Welcome, welcome, welcome to Breakfast with Jesus. This is your host, Evangelist Linda, Teresa Benjamin. The topic is Are you rooted? The scripture focus is Colossians chapter 2, verses 6 through 7. And it reads, As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in His faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. O gracious Yahweh, I praise and glorify your name. Speak to me and through me as your word goes out, let it accomplish its purpose. For you promise your word will not come back to you void. In Colossians chapter 2, the Apostle Paul encourages the believers in Colossians to keep standing strong in the faith. He knows false teaching is surrounding them. So he points them back to the foundation Jesus Christ. Paul is saying, You receive him by faith. Now keep walking in him by faith. Stay rooted, stay built up, stay established. And our response to Paul is listen to this. Paul is calling us. He's calling us to examine where our roots are planted. If we are rooted in Christ, we can stand. If we are grounded in his love, we can endure. So today, this word rooted brings us to two important questions. Why is it necessary to be rooted? And how can we become firmly rooted in Christ? How can we become firmly rooted in Christ? The necessity of being rooted, beloved, we have to think of a tree. A tree cannot live by what we see above the ground. Its strength is hidden beneath the surface. Its root give life, stability, nourishment, and store energy. The root holds the tree in the soil. It draws in water and nutrients and helps it survive changing season. In the same way, we must be rooted in our spiritual source, Jesus Christ, the root of David and the stump of Jesse, the one who fulfilled God's covenant of kind kingship for us. Why must we be rooted? I told you about the tree. Why must we be rooted? Because the roots sustain life. Without root, a plant withers and dies. Romans chapter 11, verses 17 to 18 reminds us that we have been grafted into the good olive tree, and Matthew chapter 13, verses 6 warns us that those without deep roots cannot endure the heat of the storm of life. We cannot survive. Our life, our strength, and our growth comes from Yahshua, Jesus, the living water. Second, we must be rooted because roots produce fruitfulness. Fruit is the visible evidence that life is flowing through the tree. Romans chapter 11, verse 16 teaches that if the root is holy, the branches are also holy. Jesus is the vine, he said, and we are the branches. When we stay connected to him, the vine, our lives begin to bear fruit that reflects his life within us. Third, the root gives stability and firmness. It keeps the tree from being uprooted when storm comes and says, Brothers and sisters in Christ, storm will come, winds will blow, trial will rise. But a rooted Christian is not easily tossed by false doctrine, fear, or confusion. Romans chapter 8, 39, verse 39 assures us that nothing, nothing can separate us from the love of God. Romans 6 chapter 5, chapter, Romans chapter 6, verse 5 reminds us that we are united with Christ in his death and his resurrection. When we are rooted in some doctrines, we can flourish, we can withstand, we can stay firm according to Psalm 92, verses 13. So hear the word of the Lord. Hear the word of the Lord, brothers and sisters. We must be rooted and grounded. So we are not tossed by every wind of life or false doctrine. As warned by Ephesians chapter 4, verse 14. And Max Anders describe unrooted believers as tumbleweeds, easily moved because they are not anchored. But I know you are not tumbleweeds. Rooted in Christ Jesus, rooted in Yahshua, our rock and our foundation. When our roots are anchored in Yahshua, we can stand firm. How to be firmly rooted in Christ. How can we be firmly rooted in Christ? Now, how we do how do we become firmly rooted in Christ? According to verse 6 in 2 Colossians, gives us that answer. We must walk in him. We must walk in him. We do not just receive Christ and stand still. We walk with him day by day. Christ is our source, our nutriment, our nourishment, and our pattern. We become rooted when we are planted in him and continue to abide in him. 1 John chapter 5, verses 11 reminds us that Yahweh has given us eternal life, and that life is in his son. He that has the son has life. Whosoever does not have the son does not have life. Through Christ we receive eternal life, and by faith we are rooted in him. Second, we become rooted as we receive the dew of grace. Acts chapter 20, verse 32 reminds us that the grace of Yahweh builds us up and gives us an inheritance. Grace is a foundation of our hope and a fountain of our joy. Look at Hosea chapter 14, verse 5, which says, I will be like the dew to Israel. He will blossom like the lily and take root like the cedars of Lebanon. Which means grace does not leave us dry. Grace refreshes us. Grace nourishes us. Grace helps us to flourish. Rooted like the cedars of Lebanon and sustained by Yahweh Himself. Grace is not gonna leave you dry and withered. Grace is your source of sustenance, your moisture, your water. Tilled, we must be filled with the fire of the Holy Spirit. Galatians chapter 5, verse 16 advises us that when we walk in the Spirit, we will not fulfill the desire of the flesh. The Holy Spirit renews us, sanctifies us, and turns our heart towards the things above. Jude chapter 1, verses 20 encourages us to build ourselves up in our most holy faith by praying in the Holy Spirit. We have to do this with prayer. Praying in the Holy Spirit. Church, we cannot be deeply rooted without the spirit power working within us. And how do we have that spirit power working within us? By praying. By praying and letting the Holy Spirit take control of us, live within us, renewing us and sanctifying us. That's what the Holy Spirit does to us. Lastly, we must be rooted by walking in faith in Christ. Our faith must be unshakable, unbreakable, and steadfast. Ephesians chapter 3, verses 17 and 19, 17 through 19 declares that Christ dwells in our hearts through faith, and that being rooted and grounded in love, we may comprehend the breadth, the length, the depth, and height of his love. Saints, brothers and sisters in Christ, his love reaches low enough to lift us up and rises high enough to keep us up. His love is wide enough to cover us and strong enough to hold us. This rich, unstoppable love, this agape love can never be broken. For we love him because he first loved us. That he gave his life for us. That is how much love us. In conclusion, let us remember this. To be rooted and built up, we must keep walking with Yahshua. In him we find nourishment, in him we find strength, in him we find stability. In him we receive the promise of eternal life. We are rooted and built up so that we may walk in gratitude, live with thanksgiving, imitate Christ, love as he loved us, and show compassion and patience as he did to us. Let us be watered by the dew of his grace, strengthened by the fire of the Holy Spirit, and preserved by the faith that keeps growing. Reflection. I ask you today to reflect on where are your roots. Are you growing in your daily walk with Christ? Are you abundant in gratitude towards him? Reflect. Self-reflect today. Invitation to discipleship. If you hear the gospel of Jesus today, open your heart and receive him. He desires to come in and have fellowship with you. He loves you and he died for your sins and my sin. We may have eternal that we may have eternal life. Surrender your life to him today. Accept him as your Savior. Repent and be baptized in obedience to his word. Closing prayer. Heavenly Father, eternal Yahweh, you have called us to be rooted and grounded in love, faith, godliness, and thanksgiving. I thank you for your mercy, your agape love, and your word, which is a lamp unto my feet, unto our feet, and a light unto our part. As we meditate on your word, let your word take roots in our heart and anchor us on the rock of our salvation for all eternity. Let your word bring healing to the broken, strength to the downtrodden, comfort to the lonely, and peace to the encouragement discouraged. In Yahshua's name.
