Welcome, welcome, welcome to Breakfast with Jesus. Episode number thirteen till he comes. Scripture focus first Samuel chapter sixteen verse eleven. And Samuel said to Jesse, Are all the young men here? Then he said, There remains yet the youngest, and there he is keeping the sheep. And Samuel said to Jesse, Send and bring him, for we will not sit down till he comes here. As we recently observed the resurrection of Jesus Christ, we are reminded by Scripture that his return is promised. This anticipation prompts us to consider an important question. How are we living our lives as we await his second coming? Saul, Israel's first king, was rejected by Yahweh due to his repeated disobedience and inability to follow divine instructions. In response, Yahweh chose a new king and sent the prophet Samuel to Jesse's household. When Samuel requested to see Jesse's son, one was missing. He was out in the field tending to the sheep. Samuel insisted that they will not sit down until this young son, the little shepherd, was brought in from the field. Keeper of the sheep and our waiting. Today's message centers on the keeper of the sheep, the coming king, and the question of what we ought to do as we wait his arrival. What are you doing while you wait on Jesus' return? In 1 Samuel chapter 16, Jesus mentioned his youngest son was who was out in the field as a shepherd in training, a keeper of the sheep. This led us to reflect on the identity and role of our own shepherd, our own keeper. Scripture declares that the Lord is our shepherd, assuring us that we lack nothing. Because the Lord is our shepherd, we shall not warn. Psalm 23.1. In the Gospel of John, chapter 10, Jesus is described as a good shepherd who gave his life for his sheep. He knows his flock, and his flock knows him. Jesus proclaimed, I am the door of the sheep, meaning he is entrance to the sheepfold, serving as both protector and guide. Those who hear his voice and follow him are kept safe. And if one is lost, he leaves the ninety-nine to seek out the lost one. This demonstrates his commitment to pursuing anyone who stays strays from the fellowship of believers. He will leave the 99 in the safety of the foal and go after that lost sheep. Ezekiel referred to us as the sheep of his pasture. And Jesus promised the Father that he will not lose a single soul entrusted to him. Zachariah speaks of God's protective wall of fire, signifying that the sheep fall is fortified and secured. Our salvation and eternal life are assured by Jesus. Yeshua guarantees that we cannot be snatched away from him. Despite our tendency to wander and backslide, we are wanderers and backsliders. We tend to go our own way. We are disobedient children of God. But he encouraged us to remain within the safety of the fold. In the Lord's pasture, our body, soul, and spirit are nourished. It provides rest for the weary and comfort for those who are sorrowful. It didn't provide healing for those who are sick. Jesus is the door that keeps out the thief, reminding us that the devil seeks to destroy, to steal and destroy. The devil comes to steal and destroy. He comes to steal our life, to steal our soul. Jesus is also the open door for communication between Yahweh and us. He communicated, we are able to go to Yahweh through Jesus, and God is able to talk to us through Jesus. We are the gateway to our eternal home in heaven. Entering this door requires faith, as Jesus is both the shepherd and the bishop of our soul. The coming king. Let us now look at the coming king. Samuel chapter 16 verse 16 verse 11B said that Samuel told the household that they will not sit until the young shepherd came in. Samuel 16 verse 11B. This young shepherd, David, represent Jesus coming as the everlasting king, because David will be anointed as the next king of Israel. Isaiah 25 verses 8 tells us he will swallow up death forever. Jesus will swallow up death forever. And the Lord God will wipe away our tears. Chapter 32 of Isaiah tells us, Behold, a king will reign in righteousness and with justice. Jesus is the righteous king who will reign in righteousness and in justice. And he will come, he will also come, and his reward are with him to pay every man according to his work shall be. Chapter 40 of Isaiah. So he is coming again as king with reward to reign, to reign and to judge. Tells us that he's coming again to judge the earth and the people. Samuel advised them to wait to be seated till David come into the house. Wait until he comes. We are asked to wait for the coming of the Lord and King. The gospel reminds us to watch and wait. The psalmist inform us to wait on the Lord. Proverbs encourage us to watch daily at the gates. Isaiah advises us that those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagle. They will run and not weary, they will walk and not faint. You say when we wait on the Lord, we our strength are renewed, we are revived, we are encouraged, we are fortified. But we have to do it in faith and in patience, with endurance, with perseverance. Therefore, children of Yahweh, in our waiting, we must be waiting with vigilance, being alert and not slothful. We have to watch, be watchful in all things, enduring affliction, and not to turn away from the truth of the gospel of fables to fables and lies. We must watch and stand firm against those who come with spiritual heresies, heretics that deny the doctrine of Jesus Christ, that denies the nature of the Trinity, that deny the gospel of Jesus Christ. We must watch and pray that we do not fall victim to those who changes the ordinances of God to suit their own belief. We are the ones to change. We must change the way we talk, the way we walk, the way we see things, the way we talk, the way we treat people. We cannot change the ordinances of God to suit our sinful self. The ordinance of God cannot be changed. We, the sinful people, have to change and stop trying to change the ordinances of God. We must wait patiently and be spiritually allowed to avoid temptation. We must wait patiently and steadfastly, lest he comes quickly and find us asleep with lamps on trimmed and with oil, without oil in our lamps, as a five foolish virgin. We must wait patient prayerfully and spiritually. Reflection. Reflect on what you must do while you wait for the return of the Messiah, our king. What are you doing? Are you waiting patiently? Are you waiting faithfully? Are you waiting steadfastly? Are you waiting prayerfully? Do not be caught unawares, brethren. Watch and pray. Watch and pray. Disciples. Come to Jesus. Come to Jesus now. When you hear the word of God, open up your heart to the word of God. Let your heart be a foot as soil. Let it take root. Surrender your life to Jesus. Confess your sin to Jesus. Repent for your sin. And accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and come under grace. Come under grace, children. Come under grace and accept Jesus as your Savior. And if you accept Jesus as your Savior, find a church close to you that worship the true and the living God, that accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior, that believe Jesus is the Son of God, and join the church and have fellowship. Prayer. Almighty and everlasting God, we thank you for your unmerited favors and grace. Fill us with your Holy Spirit to guide us and preserve us until you return. And may the grace of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit rest and abide with us now and forevermore. See you next week. Continue to worship God and pray daily. Pray without ceasing. In Jesus' almighty name I pray. Amen.
