Doing More… Isn’t Fixing It - Episode 26
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
We’ve been trained to respond to problems the same way—
Do more. Add more. Push harder.
But what if that’s exactly why nothing is changing?
In this Daily Spark, Terrence Davis challenges a mindset that’s keeping leaders stuck—confusing activity with effectiveness.
Because let’s be real—
Busy feels productive.
But busy can also hide misalignment.
If the work isn’t connected to what actually matters…
If the right people aren’t in the conversation…
Then doing more isn’t progress—
it’s noise.
This episode is a reset.
Less effort.
More alignment.
Better results.
The question:
Is what you’re doing actually fixing it?
If the fire is lit—share the grit. 🔥

This is a daily spark from Firetalk. As we approach the end of our prospective school years and education, because we have not that much longer to go, doing more isn't fixing it. We've been conditioned to believe that when something isn't working, the answer is to do more. More meetings, more effort, more time, more this, more that. And what if it's not the issue? Because if we're honest and we really look at it, we're doing a whole lot right now. We're moving, we're working, we're handling a lot of things. But just because we're active doesn't mean we're effective. We add more because it feels like progress. We stay busy because it feels productive. And all of us want to have progress and we want to be productive. We really do. But busy can hide the real problem. And the real problem usually is not effort, it's alignment. Are we focused on the right work? Are we talking to the right people? Or are we just adding more to a system that isn't pointed in the right direction? So here's the check. Is what I'm doing actually connected to what matters most? We should ask ourselves that. And if I'm involved, and am I involving the people closest to the work, the ones who actually carry it every single day? Because the move right now isn't to do more, it's not. The move is to get clear, to tighten the work, to align the effort, to make sure what we're doing actually addresses what's needed to be fixed. So before you add anything else to your plate or anyone else's plate, ask yourself Is this actually fixing it? Because doing more isn't fixing it. So if the fire is lit, share the grit.
