Welcome, welcome, welcome to Breakfast Week Jesus Podcast, episode number 14, the tree and its fruit. Coming from scripture, Luke chapter 6, verse 41 to 45. The focus of this chapter is verse 43. For a good tree does not be a bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. In chapter 6 of the Gospel of Luke, Jesus warns his disciples about the consequences of having a spiritual distorted vision and highlights the necessity of fruitfulness in one's life. Jesus illustrates the existence of two distinct types of trees and their respective fruits. The good tree, which yields good fruit, and the bad tree, which fails to produce good fruit. He likens the bad tree to thorns and brambles, bush, and characters, floor. The central message of this episode focuses on the two classes of character and the two classes of fruit that arise from them. The two classes of character, verses 42 to 43, the good tree and the bad tree. Jesus employs the image of the tree as a metaphor to illustrate human character. The good tree is symbolic of a person whose character aligns with goodness, reflecting the grace and purpose for which they have been created. This individual demonstrates the quality of God's image, embodying virtues and spiritual maturity. The good tree are people with good character, whose reaction to problems will pressure worse pressure reveals their true character of resilience, self-control, and praiseworthiness. The nature of the bad tree and its fruit. The bad tree, also described as the corrupt tree or the evil person, is viewed by Yahweh as possessing a fundamental character straw. This person is likened to a rotten or bitter tree, or even to a thorn or bramble bush. Although a rotten tree may appear beautiful outwardly, it conceals a spiritual disease, heart, beneath the surface. Such individuals display corrupt power and unrestrained speech. They may possess learning and a fashionable appearance, yet their inner core is spoiled. Because of appearances can be deceiving, scripture urges believers to exercise spiritual discernment, to try every spirit, as stated in 1 John chapter 4, verses 1. Classes of fruit, verses 44 to 45. Verses 44 to 45 explain that a good person draws from the good treasures within their heart, bringing forth good fruit. Conversely, an evil person drawing from the evil treasures of their heart brings forth evil fruit. Scripture teaches that out of the abundance of his heart, his mouth speaks. Out of the abundance of our heart, our mouth speaks. In other words, the fruit we produce, whether in words or action, reveals the true condition of our heart. Whether our hearts are pure, gentle, compassionate, or extremely evil and deceptive is demonstrated by our fruit. Words filled with anger will tear others down instead of building them up and originate from a corrupt heart. Bearing fruit wordily, scripture emphasizes the importance of bearing fruit that is consistent with genuine repentance. As stated in Luke chapter 3, verses 8a, believers are called to produce fruit that reflects a changed heart and true commitment to God. This fruit is not simply external behavior, it arises from a transformation within, making the evidence of marking the evidence of repentance. Galatians 5.22 describes the fruit of the Spirit as qualities such as love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. These traits demonstrate the presence of the Holy Spirit in a person's life and are indicative of a heart that has been cleansed and renewed. A person who possesses these characteristics is recognized as a good tree, producing good fruit for the benefit of others. James chapter 3, verses 17 teaches that the sap, the inner life force of a good tree, is a wisdom from above. This wisdom is marked by purity, peacefulness, gentleness, mercy, and good fruit. Individuals with godly wisdom act in ways that uplift and encourage others, approaching them with mercy and gentleness rather than shame or condemnation. Their actions and words flow from a heart that is aligned with God's purposes. A person who consistently produces good fruit is one whose heart has been regenerated. Through the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit, they engage in activities that reflect the transformative power of God's grace. The Bible affirms that God establishes a new covenant with the regenerated heart. This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel. I will put my law in their minds and write it upon their hearts. And I shall be their God and they shall be my people. Born-again Christians, through the passion and resurrection of God's Son, Jesus Christ, enter into this new covenant. The law of God becomes engraved in their minds and hearts, guiding them to do God's will and to love one another. The food produced in their lives serves as evidence of this internal transformation, revealing the presence of God within them. Scripture also tells us in Psalms that a good fruit bears bearer, speak wisdom, and speak with justice. Proverbs say that their tongue promotes health. The good tree, with its good fruit, means that your attitude, character, and conduct reflect what is in your heart. It means that your heart is right with Yahweh. Your heart is washed, cleansed from secret thoughts, purged from evil consciences and dead works, and it's fit and it's fit to correct and lead others. It means that Yahweh is reigning in your heart and producing good works and holy conversation. Bad classes of fruit, evil treasures of the heart. The bad class of fruit or the evil treasures of the heart originate from a rotten tree that produces bad fruit. This fruit is likened to thorny branches and rumble bush shrubs, reflecting the corrupt nature from which it comes. The evil treasures within the hearts are the source of their corrupt fruit, emphasizing that a rotten tree inevitably brings forth bad fruit. According to the Gospel of Matthew, it is what comes from the mouth that defiles a man. Proverbs describes a perverse heart. While Mark in chapter 7, verse 23 to 30 21 to 23 explains this further. He says, Out of the heart of man proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornication, murder, theft, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness, and all these things defy the man. A corrupt fruit signifies a corrupt character, which exposes the true condition of a person's heart. Scripture teaches that out of the heart are the issues of life, meaning that evil is not only seen by the eye and spoken by the mouth, but it is rooted in the core of the person. As a man thinks in his heart, so is he. This connection highlights that the fruit produced by an individual reflects their inner state. A corrupt fruit also manifests as a distorted vision of self. Such individuals see themselves as superior to others, are judgmental, and overlook the valuable virtues in those around them. They are the ones that have the beam in their eyes, trying to take out the speck in their fellow men's eyes. They are inconsiderate and quick to condemn others, and their speech is marked by ungodliness and profanity. Their words lack grace, further demonstrating the corrupt nature of their heart and the fruit they produce. In conclusion, knowing the tree by its fruit. A tree is recognized by the fruit it produces. And as the scripture says, for by their fruit we shall know them. By your fruit the world will know you. By your fruit, other Christians know you. A good tree consistently demonstrates Christian principles. Through its actions and character, such a tree is marred by a loving spirit, genuine care for the truth found in Yahweh's word, and a commitment to advance in his kingdom. These qualities serve as clear evidence of a heart that has been transformed and is actively aligned with God's purpose. Reflection. Take a moment to consider what kind of a tree you are and whether you are bearing fruit that honors God. Are you a good tree or are you a bad tree? Are you producing fruits, good fruits, or are you but producing bad fruits? Reflect on the nature of the fruit you produce. Does your speech and conduct reveal a heart rooted in godly values? Are you living in a way that is spiritual and godly? Or are your actions more aligned with worldly and carnal pursuit? Let your reflection guide you towards a deeper understanding of your character and the impact you have on those around you. Discipleship. When you hear the word of God, you need to accept the word of God. Let it take root in your heart. Let it renew your mind. Let it transform you. So that you can accept Jesus as your Savior and your Lord. And come under grace. Accept Jesus today. Accept Him. Believe in Him. That He is a Son of God that came and died and carved on the cross. That you may have eternal life. That you will be now under grace and not under Lord. Accept your Lord and Savior. Let us pray. Heavenly Father, we thank you for your life and for our life and our health. And pray that you will cover us under your the shadows of your wing. Hide us in the cliff of a rock and surround us with the ball of fire that will be protected from the storms of life. That will that will keep us from being uprooted. Help us to be good tree. Let us be a God producing tree with good fruits, worthy of repentance. We ask all this in no other name but in Jesus' almighty name. And may the grace of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit rest and abide with us now and forevermore. Amen.
