Price And Volume Tell You What Institutions Do
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Your indicators might be telling you the truth, but they’re telling it late. We strip trading back to the source and show how tape reading uses raw price action and volume to reveal what’s happening in real time, not 14 bars after the move is done. If you’ve ever watched RSI or MACD “confirm” right when the trade is already extended, this is the reset your process needs.
We walk through a simple framework you can apply on any chart starting today: remove every indicator, leave only candles and volume, then learn to read candle bodies versus wicks. Big bodies point to conviction. Big wicks point to rejection, especially when they show up at key levels like round numbers, prior highs, and VWAP. We also explain why volume matters so much in stock trading and day trading: it’s the vote that makes a breakout, breakdown, or bounce meaningful instead of noise.
Then we apply it to the live tape, including SPY and major movers like Tesla, and break down a clean rejection setup around SPY 480 candle by candle. The goal is simple: read sequences of behavior, not isolated signals, so you stop being the last person into a trade. If you want clearer entries, tighter risk, and fewer false confirmations, subscribe, share this with a trader who needs it, and leave a quick review so more people can find the show.

Why Indicators Make You Late
SPEAKER_00Hello fellow traders. If you trade stocks, this is one that you need to pay attention to. Today we get into forgetting about the signal and following volume. If you trade stocks, this could help you avoid the most expensive mistake that most traders make. Every indicator you use is a math-based formula and basically based on one thing. Price. Price reading the tape means cutting out the middleman entirely, allowing you to see what the institutions are doing in real time instead of 14 bars later. Studies found that professional prop traders show that over 70% of top performers rely primarily on price and volume analysis rather than derivative indicators. The simpler way to put it is the faster the read. And currently, the tape on the SPY and QQQ is telling a clear story. Let me walk you through exactly what is what the tape is saying, and we get into the mechanics of it.
Strip The Chart To Price
SPEAKER_00Problem cost of most traders is they want to ditch the indicators and read real price. As traders learn that the layer of RSI, MACD, Bolinger Bands, and Stochastic all at once, by the time the indicators hit, it's too late. So indicators agree that the move is already over and the pros are already in it, and you're reading the signal probably later than most. Reading the tape means watching the raw price and volume. No filters, no lag, no noise. You see what the institutions are doing real time, not 14 bars later. And we're gonna get into the framework of that. And three rules on any chart starting today. Step 1. Strip your chart, remove every indicator, leave only candles and volume. This forces your brain to process the actual information that the market is broadcasting. Second, study the candle bodies versus wicks. A large body means conviction. Buyers or sellers won decisively. A large wick remains rejection, well it tells rejection. Somebody showed up and said, I'm not buying it at that price. Watch for the volume at key levels if prices touch the level on light volume. It's testing if it touches on heavy volume. It's either breaking or bouncing hard. Volume is the bolt that counts. Step four. Read sequences, not single candles. A series of higher lows rising on volume is a story. Buyers are becoming more aggressive and a series of lower highs on rising volume is the opposite story. Context is everything. Screenshot these rules. These are your exact conditions before you touch any trade. Here are the exact rules. 1. Large body equals conviction. Large wick equals rejection. Rule two it is the vote. High volume is at the high level and makes the signal meaningful. And rule three, read the sequences, not the single candles, but for the patterns of behavior. Rule four, the cleanest setups are the ones where multiple candles are telling the same
Rejection Wicks As Institutional Footprints
SPEAKER_00story. The single most powerful tape reading skill is understanding rejection wicks. When the price spikes above a level and closes in well above or below it, that VIC is a recorded failure. Sometimes a failure or someone sold aggressively into the spike. The bigger wick is relative to the body, the more decisive the rejection. In liquid markets like SPY, wicks around round numbers, prior highs, and VWAP are not random, they're institutional footprints.
SPY And Tesla Examples Candle By Candle
SPEAKER_00As I pull up the actual spy tape and walk you through exactly what happened, candle by candle, here's what the tape looks like right now. Tesla's down 2.6% today, the biggest mover on the tape. Pull this up and look at it. Strip the indicators and look at the last five candles and see what it's telling you. Big bodies or big wis wicks. The single observation is your edge. I'm using today's live chart to show you exactly what these levels are right now. And anything that's mapped to real price structure so you can see and hear the live market news or levels. Not just theory. Spire approaches the uh this is historical, but the Spire approached the 480 level for the third with the third time in a week. And the first two touches had small wicks, moderate volume, and the third touch. A five-minute candle spikes above 480 and then closes back below it. A 1.2% rejection on the wick, three times the average volume. A tape reader sees that instantly, aggressively selling at 480, they short the candle with the top above the high wick. The trade works because the tape told the story before the indicator could.
Key Takeaways And Where To Watch
SPEAKER_00Now the takeaway is that the tape never lies. Learn the read price action and the volume directly. You'll never be last of the trade. We read the live tape every morning on our Discord. Come over and watch over our shoulder. Hit like and subscribe. I've dropped one or every or drop a new setup every Sunday. Trade smart and trade discipline.
