We’ve been taught that being busy means we’re getting things done—but what if that’s not true?

In today’s Daily Spark, we challenge the illusion of productivity. A packed schedule, nonstop emails, and constant movement can feel like progress… but are they actually moving you forward?

This quick reflection cuts through the noise and asks a powerful question:
Are you making progress—or just staying in motion?

Because real progress isn’t about doing more.
It’s about doing what actually matters.

Take a few minutes today to reset your focus, slow down, and choose intention over activity.

🔥 Don’t confuse motion with progress.
If the fire’s lit—share the grit.

This is a daily spark from Firetalk. You know, something is sitting with me. There's always some stuff sitting with me given what's going on. And I just want to I just want to get it out. We've been conditioned to believe that busy means productive. If we're busy, we're doing something. A full calendar, back-to-back meetings, emails nonstop, always moving. That's most of us, all of the time. And if you're busy all day, it feels like you're making progress. But here's the question that I keep coming back to. Are we really moving forward or just staying in motion? Because I'll tell you something, those are not the same thing. Busy is deceptive. It gives you that feeling of like I'm doing something, I'm accomplishing something without always producing, here's the key, the real results. And you can run from meeting to meeting and not solve one thing. It happens all the time. You can answer emails all day and never move the work that actually matters. You can fill your time with all of these things and still be stuck in the same place. And the danger is busy becomes comfortable because it looks like effort, it feels like work, and no one is really questioning it. But the question is, is there progress? Because progress is quieter, it's focused, it's intentional. And sometimes it requires you to do less, not more. So here's what I had to check myself on. I had to check myself on am I being productive or am I just busy? Because real progress doesn't come from doing everything because you can't do everything. It comes from doing the right things consistently. And sometimes that means slowing down long enough to decide what actually really matters. That's today's daily spark. Don't confuse motion with progress. If the fire is lit, share the grit.
