What the Heck? New Listing Details - Episode 91

Whatnot dropped a listing update and I caught 2 things right away that are making me quite frustrated. Pricing is now buried on page 2. And if you don’t like your first photo? You can’t just swap it out anymore — you have to delete everything and start over.

I’m sharing what I found this morning, why it’s adding unnecessary time to every single listing, and why I’m pretty sure Whatnot is not running this stuff by sellers first. Stay tuned — I’m doing a deeper dive into this update once I figure out more, and I’ll have a full episode for you soon.

Oh my gosh, what did what not do? Listing has just become a nightmare. Oh my gosh. I'm in here taking pictures of Hummels, and now it's two pages. You have to put whether things are hazardous materials, which is the should be on the second page, not the money on the second page, how much it's worth, or you're selling it for, I should say. And this is ridiculous. Also, you can't just go in and edit the page, your first picture. Like I took a picture of one of the girls and these humble figurines, and I decided I didn't like her. So I wanted just to go in and quickly change it. You used to be able to uh, you know, choose a different picture and take another picture. Now it's only giving you the option to delete it, which means if I took eight pictures, I have to start all over again and take another eight pictures instead of just you know changing out one picture. So I am not happy about this. I'm definitely gonna do a deep dive into it. But if you guys have been listening at any point in any of these, you know that whatnot is constantly changing. They're adapting. Some things are good, some things are bad. But I am telling you, this is bad. This is very, very bad because instead of you just making your listing on one page, now you've got two, you've got more stuff to click. It's just not good. I'm hoping they get some, you know, feedback from this that this is not good. It just happened this morning, I think, or maybe last night. Um, today is Saturday, I think it's like the 23rd. And I am really upset and frustrated by this because it's taking me way longer than it should. Um, just going back and clicking that picture. I'm I just this one doll where it should have taken, I don't know, five minutes maybe for me to do a good listing. It's now doubling my time because I have to go back and take the pictures again and you know make sure everything's right. Maybe not doubling, but it's definitely adding a minute or two. And so I am super frustrated and irritated. What not? What in the hell are you doing? Do you think about the people who are selling stuff? Do you talk to us? Do you have us do any kind of testing beforehand, before you roll this stuff out? I just uh the frustration level when you're in a rush and then they do this stuff to us, and we're just like, okay, now we got to figure this out. Now we've got to change up. I'm not gonna be spending as much time taking pictures if I can't, if I don't know. I'm gonna have to figure it out. You're gonna have to figure it out. We're all gonna have to figure it out because here we go again. But I'm telling you, after my last few posts and the things that have happened, I'm just getting more and more frustrated with whatnot right now. And what they're supposed to be doing for us sellers is making our lives better, not worse. And I get that they want to put the hazmat thing on there in case there's any kind of I that totally makes sense, but you don't put it on the second page where you can't click over. It just I I I really think that they're not talking to sellers, they're not having people try it because anybody in their right mind would look at this and go, wait, why did they do that? Anyways, that's it. That's the whole podcast for today. I'm frustrated. I don't get to go to my camp that I was supposed to go to on Sunday uh for medical reasons. They're trying to get me uh a doctor to sign off so I can go maybe Thursday or the week after or something. Um, but that personally is just uh so uh one frustration after another for me. I hope that uh yeah, I would say I hope it's not so bad for you in whatever category, but it makes you not even want to do the listing sometimes. I mean, I'm I'm like, do I even take the time to list these things anymore if I'm gonna have to fight with pictures and going over to the second page and adding more time and energy to this? Is it worth it, or should I just do some random polls? That's where I'm at right now. Um, I keep canceling my shows and moving them back because I've got so much of my plate right now, but I really wanted this to be a good show, but also there's no pre-bids, and that's the other thing. You guys know you can go to somebody's show ahead of time and put pre-bids in. And I really feel like if there was, you know, four or five pre-bids, I'd feel better about the show. But right now there are none. And then it's like, well, do I just push it back and wait for it to get more pre-bids or do I keep going? It's not good for you to push back shows. It's not ever, ever good for you to cancel your shows. Don't ever cancel your shows, but it's also not good to change the times. It's it's best if you can lock it in, load it in, and and the algorithm's happy with you, and you're not having to move it all over the place. And I have been absolutely terrible about you know having a show that was scheduled for 7:45 in the morning and then going, oh, I'll do it at 10. No, I'll do it at 1. Now I'll do it at 4, and then doing it at 7 o'clock at night. I can't even, I think it's been three times that I've done that lately. So um don't do that. That's not a good thing. But I'm today I'm thinking maybe I do a pop-up book show in lieu of this. I I just really don't know. I so frustrating, whatnot. Anyways, I hope you guys are having a good day. I just wanted to tell you about that update. You'll see it, you sellers, when you go and you start doing listings, you'll see it. But the fact that you can't just change that first picture and amend it, and you uh basically have to go through and delete all of them and start over again. That is terrible. And the fact that the money is on the second page is terrible. So, anyways, maybe somebody at whatnot will actually listen to sellers and change things for the positive. All right, that's it.
