Welcome to the Grow with Laura podcast where we talk about building income online as a beginner without confusion, pressure, or pretending to have it all figured out. My name is Laura, and this podcast is for digital beginners who are curious about online business, digital marketing, and using social media as a tool to build something meaningful. If you are learning, exploring, or trying to find your footing in this space, you are in the right place. In the last episode, I shared my experience with Instagram, the mistakes I made, and what I would do differently. Today we are shifting into TikTok and why this platform can feel much faster when it comes to growth and even getting clients. So let's get right into it. Okay. Let's start with this. TikTok is a very different environment than Instagram, obviously. And if you understand that difference, it can work in your favor. TikTok is fast. It is a high volume, high visibility platform, which means your content can reach people quickly, even if you're just starting. You do not need a large following, you do not need a polished page, you do not need everything perfectly set up. What you need is consistency and willingness to show up. And this is what I noticed when I started using TikTok. I leaned, I leaned into it, I posted consistently. I did not even overthink every video. It was usually the overflow from my uh Instagram. No, no gray shade there, but you know, it was like, you know, overflow from me. That's you know, multi-purposing, right? I just focused on showing up, sharing, and being present. And because of that, I started to get traction. Views started coming in, people started exchanging, um, sorry, people started engaging. Um, and most importantly, I started getting clients, right? And that is something I want you to pay attention to because TikTok is not just about views, it is about visibility, and visibility creates opportunity. Now, why does TikTok work this way? Although I realized actually, I have to interject, when I got to a thousand, it just kind of slowed down, but it doesn't mean that you should slow down, continue being consistent, it doesn't matter. I mean, you've got in a thousand, people are still looking, that's fine. So that's I just continue. Doesn't mean I'm just gonna walk away because you know I've it stopped gaining all that traction, right? And eventually will, right now, why does TikTok work this way? Because the platform is designed, you know, it's designed to push content out. It is not just showing your content to your followers, it is constantly testing your content with new people. And even if you are new, you still have a chance to be seen. But here is where I want to ground you. Just because it is fast does not mean you should be careless. You still need direction, you still need to know who you are speaking to, what you're helping them with, and what you are guiding them to. Because views without direction will not convert. You might get attention, but not results. So, yes, TikTok can grow you quickly, but you still need to pair it with intention. So that's what I'm saying. Yeah, I agree, got to a certain point. It just seems like it's slow down, I'm not moving as fast, which is fine. I'm still being consistent. Continue giving with direction, right? So let's move on to something else. Let's talk about content style. TikTok does not require perfection. I know that sounds weird, but you know, it doesn't need everything to be also perfect. In fact, the more natural and real you are, the better. I think Instagram is trying to follow that trend now. But again, I'm no expert. Let's be clear, let's be very, very clear. I am no expert at all in any shape, size, or form. I am no expert. But just based on my own, you know, little observances here and there, right? You do not need fancy edits. Yeah, that's true. TikTok's got its own editing and stuff. You do not need perfect, you know, perfect lightning. You do not need everything to look so polished. You need to be clear though, relatable and consistent. And that is what makes it powerful for beginners because it removes the pressure of needing everything to look perfect before you start. There's nothing wrong with striving for perfection, but I just don't want you to burn yourself out in the process, right? So now let's talk about consistency again. Because just like Instagram, consistency matters here too. But on TikTok, consistency over, you know, like I would say consistency often shows results faster, right? Over Instagram. That's just my own personal observation, right? Because the more you post, the more chances you give your content to be seen. But again, this does not mean burnout. I have to emphasize that. It means finding finding your own rhythm. Okay. Maybe that is, you know, one video a day, maybe it's a few times a week. The key is sustainability. Because what works is not you know what you do once, it is what you continue to do. Now, one more thing I want to highlight is connection. Even though TikTok is fast, connection still matters. When people comment, respond. When people engage, engage back in any platform, in anything, in any sphere of your life. When somebody says hello to you, say hello back. Your parents brought you up well, say hello back, right? Because that is how you turn visibility into relationships. And relationships are what turn into clients. So here is the balance I want you to take from this. TikTok gives you speed, but your structure gives you direction. And when you combine the two, that is when things start to move. In the next episode, we're going to slow things down a bit and talk about podcasting. Woohoo! And why your voice and your message can create a deeper level of connection.
