you know, some people's reactions, like, I mean, like if you know the guys and you know their bits, maybe it's not as shocking to you that like it's like, you know, watching, I don't know, a scene from South Park. If you don't know South Park, you might be like, oh my god, this was horribly offensive. I'm not defending in any way. And I believe the ad was an ad on their YouTube channel. So theoretically, the only people who would have seen it or who it was targeted to would have been like their followers. But obviously, things like this get around and it went viral, and this is what's happening. I mean, people are donating money to domestic abuse, you know, places, and you know, Callaway basically, or yeah, Callaway, I think, said they're giving a million dollars to domestic violence, shelters around the country, and blah, blah, blah, and all this stuff. So it's become like a big deal.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_02My initial reaction is first of all, A, I think the ad sucks, and it would have been way funnier if it had been like in the reverse. Like if she had wanted pushed him down.
SPEAKER_01I have so many like thoughts and questions.
SPEAKER_02But I'm like, how what fucking stupid media team does not know whether you think they should have been canceled or not, does not know that in 2026, if you do something like this, and maybe you're not thinking it's gonna become viral, but if you do something like this, somebody's gonna see it, and they are gonna come for you. And you know, the the whole thing is like, you know, I was talking to Jake about it, and he's like, it's there's so much hypocrisy, all these people jumping on the bandwagon, the LGPA tour, like PGA tour, like they didn't let women in until 2013 or whatever, and now they're like appalled. And I said, of course, because that's our culture now. It's like everyone wants to jump on the oh my god, I'm so offended.
SPEAKER_01Anyway, that's the right so to piggyback off of that, like that is my number one anytime I see anything remotely like this, and I'm like, I can't even think of not that they don't happen often, but like I'm trying to think of the most recent, like biggest similar cancelable offense that happened like this. Where it's not like off the cusp, like you're not like on an interview and you fuck up and you say something, lie, and you can't take it back. And it's not something from 20 years ago in your past. It is a planned piece of content that has multiple minds. Like, this isn't a good example. I mean, it is a good example, but this isn't the most recent example. The Kendall Jenner Pepsi ad. Exactly. That got so much back. Like BM and clearly the level of production of this was not as big, but these are content creators. People look at these things, it goes through checks and balances multiple times. How in 2016 you don't have someone in any of those positions that has the foresight to say, haha, this is funny or ha ha, this is not funny, but this is going to end poorly. Like, I'm not saying it's unbelievable to me. It it really, like, I always joke, I always say to Peter, like, you know, like when you're young, you do dumb stuff. And I always think, like, you know, when people start to get famous and gain clout, a lot of times people who want to like take them down, whether it's people that know them or people that don't know them, will like go sifting through old tweets. You know, it was like a huge thing for a while. I feel like it has almost died down a little bit, but like go through old tweets, go through old Facebook pictures, go like reach out to as many people as humanly possible to try and get information to like take someone down, that is who our culture is, which I don't agree with. I think that people change and someone's tweet from 10 years ago is not representative of who they are today. But to make such a planned piece of content and put it out into the world, representing you basically shoving a woman to the ground. Like, I just first of all, the ad is stupid as fuck, and it doesn't even make the driver look interesting. Like, I just I don't, I literally, I don't even understand. So what's interesting to you is that you say it would have been better in the reverse. Now, the argument, I guess, could be like that's still domestic violence, men, women, women, men. It's not the same, I understand, but it is. I mean, like, women are accused of domestic violence too. Look at Taylor Frankie Paul or whatever her name is. Like, those things do happen. I think that number one, to joke about domestic abuse, male on woman, woman on male, woman on woman, male on male, like, why are we joking about that? It's like not funny at all, ever. That's never funny. But also, what the fuck does that have to do with golf? Like, it should have been like, I mean, I don't know. There's plenty of content teams to make it up. It should have been anything else. Like, the ad is dumb at its at its core, not even talking about the fact that they're then joking about domestic violence.
SPEAKER_02So, so I so it's interesting because like on one hand, I'm like, now I think I agree with all of what you're saying. And then I think to myself, like, these pee these kids are like a bunch of dumb idiots, like in their, I don't know how old they are, but they're not really my age. Um, and you know, they're getting they're they're gonna be, you know, I don't know what's gonna happen to them, but they lost a lot of money over the last week, that's for sure. And one question I have is like, you know, obviously, not my question, you know, one side of the coin is like, even if it was stupid, even if it was whatever, does it it does it really rise to the level where these where they should be like completely canceled and lose their business? Right? I mean, with Pepsi and the ad, like Kendall didn't get canceled, Pepsi didn't disappear. It was like they issued all their apologies, everybody said, we're so sorry, we're so sorry. And they went on, and arguably that was maybe, I'm not saying domestic violence is not bad, but in the context of like all the George Foldress that might have been more tone-dead at the scale it was.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it was a Pepsi riot. I think it was on a super bowl commercial, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Right, right. This is obviously different. Now, I will tell you, I was like looking around. Now, obviously, this was a long time ago, but this would there was a Michelob Super Bowl ad in 2006, I believe, where they're outside playing like football, men and women, and they're lining up, you know, to what the whatever line. I'm so embarrassed. Um, the ready to line up and whatever. Yeah, right, yeah. And it's there's men. I'm sorry, Jake. What is it the starting line? No, it's like there's a line for the part that you go to. It's the scrimmage line. Is it the scrimmage line? I think it's the scrimmage line. Okay, anyway, let's go. That's where the ball is placed to start. Right, okay, anyway, that was that's bad. Anyway, we can't. There's a woman on one side, yeah. There's a woman on one side, there's a guy on the other, and she's like, you know, kidding around and talking shit and going like, hey, I'm gonna get open, I'm gonna get open, I'm gonna get open, like kind of talk, you know, shit shit talking to the guy across from they break, she runs, he tackles her to the ground, and he stands over her and he says, You were open, but now you're closed, or something like that.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02That's the Michelob Light ad from 2006. Okay, so now you finish and then I'll go. So I was like curious. Now, granted, it's very different. They're playing football. Right. So you're playing tackle football, and you've sort of signed up to be tackle.
SPEAKER_01Next is completely different, right? I that's what I think makes a difference. Again, you're telling me this ad, and I'm like, that doesn't sell beer to me. So like I just think. But I mean it was 2000, right? But like culture is so different now. You're playing football. So, okay, you're playing football, you're playing a tackle sport. Correct. Now, I personally I don't play tackle sports, so that would never happen to me. But you're a woman and you want to get tackled by men, sign up for football. Like, that's the thing to do. I mean, I think of like the Friends episode, the Thanksgiving episode, where they're like playing football and whatchamacallit, um Chandler or like Ross like Dex Monica. Now their brother and sister, still male on female, but like you're signing up for a tackle support. 100%. That to me, I mean, did they get backlash? I assume not. No, but I but that's different. This woman is standing by a caddy.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, no, I I look, I think it's totally different. And she was decked for reaching for something.
SPEAKER_01I mean, like the the the there, I don't really think about it.
SPEAKER_02Not more than him shoving her, was like that tone. This standing over, like looking down on her, she's on the ground. And he was like, Don't ever touch my driver again. That controlling, like that, I but I will tell you, most of the men, no surprise, who have watched the ad that I know agree that it was bad and in bad taste and y-da-da-da-da. But kind of think it's ridiculous that such a big cue and cry is being made. Yeah. What was Peter's take on it? Not that it was stupid and they should have known better, but like, was he like personally offended?
SPEAKER_01I do I mean, yeah, he was like his immediate take was like, that's so dumb. Like, why would you ever do something like that? Like, very like taking the domestic violence out of it. He's like, you have to be an idiot to post an ad like that. So I think that that was kind of like more because I I presented it to him as like, look at this thing, not like he came across it on his own timeline. So it's it's hard to have his like unwhate, unbiased thoughts on it. But what I will say is that, and you mentioned this, I think guys, especially who know them, know this. I feel like it's like they're like, whatever, they're fucking idiots. Like, what is that other those other people that do like dumb stuff? And I'm always like, Who is yeah, they do like the dumb pranks. I can't remember. And I'm always like, that's like not funny to me. Like, no, I don't, that's not humor that's funny to me. Like that kind of slapstick. I'm not I'm not like saying that they're the same because they took that slapstick humor to another level. I'm understanding that, but like what I'm saying is like none of that is funny to me. So, like, if you talk to someone who thinks that stuff like that in terms of like the genre of comedy is funny, right, then I'm like, maybe you're not as offended by that because you're looking at, I mean, it's in a similar way, but not a similar way, the conversation that people have about comedians. Like, can they say whatever they want? Can they make something like that? Well, I think it's different. I think they can say whatever they want. Obviously, because there's like a physical element to that comedy, which I personally No, I just mean that if you're a comedian, you say whatever you want.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_01So what I'm saying is like I But it's different. You're that's an ad to me, but to me, but it's a comedic ad. Like they're funny, that's like their thing. So they're not coming out with some like serious spiel. I'm not, I really don't want it to sound like I feel like no, no, no.
SPEAKER_02I know you're not defending what I'm saying, but with like a comedian, you go to see them, you pay to see their Q.
SPEAKER_01Well, you're whoever they didn't post it wasn't on a PGA. Right.
SPEAKER_02I mean, I just feel like there's it, I don't know.
SPEAKER_01I feel like it's I get what you're saying, and I agree, and I and this is putting aside the fact that I think that this is disgusting and stupid, and in really poor taste. Like all of those things correct. Right. But what I'm saying is like, you know, when a comedian stands up and makes like a joke about Jews, a lot of the time that that aren't even Jewish, and we like make this argument that like com like comedians and comedy like are kind of like exempt from like social rules, and and we all kind of like extend it and and allow it to be funny. Is there a conversation of that here? Like, it is it these guys are like funny content creators, they made a poor choice, but the idea was to be funny. Like, I don't I'm hoping, and I'm trying to give them a lot of people. No, I am sure they thought it was funny that these boys are not beating their girlfriends and they think that this is true.
SPEAKER_02Jig says they're like not bad guys, they're just idiots.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, exactly. They're dumb. Like, I I literally could see people that we know, like not doing this exactly, but doing something dumb and being like, oh, we thought it was funny.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_01Like, I really having no malintendent, and I'm really not trying to like apologize for the men because like fuck the men, they made a really dumb decision and they're obviously not surrounded by enough smart women. Like this woman who got herself put on the ground, you're dumb. Like, I don't know what to do. Well, it's so interesting because everybody's calling for her to speak and she has not spoken on it. Well, because she's on their team and he they probably pay her paycheck, so she's probably keeping very quiet. But like, you're an idiot. If some boy, first of all, this is why I work for a completely female company because I don't fuck around with men. I I there are like five that I like. I always say it's a either. I'm like, you must know how much I like you because like I married you. But if some guy that I like I worked for asked me if they could put me on the ground, I would be like, here's my resignation. Like, how dumb. Right. But I mean, I guess it's part of their shtick. But that's what I'm saying. Like, I think that you have to be like a little like for the boys to like even work for dumb boys like that. Like, I don't have time for the book.
SPEAKER_02Well, you clearly Right. But there's a lot of people do that. And look, and there's plenty of people. I mean, they this gets into like, you know, the conversation literally that we had. I think it was like our first podcast where we talked about what happened to me on New Year's Eve when that guy complimented my ass and I didn't know him. Yes. Um, by telling you that your ass looked great. Right. Um, is you know, the go along to get along, where people, I don't know, people feel like they have to like not say anything.
SPEAKER_01For a group of young guys who's like, well, I feel like a certain degree humor.
SPEAKER_02You signed up a little bit. Right. I mean, look, it reminds me of different Robin Quivers on Howard Stern. And they used to do the most ridiculous, he would say the most ridiculous. He has calmed way down. And she would just laugh along and ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_01That must also, that's like, and I'm not saying good or bad, like that must be why she has that job. Because she can go along with that. Like she thinks that's funny.
SPEAKER_02Right. Right. Right. Now, someone who thinks stuff like that is funny. They said the ad, which I know nothing about it, they said the ad was inspired by some horror film obsession. Yeah, so I didn't see the movie, but yes. And I and somehow that what happened was related. I don't know why or how.
SPEAKER_01Huh. You know what we should do?
SPEAKER_02What's that? I'm gonna phone a friend. Oh, I'm so excited. Who are you gonna get? I guess you'll see. Okay. I love this. Hopefully they answer, but they won't. I just know. Oh, darn it. Oh, disappointing.
SPEAKER_01Oh wow. That was disappointing. My brother. Um, I feel like he would because he loved obsession. So I would be like, What was that movie about? This girl who was obsessed with this guy because this guy like wished for her to be obsessed with him. What does that have to do with that ad though?
SPEAKER_02I that was what I was gonna ask Jake instead of asking chat, but now I'll ask. Um, well, I will also say that Jake, and I'm not trying to throw Jake under a bus in any way, he he was like, it's ridiculous, people are being ridiculous. I know. I mean, he was saying everybody was being hypocritical, which is true. Um, but that it was ridiculous, like it wasn't promoting violence against women, which I'm not saying that it is either.
SPEAKER_01This is what Chad is saying. The controversial good good golf advertisement was intended to be a satirical parody of the 2026 horror movie Obsession. The concept. In the ad promoting a co-branded driver with Callaway Golf, the driver was supposed to act like a cursed evil object from the movie. Co-founder Garrett Clark played a character so possessed and obsessed with the sacred club that he violently shoved a female golfer to the ground when he tried when she tried to touch it. So I guess we would have had to have seen or under I'm not I'm not defending. I hate that I'm not sure.
SPEAKER_02You'd have to have seen the movie, and you would have you seen the ad. I don't know the movie, but do you think anybody would have known that that was the inspiration? Well, it's impossible to know because I've not seen the movie. Right. I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_01But did Jake we talked to him about it, he's seen the movie. No, I don't think you mentioned the movie. I don't absolutely not. Right. I don't think I think that and maybe in their conversations they were like, oh, this is funny, blah, blah, blah. But like there needed to be a setup that, like, the the club was he was possessed by the club. Like, you know what I'm saying? Like, there was no setup there. So then I don't think there was any setup.
SPEAKER_02It's like a 15-second ad. Right.
SPEAKER_01That's what I'm saying. There wasn't. I agree. But that's why I'm saying, like, okay, if that's what you're calling, then there needs to be footage that you've cut out of this ad where you showed yourself being possessed by the club. So put it out. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I don't know. I think it's I just think it's the the takeaway from all of it is like so dumb. But then the question is, like, have we like have we stopped? That's what I always come back to. Like, have we like, do we have like any ability to like laugh at ourselves? Now, I'm not saying we should be laughing at this. I am not. You're saying, like, are they done for good? And I don't think they will be. I think they'll come back. And I think most of frankly, most of the people who follow them, who buy their shit, and who think of a like they'll they'll be fine. They're not it's like they're not running for Congress. I mean, do you remember when what's his name? The comedian from Al Jeez now. From what? He basically got cancelled and he had to resign from Congress. Al Franken. I don't remember that. What do you do? He they found a video clip. There was like a clip or something, and he there it was him some they were on oh god, well, I don't remember what they were doing, but they were doing some like air and space type of thing, and the woman was sleeping, and there was a clip of him like grabbing her boobs while she was sleeping, and it surfaced after he had been elected to Congress. And well, that's not the same. But he was I mean, he was joking, and he was like incredibly remote.
SPEAKER_01That's not the same.
SPEAKER_02I don't know if he actually touched her, he was like pretending to.
SPEAKER_01First of all, she was asleep, so he was doing something to her, right? It was not for anything, like they weren't making an ad, we're like, ha ha, I'm selling beer, let me honk her boobs. Like, no, that's completely different, and I'm glad Al Franken was told to leave Congress. Like, we don't need someone like that leading our country. We have plenty of them. So Al Franken.
SPEAKER_02She did also, I take it back. She didn't know. She accused him of sexual misconduct of exactly right, of also um forcibly kissing her, too. So I mean, not good. And then seven other people who've got a few.
SPEAKER_01I'm not comparing the two. Not the same, not the same. Um now here's the thing. And I I have this conversation about I I flip flop, so I'm I'm noting that in myself. I believe that there are things like moments in your life where you learn some, you learn a lesson, yes, and you are better for it, and you absolutely do not deserve to like never have a career again. And in this specific scenario where they made a joke that was A, not funny, B really misplaced, but also they went into it making a joke. I do believe that that's something that you should be allowed to learn from and come back from. What I don't believe you should be allowed to learn from and come back from is if we caught this guy pushing a woman down in real life, like those things are different. He made a mistake. That team.
SPEAKER_02Although apparently none of those rules apply to the president of the United States. Well, that's a whole other conversation.
SPEAKER_01But it's that it's honestly that same, that same thing. Like people that are following good, good, the people that are supporting our president, they don't give a fuck who he touches when he's not allowed to. And that's why they're disgusting, and they have voted him into office now twice. But that's besides the fact. We're not getting political. I'm political, I have no problem talking about politics. But what I'm going to say is that those two things are different to me, which is why I don't believe that good, good. I to be honest, like I blame Callaway and that team for allowing this to represent their multi-that must be like a billion dollar company, their multi, multi-million billion dollar company. Allowing that ad to represent them, like there's a lot of people. You idiots.
SPEAKER_02You right, you idiots. If the good, good guys didn't know any better, Callaway marketing they didn't know better.
SPEAKER_01Like that play golf for fun on the internet, right? You can learn from that lesson. And that can be something that you did and you you've been shown perspective, and you will never joke about something like that before. And I'm not saying that you shouldn't already know that, but what I'm saying is that sometimes people don't know better or they think things are allowed to be funny or whatever. The the fact that Callaway, whoever at Callaway needed to sign off on that being posted, right? It's like embarrassing. Like no one should ever want to play with a Callaway club again. They're fools.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Well, bad marketing team, that's for sure. Something said. Yeah, they're they hire, they do not hire top talent over there. I mean, it's a little crazy. I just that to me is like stunning in this day and age. But I guess we'll see what happens with good, good, and calloway. What's interesting is there have been so many ads that have come out.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um all these other like redoing it. Women focused. Um, there's one. Well, there was one I just saw, I can't remember which company it was. There's a woman and she pulls another woman up off the ground. Yeah. And there's another ad that where the person's like, we play nice with everyone. Like, I mean, it's been like a wonderful opportunity for all these other people.
SPEAKER_01People are gonna take their shot, which like I get. Um it's fine, they should. Yeah, I think they deserve a little flat back, whatever. Whatever. Like, do whatever you're gonna do. I think that, you know, at the end of the day, the woman pulling the other woman up, like it doesn't the same, and whatever.
SPEAKER_02Like, but I just think the fact that everybody's out there being like, I'm donating all this money to domestic abuse. Okay. Right, like, and thank you.
SPEAKER_01That's great.
SPEAKER_02I mean, but I this wasn't this wasn't a support. I mean, this was just a bun stupid thing, but it wasn't I mean, clearly wasn't supporting domestic abuse. Again, not if it was not in really poor taste.
SPEAKER_01In incredibly poor taste. And you know what? Maybe someone will really disagree with us. And that's okay.
SPEAKER_02That's okay. Everybody's entitled to their opinion. And um, yes, what uh oh, I was just are we done with this topic?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we are. I was gonna move on. We can only say like so many times that we don't support the ad. Like, I don't we don't need to keep saying exactly.
SPEAKER_02We don't support the ad. Um, so before we go, before we go, we're not gonna do like games every single time, but we will come back to them because some people did enjoy them.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_02Um, but do give me um, I don't know, maybe like a love and hate for the week.
SPEAKER_01Okay. So I am what am I loving right now? Well, it's not like right now, but well, it is, I guess. My best friend Liv just moved, I don't know if I have said this on the podcast, but she just moved back from Connecticut with her husband. And I knew that they were gonna move like low, like we're from generally around here, not exactly where I live, but like in the vicinity. So anything would have been better than Connecticut. But for a while I thought they were gonna move into Philadelphia, which, as you and I know, it's not far, but it's not the same thing as being like in the same like suburban area or in the same city area the way that like you and Jake are. Not only did she move back to the area, she moved to the town next to me. Like, if she could have moved next door, I would have loved it. But I didn't expect for her to move so close. And like we keep doing this thing where like we are having like these impromptu dinners. Like last night we were literally driving home and I texted her, What are Peter was like, see what Liv and Sam are doing? So I texted her, What are you doing? She was like, Oh, we're coming back from here and we have to stop here. I was like, Wanna meet for dinner at 7:30? She was like, Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And we keep- I didn't even realize you did that. That's so nice.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, last night we met for dinner and she texted, it was just like so. I said, like, this is literally like the life that I dreamed of. She texted me, isn't this just so fun? And I was like, Yeah, like it literally is just so fucking fun. Like, me, my best friend, my husband, and her husband, who I also fucking adore, the four of us like shooting this shit for three hours last night, after we had like such a long eventful day, it was like so easy. Like, we wouldn't have wanted to go out with like just another couple, like we would have just gone out the two of us and grabbed a meal. But we ended up just like having the funniest. We were just like cackling, like so much fun. And it's just like, you know, when you live long long distance from your best friend or you don't see them all the time, like every interaction that you have is very planned, which isn't a bad thing. Sometimes that can be like nice, and you feel like you have to really prioritize the time.
SPEAKER_00It's so nice to be like, Can you go to the house?
SPEAKER_02So we're in an hour, you know. One of my best friends, Betsy, lives basically an hour away in Doyle's town. Yeah, it's I we were just saying, I haven't seen her since I don't even remember. Yeah, it's a whole to-do to see figure out, yeah. To figure out, and it's hard, or we'll meet in the middle, but it's like not so convenient and everybody's busy. So it's really hard. We talk all the time, but I don't see all the time.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02As opposed to Jill, yeah, best friend, who lives around the corner. Yeah, she'll be like literally wandering by and stop in or walk. It's it is it makes things very fun. It really does. I see her more now. I mean, now that she's at the beach until after Labor Day, but um, I see her now more than I ever did in my life, and it's so great.
SPEAKER_01It's just like the best. So that's really what I'm loving right now. And Liv will be so happy to be getting that shout out because she goes, Are you gonna like shout me, like talk about me on the podcast? I was like, Yes, I am.
SPEAKER_02Well, there you go, Liv. This is your episode.
SPEAKER_01This is your episode. Um, hating in the same vein. So Liv texts me and is like, Do you want to go? I don't want to like put a restaurant on blast, so I guess I won't name it. But we Liv was like, Do you want to try this place? Like it was recommended to us. And Peter and I have been there three times because we keep trying to like make it work because we want to. Don't say it on camera, but I'm here after because I support local businesses, but we go again then so I'm like, sure, we can go. It is astronomically expensive, and like I don't to be fair, like that. I'm not like that. Like, I'm not splitting hairs on a bill, like, I don't care about that. Like, I want to eat good food and I won't I'll pay for it, but it's not worth the money, which is what's annoying. The menu is so small, and like Peter, uh, he might as well eat a pizza before we go. Like, it's just it's not enough. Oh, it's like little food, yeah. And the service is they're they're nice. They just it's been a it's probably been in business over a year. Like, they just do not have it together, they cannot figure it out. Well, that's not excusable. We just have like such annoying Liv explained it perfectly. She was like, I don't want to walk out of a restaurant like being worried that I didn't tally right for the amount of food that I got versus like what I right. So the funniest thing, just to close it off, Sam does not like, which is respectable of him, does not like talking shit on restaurants while you're still in the restaurant. He's like, wait until you leave. Like it's it's not respectful. And like we were sitting at the bar, so like the people could hear us, whatever. So we were joking and we like stopped.
SPEAKER_00I was like, well, we'll just like we'll just talk about it when we get out of the restaurant. So we have it.
SPEAKER_02You walked and you stood outside and talked about it.
SPEAKER_00And Sam goes, Fuck that place. Literally, the waiter was right behind us. So we laughed something. Oh, and they came out to give it to you. Whoops. Oh my god. Did the waiter say anything? Oh no, I think he was so uncomfortable. Like it was so literally Sam was the one who didn't want us talking shit in the restaurant, so he waited until he got out. Oh my god, did we laugh? Like it was so funny.
SPEAKER_01So I do hate going to restaurants that are just like not worth the money because I find it so annoying.
SPEAKER_02Well, I could tell you my the hate a restaurant that's not worth it was when I went to the restaurant at the bottom of an apartment complex. It should be unnamed in Ventner. Anyone who's listening can figure it out. I mean, the food was fine. It was good-ish.
SPEAKER_00But really expensive.
SPEAKER_02We ordered, okay. We ordered somebody, ordered a bone-in veal chop. Now, it's bring your own, so you know it's gonna be a little bit more expensive.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_02But you're not like at LeBec fan, you're not at Vetchery, you're not at a gorgeous, you're not at a gorgeous restaurant, you're in the bottom of a condo in Ventner, okay? It's fine and loud as hell, and every you know, Jew in America, like it's whatever, like a castle garden, as they call it. And we can say that because we are Jewish, right? 990 for a pork for a veal chop is insane.
SPEAKER_01I was like It's like actually crazy. It's highway robbery. I'm it it and it's like we can afford it, clearly. Right, it's not about the actual money. That's what Liv and I were saying last night. It's not actually about the money. I'm happy to spend money on a meal that's delicious, but when it sucks and like the service is spotty and you're like not enjoying the meal. And it's expensive, just feel like shit.
SPEAKER_02Yes, yes. Now that wasn't a recent hate for me, but I'm I may stick with that because it still pisses me off. And I have figured out that that is probably where I left my white denim jacket that I love because I was wearing something strapless, and I brought it, I'm sure, because I was worried I was gonna be cold in the restaurant. And when I called and left a message and said, please call me back and let me know whether my jacket is there, they did not call me back, and I have now lost my white denim jacket. Well, that host was a little disappointing. I was like, somebody's got that jacket, and I guess it was a good one. So I'm a little disappointed about that. Um, I would say loving, I have to talk about. Now, people who are listening won't be able to see my hair, but and it's not like it's oh my god, it's really good. It looks like you did it.
SPEAKER_01Like you spend time.
SPEAKER_02People with curly hair obviously don't have this problem. My hair is like loosely wavy, occasionally curly, whatever. And in the summertime, I don't straighten it. Most of the wintertime I blow it straight because I only wash it once or twice a week. And I like to have it, it's just actually easier because it starts to get kind of ratty when I leave it curly. Yeah, but in the summer, I I don't want to be bothered having to blow dry my hair, whatever. So I saw this thing on Amazon, of course. I have to know if Julie knows about it. I'm I'm I have to ask her. I know she's away, so I'm gonna have to check in with her and see because Julie has very curly hair, but I don't know if she has trouble like defining her curls. But anyway, you spend a lot of time doing it. I don't even understand the mechanism. It's like the brushes you brought, you buy, right? You buy for when you want to do like a wet brush, right? It's a it looks like a wet brush, like that you would get out of the shower and use instead of a comb. But then on the edges of it, they it has like these little like almost not like a vent, like a cutout type of thing. And I have to, I'll tell you, it's it's like wild. It's the most bizarre thing in the world. Anyway, all you do is you know, brush slash comb your hair with this thing. You don't have to do anything fancy to it. Yes. Yes.
SPEAKER_01So it's called for anyone who wants it, it's the company is bounce curl, the official curly hair wet.
SPEAKER_02And I think I bought a knockoff because I was being cheap and I was like, if it doesn't work, I want to. I bought like an $8 version. Not that they're so expensive. But I it what would you how would you describe what that is? It's got like little indented. It has like teeth on the side. Somehow. I don't know why it works. I do not understand the mechanism because you don't do anything other than the way you would normally comb out your hair or wet brush out your hair. But what they do is they sort of tell you to like make sure you go through all the way and sort of almost like flip it a little bit. And then all I did was put some, I literally flipped my head over, which I always do, put some of my curl cream in, and then just let it dry naturally.
SPEAKER_01It really does look very nice and like tame and together.
SPEAKER_02And this is after I wrapped it up in a ponytail and slept on it overnight. Right. And just pulled it out of the ponytail.
SPEAKER_01It really does look very nice.
SPEAKER_02I I'm I'm astounded. I mean, uh for people who spend all the time with all the different stuff and the diffusing and the curl cream and the spiraling and everything, I gotta tell you, for I mean, I could literally think mine was eight dollars. It is wildly worth the money. Wow.
SPEAKER_01Well, we will post a link to the brush on our Shopmai.
SPEAKER_02As we should. On our Shop Mai. I really you know what, Leah? That is gonna be how I know we made it because we are gonna have we can make a Shop Mai.
SPEAKER_01Anyone can.
SPEAKER_02I I I I spend so much time on other people's Shopmais. I know. So I think I should set up my own Shopmais. I'll put some stuff up there. Great. But do I get does that mean I get affiliate links?
SPEAKER_01You do.
SPEAKER_02Oh, really? Just from creating it? Like you don't have to get anybody's permission to do that? Nope. Oh, wow. We're about to make some money, girl. Why? Because all you do is shop and send links to other people.
SPEAKER_01Um, yeah. Yeah. Kinda. Um, I know. I was kidding.
SPEAKER_00Um, I mean, it might as well be put to good use. I completely for the better.
SPEAKER_01I mean some people make like a full living off of just like shop my only. A hundred percent. I follow all of them, so I know that very well.
SPEAKER_02They have a few more subscribers than we do. Follow each other. We're just building. Building one at a time, one at a time. All right, fantastic. Well, this is fun.
SPEAKER_01So much fun, and I'm praying that the sound is better.
SPEAKER_02Yes, um, everybody let us know.
SPEAKER_01We now have official microphones and microphones, airpods in, like, we are doing the thing. The next thing is that we will have to outsource the cameras so that it's like in high definition, and then after that, we'll have to set up a full studio. You know, there's things to come, but perfecting the audio was top my list, and I'm like, yes, I can't wait to go listen to this. And I'm praying. Oh, I pray, pray, pray, pray. All right, fingers crossed.
SPEAKER_02Okay. All right, love you. Love you.
