Welcome, welcome, welcome to breakfast with Jesus. Title of Devotion is Praise the Lord. Foundational scripture comes from Psalms chapter 147, verses 1 through 6, which says, Praise the Lord, for it is good to sing praises to our God, for it is pleasant, and praise is beautiful. The Lord built up Jerusalem, he gathers together the outcast of Israel. He healed the brokenhearted and built up their wounds. He counted the numbers of stars, he called them all by name. Great is our Lord and mighty in power. His understanding is infinite. The Lord lift up the humble, he cast the wicked down to the ground. O merciful and gracious God, speak to me and speak through me. Let me diminish so that you will be excelled. Let them see you and hear you and not me. In Jesus' almighty name, amen. Beloved brethren, the Almighty God is worthy of our praise simply because of who he is. The word declares, Let everything that has bread praise the Lord, and calls us to enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise. So let us lift our voices, sing unto the Lord, and rejoice in the rock of our salvation. We praise him for his mighty works, for the victory he has given us over death, for his unfailing love and abundant grace, and for the transforming power of his spirit at work within our lives. Therefore, let us look at a few reasons why we must praise God according to Psalms chapter 147, verses 1 through 6. We must praise the Lord. Verses 1 state why we praise Yahweh. It teaches us that we praise Him because of who He is. As His children and heir of salvation, praise is not only our privilege but also our responsibility. Worship is a fitting response of a heart that knows God's goodness and grace. If we do not praise Yahweh, the stone will cry out for us. Do you want the stone to cry out for you? I definitely do not want any stone crying out for me. That truth calls us to lift our voices willingly and joyfully before the Lord. Why? Because praise is good because it fills our heart with joy. When we praise the Lord, we become joyful. We are happy. Praise is pleasant and beautiful because it is a fitting expression of gratitude and adoration to Yahweh. Praise honors God while lifting and strengthening our spirit. Praise also encourages others to glorify God. Because when we start praising God, other people seeing us praise God, they start praising God also. Psalm 33, verses 1 tells us so. When we praise God, we give him the honor he deserves and become a witness that invites others to do the very same. Verses 2 and 3 tells us we need to praise him for salvation and restoration. Yes. Psalm 2, verses 2 and 3 gives us strong reasons to praise the Lord. Why? Because he guarded the outcast, he built up his people, he heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. What he did for Jerusalem and Israel, he will do for us. He is the same God yesterday, today, and forever. He is still able to do for us today because he is the unchanging God. Yahweh is both a builder and a gardener. He brought Jerusalem out of exile and he gathered Israel when they had become outcast. In the same way, he is able to restore you and I, and all those who feel forgotten, who feel outcast, who feel spiritually wary, who feel that they are far away from him, who feel helpless, and who feel afflicted. He can do the same for you as he did for Jerusalem and Israel in the day of old. These verses also remind us of the tender compassion of Jesus Christ, who understands human suffering and sorrow. Because he was despised and rejected, wounded for our transgression, and he was bruised for our iniquity, and by his stripes we are healed. He's able to minister healing and peace and restoration because of his wounded heart. Yes, our Savior was heartbroken. So he knows how those who are heartbroken, how they feel. He restored those who feel like outcasts and draw them back into his care as he did for Jerusalem and Israel. He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wound. Are you wounded with grief? Are you wounded with shame? Are you wounded with guilt and or lost? He will bind up your broken heart. He recognizes us, he reconciles us to himself. He lifts us out of the murry pit of sin and plant our feet on the rock, which is Jesus Christ. Yes. He can take us out of that murry pit. His outstretched arm still saves us. Yes, they say when they when they crucify him, they stretch him wide, and his hands is outstretched, his stretch hands are stretched to save us, and his ears is still open to our cry, the cry of his people. Before we even speak, because he's omnipotent, he's all powerful, he's all-knowing. Before we say a word, he knows our thoughts, he knows what we are about to say, and he answers before we even say it. What a mighty God! For all these reasons, he is worthy of our praise. He is the God who restores, the Savior who empathizes, and the Lord who still heals and delivers. What a mighty God. Verses 4 and 5 calls us to praise Yahweh for his wisdom and power. The psalmist urge us to praise Yahweh for his omnipotence and his omniscience. His all-powerful and all-knowing. He's wise, the wise God, he's full of wisdom. This verse reminds us that he knows the numbers of stars and calls each of one by name. Right? Science tells us that they are over, they are over, in estimation, over 206 trillion stars. Yes, that amount of stars. You can't even number them. But God knows the name of everything, he names them and he knows the name of every single star. What a mighty God! And if God knows the name of every single star, he certainly knows us just as well. Because scripture tells us he numbers every hair of strand of hair on our head. If he takes the time to number the strand of hair on our head, that is to tell you how he wants to have a personal relationship with us. That's to tell you how much he cares for us. He loves us and he cares for us. We are precious in the sight of Yahweh. We are like the sheep in his pasture, and he knows us by name. He hears us before we even call, and he answers us while we are still speaking. He provides for our needs according to his riches in glory. What a wonderful God! What a provider. One who loves us so deeply, he loves us so deeply that he gave his only begotten son to die that we may have eternal life. We need to praise him. He deserves our praise. Yahweh is all powerful. By his wisdom, he laid the foundation of the earth and set the heavens in place. He created the universe and still sustain it by his divine power. He knows each of us personally and he cares for us individually. Truly, his name is worthy to be praised. He is the master putter who can put our broken pieces back together again. As a broken vessel, he can take our broken vessel, and with his nice mastery hand of pottery, he can put us back together and create a masterpiece that was even better than what it was before. What a mighty God we have. Verse 6 tells us we need to praise him for his providential care. It reminds us, verse 6, to uphold that Yahweh uphold the humble and bring justice to the wicked. For scripture said, Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit youth. Yes, he lifts the lowly, he strengthened the wary, and he cares for those who trust in him. Because he is just and faithful. We can rest in his power to defend us. We can be sure that he will defend us, he will deliver us and he will sustain us. What a mighty God. For this reason, for this reason, we praise and honor him from the rising of the sun to its setting. He has taken us from brokenness and restored us by his grace. He surrounds us with his love and protection, provides for us as he provides for the sparrow, and he set us free from the bondage of sin. In every season, every season that we go through, he remains our strength in weakness, our light in the darkness, and our comfort in the storm. No matter what storm we are going through, he is our comfort. He lifts the humble and cares for the lowly. He delivers his people and guard them with his protection. He restores what is broken and free us from sin. He is worthy of our praise. He's worthy of our honor. He's worthy of our obedience. He's worthy of our love. Let everything that has bread praise the Lord, because he is our protector, and no weapon formed against us can prosper. Because he has made our enemies our footstool. He has delivered us. He has uplifted us. He has encircled us. He has put a hedge around us. Brothers and sisters in Christ, we need to praise him with an everlasting praise. We have to sing praises to him when we open our eyes on morning. The first thing we should say is to praise him for waking us up. Praise him that we can see. Praise him that we can walk. Praise him that we can talk. Praise him that we are still on this side of the earth. Reflection. Let us reflect on how we praise the Lord. Do we praise him out of obligation? There's nothing wrong in praising him out of obligation. But are you praising him out of a heart filled with love or gratitude? That is even better. Which one are you praising him? Are you praising him out of only obligation? Like a duty. Or are you praising him because you love him? And you are so thankful for what he has done for you. With joy in your heart, with a loving spirit. Reflect on how your praise is to Yahweh. Reflect on that today, my brothers and sisters. Let's pray. Heavenly Father, you have turned our morning into dancing and clothe us with gladness. Teach us to praise you with joy and thanksgiving in our heart. Help us to remain grateful for your tender mercy and unmerited favors. May you guide and protect us for the rest of this week. May your light shine upon us. And may the grace of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit rest and abide with us now and forevermore. Amen. Amen. Thank you for listening. I'm looking forward to see hear you next week.
