Can Pinterest help grow your business? Learn how Pinterest works as a visual search engine, why it drives long-term traffic, and how beginners can use it to attract the right audience.
When most people think of Pinterest, they think of recipes, home décor, wedding ideas, or DIY projects. But Pinterest is much more than a place to collect inspiration. It is one of the most powerful visual search engines available, making it an incredible tool for driving long-term traffic to your content and business.
Unlike many social media platforms where your posts disappear within hours or days, Pinterest content has the potential to continue bringing visitors to your website, blog, podcast, YouTube channel, or digital products for months or even years after it is published.
In this episode, we explore how Pinterest works, why it is different from traditional social media, and how beginners can use it strategically without feeling overwhelmed.
You'll discover why Pinterest is less about chasing likes and followers, and more about helping people discover your content when they are actively searching for answers, ideas, and solutions.
Inside this episode, you'll learn:
• What Pinterest is and why it functions as a visual search engine rather than a traditional social media platform
• How Pinterest helps your content get discovered long after you publish it
• Why Pinterest is one of the best platforms for creating evergreen content
• The types of businesses and digital products that perform well on Pinterest
• How Pinterest can support your blog, YouTube channel, podcast, website, or online store
• Why beginners should focus on creating helpful, searchable content instead of chasing viral posts
• How Pinterest fits into a simple digital marketing strategy
• Whether Pinterest is the right platform for your business and goals
If you're looking for a platform that can work for you behind the scenes, continue driving traffic over time, and help new people discover your business every day, Pinterest may be one of the most valuable tools you can add to your marketing strategy.
Remember, building a successful online business isn't about being everywhere. It's about understanding how each platform works and using the ones that best support your goals.

Welcome to the Grow with Laura podcast where we talk about building income online as a beginner without confusion, pressure, or pretending to have it all figured out. My name is Laura, and this podcast is for digital beginners who are curious about online business, digital marketing, and using social media as a tool to build something meaningful. If you are learning, exploring, or trying to find your footing in this space, you are in the right place. In the last episode, we talked about LinkedIn and why it may not be necessary for you right now as a beginner. Today we are going to talk about Pinterest and why it is one of the most misunderstood platforms. This should be interesting. Okay, let's get right into it. Okay, let's start with this. Pinterest is not social media in the way people think. Pinterest is a search engine and that changes everything. When people go on Instagram or TikTok, they are usually scrolling, they are consuming content passively. But when people go on Pinterest, they are searching. They are looking for ideas, they're looking for solutions, they're looking for inspiration. And that means your content works differently. Okay? So full disclosure, I haven't started working on Pinterest, but I'm researching it now because you know it's kind of the next step I want to take, right? So you and I, like I always said, it's either I'm ahead of you or we're on the same page, we're learning, we're growing. It's grow with Laura, so we're growing together. Okay? So Pinterest is one that I haven't really gone into, but I'm really researching it right now. Right? And so, like I was saying, when people go on Pinterest, they're searching, and that means your content works differently. On Instagram or TikTok, your content has a short lifespan. You post, you know, you post it, it gets engagement, and you know, then it kind of fades, right? But on Pinterest, your content lasts. So think about like YouTube, right? On Pinterest, your content lasts. Something you create today can continue bringing traffic weeks, months, if you're lucky, even years later, right? And that is what makes it powerful. Now, let's talk about how this fits into your business. Pinterest is very strong for driving traffic, which means it is not just about people seeing your content, it is about people going somewhere. Your website, your free resource, your products. So instead of just building visibility, you are creating a pathway. Now, here's the part I want you to understand clearly. And me, I had to take time to really understand it myself. Pinterest is not fast. You may not see immediate results, you may not get instant engagement, and if you're expecting quick growth, you might get discouraged. But Pinterest is not about quick wins, it is about long-term consistency. And when you stay consistent, it builds over time, just like with most other platforms and most other things. Consistency, good consistency, right? So instead of thinking, how can I grow quickly? You start thinking, how can I build something that continues to work for me? Now, does that mean you need to start with Pinterest? Not necessarily, right? I mean, you can start if you have the bandwidth, but if not, it's not necessary that you start with Pinterest, right? Just like we have talked about before, you start where you can be consistent. That's the important thing, right? But Pinterest can be a powerful support platform, right? That's one thing I'm learning about it. Um I'm looking at it very seriously because, like I said, it's the next place I want to pivot into, right? Something that works in the background while you focus on your main platform. So here is the takeaway. Pinterest is not about going viral, it is it is about building steady long-term traffic. And when used properly, it can support everything else you are building. In the next episode, we're going to bring all of these platforms together so you can understand how they actually work as a system. Thank you so much for spending this time with me.
