This week we look at Rose's gaming emporium in Dumfries, Va, LIVE! casino in Petersburg, Va, and did I get robbed of a GRAND???

Well, good morning. It is April the 20th, 2026, and straight from the Highley Cavany studio, this is Real Squat Talk with yours truly, Willie B. So I gotta tell you, I went on a little road trip this weekend, and I went and checked out um for a one for a second time, I went and checked out Rose's Gaming Resort up there in Dumfries, Virginia. And then we also stopped by and we checked out the new Live Casino. That is the brand name, Live with an exclamation mark. So it's live. Live casino that they put in the tent that originally was at Danville when they started before they built the permanent structure. So we wanted to check out that new casino as well. Now, I've been to Live before, we'll talk about that in a minute because there's a big one up in Maryland, and I think there's multiple. I will say I'm not having as many voice issues tonight, so hopefully you won't get the same coughing spell that you got last week. I do apologize for that. But I was battling pneumonia, but the show had to go on. But I'm finally just about over it completely, and so hopefully things will go smooth tonight. Voice is doing a lot better, still a little tweaky, but it's okay as long as you can understand me. So, Rose's Gaming Resort. What is my honest opinion of this? I gotta say, after two visits, I'm still not impressed. It's a nice facility, don't get me wrong. It's a very nice, uh, very large facility. Um, they've got restaurants, they've got hotel, they got everything. I'm just not excited about the gaming, and I'll tell you why. Now, I I'm on board for all kinds of slot machines, whether it's class one, class two, class three, or whatever, even if they have no class, I'm I'm on board with it, okay? But when you talk about like my little tribal casino down in Texas, and they have the red screens like I've told you all about that are based on past bingo games that are running in the background of the machines instead of an RNG. There are machines in America that have that same sort of principle, but they run off of past horse races. I have been to now three different casinos that do the past horse races. It could be just my dumb luck. I don't know. But I am just not I well, for one, I have no luck, so therefore, no, I'm not gonna like it because I three times I've played them now and haven't done any good. All it does is just take my money, and it's just probably why I don't bet on horses. I'll stick with the slot machines. But I I don't know, it's just it has a really different feel to it, and uh maybe I just can't get into the rhythm. And yes, I had the good luck duck, and the good luck duck looked at me and said, Hey buddy, you know, I I may be from the animal kingdom, but I don't know anything about this horse racing stuff. I can't help you. And he did not, so there's that, but it is a really nice facility. Um, would I try it again? More than likely, uh, because I love to visit up in that area. You've got Fredericksburg, Virginia, you've got uh Washington, you've just got a lot of different really cool areas uh up there to visit and make a weekend trip. And Rose's Gaming Resort. Now don't confuse it with Rosie's. Um, I believe they're owned by the same company, but definitely not impressed with Rosie's. But Rose's Gaming Resort is really nice, it's really large. I just wish I could have some different luck. So who knows? Maybe the next time I try it, you know, I may have some different luck. And then I'll say, ah, yeah, you know what? It's not too bad. But for right now, it's not one of my favorite. So as we came back through Virginia, we stopped at Petersburg, and that is where they are building the new Live Casino. Now, the live brand has they have multiple casinos throughout the U.S. And they're actually in a very uh aggressive building um kind of momentum right now, if you will. Uh they're kind of almost like with I would say keeping up with Hard Rock because Hard Rock, as you know, they're building quite a few right now. And so those are the two kind of brands to really watch right now Hard Rock and Live. And but Live is opening. I've been to the Live casino in Maryland, and it it's very nice, it's large, it's very well thought out. It's not it's I've had good luck there, so of course I like it. But it's you know, it is, it's a really nice casino, and I I love live in Maryland, it's it's it's huge. Just go ahead and tell you that. But the one in Petersburg, this is what I want to talk about, because I've been wanting to check it out, and it is in the exact same tent that Danville Caesars used um to before they built the concrete facility. Now, for those of you who have never been into a casino that is in a tent, let me explain what I mean. Because trust me, your brain will paint a completely different picture than what I'm about to tell you. Because I thought the same thing when I heard, well, it's in a tent right now, it's temporary. I'm thinking, a tent? Well, I know it can't be like a camping tent, it would have to be something in along the lines of a circus tent. And you would be correct, but understand when you walk into these tents that they're doing as temporary casinos, you walk into the restroom, marble floors, marble tile on the walls, uh restaurants, I mean uh bars, everything that you could table games, carpet, your traditional casino carpet going out throughout. It it looks like you're in a brick and mortar casino until you look up, and that's where you see the aluminum grid work of the uh structure of the tent. Then you realize, oh yeah, I'm in a tent. So you can forget where you're at for a few minutes. But they had a lot of games. I don't think, in my honest opinion, it was not as packed tightly with games as what Caesars did. They they had more table games. Um, and and I I that I thought that was cool. I'm just not a table game person, but I think it did kind of limit them on the amount of slots. I'm not I didn't catch the number of how many they had. I want to say 600, 800, somewhere along that line. But there was they did have a lot of games that are no longer at the Danville Caesars and games that I miss, like the single line uh pinball and the single line what do you call the uh top dollar? I'm losing my train of thought. So that single line top dollar, because you can play one dollar max bet, three bucks, and you could actually win a decent jackpot. Same thing, you could bump it up to two bucks. Now your max bet is six bucks, and you know you can you could win a really nice jackpot off of top dollar. Of course, they had top dollar grand as well, but they also had a lot of different types of hold and spin of the dragon link, the cashlink, all those games. Uh, one of my absolute favorites is the um oh my mind just went blank, but the high stakes where it has the briefcase, you get the three briefcases, and then that's your and then the center, it makes one big coin, and that's how you can get the hold and spin. So I enjoyed playing that because I haven't seen that since Atlantic City. Um, seems like there might have been one in the Danville Casino when it first was in the tent, but then they got rid of it. So I don't know. But we did have some good luck. Uh one of the cool promos that they were running today was, and I know why they're doing this, was until the end of April or April the 30th, they will match your tier level, even if you already have signed up at live. So they matched our tier level, so that was really cool. Um, I enjoyed that, but we both know why they're doing that. They're trying to pull people from Danville. It's like, well, we'll just you know go to Caesars because I've got I'm I'm diamond plus, you know, or I'm aluminum. Well, you know, so they're gonna match that. If you're aluminum, they you probably don't want them to match it, but I digress. It but it it was cool that they, even if you were already signed up, that they're matching that tier level, so that was really cool. But it was nice to play some different games. Um, I didn't play a whole lot of different games, I stuck with what I know. Uh, Dragon Link, uh Phoenix Link. I actually did not see a Buffalo Link. I'm sure they had some, but somehow or another I missed out on that. I avoided the pigs, I avoided the pigs like the plague. I'm sorry, they have they have been horrible lately, and I'm just I'm I'm I'm disowning the pigs for a while, as they have disowned me. But I want to tell you before I let you go, I want to tell you about something that happened while we were alive, and this has never happened to me. As a matter of fact, I was so upset about it that I decided to when we after we left the casino and we stopped for lunch, I decided to go on to Google and look at AI and see if I truly got robbed. So let me explain. I'm playing Dragon Link. I'm playing uh the Century Dragon Link, so to speak. I'm doing quite well. I'm I'm hitting some wins, I'm hitting some bonuses. Then I was on Nickel Denom, 375, mid-bet, three-time multiply bet, thinking maybe I can hit that major, even though it wasn't maxed out. I hit the holding spin. All 15 blocks are lit up. There are orbs flashing in all fifteen. I get excited, but I calm myself. As it progresses, I get down to the last square. And guess what? I have three spins left, one square remaining, and it's live. All three remaining spins were live. An orb flash in there constantly, like every spin, two or three times that it was just flash, flash, flash, flash. And I'm thinking, I got it. I finally got the major. I'm the the grand, I finally won the grand. Third spin, first spin, nothing, second spin, nothing. Third spin. Guess what? You guessed it. Nothing. It flashed all three spins. And all that did, all that meant was that the machine is live for the jackpot. Doesn't mean you're gonna get it. You gotta it all depends on the RNG. But I felt like I got robbed because I as many times as I've played Dragon Link, and good lord, if I had a dollar for every hour that I've played Dragonlink, I would be rich. But the damn thing flashed all three times and no grand. And I just thought, man, I I just got robbed. But come to find out, that is actually can happen. And do you want to know what your odds are of winning if that happens? If it flashes all three times, your odds can still be somewhere around one in 600,000, which I'm sure is better than one in 2.9 million. But never the mind. That was just felt like I got robbed because it was just flashed all three times. I just knew it was about to land, but it did not, and it's okay. But it just have you ever had that happen before? And of course, it was like I found out a greater weakness than maxed out majors because then I didn't want to leave the machine at all because I felt like this machine wants to play the grand, but it didn't. I finally got up and left it. But no grand, no major. So maybe next time. But you know, there's always there's always the uh next trip to Danville. Maybe that's where I'm supposed to win my first grand. I don't know. And you know, it's funny, we were talking the other day, and I was talking with some people that love to play slots, and of course they're older, and I said, you know, somebody over over like if they were standing off to the side, uh, eavesdropping on our conversation, we're like, Oh yeah, you know, I got my first grand, a boy or a girl. What? No, my first grand. So on one wall you got pictures of your grandkids, on the other wall, you got pictures of your other grands, the 10,000, the 20,000, the 50,000. So I I digress on that. But I mean, you talk about the elephant in the room. That was definitely elephant in the room when I thought I had the grand, and then I did not. So, but it's okay. That's why we call it, you know, chasing the possibility. And that was definitely a big possibility, and I'm gonna end it on that. Do not forget to cavernate and conquer, but also more important than that, don't forget if you gotta if you want to go play the slots, you gotta bring the duck, and that brings the luck.
