Crispy.

SPEAKER_01

You never get tired of that, do you?

SPEAKER_02

Absolutely not.

SPEAKER_01

You know, I kind of figured because I can see it for you, like when you die, like the last thing you do is crack a beer or a buzz ball and say crispy. And then pop, pop, pop, pop, pop.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Anyways, let's go ahead and just jump into this week's episode, shall we?

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Let's chat and yep about it, bitches.

SPEAKER_01

Lego. Welcome back to Kamina Technically. Today we're diving into the unsettling and undeniable. Starting with the breakdown of something very bad is going to happen. And after we sift through the wreckage that the Duffer brothers produced, we kind of pivot into the question that's just as heavy. Is the idea of quote unquote the one actually holding us back? Keep this question in mind. Are you limited to just one person in this lifetime? Or is it possible to have a soulmate for every version of yourself? And just to warn everyone that this does have spoilers.

SPEAKER_02

It took a fucking 360 girl.

SPEAKER_01

It really did. Um it was one of those that I saw it like the preview for it on Netflix, and I was like, ooh, that's gonna be so good. I can't wait for it to come out. The day it came out, I started watching it, and I was like, Yeah. Yeah. And then as it developed, I was like, this show I wish would have came out for me personally in like my early to like mid 20s. Yeah. I feel like it would have like really helped me.

SPEAKER_02

Like you would have resonated with it more?

SPEAKER_01

I would have resonated with it a lot without where it was hard for you. Oh my god.

SPEAKER_02

Y'all, if you hear me stroke out, mind your business.

SPEAKER_01

So funny. We were about to walk in to do this recording and he put something up his nose, and I thought he put a popper up his nose. I was like, Are you taking poppers before we start doing business? And he goes, For sure.

SPEAKER_02

Just casually doing poppers at six o'clock in the evening. Literally. About to record a podcast. Oh my god.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so I really do think it's a popper. He's like, it's just the VIX, what is it?

SPEAKER_02

It's a VIX inhaler.

SPEAKER_01

A VIX inhaler.

SPEAKER_02

Poppers.

SPEAKER_01

It's yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Poppers. Apparently.

SPEAKER_01

Apparently, you're taking poppers.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

The VIX popper. Okay. So let's talk about the show. I guess we should really talk about the characters. And I kind of did like a quickie little breakdown of each character.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, your notes are way better than mine.

SPEAKER_01

Your handwriting's not too terrible.

SPEAKER_02

Well, here, yeah. But the next episode, yes, absolutely. It was horrible.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. So we have Rachel. She's our main character. Uh she is moody, anxious. She's a stoner. I feel like almost every scene where things get really hard for her, she's like, Yeah, girl.

SPEAKER_02

She'd be lighting up like multiple times.

SPEAKER_01

See, and that's why, like, if I was again in my early to like mid-20s, if the show would have come out, I've been like, oh my god, I'm Rachel. Any slight inconvenience.

SPEAKER_02

I'm like, Side note, um, did you when you first saw Rachel, do you think she looks like Dula Peep?

SPEAKER_01

A little bit. A little bit.

SPEAKER_02

You know what I'm talking about? I do. Like her facial structure?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

I thought she was gorgeous.

SPEAKER_02

No, she's very pretty.

SPEAKER_01

And I was like, what else is she in? Like, is she like a like a like a Nepo baby or something like that? No, you want to know where I've seen her at?

SPEAKER_02

Where?

SPEAKER_01

I feel so bad that this is the only place I know her from.

SPEAKER_02

Well, I've seen her before too, but I just didn't know where.

SPEAKER_01

Um she dated Leonardo DiCaprio. She was one of the young girls that he dated for a couple years, and then she like peeked up into like her late 20s, and he said, and dumped her. That's the only place I've known her from is being his girlfriend.

SPEAKER_02

That's crazy. I did not know that.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Well, neither did I until I was like, oh no, I hate that. I wish I knew you for your work instead of for who you dated.

SPEAKER_02

But anyway, she's been in like other shit though, too.

SPEAKER_01

I know, she has like the face. Yeah. No, she was great too. Um, and then we have, I guess, Nikki, the fiance boyfriend. He's basically kind of golden retriever energy, and he's deeply insecure though.

SPEAKER_02

Very, very much so. But that man is fine as well. And he can get it.

SPEAKER_01

I was like, what's your notes say?

SPEAKER_02

I really didn't do like your kind of notes. Like, I literally just like recapped every episode.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I love that.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so like just shit that I saw, and I was like, wait, what the fuck?

SPEAKER_01

Okay. Um, so next we have I kind of this is kind of in the order I guess they appeared in. Um, is Portia. That is Nikki's little sister. She is the most micromanageable person I think I've seen on screening.

SPEAKER_02

She she gave me some weird fucking vibes like when we were first introduced to her.

SPEAKER_01

I thought she was on poppers.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, no, literally. She that was tweaking for real.

SPEAKER_01

Girl, and that was another character. I was like, where the fuck have I seen you at?

SPEAKER_02

Because she also looks familiar.

SPEAKER_01

So Jim and I watched The Last Frontier. I think it's on Amazon Prime. I don't know. Um, she plays a drug addict who escapes from prison. I was like, oh my god, it checks out.

SPEAKER_02

That's really fitting for her, actually.

SPEAKER_01

I was thinking about it. That's crazy. Um, but yeah, she's a micromanager. Um, she's very high stressor and amps all the paranoia, in my opinion.

SPEAKER_02

Absolutely. 100%. She made me anxious and I was just sitting there watching it.

SPEAKER_01

Girl, every time she came out the screen, I started to get like the secondhand embarrassment.

SPEAKER_02

Did you um did you do you remember in the first episode where basically Nikki or not Nikki um Rachel walked into the kitchen and Portia was telling her about the sorry man? Yes. And like And this, mind you, this is the first time she is meeting these fucking people. Yeah. And that's what she says.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I can't even remember how it goes.

SPEAKER_02

But it was some kind of like riddle almost, if I remember right.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. It was like, don't let um don't let him smell your blood. And then she turns around to Rachel, says, You're not in your period, right? Like just like so weird.

SPEAKER_02

The first fucking time you're meeting that person. That's what you say.

SPEAKER_01

I would run back into the room I'm sharing with Jim and be like, your fucking sister.

SPEAKER_02

I would just leave.

SPEAKER_01

Needs to get committed. We need to go.

SPEAKER_02

Right.

SPEAKER_01

Um, so that's Portia's energy. Then we have mom, her name's Victoria. Um, very wealthy. In my opinion, she's losing her marbles. Um, she is sick, which we find out later on as the season goes on. Spoiler. Yeah. Um, but I kind of get like weird vibes from her too. To me, like when I when she appears in that first episode where she stands in the what is that, like the ballroom or whatever. Yeah. And then she just like looks at her and says, I'm sorry we won't get to see much of each other anymore. It was so omnemous, and I was like, Yeah, what the fuck is gonna happen?

SPEAKER_02

Um, before I knew that uh she had uh her illness, I wrote I wrote down Sunbowning.

SPEAKER_01

Girl, yeah. Yeah, because that's what I felt like.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I was like, this bitch is crazy, and she is about to lose her fucking mind.

SPEAKER_01

She's losing her goddamn marbles. Next we have Nell. It is um Nikki's sister-in-law. It's uh Julian, or otherwise known as Jules. It's his second wife, that's um Nikki's older brother. A kind of like plot twist. Uh she also dated Nikki too. And so I was like, oop, brotherfucker.

SPEAKER_02

And I was like, homie hopper. Yeah. Or not even a homie hopper, a brotherfucker. A brotherfucker. That's a good one. Yeah. I love that.

SPEAKER_01

I was like, ooh, brotherfucker.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Oop, ooh, oop. I was like, ooh, tea girl. Alright.

SPEAKER_01

She's cunty though.

SPEAKER_02

I do love her.

SPEAKER_01

I love her too.

SPEAKER_02

And Jules is.

SPEAKER_01

Go ahead.

SPEAKER_02

I love him as a character, but I hate his character too. Do you really? Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I hated it in the beginning.

SPEAKER_02

That's fair.

SPEAKER_01

I liked it towards the end. Yeah. He was like the realest one.

SPEAKER_02

That's that's true.

SPEAKER_01

The realest one, besides Rachel.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know. He just gives me like narcissistic, maybe?

SPEAKER_01

Oh, 100%.

SPEAKER_02

Um 100%. Mansplaining a lot?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I couldn't be married to him. Yeah. I don't know how Nell is because she's so cunty.

SPEAKER_02

And I don't know if I don't know if he's hot or not. I can't tell.

SPEAKER_01

I think it depends on the situation. That's true. You know. Um, but, anyways, yeah, then there's Jules, Nikki's older brother. I said asshole energy, narcissistic energy.

SPEAKER_00

Absolutely.

SPEAKER_01

Um, Boris is Nikki's dad. He is where all the money comes from. He is the wealthy doctor of the family. To me, he's out of touch with everything. He's just kind of there.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I honestly didn't know his first name, so I'm glad you wrote it down. Um, he doesn't really like appear in any of the scenes.

SPEAKER_01

No, he just kind of like He's kind of just there. He's vibing.

SPEAKER_02

But honestly, I mean his wife is dying, so True. I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

Maybe that's where he's out of touch. Probably. And because here's the thing is like his wife is dying and no one knows about it. Well, I can't remember. Do the other siblings know? Because Nikki does not know that his mom is dying when they show up to the house.

SPEAKER_02

That's true. I forgot about that.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So it's like everyone is kind of in touch with what's happening, besides like Nikki and Rachel. And they're just like, Lotita, we're here, you know, hanging out. And then they're like, Your mom's gonna die in like 12 days. And they're like, Holy shit.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it's a fucking bomb to drop on your kid.

SPEAKER_01

Girl. Um okay, so the Nexus. I labeled him as the ghost. He's not really a ghost per se. He's what they call like the witness. So an entity that holds the curse to Rachel's family. It was a 200-year curse.

SPEAKER_02

Um, you're talking about the man.

SPEAKER_01

The man, the witness.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Freaked me the fuck out.

SPEAKER_02

Do you remember the scene in the bar? Girl. She stabbed that man with her keys.

SPEAKER_01

And he just like stood there like, what up?

SPEAKER_02

I saw that scene was also fucking crazy. I was like, like, he got he got fucking stabbed in the hand, and he was like, Are you sure he's the one? And I was like, What the fuck? Hello? How do you know he's getting married? How do you know she's getting married?

SPEAKER_01

Girl, and I so here's the thing. Um, that scene was insane to me because she goes to the bathroom to pee. She's had a pee for so long.

SPEAKER_02

Oh god, I forgot about that part too.

SPEAKER_01

As a woman, you fear this anytime you go to some sketchy, like wherever. I feared this when we went to the Ozarks and we were driving. Do you remember? Yeah. And we went to that really sketchy.

SPEAKER_02

Sketchy bathrooms, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, and I was like, I gotta pee so bad, but like I'm scared because I'm so scared that this would happen. Where you're peeing, you're trying to hurry up and pee, so you're like, you're sprint peeing, so you're like waterfall trying to get it out, right? And then there's someone who look who is looking at you, like looking over the stall.

SPEAKER_02

Wasn't he recording?

SPEAKER_01

No, he was just looking. He just peeked over the stall and she was like, Again, as a woman, you like feel the vibe is off.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

She looked up and saw this big ass ugly man looking at her piss, and she goes, What the fuck? Yeah, girl. I would have stabbed the man too.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I don't know. It was just it was a weird fucking scene. This whole show just weirded me the fuck out, honestly.

SPEAKER_01

It's very unselling. Yeah. And it wasn't like scary. So, like, if you guys are like, uh, I'm not gonna watch it because it's scary, to me, it's not scary.

SPEAKER_02

It wasn't scary.

SPEAKER_01

To me, it's more of the haunting of Hill House without the jump scares.

SPEAKER_00

Right, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I think that scene where he is looking over her in the bathroom stall, I think that was the biggest jump scare I got for the whole what eight episodes there were. Eight, nine.

SPEAKER_02

There was two for me.

SPEAKER_01

What was your other one?

SPEAKER_02

Uh do you remember when I think it was Jude?

SPEAKER_01

Oh, the little boy. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

He went downstairs with the phone. Oh. And the man was downstairs. And the leather suit. You remember? Mm-hmm. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yep, yep, yep.

SPEAKER_02

Spoiler.

SPEAKER_01

Spoiler. Getting into Jude. He's the youngest character. He's 10 years old. He's a son of uh Jules. And not Nell, because again, Nell is his second wife, was married before whatever. So Nell's uh stepson. He plays kind of a key role into the plot later on into the show. Okay. So those are our characters. Now I guess the premise of the show is that Nick and Rachel are getting married. Um, they moved up the wedding and they wanted to have it super small. Rachel has like no family. Her mom has passed away, um, doesn't talk to her dad, no siblings, no grandparents, no nothing, right? And so Nikki's like, well, what? Let's just go out to my family's cabin and let's just have it like a small intimate wedding. And she's like, Bet, I'm down. First off, this is not a cabin. Bitch, this is a mansion. It's a mansion, it's a huge fucking house.

SPEAKER_02

But if you come from money, it might be a cabin to him.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, and I hate that.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I hate that. Um, I loved how the house is laid out.

SPEAKER_02

It was very beautiful, it was a really pretty house for sure.

SPEAKER_01

Like, I love like the center garden. Yeah. It's all surrounded by that.

SPEAKER_02

Big ass house.

SPEAKER_01

Huge ass house.

SPEAKER_02

Cabin. Boy.

SPEAKER_01

Girl. And so the whole premise is like the five days leading up to their wedding day. And these kind of weird things that happen, and things are adding up, and kind of getting into key themes. And I guess some of our favorite parts are parts like we really hated of the show. Um, one of the key themes is the weight of secrets. So, in your opinion, now granted, Rachel, I don't think, knew about her curse and her family.

SPEAKER_02

No, absolutely not.

SPEAKER_01

So the curse of her family is that when the woman marries someone, right? And if that is truly not your soulmate, then right after you both say I do, and it's sealed, then the woman will hemorrhage from every hole in her body and die. Because you did not marry the right person, which is where the witness or the ghost comes into play. So he was the one who started this curse long time, again, like 200 years ago.

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_01

And because of it, he is now having to witness every single marriage in her family's lineage and has to ask that question are you sure that he's the one? And if he's not, then whoop.

SPEAKER_02

The way they hemorrhage is fucking insane.

SPEAKER_01

Brother, every whole, every part of your body.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it was we're gonna we're gonna we're gonna get into it.

SPEAKER_01

We're gonna get into it.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So um, Rachel ends up finding this out because there's like this little plot twist where I was like, holy shit. Also, side note, I love that they brought in our one of our favorite scream queens. Um Victoria per. She's in the haunted of Hill House. She's in um, she plays the little sister, Nellie, in the Haunted of Hill House.

SPEAKER_02

She was in there?

SPEAKER_01

The Nobec. She plays the mom. You talking about? Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Shut the fuck up. There's no way.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, she plays the mom. They brought in like a scream queen to play her mom. What's her name? Uh, you might just want to look up. Like her first name, I think, is Victoria, and the last name starts with a P, but I can't say it.

SPEAKER_02

She's in the haunting of the house?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I didn't even see her in there.

SPEAKER_01

Girl, she plays the mom from like the point of view of the dad recording.

SPEAKER_02

Oh my god, yeah, I forgot about that.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

I didn't even like clock her. I didn't even see.

SPEAKER_01

You didn't clock? No. Girl, I saw her face. I was like, oh my god, I'm dying.

SPEAKER_02

Uh I love that show. I need to watch it again.

SPEAKER_01

I watch it for funsies. It's so good. That was, see, that's a show that, in my opinion, really got horror right. And I always had to be second-guessing. I did not know. I did not know what was gonna happen. I didn't know that Nelly was the bit neck lady.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, we should speak about that.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that'd be a really good one. Anyways, so sorry. Back on topic.

SPEAKER_02

Um we just stayed getting off track, honestly.

SPEAKER_01

We really do.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So, with this curse, that's kind of the gist of it. Okay. Well, as tales unfold, um, Rachel comes to find us out from her dad because he ends up trying to crash the wedding because Nikki lied and said he didn't send her dad an invitation, even though they've been estranged for like five plus years.

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_01

And that's how he knew where they were. And her dad comes to warn her that that's the place that her mom died was in a cabin not too far away from where they're gonna get married.

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_01

And she hemorrhaged. Yeah. Which comes to find out that Jules knew come to knew him as the sorry man because he kept saying, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, as his brand new wife is hemorrhaging out and she's pregnant and has to end up cutting Rachel out of her belly.

SPEAKER_02

Bitch, that fucking scene was crazy. Now they're remembering it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So um, it was obviously a shotgun wedding, and then she ended up dying, and the dad was like, Well, fuck, I can't let my wife and my daughter die, so it cuts out Rachel, and obviously that's where all his fucked up head trauma comes from. Right. But no, he never told Rachel any of that.

SPEAKER_00

Damn.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. He just said, like, oh, your mom like died in a car accident.

SPEAKER_02

But like, if he knew it was a curse, why would he like keep that from her?

SPEAKER_01

Exactly. This is what the weight of secrets. This is what that like key theme is. So, one, should have Rachel's dad kept the secret from Rachel.

SPEAKER_02

No.

SPEAKER_01

No.

SPEAKER_02

Should have fucking told her that.

SPEAKER_01

But when is the right time to say, oh hey, by the way, your mother side of the family has been cursed, and you can't get married to anyone unless you truly know that they're your soulmate. And how do you truly know if someone is your soulmate?

SPEAKER_02

You don't.

SPEAKER_01

Hello. Okay, so there's that way to the secret. And then once Rachel found this out, she did not tell Nikki. Should Rachel have told Nikki?

SPEAKER_02

I mean, eventually she does, technically.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but should she have told Nikki as soon as she found out?

SPEAKER_02

I feel like I feel like um she was still processing it and she was like, this isn't real, right?

SPEAKER_01

Right. Like she wanted the evidence beforehand.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. So I think her waiting and then her and um No.

SPEAKER_00

No.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, find up all that about the marriage and death certificates and Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

All the all the things. Oh, it's so good. It's so good. Um, as the story unfolds, and you're like, oh shit, like that makes sense, and that makes sense, and that makes sense. It had me questioning, which's why I told you. I was like, I really want to do one about this show. I want to tail end it with sure, we're gonna do like a light recap, hopefully get some people who haven't seen it to watch it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Um, but to really talk about how do you know? Especially like if if everyone had this curse in your family lineage, yeah. Would you ever actually marry anyone?

SPEAKER_02

Because you'd be too fucking scared to like personally, if I didn't know for a fact that the person that I was marrying was my soulmate, right? Probably not, no. At least for me, I wouldn't.

SPEAKER_01

Right. Uh, it's just so nerve-wracking.

SPEAKER_02

Terrifying.

SPEAKER_01

To hemorrhage from every socket?

SPEAKER_02

From every fucking orifice of your body? Yes. No, absolutely not.

SPEAKER_01

Oh god, how painful. Okay, so like the Wait of Secrets, that was the big theme in the show. Another big theme is the initability of consequences. The the fact that consequences are always gonna happen. If something happens, there's always gonna be a repercussion to it. Right, right? So the generational curse fulfillment. This was so interesting to me. So if if the witness, the the ghost I call him, lays out terms and agreements and says, Okay, so you have a wedding, everyone's gonna show up to your wedding, right? Because Nikki does come from a big family.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Um, so again, everyone's showing up. So that means people who are married, who have kids, all the things show up to this wedding. And if you say I do, and Nikki's truly not your soulmate, then you're just the only one who gets to be hemorrhaged. But you have until the sun sets, which I think there it was like the winter time, it was like four or five.

SPEAKER_02

I think it was four. 48 or something like that.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, because they were like northern east coast, like Maine almost. Yeah. Um, so super early sunset time in the winter. So he said, but if you don't say I do, everyone's still here for your wedding. The curse will then project itself onto everyone who is there. And if they do not marry their soulmate, they will hemorrhage as sacrifice for you.

SPEAKER_02

That's right, because um you can they can you can kind of flip it back to Nikki or in his family, like his lineage.

SPEAKER_01

Because it then like switches the curse from her lineage to his lineage. Right. It's like, oh, you don't want to do this? Well, someone's gotta get God.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So then it'll just go to Nikki's family. Yeah. And then it all curses Nikki's family. And then his bloodline and death.

SPEAKER_02

That was fucking crazy.

SPEAKER_01

So again, the consequences of well, you're gonna have a wedding, so like now what are you gonna do? Right. Is it your life or his life?

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Or is it no one's life because he could be your soulmate?

SPEAKER_02

At the end of the show, I was kind of hoping that he was.

SPEAKER_01

Um, but as it unfolded, I really was hoping no, he wasn't.

SPEAKER_02

Really?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yeah, there's oh girl, we'll get there.

SPEAKER_02

Oh god.

SPEAKER_01

Oh girl, um, another one is doubt. Okay, so obviously going there, no one knows of a curse, they're happy, they're go lucky. Their story and how they met originally is cute. It is cute until Jules blows the cap off of it.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Which then puts doubt into her head. Right. Because it's not destined at that point. Right. Because up to that point, she was like, Well, how I met Nikki was like, it was like fate. He has he has to be my soulmate. Right. Jules goes, No. And I have timeline. He basically said, Bitch, I got receipts. I got receipts, bitch.

SPEAKER_02

She has the receipts.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. And so he basically said, My brother is not your soulmate because XYZ.

SPEAKER_02

Right.

SPEAKER_01

And that put all the doubt in her head to be like, Well, shit, maybe we shouldn't do this.

SPEAKER_02

Right. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

He goes, What do you mean? She goes, You fucking lied to me. Our whole relationship is a lie. I don't want to spoil how they met and then how Jules blew the cap off of it. If you want to know, you should definitely go watch the show on Netflix.

SPEAKER_02

Absolutely.

SPEAKER_01

Um that flew like threw me for a loop.

SPEAKER_02

No, absolutely. It was fucking. It was fucking crazy. There was a lot of like there were so many, like, um, what's the fucking word? My brain's just not walking parking, bro.

SPEAKER_01

It's the Vaseline Popper. Girl, or the mixed popper. The mixed popper. That's exactly.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah. Christ. Um You said it earlier.

SPEAKER_01

What the fuck is the word? Oh consequences? No. Repercussions?

SPEAKER_02

No.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_02

Right. Plot twists. Jesus Christ. I pulled that one right out of my ass.

SPEAKER_01

Perfect.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

You're delicious.

SPEAKER_02

There was a lot of plot uh plot twists. That's all I was trying to say.

SPEAKER_01

There really was. Um, it was like so some of them were subtle, then some of them really slapped you in the face. Like that one. Again, I wish the show would have came out for me personally in my earlies to mid hell, even into like my late 20s. Because it's so eye-opening to see how things can actually work out in relationships. Sure. If you're looking from a bird's eye view.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Because there have been times on the show where I was watching Rachel and I was like, I was in that position.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Obviously, not with no fucking curse. Cause if here's the thing I would be dead right now, because I have been married. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I've it obviously In that position.

SPEAKER_00

No.

SPEAKER_01

Obviously. I would have bled from every part of my body. Literally. Um so many things like that. I agree with you. It's very, very plot twisty. Yeah. Which I think is what kept me so intrigued. Now, the last kind of consequence is the retroactive punishment of your decision that you make. So again, you're gonna marry him, you're not gonna marry him. You're gonna keep it in your lineage, you're gonna pass it down to his lineage. This is where Jude, the 10-year-old boy, really comes into play.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Because he truly is, I think, Rachel's deciding factor. And this is where I think Jules kind of says, I have a son. So if you don't do this because it's already happening, and like you don't want to, I I I understand that because it's your life, but it's also my son's life.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, absolutely.

SPEAKER_01

And so there's always that retroactive punishment of you're damned if you do, and you're damned if you don't.

SPEAKER_02

Basically, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

As soon as she found out the curse, which again, I feel like her dad should have told her, but then again, how do you tell your 26-year-old daughter, hey, you should never get married.

SPEAKER_02

I feel like I feel like it would be I mean, it'd be a weird fucking conversation for sure, but definitely doable.

SPEAKER_01

If he had the footage. I don't like if my dad told me, like, hey, you shouldn't marry so and so. Talking about my first marriage. Hey, you shouldn't marry so and so, why? And he'd be like, Let me just sit you down.

SPEAKER_02

Watch this video real quick.

SPEAKER_01

Watch this fucking VHS real quick and I'll show you.

SPEAKER_02

He's like, I got the receipts.

SPEAKER_01

Literally. And I'd be like, oh shit, wedding, off.

SPEAKER_02

Off, we're done.

SPEAKER_01

Could have saved me a whole bunch of fucking time. Right.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it's crazy. I'm I'm surprised that uh I'm surprised he didn't like tell her to.

SPEAKER_01

Literally. Um, do you have any like favorite moments from the show? Or oh shit moments that we haven't talked about.

SPEAKER_02

Um It's kind of tough. Yeah, I mean, we kind of touched base on like the main ones that at least I saw. Uh Right.

SPEAKER_01

Um, I'll tell you one that I hated.

SPEAKER_02

What's that?

SPEAKER_01

Um when Rachel finally does tell Nikki about the curse. They go into the room for like an hour. And they're just like back and forth with the wheel.

SPEAKER_02

Wait, yes. The actual wedding?

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_02

It's crazy that he paused when she was already like committed. Fuck.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And oh my god. Okay, hold on.

SPEAKER_01

It's all it's all it's all coming back.

SPEAKER_02

It's all coming back.

SPEAKER_01

Ooh, there ain't no out of the way.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, so that fucking um that juice thing that she had to drink.

unknown

Ooh!

SPEAKER_02

I won't tell you everything, but the one part that fucking got me.

SPEAKER_01

Was it the cum?

SPEAKER_02

It was actually was not the cum. It was uh Jules cutting off her fucking pinky toe. Her putting it in the glass, and I was like, Like she's gonna drink her whole toe. Please don't drink that. Please don't drink it. Don't drink it.

SPEAKER_01

Girl, but here's the thing. If you're so desperate, would you?

SPEAKER_02

If I had to. Or just call off the wedding.

SPEAKER_01

But then it's like the other lineage. Like you still care for this other person. Like, do you want to like ruin their whole lineage? Or do you really just say fuck you?

SPEAKER_02

I would have been like, suck my ass.

SPEAKER_01

I'm not drinking my big toe.

SPEAKER_02

Not drinking my big toe. That's insane. I'm surprised that she um she went through all that that work to make that glass of To not fucking do shit. To not fucking drink it. Like, are you kidding me? Rachel, babe, what are you doing?

SPEAKER_01

That's when I was like, Rachel and I are not the same. We're not as similar as I thought we were. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I'd be look, look, look. She was fucking she committed.

SPEAKER_01

She did.

SPEAKER_02

She f she fully fucking committed to that man.

SPEAKER_01

And then dropped.

SPEAKER_02

And I was like, well, what was the what was it for? Why'd you do it? Why'd you do that? Hello?

SPEAKER_01

Hello? Now you're down a big toe.

SPEAKER_02

Wasn't her pinky toe or something?

SPEAKER_01

Oh no, no, you're right. It was her pinky toe. Now you're down a pinky toe.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Christ alive.

SPEAKER_02

Also, just also going back to that scene, she hopped up off that fucking table so fast after she just lost her pinky toe. And I was just like, uh okay, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I would have, what's that called? Uh that's not finite Lego. That's a skin condition.

SPEAKER_02

Wait, what did you say?

SPEAKER_01

Vertigo. I would have vertigo so fucking bad. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

If I hopped up was like, I don't know, uh I mean I guess it was fine because Jules like Jules stitched her up and everything. So like But like still though, you just lost a fucking appendage on your body. Hell no.

SPEAKER_01

And watched it. No. Yeah. I can't even watch needles go into my arm when I get my blood drawn.

SPEAKER_02

Girl.

SPEAKER_01

Hello.

SPEAKER_02

Girl. What are we doing? Okay, anyways, I just wanted to. That was like that was my one of my like uh oh shit. Oh shit moments. I was like, okay, well, this is what we're doing, I guess.

SPEAKER_01

Literally. So that was insane. Um, yeah, like I said, I would have had vertigo if I would have hopped up that quick, um, having my fucking pinky toe cut off.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And then not and not do anything with it. I'm just like, oh, I just cut off my pinky toe just for funsies, basically. Yeah, that was crazy. The part I'm talking about is when they're having like this really deep conversation about she's like, Well, what the fuck did you do? Because now, do you not understand, like, if if we don't go through with this, like that your lineage is fucked if you're not my soulmate? He goes, Do you not think I'm your soulmate? And they have like this whole big argument, it's a really good dialogue scene. The part that was so gut-wrenching to me, I watched this part by myself. I don't know where Jim was at. Um I actually had to pause it, remove myself, and then come back to it because I've had someone say this to me and it sucks. It sucks to hear. And he's basically telling her all these fucking reasons why, you know, he's doing this and he did this for her, and what he says is, Rachel, you don't understand how fucking hard it is to love you. And she automatically responds with, I know. And I said, Oh, ooh, pause.

SPEAKER_02

I'm pretty sure I wrote that down. I was like, Yeah, ooh, that one hurt a little bit.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you said, ooh, okay, so being told you are so hard to love fucks with your head so hard. I was like, ooh, it put me back in that mind space from like fucking obviously years and years and years ago.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah. I was I was shooketh to my fucking core. Yeah. I was like, okay.

SPEAKER_01

We needed an intermission for sure.

SPEAKER_02

But well, so she, I mean, she was like, she's going to school to be a therapist, right?

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_02

So I'm like, I'm surprised she admitted that as well. Like, I'm surprised she didn't like clap back.

SPEAKER_01

She's like, but quit fucking gaslighting me.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Um, she handled that whole situation like I feel like pretty well up until like that point where she's just I don't know if it was exhaustion, I don't know if it was self-realization that like maybe I am kind of hard to love, but then at the same time, how you're projecting that.

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_01

That's a projection of yourself, I think. Yeah. But she didn't call him out on it. Um, that really fucking sucked. Um, also, I'm not gonna spoil the ending. The ending was a big oh shit moment for me.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Uh, we're not spoiling it.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, do you want to? We could so spoil it if you want to. I mean, I just don't understand the ending still.

SPEAKER_02

It was a mind fuck for me. Yeah. Because like I don't know. We can if you want. If not, then y'all are just gonna have to go watch it.

SPEAKER_01

I say we let you guys go watch it because I still don't understand it. I love it. I don't understand how how it happened.

SPEAKER_02

No, because it didn't make any sense.

SPEAKER_01

No. No. Um, go watch it again on Netflix. Something very bad is going to happen. Um, and that's kind of like where I guess I kind of want to transition into the latter part of this episode, which is I think the biggest theme of the show. How do you know? How do you know if a soulmate or do you or do you believe that there's only one? Or do you believe in multiples?

SPEAKER_02

I don't know, honestly. I mean, I feel like I feel like we could probably have multiple soulmates.

SPEAKER_01

I agree. I agree.

SPEAKER_02

Um I don't think you can you aren't like restricted to just one. Um, but how do you fucking know?

SPEAKER_01

Well, here here's where I I come from. Um there are, in my opinion, three types of soulmates. There's romantic, which is a deep transformative love. So, like, Jim. Jim has shown me transformative love in the four years we've been together. Okay, I consider him a romantic soulmate.

SPEAKER_00

True.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. There's a karmic soulmate. So people who have taught you a lesson who have come into your life to put you on the right track. So if we like were to jump back to like our, you know what I'm talking about, to our uh doing it for the plot. So like for me, that kind of jumps back into a karmic soulmate for someone that I was in a situationship with because this person put me on the right track to find my romantic soulmate in gym. Right. Right? Okay, I have one of those. I have a karmic soulmate, and then I have platonic soulmates, which are friends who understand who you are on the most deepest form of level, which I would see you as you're my platonic soulmate. Yeah. And I'd hope to find you in every lifetime because I feel like you know I feel like we should.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, earlier, I mean, earlier you text me or you sent me something. I don't know, I don't know what it was, but or no, I was watching a TikTok you sent me, and you were like, uh it was something about soulmates, I think. Yeah. And you were like, you commented on it, and you're like, uh I think it was, I think this is a threat is what you said.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I said and I was like, oh, I said and this is a threat. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And I was like, oh cute, soulmates. Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So I consider like us platonic soulmates.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, absolutely.

SPEAKER_01

Um, so I've always been a firm believer that there's not just one person. No. Oh my god, how like crazy how crazy would that be? Yeah. Um, do you have or do you do you have or have you had romantic karmic platonic? Now that you kind of see it in in that kind of transformative light.

SPEAKER_02

Um, I'd say I've had a lot of karmic uh soulmates. Sure. For sure. A lot of uh learning lessons, maybe a little too many.

SPEAKER_01

For your taste or your liking.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah. Now that I think about it and now that I've actually like heard the definition of it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, girl. I don't think the universe wants me to find my romantic soulmate.

SPEAKER_01

I think it's great when I asked you earlier, like, would you do it? You're like, no. I think that's because you've had so many of the karmic versus the romantic that you're like, I've been burned. I feel like I would have died.

SPEAKER_02

Girl, I've been lit on fire. Ten relationships ago. Right, right, lit on fire.

SPEAKER_01

Burn at the stake.

SPEAKER_02

I'm telling you, the universe is out to fucking get me.

SPEAKER_01

Well, we gotta change that.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

He said, and moving on.

SPEAKER_00

Um anyways.

SPEAKER_01

So obviously, for our our listeners out there, there is a romantic ideal, traditional views that there is only one person out there for everyone. Like if we were to just entertain that, I don't know if I even could entertain that because to me that's so boring, and to me, that's so um, gosh, that's so if you believe this, guys, I'm so sorry, but it's so narrow-minded to me.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

That I can't form the idealism of having to search my entire life for one person and then just like fingers and toes cross that it's the right person.

SPEAKER_02

Right.

SPEAKER_01

To me, that's too much.

SPEAKER_02

You definitely have to be more open-minded to it. Um, but like I was saying, you definitely I mean, there's not you can't be restricted to just one fucking soulmate. Like that's it's it's ludicrous. I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know. I don't know if that's us being more liberal in that.

unknown

I just took another popper.

SPEAKER_01

He did. His little popper. No, I don't.

SPEAKER_02

It's just an inhaler. Just smell it. It smells like menthol.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, that's nice.

SPEAKER_02

It's refreshing. Oh, that's nice. You should get one, bro.

SPEAKER_01

I should get one. It might replace my nicotine addiction.

SPEAKER_02

It's so good. Anyways, because I like that.

SPEAKER_01

I like that. Woo! Poppers.

SPEAKER_02

It's like$2.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, really? Weird. At the Wally World? Yeah. Oh, per. Um, I think we're just more liberal with that. First, I think if we were raised more conservative and we stayed conservative, I feel like people would maybe maybe our answers would be different.

SPEAKER_00

Sure.

SPEAKER_01

But we've also experienced so much life and so many different walks of life and people and backgrounds and and idealisms of of life. I think it's just I can never wrap my head around just one person.

SPEAKER_02

Absolutely. No, I I totally agree.

SPEAKER_01

So I think we fall more into the reason, the season, the lifetime.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

So the season, the one who comes in when is most needed. Rather, that's romantic, rather that's karmic, rather that's platonic. Like you came into a season of my life and stayed.

SPEAKER_02

Sure.

SPEAKER_01

The reason, the karmic.

SPEAKER_02

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

The lifetime, those the actual soulmate, the one you choose to spend the rest of your life with.

SPEAKER_02

By the way, guys, this is the first time I'm hearing this, so I'm like processing and I'm like, oh, this is a lot.

SPEAKER_01

You're like, oh my god, I'm in therapy.

SPEAKER_02

Right, right. And it's free.

SPEAKER_01

And it's free therapy, and it's live and it's great. Taking more poppers.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, so good.

SPEAKER_01

And of course, that idealism is exploring different ideas and different people who enter our lives to fulfill specific spiritual and emotional needs at different stages. Um, obviously, I don't even want to ask you because you're just gonna say, yeah, I'm gonna say, yeah. And that's what we believe versus the romantic ideal or the traditional, to me, it's like traditional ideal. Sure. Like the Christianity Catholic, you know, yeah. One and done. And that's just not again. I would be dead.

SPEAKER_02

So yeah, I probably would be too. Actually, you know what? No, I wouldn't, because I wouldn't say I do. No, you'd be like, fuck y'all, I'm out.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you'd be like, um, I remember like this one time, like your phone went off, and uh no.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, have fun imaging.

SPEAKER_01

Literally, have fun with your lineage, not my lineage.

SPEAKER_02

Right, right. I'm gonna go.

SPEAKER_01

Shut up. Okay, so to kind of wrap it up, I kind of asked you the question.

SPEAKER_02

What's that?

SPEAKER_01

So I'm gonna ask you, did you think that the characters were actual soulmates? Rachel and Nikki, I'm talking about.

SPEAKER_02

No. I didn't I didn't see it. But side note, um, did you see oh wait, no, it would give away the fucking ending.

SPEAKER_01

It would give away the ending.

SPEAKER_02

I want to talk about it though. It was so fucking cute. Do you know what I'm talking about?

SPEAKER_01

Which part? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Between Jules and I was like cute. So cute. I like that. I was like, oh, you I was gonna talk about that.

SPEAKER_02

Like, that was my one of my favorite parts, but then we were like, we weren't sure if we were going to uh reveal. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

It just kind of shows that I guess we can kind of say that Jules and Nell were going through a rough patch and they contemplated divorce. And let's just say that them choosing to not divorce was the best decision they could have made for each other and for Jude.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, absolutely. So it was so fucking cute. To go back to your question though, uh no, I do not think they were soulmates.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Do you think they were?

SPEAKER_01

I think only because of the ending, which still confuses me. I think that they were soulmates, but not romantic. Like if we go back to those three categories, they were he was a karmic for her.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And maybe that's why the ending happened the way it happened, because technically a soulmate is a soulmate, which then plays on to why I want to do the episode. Yeah. Because I was like, well, fuck. That's the only thing I could think of that had the ending in the way it did.

SPEAKER_02

That would actually make a lot more sense.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Which I I love that.

SPEAKER_02

I think we're gonna have to do a part two of this.

SPEAKER_01

I think you guys should should say we want part two so Brandon can get us part two and we can do it in time.

SPEAKER_02

I just want to talk about the ending. That's all.

SPEAKER_01

Just the ending of something bad. Okay.

SPEAKER_02

That'll be a very short part two.

SPEAKER_01

It will. So yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Let us know what you think, and until next time, I'm Brandon.

SPEAKER_01

And I'm Ashley.

SPEAKER_02

And this is committed technically.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, bye.
