In this episode, hosts Janice, Lauren, and Nikki welcome their first guest, Brittany, to discuss their shared passion for Disney. The group explores the phenomenon of "Disney adults," reflecting on how skeptics can be converted into fans through the immersive atmosphere and high-quality details of the theme parks. Much of the conversation centers on personal favorites, with the women debating the best princess films and Pixar franchises while sharing their specific connections to characters like Cinderella and Ariel. They also critique the differences between original animated classics and modern live-action remakes, noting how the absence of music or iconic sidekicks can change the experience. Finally, the dialogue highlights how nostalgia and family experiences continue to shape their appreciation for the brand across different generations.

SPEAKER_04

Hundreds and hundreds. I think we're on our way.

SPEAKER_02

I think we are too. So today we have our very first official, official guest here with us today. Our girl. And we're so excited that she has decided to join us. And that took the time to join us, I should say. And that is Brittany. Say hello.

SPEAKER_05

Hello, everybody. And just for the record, you are the only podcast I listen to. Hey!

SPEAKER_04

Look at that. This is why. This is why you're the only podcast. This is one. Thank you, Britt. Thank you, Brittany.

SPEAKER_02

She's a real one.

SPEAKER_03

That's clear.

SPEAKER_02

So we have Britney here because we're going to talk all things Disney. My favorite. All about Disney this week. And I know this week. Absolutely. That there are a lot of people out there who love Disney. Like until I met you guys, I didn't know people who loved Disney as much as you guys do.

SPEAKER_04

That's interesting. Really? Have you had no Disney adults in your life? Never.

SPEAKER_02

And then I started meeting more and more people and people who go like every year, religiously, like every year. And I'm like, what is it about Disney? And we actually went with you guys.

SPEAKER_05

And I will rem I remember at the end of the day, because you only did one official day in Disney. We did dinners in Disney, but you had one park day. And at the end of the day, I remember you turned to me and you looked at me and you went, I get it.

SPEAKER_02

I get it. I get it. I definitely get it.

SPEAKER_05

And you were like, I understand staying on property. I understand the allure. Yes. And that made me so happy.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, thank you. You converted me. But you are also a princess, though.

SPEAKER_05

That was only a villain.

SPEAKER_04

You can be a crown.

SPEAKER_05

I've been my villain era. We can't have some villains. We can't wait to see it.

SPEAKER_04

And the villain kids.

SPEAKER_05

A villain can still wear a crown.

SPEAKER_04

Villain can still wear a crown.

SPEAKER_05

Villain can still wear a crown.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Earth villain wears a crown. Of course.

SPEAKER_02

She was a queen. Yeah. She was. They're just evil queens.

SPEAKER_04

There's nothing like experience in Disney with Britney. Yeah. When we have gone and we've we've gone uh I guess since when Scar was Scarlet.

SPEAKER_05

Well, I think we went once, we went for our five years. Five years. And then you came in with Scarlet.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

So I want to say you went two, maybe three.

SPEAKER_04

But I defer to I defer to whatever she tells me. She knows this. Like oh, absolutely. I didn't even know what to pick. She did my shopping cart. And she was like, I was like, just send me the link and I'm gonna check out. That's it. Just pay the $200. That's it. Just put some money in. That's it. So I think that's it. And you have an incredible time too because she has planned it. And you're like, you tell me where to be, what I need to do. And even Dan, who can be a curmudgeon, he turned around and saw Tinkerbell fly from one of the castles.

SPEAKER_01

And he was like, This is so great.

SPEAKER_04

You know what I mean? Like, you can't not have a good time.

SPEAKER_05

And the food, the quality of food that you can't not every place you have to know where you're going, but the quality of food can be like very good for sometimes the price point. Like we went to Woody's Roundup, which is all barbecue. Yeah. It was like $40 a person, $45 a person. And it's worth it. Right. All inclusive. As much as you can eat, they will continually bring you out more food if you ask for more.

SPEAKER_02

But we're gonna do a deep on that. What I want to know is how your love of Disney started.

SPEAKER_05

Growing up, we always had the Disney Channel, and I like loved the Disney movies. I'm a Cinderella girl. I love Cinderella. She's so kind. I aspire to be like that one day. I'm not there yet, but maybe one day.

SPEAKER_04

It's a process.

SPEAKER_05

But as a kid, I hated Disney because I didn't like the rides. I was a scaredy cat, but I did not like the rides. And I remember I went with my dad and his cousin Vanessa, and they took us and I hated it. And then we went in 2000. I loved it. Really? The best thing I had ever done in my whole life. And it like 2000, they had this whole celebration for the millennium.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, of course. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Amazing. They had this parade with um these giant puppets. I can't, like, you would have to YouTube it. It was amazing. And I remember it was not just about the rides, but it was like the feel and the aura. And I was just like, this is a good idea. Nobody does celebrate.

SPEAKER_04

Nobody does celebrations like them. Like, nobody does celebration. Nobody does detail-oriented things like this. You look and you're just like, there's mouse ears, and there's and there's fireworks, and like it's the best time you're gonna have.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, those mouse ears have developed throughout the years. Oh, because I just I remember the standard black ears, right? And then now all of a sudden you have oh, there's so many so many variations of ears. You're getting like custom shade and everything. It's so awesome.

SPEAKER_04

I got my first pair of mouse ears though with Britney. With Brittany, and I've been there before. I was like, I just need my mouse ears. I got black though. Yeah, yeah. So of course of course eventually I'll probably get like 49er ones or something like that. Oh, that's right. I'm sure they have them. Or maybe like dolphin ones, that would be really great. Like dolphins, yeah. Blue dolphin ones, you know, whatever. But yes. They have evolved over the years. I love seeing all the custom made ones. It's pretty cool.

SPEAKER_02

So, what's your favorite movie? Should we do top three?

SPEAKER_05

Well, okay, so I can do like my favorite princess movie, and then I can do like my favorite Pixar movie. Let's do that. But I can't do like all-time movie. Pixar too much. That's fair too much. Fair, fair. Um let's do Pixar first because that's an easy one. It's gotta be well, it has to be the whole franchise Toy Story. Of course. Of course. It has to be a Toy Story followed closely by um Inside Out. Oh, Inside Out! So Closely By. Elemental was an amazing movie.

SPEAKER_04

Oh I gotta see that. You gotta watch Elemental and I'm so into the soundtrack today. Really? I love Elemental. Yes, um. Inside Out is a well, Toy Story is genius. It's amazing. We we just saw the preview for five. Yes and like dance comes in, I like team it up. And then uh Inside Out and Inside the Inside Out franchise is genius. Like I love it. I love it. I love all the feelings and the emotions. You can guess which one I am. So joy. Yes, to not Disney movies. Now Disney icon movies. Like Disney movies.

SPEAKER_05

My my favorite princess, obviously, is Cinderella. I will say I probably have watched Pocahontas more than I've really watched. Get out of his music is just so good. Interesting. Um so my favorite princess is Cinderella, but I have to say Pocahontas.

SPEAKER_02

So it's a tie.

SPEAKER_05

Pocahontas, and she has like the least amount of merch in there in Pocahontas. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Because of the city.

SPEAKER_05

Probably because it's offensive. Yeah. It's like, well, because it didn't, but you know, everyone got something to say.

SPEAKER_03

So of course they're like offended. Yeah, such a movie. I'm even sure it was a real person.

SPEAKER_05

Like, are the events in a children's movie 100% historical? No. No, but she was a really she's not a fictional character. She was just real. Yeah, exactly. I don't know why it's what it is.

SPEAKER_04

Was it was hand-drawn, was one of the hand-drawn ones, or would you think was Jiji? Uh no, because it came out in the 90s. 90s, so it probably was still hand-drawn? I guess. It's a beautiful movie. Like, I think I've only seen it once. Vanessa Williams. And Vanessa Williams singing songs about it. Yes. When I say goodbye to somebody, I send that gif. You all the time. I am Alcohanness on the mountain. Oh.

SPEAKER_05

And what's the guy's name? Um he was in Newsies, he was the original guy in Newsies.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, Christian Bauer.

SPEAKER_05

He played Thomas.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, that explains everything in the house.

SPEAKER_05

It was like a bit part, but yeah. Well, Elle, what's yours?

SPEAKER_04

What's your favorite? We'll go around the circle. We'll go around the circle. Um let's break down. So we'll break it down. Um, Disney is like because of for the times and the canon, I have to have my three big ones are Beauty and the Beast, uh, Little Mermaid, and Aladdin. You you cannot, like, I cannot not watch those movies. And I'm not talking about the remakes. No, the originals. The original, yes, the only ones. Like, I don't talk about the remakes. Like, I'm talking like in like even though we like some remakes, but the originals are the best. Like, yeah. The music from Aladdin is amazing. That was the first time I ever saw a brown princess. And those look, she, you know, and I went to school with a lot of Southeast Asian kids, so it would like look like my friends. Like, um, so those those are my the three canon. Like that's everything. And then I would say for Pixar, uh, what was Toy Story? What is Pixar? Toy Story, Inside Out, Monsters. I think that's the Incredible Incredibles, oh the Incredibles, I would say. The Incredibles, and I would say Inside Out. Like, if I had to do like because I really can't separate, I think both franchises are absolutely fantastic. Yeah. So yeah, I would definitely like we got so excited when we met Frozone. And we met Frozen and we met Edna Edna. We were so excited to meet Edna and Frozen. So Pixar. Cars. Oh, I love Cars. Cars has a great soundtrack. But you know what the crazy part is now it's like I have we have the relationship with Scar with it, so it's like different because like I'm gonna do it. It takes on a different element. It takes on a maybe you feel the same way with kids, maybe you feel the same way with the nieces and nephews. Yes, exactly. It hits differently. It hits differently.

SPEAKER_02

It hits differently because I've never seen up. Oh my god, you didn't cry.

SPEAKER_01

You can see it cry.

SPEAKER_05

Okay, cancel the episode. Why are you not seeing up?

SPEAKER_02

It's just never, I was never interested in it. Why? I don't know. It just never attracted me.

SPEAKER_05

What is it that didn't attract you?

SPEAKER_03

Because that's probably not what the movie's about. I don't know. Maybe because it was about old people.

SPEAKER_02

That's what it's about.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, like first of all, first five five minutes of the movie, you're gonna cry. Sobbing. Not letting you cry. And then you'd be like yourself.

SPEAKER_02

It was so oh, I loved it. I don't watch it. But I need a really good sad day. I'm getting all these sad movies on my list. But it's happy. I need a sad day.

SPEAKER_04

It is happy.

SPEAKER_02

It's a good it's a good ending. It is a good ending.

SPEAKER_05

But it's like all Disney movies. It's what? Someone dies. Always dies. Yeah. But it will you will sob.

SPEAKER_02

This segment is sponsored by Michaela Barr's cookies are fantastic. That's not a euphemism. She's 16 and she makes cookies. They're great cookies. There's a whole lot of cookies out there you could get, but you want to get Michaela Barr's cookies, go to Mickeys.sweet.treats on Instagram at Michaela Bar Cookies. It's not a euphemism. Michaela Barr cookies, it's not a euphemism. Well, who's your favorite princess?

SPEAKER_04

Oh princess Leia. Because isn't she technically a Disney princess? She is technically right. She is no it at the time. She is the greatest. Because we had Star Wars growing up. We didn't realize that that was uh that was what we had, and she was real life and was Carrie Fisher. Yeah. Um, and then I would say it would probably go uh Belle, Jasmine, Belle and Jasmine very close, and then Ariel, because Ariel was a mermaid, and I always had issues with the fact that she left Merworld because who didn't want to be a mermaid? Of course. Exactly. Eric was cute, but yeah. I mean, seriously.

SPEAKER_05

I would say down in the water. Exactly. Trans could have made him a merman. That's true. Exactly. They're universal.

SPEAKER_04

So yeah, I would say that would be my princess would be at the top. Oh, that's awesome. Awesome. All right. Mine is really easy. You know, I love anything in the water. So of course it is the Little Mermaid. Um, yeah, Arrow is my favorite princess. Uh Little Mermaid is my absolute favorite Disney um movie ever. Nice. Um and uh Pixar, um, Finding Nemo. Is that Pixar? I believe so. The Finding Nemo, of course. I mean, come on. That's right. Anything in the ocean, uh, that is my home. I am home. I forgot about finding Nemo. The Finding Nemo. Um, the part those are my favorite. Is the dentist office with that fish tank and that kid that comes in. Yeah, yeah. Like I'm like amazing.

SPEAKER_02

You gotta watch that movie again. It's been so long. Oh, absolutely. Watch up first, please.

SPEAKER_05

No, no, no rewatches until you see the ones you have first. So catch up.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, even though yeah, finding you're my favorite, you have to watch up. I will watch it. Yeah, so those are those are my two. Easy. Did you? Yes, absolutely. Um I'm definitely baiting you with this question. The remake for Little Mermaid. Oh, yeah. How did you feel about it? So I am there's a passion about the Little Mermaid, as you know. We know. You know. So I went in, I'm gonna be very honest. I was just like, they're gonna mess this up. They're gonna mess this up. I'm not gonna like it. I've already um concluded that I'm not gonna like it. But of course I had to watch it. You had not to. I absolutely loved it. Yeah, I absolutely loved it. Yeah, I absolutely loved it. Because I was like, I I went in critical about certain things, but they actually um surprised me. Yeah, and I really, really loved it. Of course, there's nothing like the original, there's never will be. Um, but I was so happy at the end that I wasn't like pissed off. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Um, because it was beautiful, it was right. It was beautiful. Um, the music was good too. Every everyone did an amazing, amazing job.

SPEAKER_03

So I was really happy about that because I was gonna go in.

SPEAKER_05

But in all fairness, they had just messed up Mulan because they took out all the music. What's that? They took out all the music and Mulan. Wait, you left the songs.

SPEAKER_02

I loved it. Oh no. Put the music back in, and I would like it. Oh, I loved it. I thought it was fantastic.

SPEAKER_05

I'll make a man out of you. Where was that?

SPEAKER_02

Oh, but where was that? Didn't they change it though? There's no music in. There's no music. Put the music back. No. But the music, the scenes or something.

SPEAKER_03

So we didn't talk about it and how terrible it was.

SPEAKER_02

With no lyrics. Loved it.

SPEAKER_05

I think we watched the favorite songs of the city. Well, it's like um, where was he? Where was Mushu? Where was Mushu? This was not the People's Moulin. Yeah. Okay, this was authentic. I didn't like it. I wanted the Disney Moulin. Yeah. But I'm also a bit of an original snob.

SPEAKER_02

Of course. Yeah. Same with Broadway. I want the Disney. We will absolutely nothing to say because I don't know Broadway like that.

SPEAKER_03

We will revisit Broadway. We will. We will definitely revisit that.

SPEAKER_02

So what about you, Jay? Go ahead. Okay, so uh favorite movies. Um, so I had all the Disney VHS tapes. All of them. I think I saw that. I still have a couple of mine. Yeah. And then Kimura would constantly be telling me to put in Beauty and the Beast, Beauty and the Beast, Beauty and the Beast. I mean, literally rewind, play it again, play it again, play it again. And I used to always fall asleep next to her. And I think I cannot make that one of my top movies. So sorry, because I am overwatch something. So no. But of course, Sleeping Beauty. Of course. Sleeping Beauty is my favorite. Always been my favorite. Because of course it's tied to Maleficent, right? Of course. Who is my favorite?

SPEAKER_05

Question. Yes. Did you see the Maleficent movies?

SPEAKER_02

I did. What'd you think?

SPEAKER_05

Loved it. So why can't that be your favorite?

SPEAKER_02

Maleficent? Yeah. It can be. But like, I mean, Sleeping Beauty takes me back to my time. Okay, that's fair. Like that, I loved Sleeping Beauty. And I loved it when it was not, you know how they remaster it? So crisp. I was like the grainy sleeping beauty. Yeah, exactly. The original. Love the book, love everything about it. And then, of course, there's Maleficent. And that could be the reason why I love Maleficent because Sleeping Beauty was. Yeah, it's tied into it. Yeah, for sure. So now, as far as Pixar, I have to agree with Toy Story. I think that that is just a magnificent storyline. If I had another choice, it would be Monsters Inc. Oh, I do love Monsters Ink. Monsters Inc. You know, because yeah, um, love, love, love um Monsters Inc. Um, so yeah, so that's I think I don't have any more. I don't have really have any more. I just I'm I'm good with that. It's enough. Yeah, it's enough. That was a great question. But Pocahontas, though, I would say that legit is my girl. Like she is, yeah, she's not pink.

SPEAKER_05

She's not pink.

SPEAKER_02

You know we hate pink. Neither is Milan.

SPEAKER_05

She's not a pink line, which is probably why I love it. Yeah. And I would be brave, but she's a Pixar, not a Disney. No, she's Pixar. She's Redhead, and we love Redhead. We do love Redheads. We love a good ginger.

SPEAKER_04

She's not technically Disney, which we learned about in Wreck It Ralph. Well, no, sweet, wait. She's Pixar Princess.

SPEAKER_05

Remember when we're just from the other studio. Wait, you guys have not a Disney this happened? No, so have you not seen Wreck It Ralph?

SPEAKER_02

No. Oh I saw that. Wreck it Ralph 2. I don't know. So there's Wreck at Ralph and Wreckettes. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Wreck it Ralph breaks the internet. They go into the internet. Penelope. Penelope. Penelope. Vanelope? Penelope. Von Schweets.

SPEAKER_04

Von Schweets. No, I've never saw Wreckett Ritz.

SPEAKER_05

So all of the princesses, she gets sucked into the princess world, and all the princesses are sitting there. And of course, the Scottish princess Meredith starts talking and they're all like, she goes, What did she say? And she's like, we don't know. She's from the other studio. Like we can't understand her. This is happening.

SPEAKER_04

Like she's like, and Ralph breaks the internet. Well, both, but and then Ralph breaks the internet. That's too record Ralph is first. Record Ralph is first, and Ralph breaks the internet. Ralph breaks the internet. Is also in lane with um Inside Out exactly how the internet works. So they they teach you actually when he breaks the internet, there's like a whole breakdown that they animated of how information works. Actually, it's really, really good. And then there's this part where the princesses show up. And remember, they're like, Well, do you stare into a puddle? And do you sing? And they're like basically categorizing like what makes you a princess. And then Alpha is a princess. Yes. Yeah, she is. So there's only two? There's two? Okay. Yeah, you gotta watch that. Okay, I'll watch that. We have a work to do. Yes. And you watch that one.

SPEAKER_03

Wreck it Ralph and Wreck It Ralph 2.

SPEAKER_04

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

So some movies that weren't mentioned, I want to get your opinion on it. Um was um my god, my brain. Who's in it? Which one? My mind. Future, future topic. Oh, definitely. If anybody wants to be a little bit more than a chance, in the words of Pink. Yeah, please. Janice has been looking for menopause, menopause. Me.

SPEAKER_04

Exactly.

SPEAKER_02

Come on. Do it with someone else. So I can add content.

SPEAKER_04

They can add you snacks. And you can sit with us. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Laura will bring you snacks. I'll send them to you. So Despicable Me. Oh. But the Minions? Yes. No? Not Disney. Not Disney. That's not Disney. No.

SPEAKER_05

Oh. That's Universal.

SPEAKER_02

Oh. Well, that's best movie six. See how much I know. Wait, wait, wait, let me think of the next one. Oh, the Lego movie. Not Disney movies. No. Well, I go. Who was the Lego movie? Universal movie.

SPEAKER_05

It was good, but I don't know if the Lego movies.

SPEAKER_02

I never saw the Lego movie. I thought the Lego movie was cute. It was hilarious. So cute. Not Disney. Oh, okay. No, I never saw it. I loved it.

SPEAKER_04

And I love playing with Lego Zone when I was a child, but I never thought the movie did it. Okay. Wait, there's multiple ones? Oh.

SPEAKER_05

Fun fact. Yes. The guy who started, I think it's DreamWorks. He had been fired from Disney. He was an animator, a story creator, whatever. I don't know all the facts. But um he was fired or let go, whatever the case may be. He wanted to be higher, whatever. Um his first movie out of Disney was Shrek, making fun of all of those. So DreamWorks.

SPEAKER_04

Well, the first one, because isn't it like Shrek 8 now or something?

SPEAKER_05

DreamWorks is also owned. I don't know if it's owned by Universal, but they have them in their parks. Okay. So DreamWorks, Illumination, all of that. Not Disney. Not Disney.

SPEAKER_02

Shrek was spent. Let's talk about fantastic. Shrek 1 and 2. The first one.

SPEAKER_04

Like I'm talking about like heaving laughter. Like it's not even.

SPEAKER_03

It was fun. It was so funny. But I feel like it like lost its traction after they started.

SPEAKER_04

Why are we letting the thing go? Yeah. Yeah. One and two, though. Yeah. Fantastic. Yeah. Totally forgot about Shrek. That's right. Yeah. Yeah. Not Disney.

SPEAKER_02

Did you guys see The Huntsman though?

SPEAKER_05

The one with Charlize Sharon? Yeah. How was that? I did. When it came out. I haven't seen it since. Yeah. It was very good. When is that attached to which movie? Um Snow White. Snow White. Oh. And I'm not a Snow White fan. Sure, sure. And I'm not a fan of the girl who played Snow White in that movie. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

No, not. You don't like her?

SPEAKER_02

No. She's the one from the um Twilight movie. The Twilight series. There's something about her. Wait, Kristen Stewart was Snow White? Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

But in that case, I mean she was Carly Farin, but she was the evil queen.

SPEAKER_02

She was fantastic.

SPEAKER_05

And you know what? I never thought. And what's the guy Australian guy, the hunter? Yeah. What's his name? Oh, he's from Australia. Whatever his name is.

SPEAKER_01

Yes! My fan!

SPEAKER_02

Yes! How did you not see it? We've gotta watch it. Oh, I am definitely watching it. Yeah, absolutely.

SPEAKER_04

Because I'm not a huge uh, I'm not a huge uh uh Disney though or was it Stuart fan? No, because she can't act. Kristen Stewart is snow white in a movie.

SPEAKER_02

But the way this was, because it was very um pale and dark. Oh, okay. All right, I definitely want to see it. Let me know.

SPEAKER_04

She's a amazing actor. I'm an actress, yeah. And my man Handsworth, definitely watching it. That's the top list. It has to go up the queue.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. It's up the queue. Yeah. I mean, it's over Wreck it Ralph right now.

SPEAKER_02

I understand that I get that. I understand that. I'm just thinking of these movies where they made it into live action, right? So like the Snow White, which I never watched. The Snow White one, never watched it because you never watched it. They got such terrible reviews. I didn't bother.

SPEAKER_04

Um live action of Beauty and the Beast.

SPEAKER_02

Did I watch that?

SPEAKER_04

Now that was with the girl from um Harry Potter. Yeah. I don't think I did it.

SPEAKER_05

Snow White in the Huntsman is not a Disney film.

SPEAKER_04

Oh. So how did they do it?

SPEAKER_05

How can they do it? Okay, so all these stories Disney didn't create. Sure, I know that. They're like the Grim Brothers story. So anybody can make the story. It's just a matter of it's is it the Disney story? Because Disney's changed all the stories to make them more child fan. That makes sense. So you have the Disney stories and then you have like the OG stories. So that was an OG story, yeah. Okay.

SPEAKER_04

From the Grim Brothers.

SPEAKER_05

I don't know. But it's like, you know, they're not Disney characters.

SPEAKER_04

They're not Disney characters. Okay, that makes sense.

SPEAKER_05

So speaking of, let's go into Cinderella was the remake?

SPEAKER_02

Several ones.

SPEAKER_05

The re- the most recent uh remake from Disney with Lily Jane. Lily James. That's the one from um Fabian. Right? Fabian. Yeah, that was Fab. That's what I'm thinking of.

SPEAKER_04

My bad. My bad.

SPEAKER_05

Like my villain from that, Lady Tremaine, with her costumes. Like that was like I'm gonna put it on my list twice. And that was like Kate's. Was that Kate Blanche?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Yes. And we love her. Yeah? Yeah. You would love it. The dresses are also phenomenal. Yeah, phenomenal. It was really good. Okay. Yeah. That's who I was thinking of, not the other one.

SPEAKER_02

I watched the um Hillary Duff one. No. Yeah. Well that's a good one. That's never thought in real life. That's okay. What's that one? Hillary Duff. It was on Disney Play. Like the Disney Channel.

SPEAKER_05

Like the when Disney Channel was pushing out all those movies.

SPEAKER_02

They made it so many times that Cinderella that you made it so many times.

SPEAKER_05

And then there's the Rogers and Hammerstein Cinderella, which was the one with Brandy and Whitney Houston. Correct. I think they made a remake of that. Correct.

SPEAKER_04

We need to go back to the original one, which we watched. Yes. Rogers and Hammerstein's from the 60s with Leslie Ann Warren. That's it. It's very good. It's very good.

SPEAKER_05

Because I saw it on Broadway and it's basically the same. Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Everyone has an opinion. Everyone has something to say. Now you can have something to say with the everyone has something to say button. The everyone has something to say button. It's like a staples. That was easy button. Except it's an everyone has something to say button. Everyone has something to say button. It's like a staples. Except it's an everyone has something to say button.

SPEAKER_04

So that was a good analogy, because yeah.

SPEAKER_02

We have other live action ones that were done. So there was Snow White, there was Cinderella, there was Beauty and the Beast, A Little Merlin, A Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Lion Came. Aladdin, which I love.

SPEAKER_05

Which I don't really understand because it's not really live action.

SPEAKER_02

But Lion King was fantastic.

SPEAKER_05

But it's not live action.

SPEAKER_03

You didn't think so? Why? Isn't Disney using your imagination? Do you think the lions were talking, Nikki? Well, I mean, it's childlike. It was that's not live action. It's animated. It's an animated movie behind a live. Animation makes me think of cartoon. Is this all about Beyoncé?

SPEAKER_04

Like, yeah. We talk about that soundtrack. The soundtrack was amazing.

SPEAKER_03

But I mean, animation for live action. But animation is a good idea. Animation makes me think of cartoons.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. I I think it will. Did we need it? Did we need a lot of them, though? I don't think we need a lot of them.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

It is nice to have it. Your toes look great, by the way.

unknown

Wow.

SPEAKER_04

A little ADD. Sorry. It is. Like I'm a still hard toes. Sorry. I love it. You're still looking.

SPEAKER_02

That's a great color.

SPEAKER_04

It's Dory over there. I know. Sorry. Oh, yes.

SPEAKER_02

Dory. But now the next one that's coming out is Moana. Oh. And I need your opinion on this. So I saw Moana or animated. It's a slide action. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Because it's not a cartoon. Excuse me. The wiggle. Wiggate.

SPEAKER_02

No. The who?

SPEAKER_04

Wiggate. Oh, the rock wiggate.

SPEAKER_02

They should have just left him bald. Yes. I really wish they would have left them bald. I think we would have been okay with that.

SPEAKER_04

Let's just talk about a second.

SPEAKER_02

So Moana is. But would it have gone with the story? I guess.

SPEAKER_05

Did you see Milana either? I don't think a major part of the story is his flowing hair. I don't think. The tattoos, yes. The other things, yes. I don't think like the songs don't reference his flowing hair. No, I know, but I don't think it's a lot of people.

SPEAKER_04

Exactly.

SPEAKER_05

So I don't think that they're seen. Okay, but the Little Mermaid originally is white. So I mean, we're not sticking by anything. There is interpretation in everything. We're talking about the Lion King live action. I thought he could be ball.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, that's all we're talking about. Oh we're talking about the first Moana. Oh, we're talking about the first one. Okay. I just see the first one. The first, let's just talk about the cartoon. The cartoon, exquisite.

SPEAKER_05

We're not talking about the second cartoon because the second cartoon was terrible. Thank you. It was terrible. I didn't watch that one. Don't terrible. Scarlet. The first one was amazing. It was really, really good. We didn't leave, but like I walked out of the theater, I was like, well, what happened to this? Like, there were so many plot holes, and the music was it just had a completely different vibe, and it didn't feel like the same story. And it they don't know.

SPEAKER_04

This is where you don't need a sequel, but they're gonna make a sequel for money. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

So they're gonna make the live action, and people will go see that. The believable. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Incredibly incredible. Yes. And we know because Lynn did a lot of the music. Of course. And also um Lynn had Hamilton, and Hamilton was amazing, and then Disney tapped him to come do songs for Moana, and it was also him and also from Fly of the Concords. Brett and Brett and Jermaine, who are incredible. They also do because that's who's a shiny and that's who's a lot of things. Yes. So the music for Moana, first off, we're talking about the animated, is exquisite because they had the amazing songwriters. Yes. The storyline's amazing. Great storytellers, and it's so Hawaiian. If you spend any time in Hawaii, like it's so Hawaiian and it's so beautiful. Okay. So we have that iconic world. Two comes out, which we're not talking about. So now let's talk about the remake. Because the remake is of one, is my understanding. Yes. And now, with all the money in Disney's repository, why did Dwayne Johnson's wig look the way that it does? And now they have commercials for the show, for the movie, involving uh Greek the freak. Involving who? The freak? Freak, wait, Greek freak. He's an NBA player. They call him NBA player. The Tallga? Yeah. They call him Greek.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, they call him Greek Freak. Oh, the Greek.

SPEAKER_04

The Greek freak. Giannis. Giannis is in the commercials with Dwayne and he's putting that wig on.

SPEAKER_02

To promote it. Oh, to promote it. So he put the wig on, but he looks better than the rock with the wig. With the wig?

SPEAKER_03

Because the rock looks fine bulk. It does.

SPEAKER_02

You're Maui. You're Maui. Regardless, we would have Okay, you're Maui. I don't care about the thing.

SPEAKER_05

It's the adults taking the kids. The kids are not spending the money. Please the adults.

SPEAKER_03

I don't care. I don't know why they wanted to do that.

SPEAKER_02

We have jobs. Did they want to put it on close to what he looked like in the mood? I'm thinking probably. They changed everything else, like you guys said.

SPEAKER_04

So why can they change that?

SPEAKER_03

But then again, we pick on like when they change things.

SPEAKER_02

You have millions of dollars. You could have picked a better wig. There are women out there that have better wigs than that. Oh, yeah, sure. The wig is terrible, though. It's terrible. It's too much.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. It's too much.

SPEAKER_03

It is.

SPEAKER_05

It's too big.

SPEAKER_02

It's too hairline.

SPEAKER_03

It's too dark. It's easy to suit him.

SPEAKER_02

Listen, he's aged. He wore a wig in other things.

SPEAKER_05

He's worn a wig in the mummy. He wore a wig in um. He wore a wig in Hercules, didn't he? Never saw him. He's had wigs before and they did not look like this. I never saw that.

SPEAKER_02

Hercules? No. Oh, please. I saw it. It's fantastic.

SPEAKER_05

I never saw the mum. It was in the mummy. But I've seen the the king.

SPEAKER_02

We watched Scorpion King. Never saw it. That's where my intensity. I'd be remaking it. Like I loved him as wrestler. Always loved him there, but my intensity grew when I saw him in Scorpion King. And Scorpion King? Ooh, because I saw it in the theaters. Okay. And that was it for me. That was it. And that's why on God Smack's um song. Because that comes out at the end. Oh, I do like that. That is why it's always my go-to song. But he to Brittany's point, he has done other movies where they have hair. I just saw the smashing man, I think it's called. The one where he the wrestler. The wrestler, the MMA guy. No. He had a full-blown wig. Smashing machine. But it looked great. Oh, okay. So it's like Moana's just not doing it. Yeah. I was like, wow, it's a good thing. Hair maybe messed up big. I'm saying, they messed up big too much. Whoever?

SPEAKER_04

Sure.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. They have spot time to fix it though. Yeah. Yeah, look at that.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, come on. That's terrible. It is terrible.

SPEAKER_05

It's not even cartoonish. Yeah. Yeah. And if they're going for a cartoon, great. It doesn't fit his face. No, it's too long.

SPEAKER_04

It's too. They should have just left them bald. And it's like brown. Maui's hair is black. Sorry, now I'm nitpicking.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, we do that.

SPEAKER_05

We do. This is this is why I don't watch this is why I don't read the book before the movie. I gotta see the movie first.

SPEAKER_02

But now I'll have to see it because you know it's him.

SPEAKER_04

But I think it probably would be a movie though. I will wait till not like going to the movie to see that.

SPEAKER_05

So my big question is you used the rock because he was Maui. Sure. Right. Yep. But you didn't use the girl. Oh I agree with you.

SPEAKER_02

I agree with you.

SPEAKER_05

Why would you say you could have done it? Was she not available? Maybe? I don't really think she don't know. I mean, you can't say it, right? So I don't really think she's done.

SPEAKER_03

But does she look like the Moana girl? Does she it's her voice?

SPEAKER_05

She's Hawaiian. She's Hawaiian. Okay, so I do I do know, I do know she had very, very short hair, like shaved short hair. They could have just put it. And they put a wig on the press. They could have put a wig on her for that? Yeah. And I didn't know this. They put a wig on her for all of the original. Oh my gosh. Yeah, for all of the press, because they wanted her to have a press. Oh, she's gorgeous. And she was like, fine. So I mean, if he if Maui's wearing a wig, she could have wear a wig. Yeah, exactly. Remember, she was the last maybe she's too old at this point. This is the original.

SPEAKER_04

Maybe she um Alana or Alana. Yeah, she has a she's Hawaiian. She's full of things. And she's gorgeous. Beautiful. Yeah, and they why couldn't we just the last person that they auditioned for Moana? Because remember, they couldn't find Moana. This is like interviews. Yeah. And then she was like the last audition and she was Hawaiian. So I agree with you. Like when I saw the preview, I'm like, why wouldn't they just put her in it? So this is what Google says. Go ahead. Alright, let's let's hear. She stepped away from the live action remake to ensure authentic Pacific Islander representation. She chose to pass the baton to another young woman of Pacific Island descent. Isn't she Hawaiian? I thought she was. But anyway, she remains heavily involved as an executive producer. Oh.

SPEAKER_05

I don't think Moana is specifically Hawaiian, as she is like Pacific area. Yeah, like Samoan or like I don't think of that. It's not a area. I don't think it's a determined like Hawaii or Samoa or Fiji. It's just the general region is Pacific. Like I am Moana of Montanui. I don't think Montanui exists.

SPEAKER_01

So they just think it's just they made that up. That's just a little bit more than a little bit of a little bit of Leland Stitch. I love it. But Lilo and Stitch is Hawaiian. That's another great movie. She's Hawaiian. That was really good. That was cute.

SPEAKER_04

Good cartoon, too. And I thought the casting was excellent. Oh, excellent. Excellent. The casting was that one with Judgy faces though, too. Yes. Absolutely.

SPEAKER_05

Again, because they had messed up so royally before. Yeah.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Of who's making these movies. Well. You want to do something for a hot tag to Stanley Tucci's in it. We love him. Listen. He's a hot dad. And he has a great book, too. And knows food. He goes all the way. He goes everywhere. Yes. Yeah. Oh, his book is a little bit about that. Food. Yeah, he loves food. He loves food. And we love food. He loves, yeah. Yeah. And we love the. He dresses nice too. He's very classy. Yes. He is now married. His second wife. His first wife's passed away. Okay. Um, which she was, you know, grown kids, the whole thing. And his wife is Emily Blunt's sister. Oh, that's pretty cool.

SPEAKER_05

He was in burlesque. He was in burlesque. Oh, yes, yes. Yes.

SPEAKER_04

Which is a great movie. Yes.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. And he girl Christina. He's in with Meryl Streep with the cooking. Yes.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, uh something Julia. Julia and Julia? Yes. Oh, he was also in the one just the just one the Conclave. Conclave. He was a conclave. He can really plan any. He has a really simple thing. He has a great range. He has a great range. He speaks Italian. Yeah. How many questions? Look it up. At least two. Yeah, at least two. They're grown. His kids are grown. Didn't he have kids with um his new wife? Let's look. I don't know. Let's find out. I thought he at least had a younger. I could be very wrong. He also used to have hair in the 90s. So there's like videos. Oh, I definitely gotta look at this. Yeah, where he had hair.

SPEAKER_02

He has gotta look at younger pictures of him. Like, wow. Yes. Yes. Nice arms, muscular. Check him out. He has three uh two. Two kids.

SPEAKER_04

Isabel, Camilla, and Nicolo. Okay. Yeah. And I don't know that he has any kids, though, with Felicity Blonde. I'm gonna look at it. So he's our hot dog of the week. He is our hot dad of the week.
