SPEAKER_02

Hey everyone, welcome to the Voice Notes Podcast. I am Janice, your host, and with me are my co-hosts and besties, Lauren and Nikki. Each week, we bring you a relaxed chat with different takes on music, entertainment, fitness, and just all around life. So whether you're driving, you're at work, you're at the gym, or just lounging, let's get into it. Speaking of Vegas and J-Lo.

SPEAKER_03

Oh shit! Wait, we gotta pull it. Okay. I mean I gotta get in the comments. There's some songs. Kids. Kids. She's just not. Please stop. Did you enjoy it? You're the J-Lo fan.

SPEAKER_02

You are the J-Lo friend. That's your girl. Go ahead. I will forever be a J-Lo fan. Yes. At this stage in my life, I just feel like she needs to change up her outfits a little bit. Okay. I am tired of kind of seeing that whole kind of like bodysuit. Like the body suit. That whole bodysuit and just showing. Yeah, very high. Like you have nothing there. Like I just even when she was doing, or she's, you know, she's doing the residency right now. Even when she comes out and she's like, Oh, she's in Vegas, that's what she was doing. Yeah, she's in Vegas right now. And she's doing kind of the showgirl vibe, right? So all her songs, she's changing the beats to it to make it more showgirl, which I get. But I think you should really stick to what you know.

SPEAKER_03

Listen, premium 2000, right? Like listen, some of the the album was hot. Yes. A few of the albums were hot.

SPEAKER_02

The Honda Six Absolutely always speaks to the favorite, favorite, favorite album. She was very Bronx. She was very just it was I love it. Oh, even when she came out acting on all these movies. I supported it. And I still support her now. Yeah. Yeah. But I just feel like you get to a point where I think you're trying so hard. You're trying too hard. You don't need to, J Look. Within your range. Within what you know. Right. It's like Janet. Janet knows she's not the best singer.

SPEAKER_01

But she's a great entertainer, dancer, and everything. You stick with what you know. Correct. She's not gonna try and do Barbara Streisand. Right.

SPEAKER_03

Jay, let's talk about why this came up. So uh J Lo attempted Barbara Streisand's signature song terrible No Random Eye Parade.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Number one, it's Barbara. So let's hold space for Barbara because Barbara. Okay, it's Babs. Okay, Barbara. We love Barbara Streisand. She's Queen. Okay, Queen. J-Lo came out singing it. Um, do we have licensing rights? I guess I'm just gonna play one of those. Just play a few seconds. Alright, give me one second.

SPEAKER_02

So I've been playing a few seconds of things.

SPEAKER_03

Alright. So the comments were the best. Let's go to the comments. Read some of those comments. Alright, here we go. So Nikki was sending skull emojis because the laughter was so hard. I think the one that got us the most was if I can't have the confidence of a mediocre white man, then please give me the confidence of Jennifer Lopez doing stuff like this. May have been our favorite one because I will tell you, JLo, and I and I do love her. Yeah. And even I mean too.

SPEAKER_01

I respect her and everything. I just need for you to just stay in your length. Stay to who you are. Nobody works.

SPEAKER_03

She worked hard. She is a hard worker. She works hard.

SPEAKER_01

Phenomenal. She's 50.

SPEAKER_03

Right, 56. She's fantastic. Phenomenal. Come on. Somebody wrote no notes. She hit none of them. No. No notes. And then there were many things. That mic is two on.

SPEAKER_01

And I put in the um in our chat up. It's like somebody said, Well, at least we know it's live.

SPEAKER_03

Yes. Absolutely. Right.

SPEAKER_01

Because that was always she lip syncs. She lip synks. And also, I want a refund, and I wasn't even there.

SPEAKER_03

Yes.

SPEAKER_02

But wait, I don't want to skip. I don't want to skip ahead to Coachella because we're going to talk about Coachella because she was a surprise guest. She came out with David Ghetto. Oh, she did? Oh, yeah. She did fantastic. She did? So that's what I'm talking about. But it's weird. She sang, um, oh my god, what's the title of the song? That she sang. I love David Ghetto. It was it was just really, really good. YouTube it or look at it on Instagram. That's all we're saying. She was saying but that was her type of vibe. That's so amusing.

SPEAKER_03

That's her thing. Barbara Streisand. But the card Barbara is like speak! Barbara Streisand, can I just say for a second? Barbara Streisand is such an OG. She is such a like also that song is one of her songs to sing ever.

SPEAKER_02

Any of Barbara Streisand. Any scale compared to her.

SPEAKER_03

So I mean, Barbara Streisand was they wanted her to get her nose fixed in the 60s, and she missed because she was like, it's gonna affect my voice. That's right. Okay. So let's do it. Now, that's one thing. Um coming out and sing with David Getta. I don't think Barbara Straisman will come swing with David Gedda because she doesn't have the quiz, but J Lo does well.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, exactly. That is her, that's it.

SPEAKER_01

That is her That's all we're saying.

SPEAKER_02

That's her vibe. All we're saying. All we're saying. But going back to Barbara Stress and I just want to shout out to Jane Fonda. Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Another one.

SPEAKER_02

Jane Fonda. Jane Fonda. How dare she perform at the Oscars? Because Robert Rafford passed. Oh. She likes to have me because I did more movies. She had a whole section. 15 minutes of stuff.

SPEAKER_04

But Jane would be like always is. Hold her out. She's like in her 80s.

SPEAKER_02

That is hilarious. These two senior women can do it. But Jay Fonda was like, uh-uh.

SPEAKER_03

She was nothing but Jay Fonda. She did with the everything with the animals. Like she doesn't care. She went to jail. She's been to jail multiple times. Like they love it. Love it. You all are in your 80s, okay? They're hilarious, though. So we do want to take a minute, though, for everybody that partakes and observes the um high holies right now, which is week one and two of Keep. Happy Coach.

SPEAKER_01

Exactly. And I will always be happy here. I love, love, love live music, but I'm just going to sit right here. I'm going to sit right here. It takes a lot to book on the city. And Dan loved it, right? Yeah, loved it.

SPEAKER_03

Complains.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. He didn't want to do it.

SPEAKER_03

And then he went and had the best time of his life. Uh-huh. But it is Coachella weekend.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, there's no way you wouldn't have had gone.

SPEAKER_03

It was no doubt. Yeah. They haven't played a show together in 12 years at that point. Yeah. Yeah. And they added them. They were mainstage Saturday night. The headliner, this was 2024, I went. So after COVID, everything's a blur. You went the first weekend or second? I went the first weekend. Saturday night, they were the headliner because uh right behind Tyler the Creator. Oh, okay. So, and then the it was Doja Cat on Sunday, and Lana Delray was Friday night. Oh, okay. So Lana. Love Lana. Yeah, Delray. Yeah. But Coachella, it really comes down to the lineup in the festival. Um, before that, there really had never been a lineup that I was like sat up and wanted to do, but that year was. And then since then has it, but then this year. This year, yeah. J Beeves.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, Justin, he did his thing. He did his thing. I loved it. Much respect. Much respect. He loved his thing.

SPEAKER_03

I watched him live at 3 o'clock this morning. Body is writing checks. Yes. That I would be dead. I'd be like, yes. But Nikki was watching it live on live stream. Yes. Yes.

SPEAKER_02

With Book Club. Shout out to Book Club. Yes. But the mere fact that he could do, he went back and he did baby. And the fact that he was a, you know, he was a child when he did that, and now he's singing it as an adult. Yeah. And you could still feel that song. I said, look at him with his uh his hair going forward.

SPEAKER_01

He looked, he looked, it was really cute.

SPEAKER_03

It was really cute.

SPEAKER_02

He's fantastic. It was a vibe.

SPEAKER_03

I wanted to vibe him. So Jay Beebs posts his lineup, right? His uh set list. Tetlist. Internet lost their mind because people were making videos, complaining. Why? Because they were like, you're not playing anything that's old, you're playing new stuff, you're closing out with daisies. One video I watched, I did appreciate the commentator. Um, she was like, Can we just be happy that he's performing? Yeah, thank you. No, because nobody's ever, ever content. Ever content. So he comes out, headliner on Saturday night, you know, destroys it. And what did he do? He took out his laptop, and what did he start doing? So talented. He started he went on YouTube, pulled up his own video videos.

SPEAKER_01

And he was asking them what he wanted them to do. Yes, what they wanted him to say. I mean, come on. So bad.

SPEAKER_02

When he did Beauty and the Beat. Takes me back to Kimura. Yeah. Her elementary school party. Yeah. Weren't you her elementary school party? No, we didn't know you guys by then, right?

SPEAKER_03

Even I remember Evan telling me about it quite a bit.

SPEAKER_01

I've been thinking about all the ones that are like hardcore, like Bieber fans. You know, like I love Kimura, Becca. Exactly. You know, feel it. You know, shout out to Becca. She's going to Coachella on Wednesday. Yes, girl. I can't wait to hear about it. And you know, Beck's gonna post all the pictures of it. Of course. All the videos. Of course. Yeah, girl.

SPEAKER_03

Secondhand excitement. So much baby.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. I love to see the other artists as well that popped up. I know J B was the headliners. Yeah. But the showcase would air.

SPEAKER_03

I want to go back to that real quick. Yeah. Just finished with JB. He, all that complaining. So that means that he knew who he was bringing out because Kid LeRoy came out. Yes. I forget who else came out.

SPEAKER_02

Those two, um, they're, I don't know if they're Reagan and Reggae came out.

SPEAKER_03

Dijon came out.

SPEAKER_02

Reggae artists. Are they reggae artists?

SPEAKER_03

That whiskey fantastic. No whiskey. Whiskey came out.

SPEAKER_01

Thames. Thames.

SPEAKER_03

So that tells you.

SPEAKER_01

So just remember. And then he had MKG at the end with uh Daisies.

SPEAKER_03

Thanks. So that's you need to calm down. If an artist posts their set list and you're you're going to Coachella, Coachella is all about who comes out. Right. Billy Eilish came out with Lana Del Rey. Exactly. Okay, like Olivia Rodrigo came out with no doubt. That's right. There have been Carol G came out when she's tonight. She's out. Yeah. So if you're going to Coachella and you're going for the music, you are going to have the best time of your life because the artists are everywhere. The present and in the moment and enjoy it. I was actually talking about over the weekend with a few people. I was like, do not believe what the influencers post. Because when they post the stuff, it's very they never show you the music. They don't show you who's who's performing. It's all about the house they're staying and the vegan pizza they're eating and how dusty it is and whatever. And the strawberry sandwich that costs $30. Okay. But if you're going for the music, which now I'm going to talk about some of the people that came out, you're going to have the best time. So go ahead. You were talking about it.

SPEAKER_01

I was loving it just watching it on YouTube. The strokes, uh XX, right? Oh, the XXX. Noga Aris, the the the singer that I love from um Israel. Yep. She was there. Oh, yeah, Nova Aris. Yes. Loved it. I loved it. What's her name? Yeah, Noga Aris. She's the one that sings uh The Vandalist, that song. I never heard of it. I got a still album. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

She's from Um Israel, I believe. I had a message from one of my friends who's from LA, and she was um so excited because Big Bang is there, K-pop band Big Bang. So she's like, they are the OJs of K-pop. I don't know because I'm not a K-pop person. No meeting fantastic. They were good? Okay. She was like so exciting, and she said, I've never been this let down since the year that I missed the Tupac hologram.

SPEAKER_01

I'm never gonna be over that. Like ever. Since 2012. That's illegal to do something that's 2012. That's freakish. You should not do that. So sorry. You should not do that. That's some freakish stuff. He's freakish.

SPEAKER_03

I've never felt so left out since the Tupac hologram in 2012. I was a yeah, girl, I get it. So shout out to my man. He's waiting for me on the other side. When we just talk about how Tupac in the Nike is oh my gosh, I can't. That's gonna be another tangent. We need Do you know somebody trying to tell me recently that there's an interview, there's an interview on the internet where he this the way the person said it to me was he was speaking properly and not ghetto. And I was like, so I was like cocked my head inside.

SPEAKER_01

I remember people used to always tell me that I speak like a white girl. I'm like, what does that mean? What does that mean? So because I talk in full sentences, yeah, punctuation. I'm sorry that is so wrong.

SPEAKER_03

I mean, like, what are we talking about? I was like, send me the video, I would like to see it, but I was like, why are you a very talented man, and I can watch the many interviews where he's very eloquent.

SPEAKER_02

The nose ring. The nose ring. Tupac talking about Tupac right now. Perfect. Yeah, bald head, perfect bald head. Did he have children? Because we can't make him hot dad of the week.

SPEAKER_03

The one he um rumors about a son or daughter often stem from his lyrics. Yeah. But I have seen he was briefly married to Keisha Morris. Yeah. Then he was engaged to Kadata Jones. But I've seen there's somebody that has been interviewed and looks exactly like so. Tupac did not have any biological children or legally recognized. Or that we know of. That we know of. Um, but there is somebody who I have to look this up that was interviewed who looks exactly like him, and I'm wondering if that is Well, no, Demetrius Ship Jr., he's recognized for the uncanny resemblance, but it's not his son.

SPEAKER_01

Maybe he probably played him in a movie or something, but he was in the all-eyes on me movie.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, he was in the all-eyes on me movie, which is Tupac's album. Yeah, in the movie. So that's never had a son or a daughter. Oh we can't. So you're clean out, yes, and the CDs. Yes, yes. And I texted Kiki and I said, Well, uh, I will tell you this that when I was in London, the girls I was with were telling me that um their favorite uh artist is Leve. And Leve, I'm kind of new to Leve, but Leve's new album is coming out. Leve her. She's Swedish, I think. Swedish, yeah. She's Swedish. Beautiful girl. Oh, she's very like the music is uh reminds me a lot of uh like a Bjork, but not as Bjork as Bjork is, but there's a really like ethereal vibe to it. Okay, very she's very talented too. She loves never heard of her. Yeah, Leve. But Leve, the pre-order included a CD. You can get a C D or you can get a vinyl. Wow. And so that's what I was saying to Kiki this morning. I'm like, I think they're coming back. I think CDs are coming back. I hope so. It's immersive music. I have my CD.

SPEAKER_02

I have that, I have my CD player. Cassette player at the cassette. Yeah, we do too.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I just can't get rid of old movies. Yeah. Honestly, there's there's a push for immersive music. Um, we've talked about this before. Why having the iPod shuffle is so great if you still have your iPod working, because everything is on our phone and it's interrupted constantly between phone calls and stuff like that or text messages, but there is a push to have um completely immersive musical experiences, and you get that with CD's tapes, vinyl. Like we we have a whole vinyl set up at our house, and you actually can't skip it, which is a weird thing because you're so used to being like Alexa, skip it. Yeah, absolutely.

SPEAKER_01

Remember, we had the CD player in your car. Oh, yeah. And then you will interchange everything.

SPEAKER_03

I love CD disc changer, absolutely. Yes.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, I'm all for streaming. It's different. I it's made it definitely easier, but I just feel like I can never get the full experience.

SPEAKER_03

Experience. And we don't own any media. This is a problem too. Like people are saying, like, well, we don't own it. Because you're right, because it's like we used to physically own it. I mean, the artwork itself was everything. Yeah. All the information. Yeah. So I I think it's an uptick on it. Maybe it's kind of niche, it's hard to transfer and transport. I get it, but I'm just glad that we lived through it.

SPEAKER_01

Like we had that and had those memories because there's just nothing like it. I agree. Yeah, just nothing like it at all.

SPEAKER_02

But I do want to go back to Kelly. So back to Hotel. Yeah, who have you watched? Did you see Kaylani? No. I didn't see her yet. Of course, that song Folded is just so popular. Loved, loved, loved her performance. Okay. And then I forgot who the speaking of K-pop, he is beautiful. He's just so beautiful. But he's a K-Popper. He came out all in white. And he's in that category of K-pop. I for is it Tay Taymon? Tay Min. Tay Min?

SPEAKER_03

T-A-E-M-I-N.

SPEAKER_02

That's who it is. T-A-E-M-I-N.

SPEAKER_03

Isn't he so cute? He's handsome, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

He is so handsome. But the way he performs, it was just 32. He was fantastic. So I enjoyed that one. Okay. Um, and Teddy swims. Oh, yes, he brought one of the Jonas brothers.

SPEAKER_01

Well, he brought Joe Jonas a lot. Joe is the favorite my favorite one. Oh yeah. Yeah, always been. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

So he is a hot dad too. Joe Jonas. And then he also brought up Vanessa Carleton. That's it. Oh my goodness. Ordinary day.

SPEAKER_02

It was that's going back. Yeah, a thousand miles. So can we talk about Sabrina Carpenter a little bit? Yeah, people were talking about this. So I didn't see her performances yet. I don't know. I don't know what she's saying. Did she say live? She did. Oh, okay. At least I think she did. Okay. Sometimes you can't tell. Look at the therapy.

SPEAKER_03

I will say this that she, when we went to Coachella, I will look up what Yuri went. I think it was look up in a second. Uh when I went when we went to Coachella, Sabri was there, Sabri was there. She was like, I swear, on stage, like Q. And she was not a headliner. And I got the most messages about her, Olivia Dean. And Olivia Dean was there. And we love Olivia Dean. Yeah. Love her. And um, I would see her on concert too. Yeah, I would see. For sure. There's a third person people are messaging. Those people have all gone on to have like explosions in their career. But I did see a video about Sabrina this year.

SPEAKER_01

No doubt it was 2024.

SPEAKER_03

That was 2024. Oh, it was only two years ago. Yeah, two years ago. So 2024. So Subri was like, you know, on on like Friday afternoon at like two o'clock or something like that. And then here she's a headliner. I think she was headliner or she was she was headliner yesterday.

SPEAKER_02

Headliner yesterday?

SPEAKER_03

Uh Friday. Friday. Friday. So they were like talking about her opening with the stars on the stage, and they're like, oh, it's so it was so ingenious. I didn't think it was that ingenious. I watched it and I was kind of let down. Wait, it was stars? It was like they were stars, and she like walked up and like tapped them with her toe. And that's ingenious? Yeah, I was not feeling that.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. I just again did it seem like it was okay. I I get it. Old like I'm I'm I'm looking at my Madonna picture, right, right, across from me, right? And I think of the sexuality of Madonna in the 80s, right? She was very, just very out there or whatever. Yeah. Now you fast forward and you look at Sabrina Carpenter, and that's I think that's her vibe. Is that what she's trying to be? I I I asked with the lace, with that no, not Madonna, but with the lace. I think she's just being very sexual. Like I don't know how to explain it, but it's like like over in in abundance like trying too hard, trying too hard, right? And I just feel like girl, you're such a beautiful, like calm it down a little bit. But everyone's you know though, and she's also a writer.

SPEAKER_03

She writes all of her own music. Yes. CBS Sunday Morning Had interview and she writes all of her own music.

SPEAKER_02

I think they asked her about the album cover, her latest album cover, which is a little racy. Oh, I gotta look this up. So she's like in doggy style, like position, and there's uh a man, or I think he's like in a suit or something like that. And they're either grabbing her hair, she's like in a chokehall or something like that. What did she say about it? She said it's her. Does it matter? Doesn't matter what people like.

SPEAKER_03

Who was that who acts her on CBS under Money? Oh, I don't know. It wasn't Jane Paulie, though. Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_02

Do you think you know people are talking a lot about your latest album cover? And she's like, But the album's also not that good.

SPEAKER_03

Is it it's good? I haven't heard it. I hate to say this. So the album before I'm not in a rush though. Right. I don't like I probably won't like this is so funny because Sabrina Carpenter falls in the category of like, I shouldn't like her. Like I just on paper really shouldn't like her. But I do like her, and I liked the album before, the one that had Espresso on it. Espresso. Yeah. That was such a hit. Great album. Yeah. Oh my goodness. And she does, listen, to her credit, this is her album cover? Yes. Yes. It's a throwback to 19 late 1960s artwork. There's been but it kind of hit hit really hard here because you have to remember the time period we live in and like who your client's space is. Exactly. Yeah, exactly. That's what I'm trying to say. And then the album is just not to me as good as the album before. Yeah. The um, like Man Child, I don't think is that great. Um I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

So it's sort of like for me, like this phase that she's going through. I listen, I'm gonna be real, I'm just gonna say what I want to say because I know there's Sabrina Carpenter fans out there, whatever, they're probably like saying, What are you talking about? She's going through a phase, I think, right? It's almost like the Ariana Grande phase. Now, Ariana, Ariana Grande, for me, it was like, at what point are they gonna stop making her look like a little girl? Sure. You have these grown, perverted men who are still looking at her like she's some sort of young girl, and she's not. How old is Ariana guy? She's in her 30s already. Um stop it with the ponytails, start dressing her a little bit more maturely. No matter what, she's still Ariana. She's 32. She's 32, so I'm saying besides

SPEAKER_03

Oh, I used to say when I first when I first because Ariana Gande, I I'm too old to be in the city. Sabrina's 26. Yeah. And I know that they're both Nickelodeon kids, right? They're both like Ariana Gande for a long time. I was like, all whoever's styling her, and I know she I know she's Ariana Gande is like uh she's a Givenchy model. I mean she's been on Wicked. I mean she she has had an incredible career. But whoever was styling her is to me playing up a very twisted version of womanhood.

SPEAKER_01

And that was for a long time.

SPEAKER_02

And she has a great voice, and she doesn't need to show Ariana will always be Ariana no matter what. She's alright, no matter what. You could put her in a pantsuit or whatever, she will always still be Ariana.

SPEAKER_03

And her voice is out of control. Incredible. She worked like for wicked. When you when you listen to, she she trained, I think, for six months to audition. Yes. To audition. Like so that she works for her. We're not taking away any of that. No, none of that is the image that you're putting out. Right. Yeah. To quote mad men, did you get to the point where the guy cut Peggy's ponytail? And what did Joan tell her? Yeah. If you want to start with taking seriously, stop dressing like a little girl. So exactly. Exactly.

SPEAKER_01

But also sometimes the way Ariana, like, you know, walks or acts or something like that. And like the talking and everything. Like, you know.

SPEAKER_02

It's like Billie Eilish. I remember watching an interview with Billie Eilish where she had mentioned that she doesn't, she dresses the way she dresses because she wants people to focus on her voice. Yep. It's all about her voice. It's not how she looks or what she wears. I mean, you are gonna see it, but I respect her so much.

SPEAKER_01

But she wants the uh but that's a highlight to be her voice.

SPEAKER_03

Her voice all women are looking for. Like I was having this conversation with somebody recently about professionalism, and I and it's kind of an existential conversation we're having, but I was like, boil it down. What do you want to be evaluated as as a woman? What do you want to be evaluated and known for? You want to be known for your work ethic. Absolutely. You want to be known for your responsibility, you want to be held in the same realm and level as counterparts, and we'll just leave it at that. You know, I want to be respected for the work that I do, not how I'm dressed, not how glamorous I look, not those things. So women are always working really hard to just be valued for the work that we do and what we're able to accomplish, right? And seen for that, and seen for that, like and not for anything, yeah. You guys know it's like the amount of times I've had anything else that's not as important, right? Like, you know, we've had situations like I've had I've been in situations professionally where I'll be speaking to somebody about some topic that is whatever, yeah, and they'll look at me and they'll go, Wow, you're like really smart. And then the instead, and then the the first time I'm like, Well, that's odd. And then they say it again in conversation, and I'm like, Well, that was intentional. And by the third time, I'm gonna make a response. The third time I'll go, Yeah, and they let me drive here myself, right? You know, like, and I'll call the person out. So you're being looked at and spoken to that way, and so then you cast it now into like that goes back to like, yeah, you sound like you know, you you sound like a white girl.

SPEAKER_01

Like, what does that even mean? What are you talking about?

SPEAKER_02

Right. Like, what does that even mean? Like, what are people supposed to sound like? What are people supposed to look at?

SPEAKER_03

What is your preconceived notion as to what's that supposed to sound like? Yeah, it's it's very condescending. I sound like it is, it is. So you take, unfortunately, and this is you know, do we love Ari? We love Ari. I do. Do I love Bri Bri? I love Sabre Bri. I do. Um they are both exceptionally talented human beings. Sabrina Carpenter in the interview she did with CBS Sunday morning. One of the things they asked her was, What do you uh think the biggest myth misconception is about your career? And she's like, people that people think that I don't write my music, I write everything. Now, whether she writes with people, whatever, that's fine, but she's like, I write everything.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. I appreciate you.

SPEAKER_03

Listen, and when she when she got big with Espresso, I think that was her ninth album. So she No way! Yeah, when you look at her album nine? So she's been singing like at what age did she start? She was a Nickelodeon Disney kid. She had like a shift in career. Oh. So she's been writing. And I I know people who took their kids to see her at Great Adventure for um like one of the concerts like 10, 12 years ago.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I missed the Great Adventure concert. Oh, that was the first concert was.

SPEAKER_03

Licking nose lips. Well, Nicki. Nikki could have been Miss Pool J. Yeah. Because Shonda Mel, we were like, Where?

SPEAKER_01

Great adventure seats. And I have proof. Yeah, you have photo, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

You have photo with a bit of a there's no picture, it didn't happen. Exactly. You just in the picture.

SPEAKER_01

Exactly. That receipt.

SPEAKER_03

But I think you look at the artist and you're like, Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So now she is going through a phase. Maybe you know, hopefully, like she's listening. I don't know.

SPEAKER_03

She's playing up, the hair is getting really whether she isn't or not.

SPEAKER_02

I just feel it's a phase. Um look, we ride with our artists through phases though. We do, that's right. Absolutely do. I respect her, I respect her talent.

SPEAKER_01

I don't listen to her enough to like really. Just look at her performances, just look at her performances.

SPEAKER_03

She works really hard. Maybe I'm being hypocritical because when you look at it.

SPEAKER_02

When you look at Jayla, when you look at all these other girls, they're all kind of doing the same thing. Like you look at Cardi B, like you know, her butt was sticking all out throughout the performance. I mean, I get it. Why are you doing that?

SPEAKER_03

There's another conversation that I don't think is appropriate for this, but we could have this offline.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

But I spin that exact feeling into other conversations because women are always trying so hard to not be evaluated and evaluated. Objectify. We're really honestly trying not to be objectified. Um, I will objectify a man in a second. Everybody knows that because that's 100%. Thank you very much. But for women, I do not, I won't, because that's what I think most women are trying to be evaluated and valued, not on how we look, not on how we dress. I don't know. And it makes it harder because that's what they're leaning into.

SPEAKER_02

Because a woman, look at women are beautiful. I mean, oh for goodness sake. Look at our makeup. Women get everything that we do. If you exactly, like we are a strong bodiment, and it's just when you see women, I just like say, okay, girl, like you could do a little little moves, yep, yep, yep, because I know that that's what the market wants, right? That's music. That's the market. That's what's the market. I get it. But then don't do the whole performance, like, just switch it up a little bit. That's it. But whatever. Well, and maybe it's the mom and me. I don't know.

SPEAKER_04

Maybe not the 52-year-old now, but maybe in my 20s, I'd be like, let's go. Is that the janites in the back? We've been out there for 12 hours. We have one we were like Janice in Tennessee. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

We will not go into that. Our hot dad of the week segment.

SPEAKER_04

It's time for a melody.

SPEAKER_02

So this week we have Roman Reigns. Oh my gosh. Roman Reigns. Now, if you're not in the wrestling world, maybe you don't know about Roman Reigns, but those who love wrestling will know that this man is definitely a hot dad. I have to google him. He needs to cut his hair.

SPEAKER_01

What? Blast people. That is blasting people. You know I don't like long hair. Except I love it. On the movie, we don't recommend.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

We need the walls.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, of course. That's old though.

SPEAKER_01

That's 90s. Yes. For the times in the 90s. For the times in the 90s, you know. Tristan?

SPEAKER_02

Tristan. And that name is beautiful too. I know. I love that name. I feel like you cannot name your child Tristan unless you know he's gonna be a gorgeous blonde man in the future.

SPEAKER_03

And it's don't use that name. That's such an iconic movie. Such an iconic movie.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I like uh long hair. Yes. And sometimes on Jason Momoya, but go ahead.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, Jason Momoa. Well, if you like Jason Momoa, you might like Roman Reigns.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Guess not. It was a emphatic, I don't like it.

SPEAKER_04

Oh my god. He doesn't love it. I like it. I like it.

SPEAKER_03

You love it, I like it. What is the one time you were like, sing, dance, and have a good time? What did you say about eating? You're like, sing, dance, and have a good time. Don't ask me. Roman Reigns has been making videos on Instagram, hasn't he?

SPEAKER_02

Like, I yeah. So Roman Reigns has been in the wrestling world for years. Great tattoo, though. And I'll tell you, it's all these Hawaiian men, I'm telling you, these Samoan men. So he is related to The Rock. You know, they're all cousin. Oh, I didn't know that. Yeah, they're related.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, okay. And there's my cousin. He's like my cousin.

SPEAKER_02

They're cousins. Oh, yeah. Yeah, because we can, you know, we can have a lot of people. Like you could be all the cousins. Yeah. Everyone has a cousin. A cousin, cousins, and my third, fourth cousin. No, but they are little. Oh, that makes total sense. And then Jay Uso, and the Uso brothers on WWE also, they are Samoan and they're also cuties. I'm not sure if they're dads. But anyway, Roman Reigns. Um he's been in the wrestling world for a bit. It's a nice name. And he has now stepped up to like being one of the top contenders or top WWE entertainers. I can see he is about, so they're about to do WrestleMania. He is about to go against CM Punk. Oh, that's not his real name. Oh, it's Samoan.

SPEAKER_03

It's Liati Joseph Anoia. There you go.

SPEAKER_02

You're right. Yeah. Yeah.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

It's not bad. It's not like that. It's not bad. Yeah, no, it's not his name's like Melvin or something.

SPEAKER_02

But he wasn't born in Hawaii, believe it or not. I think he's Florida. Yeah. Yeah. So uh yes, he's Oh, he got five kids.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Yes. Oh. When he had his fifth kid, he was diagnosed with leukemia. Oh. Yep. So he had to go through those treatments. He got better, and then that's when he came back to WWE. And he has been great since. Oh, good for him.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I'm happy he's doing well.

SPEAKER_03

His father was also a wrestler, Sika Anois. Yes. And that's a famous ring name Sika.

SPEAKER_01

Yep. Oh, he has two sets of twins.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, wow. Yep.

SPEAKER_02

Sure does. Okay. Sure does. Oh, I'm glad he's doing well. So um he is hot out of the week. He's 6'3. Oh, I do like his height.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, Nikki's converting.

SPEAKER_02

We gotta convert. Alright. Except the long hair. But listen, he when he puts it back, he comes out very clean. Oh, okay. Maybe back in the wrestling. Wait, he wears a bun? Like, well, he no, so you see, he has it. Listen, he has it like a little. Remember that bad. No, he has it little tight on the end so that when he pushes it back and he puts it like in a bun like this. Yeah, okay. It's nice. It's very neat. Very neat.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I like it neat and clean.

SPEAKER_02

But he is hot hot.

SPEAKER_03

I'll show myself out.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

We're gonna exit stage love.

SPEAKER_04
