Curse of Strahd - Episode 15 'Friends & Enemies'

A loose end comes back to bite the party in the butt, Leo recounts his night with Yevgeni, the group visits Rictavio in his hideaway tower, and much more in this chaotic episode.

Thanks so much for joining us for episode 15 of our Curse of Strahd adventure. Last episode we began with Quick Draw opening the creaky gate of the Abbey in Kresk. You found out that the abbey was home to many, many mongrel folk, two of which you met and spoke with. It seemed that they were a family of lepers that have been helped to some degree by the abbot. Um a the abbot, a very strange character, but seemed to be very confident in what he was doing, uh, which was helping this family, uh, and creating a bride for Strahd named Visilka, who turned out to be a flesh golem, sort of a bride of Frankenstein situation that you guys were not too big of fans of. He saw Arena and Lyriel's holy symbol of Ravenkind and figured them to be a blessing from the Morning Lord himself, approving of what he's doing currently. So he tasked Arena with teaching Visilka the ways in which Vasilka can please Strahd and act in Arena's stead. So Irina was not big on the idea. Quick draw, Leo and Lyrielle were also not big on the idea. So I was into it. A little bit okay. Everyone else was not into it. Uh you convinced him that you were going to stay in the inn of Kresk, which earlier does not exist as this is a commune and everyone just kind of stays in their own abode. Um so he let you go. Obviously, he knew that there was no inn there, but he said, All right, if you he was it seemed that he was hoping that you would just come back and not venture out in the middle of the night to escape. Fuck it out of it. So get the fuck out of here. As you were searching for the arrow a voice began to speak. Oh yeah. She was spoken to possibly by Strahd, possibly by Strahd's brother and her supposed betrothed.

Sergei. She wanted, you saw the image of Sergei in the pool and his hand reaching out through the water. She wanted to go in, Lyriel held her back, she cried and punched and screamed to no avail, as Lyriel quite a bit stronger than her redheaded counterpart. Leaving Velocki or sorry, leaving Kresk to sleep at Velocki, or a more comfortable option to avoid staying with the abbot and all the mongrel folk in the abbey in Kresk. Got into some fights on the way back, survived them, managed to chase down Arena. She tried to escape again, and arrived back in Vallac. In Vallacchi, you put her at the rain in the church. You separated. Yes. Please took Arena to Father Lucian. She is staying there with him. Soldar is also keeping watch. Yevgeny is keeping watch on Leo. Quick Draw and Leary had a bit of an awkward crush confession at the end before going their separate ways and sleeping in their own rooms.

Yeah, pretty much. Um, and he is going to come after you thrice with his short sword.

That's a lot of D6 for a short sword. I don't like that. Lyriel is in the next room. Do you want to make enough noise for her to hear? Oh, yeah. I definitely will uh well, would that be an action to like bang on the wall? I'm gonna bang on the wall.

He looks over to you, Lyriel. You're next.

Not a smooth ride. It is very jerky as it is clay golems fulling chain to raise you up. Past the second floor, which is just filled with dust and cobwebs. To the third floor, which is another disgusting room, slimy black mildew on the walls. Oh my goodness. The floor is rotted and falling away in places. And then finally to the fourth floor. Unlike the levels below, this room shows signs of recent habitation. And although the place reeks of mold and mildew, it has plenty of creature comforts, including a cozy bed, a desk with a matching chair, bright tapestries, and a large iron stove with plenty of wood to feed it. Light enters through arrow slits as well as through dirt-caked windows with broken shutters. Other features of the room include a standing suit of armor and wooden chest. Old wooden rafters bend under the weight of the tower roof, which has somehow remained intact. Mounted to the rafters are pulleys around which hang iron chains that support the tower's elevator platform. This is my humble abode, and this is my associate and student, Esmerelda.
