Jagger sits down with the lead singer of a Florida bar band, Never Ending.
You'll hear all about the band and listen to 2 of their original songs!
Welcome back to the Panhandle Party. I'm Jagger with Jojo on the go. I'm so excited today to be sitting here with Shelly Klutz. Today, she is the lead singer for Never Ending. It's a local band here in the Panhandle, Florida. We're so excited. I've listened to some of their music and they are jamming. And if you get the chance to see them local, I want you to try to do that. Sh uh Shelly, how are you?
SPEAKER_05I'm great, great. How are you?
SPEAKER_00I'm doing wonderful. I I want to know just right off the bat, let's get into your orange uh origin story. Uh as far as when did you start singing? How did that come about? Uh you know, were you a young child? How to start?
SPEAKER_05Oh man, I've got a story for you, and I will try to make it as short and sweet as possible. But so this is actually the first band that I've ever been in. Um the only band I've ever been in in my life. I've never sang had a band. I've always grown up around music. Um I'm from Southern Southern Illinois. And my brother, he's a musician here in Illinois. And um just growing up around watching him with his bands, and my dad took us to Nashville to see all kinds of people. Um, I think that's what really grew my love for music. So um how I got to Florida and got started was I actually had uh to leave kind of a pretty crazy domestic violence situation here back in southern Illinois, and I decided I was gonna go to Florida just to camp. And I planned just to be there for a couple weeks, and I ended up camping for four months. So after camping for four months, I had to make a decision on whether, okay, I'm gonna stay or I'm gonna go. So I decided I was gonna stay. And um through that just door dashed my butt off and um was able to get my first apartment. And it was there that I met um my friend who uh finally talked me into going to some open mic nights over in Gulf Breeze, actually. Um the country gym is where I started. So long longer story, she's trying to shorten it up here, but um open mic night. I was there one night jamming out with some friends, and after I got done singing, I had a a woman approach me and say she was from Nashville, and she's like, What's the name of your band? Like, I don't have a band, what are you talking about? So that kind of um lit a fire underneath, and um I was like, Well, you know, maybe maybe I have something.
SPEAKER_00So that's what um Wait a second, you're saying that you never knew you had talent until you went to an a karaoke or an open mic or something like that.
SPEAKER_05Well, I've always loved to sing, so but I never really would sing in front of anybody. Like my escape would be to go and park in a field because we didn't how there's nothing in Illinois to do, you know. So I would go park at a field and put my headphones in and sing on an app and just sing for hours. So but I never thought that I would be I would have a band and be where I am today for sure.
SPEAKER_00So And so uh as a kid, did you do any sort of chorus or choir in school?
SPEAKER_05Is it never in front of anybody or just Okay, well when you say that I did do chorus in school and like elementary and into junior high, maybe high school, but um and just karaoked uh, you know, just bars, just around town, just small little bars. My brother's band, I would always go watch him play, and the wives of the band members would always be there and they'd be like, Oh, you can sing, you can sing. Greg that was my brother, but Greg, let her get up there and sing. I'm like, no, no, no. Well he did one time, and now looking back at that moment, oh man. It was uh it was a great moment to have that with my brother, but I've come a very long way since then.
SPEAKER_00Well, one thing I've noticed about you checking out your music both on YouTube, on Facebook, uh Neverending. You can look them up both there. But you definitely have your own sense of style. Is this something new as a as a front woman of a band, or do have you always kind of had that sense of style?
SPEAKER_05Um well, my sense of style in fashion's always been crazy, but we're talking about music here. Um fashion and hairstyle and piercing, the whole thing, the whole line. Yeah, I'm a little bit I'm a little bit wild. But um I I I feel like um it's kind of just really evolved with the people that I've surrounded myself with, and it just kind of we just created this sound, and people ask me always like, what kind of music do you play or what genre are you? And I'm like, we're kind of like our own genre, you know? Like I always tell people if you have to compare it to anything, and I'm not saying that I'm up there with these guys by any means, but um, I would say that our music is comparable to I say a we're like a bluesy grateful dead almond brother kind of vibe. So that's what our originals are here to do. And even when we do covers, we make it our own. Like they don't sound like the covers.
SPEAKER_00So Gotcha. And you guys play a lot here uh near Navarre, Golf Breeze, Pensacola, Destin. Uh is that really the concentration of where you're playing live right now?
SPEAKER_05Oh man, we would I we just want to play anywhere. Like I love playing my boyfriend, he's actually my lead guitar player. Um he and I'm gonna be situation. Yeah. That's funny, I hear that a lot. And he actually he looks like Bob Dylan.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_05But yeah, so that's been a really great um adventure, you know. Um being able to find your love and music and then also have that in your partner has been really special.
SPEAKER_00So what came first? The the professional relationship or the personal relationship?
SPEAKER_05Uh the professional, actually.
SPEAKER_00So you guys started playing together. Started vibing, okay, let's see where things go.
SPEAKER_03And now we are.
SPEAKER_00Look at you getting all shy now that we're talking about the personal stuff. You're blushing.
SPEAKER_05I don't know why.
SPEAKER_00He's gonna say this and he's gonna be like, oh you might get some brownie points for that. He's just excited you're out there trying to get the word out. So I understand you guys are looking for more places to play. If there's anybody who who owns a bar, restaurant, um, and there's plenty of them here in the Florida panhandle, uh, you guys are taking bookings, is that right?
SPEAKER_05That is a hundred percent right, yes. And we um we play at three places um regularly every month now. Um, and I'll tell you those places here in a little bit, but it's been really hard as a woman at uh the front of the band, you know, trying to book and not knowing anybody in the Florida bandhandle. Um I've been very, very blessed and lucky for the connections. But the biggest thing is it's really up to the listeners and the followers. I mean, it it's i we have to have, you know, that connection with the audience, and we want to make sure that you guys are letting those those people know when you are enjoying us. Make sure you go tell the manager so they'll get us back, you know. So those are always important.
SPEAKER_00And speaking of followers, where can people go to follow you online? You have social media, where can folks follow you online?
SPEAKER_05We do. Um, they can follow us on Facebook, that's where I post the majority of stuff. I need to get into posting more on Instagram because I'm finding that that's where a lot of people are going to nowadays. I I guess I'm just getting old. I don't know. There's so much social media I can't keep track of it. But we are listed. Facebook is where I do primarily to keep the updates rolling through. And I do have Instagram and TikTok. We have three songs out there that you can listen to on any streaming platforms Facebook, Snapchat. You can search for my name, YouTube, Pandora, any of that stuff.
SPEAKER_00So we're gonna listen to one in just a few minutes here. Uh in fact, we're gonna go ahead and take a break, uh, listen to a few commercials here, and when we come back, we're gonna listen to uh never-ending song called Cold Feet. It's coming up next, just a few minutes, right here on the Panhandle Party.

Parlor Donuts, oh no, where I'm going.
SPEAKER_03No, it's not a spawn spawn. Now for us.
SPEAKER_00And that was Cold Feet by the Never Ending Band. Shelly, tell us a little bit about that song. Who wrote it? What's it about?
SPEAKER_05So that song is probably the most personal song to me, actually. So thanks for picking that one to have me explain. Um that's really the Yeah, right. Um that's really the first song um that I wrote. Like I, you know, and um I kind of feel like it's just really about my journey um to where I am today, you know, and some of the things that I'm scared to do and approach, you know, being golfied, but you know, I have best intentions with my heart, so um that's kind of where that stems from, I mean.
SPEAKER_00So how does that whole process work with the songwriting with the band? You wrote the lyrics, did you write any of the guitar riffs? Did you write any of the instrumental parts, or do you take that to the band? How does that work?
SPEAKER_05Um I think I told you earlier this is the first band I've ever been in. So let me just tell you, I don't know how to read music either, okay?
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_05So really generally what happens, like every song that we've written together as a band, it's stemmed from uh the guys will be just kind of warming up and just jamming out, and they'll make something up, and I'll hear that, you know, cool riff that they're doing in there, and I'm like, hey, I like that, and something just in me clicks, and I'll just sit there and write, and that's how how it would be.
SPEAKER_00Do you do the uh the garblem mouth method? I've heard a lot of uh singers, artists interviewed, they say that they'll hear a melody, they'll hear a hear a beat, and they just start kind of just mm uh kind of mumbling words and sounds, uh, and things will come out, and then you start adding the actual words to that. Is that kind of your process?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah, exactly. Like, yeah, I'll just kind of make up that melody with just me, you know. Right ears and eyes, and then put words to it. Yeah. I have a lot of um I like to voice record everything so that I can go back and hear different practices or you know, shows and like, oh, I like that. Let me put more let me put some lyrics to it. So I'm gonna do that. Do you write all the lyrics for your band?
SPEAKER_00Do I? Do you write all the lyrics for your band or do some of the other band members write some lyrics to you?
SPEAKER_05Um I primarily I would say yes. Um but Rolling Waves and Dirt Rodotti were are the only songs that I did not personally write. Dirt Rodotti I had a hand in, but Rolling Waves, Ian actually wrote Rolling Waves. And that was our very first practice together that we had with the first group of guys that I had it um backing me up. We were just jamming out the very first 15 minutes we were playing together, and he had sent me the lyrics in a text message, and I was like, Oh, let me put these words to this song, and it it happened within 15 minutes. So I feel like that's kind of where I knew we had something special.
SPEAKER_00Is Ian the guitar player slash partner, or is that another member of the band?
SPEAKER_05Yes, that's that's my boyfriend.
SPEAKER_00Okay, tell tell us about the band. Tell us who's in it, where'd they come from, who plays what.
SPEAKER_05Okay, so this is where it gets a little tricky because Ian and myself are the primary members, and I have a few different guys to pick from, thankfully, to back me up. Um so right now I have Mark Thibodeau, he is in Pensacola, Florida. He plays bass for me, phenomenal bass player. He's been playing music all around for years and years now. Um I have Anthony Putt and Rudy umre dog on drums. Both awesome. Just the vibes from those guys back behind the drums are so much fun. They keep you on your toes. Um Lee guitar player, as I said, is Ian. There's no one that can fill Ian's spot. He is he's I always used to say my brother was the best guitar player I've ever heard, and my brother is very phenomenal, but I can't okay, I can't say he's better, but he's up there. He's great. And then um I have Bobby Bryant who plays rhythm guitar for me too, and nobody else actually plays rhythm either, so Bobby plays rhythm, and Bobby does some vocal stuff too.
SPEAKER_00Wonderful. Okay. Well, we're gonna listen to Rolling Waves, uh Ian's baby song, right? He wrote the lyrics to that. Yeah. We're gonna check that out. Another tune by Never Ending, that's coming up. Uh, just a minute. Don't start your doom scrolling just yet. We got a few form, uh a few more minutes right here on the Panhandle Party.
SPEAKER_01Jojo on the Go Mobile. Need a host, MC, or DJ for your next event. Jojo on the go mobile has got you covered. SPEAKER_00And we're back with Shelly Klutz, lead singer of Never Ending. That was their song, Rolling Waves. Shelly, what do you feel? What do you think about when you hear that song?
SPEAKER_05Ah, man, just good times. We have lots of great memories attached to that song. Um, it just makes me feel like I'm on the beach. It's like it does, right? It's like just being on the beach, just walking, just happy, just chill vibes.
SPEAKER_00Which is perfect for this area. Uh, if you're here in the Florida panhandle, uh, we're gonna tell you where you can see Never Ending. Uh, it's it's band season coming up, the weather's getting wonderful. There's lots of sandy shores for you to sit around and listen to some great music. So uh we're gonna tell you where to do that. I do have just some quick questions I want to follow up with you, Shelly. Uh, I'm just curious about you and kind of uh your vibe. So uh tell us, what's the first concert you ever went to?
SPEAKER_05Uh first, well, like as an adult, it would be Dave Matthews Band. Nice. Okay. As a child? Love Dave Matthew. Um, gosh. It's embarrassing if I don't say like, well, no, no. No, I actually got to go see a lot of good concerts um back in my day. Like uh, but people probably won't know. Like Dan Seals. I don't know if you know who that is.
SPEAKER_03And um no, no.
SPEAKER_05See? You're like, no. Steve Earl. I mean, do you know who Steve Earl? But um You know who Steve Earl is. You know the song Copperhead Rose. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely.
SPEAKER_05There you go.
SPEAKER_00Um okay, who's an artist you wish you could tour with? Who do you want to open for? Jewel. That would be cool. Okay. So um that fits kind of your bluesy country rock vibe, right?
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I like it. Um, how about what's a song you wish you had written? Man. Put you right on the spot.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, you are. There's so many good. All right, well, and see, and I always I always revert back to to Jewel. Um I would have to say probably maybe you were meant for me by Jewel.
SPEAKER_00Nice. Okay. Uh what about a favorite guilty pleasure song? Is that like That's like one you might be a little embarrassed to tell us. You might be a little embarrassed. Maybe it's maybe it's Rockin' in the USA by Miley Cyrus. Maybe it's I'm too sexy by right said Fred. Um, go to fast food. Uh where's your favorite go? You guys are on the road, you're touring. Favorite fast food when you're on the road.
SPEAKER_05McDonald's, if I get fast food. Oh, the fries.
SPEAKER_00You gotta do the fries.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, the fries. Fries and a McFlurry.
SPEAKER_00Ooh, di do you dip? Are you a dipper?
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Gotta dip. It's the only way. All right, beer, liquor, energy drinks.
SPEAKER_05None.
SPEAKER_00None of the above? You don't drink?
SPEAKER_05No. Uh-uh. I'm not a drinker. I'm not a drinker. I don't like energy drinks. I'm not. I just uh I just go to sing. That's what I always tell people. I'm just here to sing.
SPEAKER_00That's your high, that's your drunk, that's your energy. I got it. Uh are you an early bird or a night owl? Night owl for sure. Okay, that's good, because you've got to play late sometimes. Uh what's your favorite band of all time? Is it Jewel?
SPEAKER_05I would say Jewel, yeah. I've I really feel like she was like my first interest in like music, and she really inspired me, so yeah.
SPEAKER_00What's a cover song you never get tired of playing?
SPEAKER_05You're probably gonna hate this, and everybody in the music industry is gonna be like, but zombie.
SPEAKER_00Really?
SPEAKER_05Okay, yeah. I like it. I love how we do zombie. Like, we do zombie so awesome.
SPEAKER_00Do you get a lot of audience participation with that song? Are people trying to sing along and trying to hit those? Hey, hey.
SPEAKER_05Yes, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I love it when the audience joins in. That's it.
SPEAKER_00Drinks in the air, yes. What's up?
SPEAKER_05I'm like, get your lighters out. Let's go.
SPEAKER_00Let's do it. I'm gonna put you on the spot big time. Most overrated band of all time. No explanation. Who is it?
SPEAKER_05You know, I don't know why. This was the first thing that came to my mind because I don't even really listen to him, but Blink 182 came to my mind for some.
SPEAKER_00Oh, really? Blink? Okay. See, I'm I have an unpopular opinion. For me, it's the Rolling Stones. Like people love the Rolling Stones.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_00I mean, they're okay. Yeah, are you a big stones fan or no?
SPEAKER_05I mean, I'm not huge, but I like the Rolling Stones. I do. I actually cover I like I like um doing a version actually based off of Jewel Wild Horses. Rolling Stones does that one. That's one of my favorites. Oh, that's true. I've heard that. I've heard that.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00Well, Shelly, thank you so much. We'll be talking with Shelly Klutz, lead singer of Never Ending. Shelly, where can my listeners find you locally here? Uh, if they want to come out and see you in person, where are you gonna be?
SPEAKER_05Um, let's see. So we play on the 24th at the Salty Rose on Pensacola Beach. Uh, the 25th of this month, we are playing at the Moonshine Saloon in Pensacola. And then next month in May, let me check my calendar here. Um, we play at the 810 Bowling Alley in Panama City, Panama City Beach. Uh that is May 22nd. And then again, um, every month we're at the Salty Rose. We're there on the May 23rd. Um, every month we're back. Those are the three places we play at. Salty Rose, um, 810 Billiards and Bowling in Panama City Beach, and um the Moonshine Saloon in Pensacola. Now, we do play other places, but those are the three spots that we are locked in for sure. So if you just follow us on Facebook, I always post updates on there. Usually about two weeks before the show, I create an event. So just follow us on there first.
SPEAKER_00We'll get the links in the comments. We'll put all the dates in the comments there. Uh and again, for our non-locals, folks who want to listen, may not be close enough to come out for a live visit anytime soon, but want to hear you, where can they do that?
SPEAKER_05For a live, I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_00No, for uh folks that are not local, they just want to hear you. YouTube, Facebook, you're on both of those platforms.
SPEAKER_05So, yeah, if you're not local and you can't catch a live show, then you would just uh check us out on any streaming platform. You can find us on Pandora, SoundCloud, Spotify, iTunes, any of those. Just search Never Ending Band and look for the girl with the shaved head.

SPEAKER_05That would be awesome. Okay, you're singing lead for that one then.
SPEAKER_00Yes, Shelly, never ending. Go see him. Panhandle party, it's Jojo on the go on the go sessions. Bye.
SPEAKER_03Thanks, Kevin.
