Welcome, welcome, welcome. This is Breakfast with Jesus, episode number 11, Yahshua's Triumphant Cross. Scripture is coming from Colossians chapter 2, verses 14 to 15. Having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that were against us, which were contrary to us, and he has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross, having disarmed principalities and power, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. The New World Translation presents it as and blotting out the handwritten document against us, which consisted of decrees and which was in opposition to us, and he has taken it out of the way by nailing it to the torturous state, stripping the government and authorities bare. He exhibited them in open public as conquered, leading them in a triumphant process, procession by means of it. Brothers and sisters of Christ, I'm Evangelist Linda Benjamin. I am the co-host and creator of this podcast. This is Holy Week, which commemorates the passion, death, and resurrection of our beloved Savior Jesus Christ. It is a time of solemn ritual in some churches and cultures. Previously, I have spoken about his agony in the Garden of Gethsemane and the greatness of his death. Today I want to share the message of God concerning Yahshua's triumphant cross. In understanding the cross, we have to look at the hymn writer's description of the cross in various ways. As the old rugged cross, the emblem of suffering and shame, the wonderful cross on which the Prince of Glory died, and as a cross where I first saw the light and the burden of my heart rolled away. Each description reflects the deep significance and power of the cross in the life of a believer. This today I would like to talk to you about the triumph of the cross, showing victory over the law, victory over sin, victory over death, and victory over the devil. Colossians chapter 2, verse 14 assures us that Yahshua blotted out, erased, removed, and cancelled the bond required for us by nailing it to the cross of Calvary. He invalidated the promissory note of our sin debt by nailing it to the stake. You see, when you have a debt and you owe the bank, you sign a paper, a promissory note to pay the bank back. Our sin debt causes us to have a promissory note to God that the wages of sin is death and it has to be paid. And Jesus came and invalidated that promissory note. The righteous requirement was against our human nature. It led us to the transgression and separation from Yahweh. This exposed us to the penalty and judgment of Yahweh because we could not fulfill that holy requirement. Jesus, praise God, Jesus, wiped out that hostile decree. Romans 4 15 says, if there is no law, there is no transgression. Jesus paying the price of that law, fulfill the law and place us under grace. We are no longer under the law but under grace. For by grace we are saved through faith, not ourselves. It is a gift of God. Yahshua's sacrifice on the cross reconciled us to Yahweh. As God accepted Jesus' sacrificial debt as payment in full. David declared in Psalms 51, verse 9, God hid his face and blot out all our iniquities. At the cross, when the sins of the world was upon God Jesus, God turned his back, he could not look at the sin and blot out our transgression. At that moment, Jesus screamed out, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? But God did not forsake him. God could not look upon the sin that was covering his son. He could not look upon that sin. Jesus, praise God, Jesus, lifted the bar and opened the veil of our relationship with the Heavenly Father. According to Matthew 27, 51, when Jesus died, the veil in the temple was torn in two. It was ripped apart, signifying that the gateway to God is now open and we can access Yahweh through Jesus. Jesus made a pathway to God. He said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. The pulpit commentary explained that Yahweh veiled it himself because sinful people, as seen in Exodus chapter 20, verse 19, asked Moses not to let God speak to them directly. In his mercy, God veiled himself in his law, in his oracles, through the prophets and through angels, in order to communicate with sinful man. Even Adam and Eve hid from God's presence after their sin of disobedience. When people sin, they tend to hide from God. But Scripture tells us that there is no place to hide and there's no way to escape. Jeremiah 25, 35. Yahweh is omnipresent and omniscient. He's everywhere and he knows everything. There's no way to hide. So you may as well just confess your sin, repent, and face God at the mercy seat. Thanks be to Yahshua for the triumphant cross. Because scripture tells us there is now no condemnation to them who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the spirit. Let us look at the triumph of the cross showing the victory over sin. Hebrew 9 26 explains that Jesus will have had to suffer repeatedly from the foundation of the world. But he manifested once. He revealed himself once for all time at the conclusion of the system of things to put sin away through his sacrifice. He came down through time when the time was right to reveal himself and to put away sin. In ancient time, purification from sin requires yearly bloodshed, sacrifice according to the Mosaic law. Sin demands atonement by sacrifice from the beginning of time, as seen through scriptures. And Jesus appeared as a man to fulfill the mission of vanquishing sin, of getting sin out of the way. Through his victory on the cross, believers are empowered over the presence of sin. Now we are called to present our body as living sacrifice holy and acceptable to God. That is just our reasonable service for the mercy, the gift of God. This transformation requires a change in the way we think and behave. Putting away childish, piteful, and vengeful things and focusing on what is true, what is honest, what is just, what is pure, what is lovely, and of good report. The effectiveness of Jesus' atonement covers past, present, and future sin. Ah, what a blessing. His propitiation for the world, the whole world was once and for all. It never need to be repeated again, says 1 John chapter 2, verse 2 and Romans chapter 3, verse 25. It is done once and for all. Jesus abolished sin and reconciled the world to Yahweh, paying the penalty for sin. The wages of sin were paid by Yahshua on the cross for every single one of us. Therefore, we are encouraged to walk and talk in honor of the freedom we have been given. He has released the bondage, the chains that were keeping us. This is God's loving grace to us. Let us embrace it and not reject such a marvelous gift of unmerited favors. The cross, the triumph of the cross over death. Hebrew chapter 2, verse 15, 16 to 16 states that Jesus emancipated those, emancipated free us, freedom, those who fear of death, were subjected to lifetime slavery. When you are in sin, you are afraid to die. And being afraid to die is like slavery, like chains on you. He did not assist angels. Jesus did not come assist to assist angels, but he came to assist Abraham's seed, the lowly human being. Jesus, who pre-existed with God, he is God in Himself, took on the form of Abraham to restore hope and salvation to this lost world. Death binds us like chains and separate us, separate the people of God from God. It produces, it causes spiritual death. Yet Yahshua abolished the fear of death and it no longer holds power over believers, replacing it with the hope of eternal life. So our fear of death is now being replaced with hope of eternal life. We now know that when we die, that's not the end of it. We have another life, an everlasting life with Jesus. 2 Timothy chapter 1, verse 10 declares, He abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. Isaiah chapter 25, verse 8 guarantees us that Jesus will swallow up death forever, ensuring our eternal victory and echoing this triumph in 1 Corinthians 15, verse 15, that asks, Where O death is your victory? Where O death is thy sting? These scriptures confirm that the sting and victory of death have been removed by Christ's sacrifice, giving hope and assurance to all who trust in him. Triumph of the cross over the devil. For the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The Son of God was revealed to break up the work of the devil. Sin is a transgression of the divine law and a rejection of God's authority. And therefore, anyone who breaks the law is considered a spawn of Satan. An unrepentitant sinner is a child of Satan, the liar and the deceiver from the beginning. Jesus presents validation. Jesus present validated divine law because he said that he did not come to destroy the law, but to fulfill the law. And that is what he did. A repetitive sinner is transformed and justified by Jesus and will be unable to abide in sin. They are reborn and the sin has become contrary to their new nature. Their heart detests sin and their mind will abhor sin. The power of sin has no lasting effect upon them. They can tell the devil to depart from me and the devil will flee. Brethren, choose this day not to perish in sin or be inspired by Satan antics. Choose Jesus an eternal life. Reflection. Consider the cross, its victory, and your choices today. Discipleship. He laid on his life for you and on that old rugged cross. He loves you regardless of your circumstances. Let's pray. O Heavenly Father, we thank you for your son's sacrificial love. We thank you for his death on Calvary Cross that gave us salvation. We thank you for his cleansing blood that flowed from Caly. And we pray that his cleansing blood will cover us, purifies our hearts and our souls and our mind. We pray, O merciful Father, that we'll be able to walk in the light, for Jesus is the light of the world. We accept Jesus as our Savior and our Lord. O merciful Father, and let your Holy Spirit be with us during this holy week, blessed Lord. Keeping us ever close to that everlasting cross, blessed Lord. Let us hold on to the cross of Jesus Christ. O Merciful Father, and now may the grace of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit rest and abide with us now and forevermore.
