That you found us. It's the fanhandle party. And you might have uh just gotten here by accident. But if so, don't scroll away just yet. You might have gotten here by magic because I'm on with magician Dylan Snow. Dylan, welcome to the program. Hello, thank you for having me on. I appreciate it. Absolutely. We're very excited here at the Fanhandle Party. You're performing in Fort Walton Beach at Suds and Cinema this weekend tonight and tomorrow night. So that's April 17th and 18th. If you're watching this later, you missed it, and you're gonna have to find him on social media, find out where to see him next. So Suds and Cinema is where you're gonna find Dylan. And we're gonna find out a little bit more about him today. Find out uh some personal things, uh, we'll find out some industry things, and maybe he'll even reveal a trick or two. I don't know. I haven't asked him that yet. Oh, maybe we'll see. We'll see. So, Dylan, are uh are you from uh the panhandle? Are you local here or how'd you get here?
SPEAKER_02I am not uh originally from the panhandle, no. I'm not from Florida. Uh my hometown is Chicago, Illinois. Born and raised there. The Windy City. Um born and raised in Chicago, grew up there, moved out to the suburbs around 2007, 2008 or so. Lived out there for a while, and then I moved back down to Chicago to kind of do more of my magic career back there. How long have you been doing magic? Oh, geez. I'm 26 years old. I think I've been doing magic for about 19, 20 years or so. 19 or 10 years. Well, tell me about that.
SPEAKER_03How to get started.
SPEAKER_02You five or six years old and just Yeah, yeah, something like that. My dad and I would watch this TV show called Stamp School, and the host of it, his name was Brian Brushwood, he would teach you how to do barbets and magic tricks. And I would always just dabble with it, like every kid back then with magic, you know, it's like, oh, we dabble in it here or there. Um so I I would dabble with it with my dad and try to do some of the barbets and do a little bit of magic tricks. Um, but for some reason, this one trick that he showed I really liked. And I learned it from the guy, and my dad's you know, pausing it and rewinding it over and over again, trying to get it. And once I got it down pat, uh I showed my mom, I showed my sister, I showed the dogs. Um they all were freaking out, you know, wow, how'd you do that? So then I stepped it up. My first live performance was at the lunch table with my friends. Oh, of course. And I took out the deck of cards that I had, and I uh did the trick in front of them, and I did it great, and they all were freaking out, and something about that feeling of that wonder and astonishment and them not knowing felt like a drug to me. It was like, whoa, this is a crazy feeling. I kinda like this. And uh went home and told my dad to record more episodes of Scandal, and we kept learning them, and eventually I found out there was a whole thing for this.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02That I went online and started going from YouTube video to YouTube video and then um eventually ended up going to books. So uh started learning magic tricks out of books, and um been doing that ever since now. Um, but yeah, it just kind of started from watching a little show with my dad and then now doing shows. So are you like me at all?
SPEAKER_03So and I think a lot of entertainers uh start this way, where you find out at a young age if you can if you can get somebody's attention, especially attention of adults, and if they pay attention to you for an extended period of time and you can create joy on their face in some way, you latch onto that. For me, it was jokes, it was laughing. If I could tell a joke and make my dad laugh, I thought, oh my gosh, I have arrived. You know what I mean? So, same for you, right? It's like you found this thing, and that's what fed the thirst for it.
SPEAKER_02Exactly. So, yeah, I it performing for adults is more my niche now. Obviously, uh every magician starting out goes through the kid show phase of doing uh kid birthday parties and kid events and all that stuff, performing for the for the kids um to start. And I remember my first time performing for the kids, uh a kids show, and I should have known right then and there, I should have gone to adults, but you know, it's a learning curve.
SPEAKER_03So um but yeah, but like I do never work never work with kids and pets, right? Isn't that what they say?
SPEAKER_02Exactly. Yeah, yeah. I don't do any animals in my show either, so yeah, no. Um but yeah, I I uh oh go ahead.
SPEAKER_03I was gonna say you made the dogs laugh, so I mean if if folks want to bring it down, I don't think there's pets allowed, yeah. No pets allowed at suds at cinema, but maybe I can. So you you mentioned barbets. Uh Barbets, did your dad ever take you out to the bar and like win a little money off you?
SPEAKER_02So he's not watching. We didn't go that extreme, no. It was more just yeah. Hi dad. Um we uh we would just mess around with it at home and and do it there, and and but then when I got older and I started to go more into the bar atmosphere, I would I would like click and I'm like, oh my gosh, I remember watching this on scam school a long time ago, and I would try to bring something back. Um Harry Anderson too is a little inspiration of mine too. I liked watching him perform uh not a wrestling piece in. I didn't get I know I just didn't get the scene rock live, but I've been watching old videos of him performing and stuff, and his vibe is cool, and his carny slash you know, con man phase is pretty fun. I like that. So but um The Amazing Jonathan 2. I try to incorporate a little bit of that. But I'm more so just perform my way, and that's more the Chicago style, just be me. You know, I tried finding a character, I tried finding a niche, and it never really worked out, so now I just perform as Dylan Snow.
SPEAKER_03So what I have found is what take who you are and make a caricature of that, turn it up to about 11, and that that'll be perfect for your audience. So uh I can't wait to see you. I'm coming out uh uh tomorrow night. I'll be out there tomorrow night to see the show. So very much looking forward to that. Um I I want to know, so you got into this very early, you started doing this uh for your classmates in school. Um, so you grew up in magic, and I'm curious, uh, did did the magic help or hurt in it when it comes to relationships? Because you know there's that stigma of uh oh well maybe this is not gonna get me a lot of debates. Is that true? Yeah, relationships. Oh, geez.
SPEAKER_02Don't stop now. Let's hear it. So it's crazy about that. Um we don't have to go back to the city. Yeah, so so performing magic. No, no, it's fine. I I think it's funny. I I laugh about it, and and there's a saying that somebody said that was really funny. Um it's like, oh, you know, so like this, for example, I'm at a bar, right? And I'm performing, and it's with with a bunch of guys, and they're like, oh my gosh, you're so good. Like you must pick up all the chicks and everything. And it's like, yeah, but I'm like I'm performing for a bunch of dudes, so like if the women were interested, they would be here too. But it's a bunch of dudes. I will say I did bring out magic on a few dates for the ladies. Um it's always a hit or miss. So it's always a hit or miss. I I don't really bring it up first, like on the first date kind of thing. I just I just would casually start introducing it, you know, and then they would eventually be like, oh, and it's either they disappear or they stick around for a bit. So we don't know. I don't know.
SPEAKER_03All right. Dylan, Dylan Snow, magician, performing at Suds in Cinema Fort Wallon Beach tonight, tomorrow night. We're gonna give him a chance to catch his breath. I made him blush a little bit. So we're gonna take a break. We'll be right back with more. We're gonna find out more about the act that you're gonna see this weekend coming up on Panhandle Party.

SPEAKER_03We're back with Dylan Snow. He's a magician. He's right here on Panhandle Party, and you're gonna see him live in person in Fort Walton Beach this weekend, tonight, tomorrow night at Suds and Cinema. Tell me a little bit about Suds and Cinema. I've been there, not all of my audience has been there. Tell me about that venue.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah, it's a great venue. Um, it's a movie theater uh at heart. Uh they were built in the 1940s, so it's an old theater uh slash movie theater. And it's not just a movie theater though, they do events here, they do parties, they do concerts, they do they had a prom not that long ago, um and everything, and then they also do magic shows now, and I'm their first magician to do this with them. Um it's a great venue. The owner slash you know, the owner of the business, uh Stacy, she's really, really nice. She's very just do whatever you want kind of thing, and that's great, and I appreciate that. And uh she's a very laid-back individual. It's so much fun to work with her. Um I was gonna say such and such that it's a great venue.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, um, they have all sorts of things, like you're saying. I saw Rocky Horror Picture Show there, but with a live cast. They do have a Shadow Cast. That was super cool. Uh and it's a it's a local business, locally owned and operated. We want to support them every chance we get. And that's the one. Yes, please come out whenever there is uh an act there. Uh I want to go see it. I want my listeners to go see it, and you're gonna do it this weekend, tonight, tomorrow night, Dylan. What can we expect when we come out and see you?
SPEAKER_02And I'm sending so the six o'clock to so I have four shows total on uh two Fridays, two on Friday, two on Saturday. And the six o'clock to seven o'clock show is more of the family type show, so bring the kids, you know, have a good time, all that stuff. Um, I plan on doing a magic trick that involves all the kids on stage, and we're gonna do one big giant trick together so everybody could feel like a magician, so we do that. Um, and then the eight to nine o'clock show is more like mainly the kids at home, and we can you know, just chill as adults. A good date night, even take the wife out, take the girlfriend out, whoever you're with, bring them over here for a good time, interactive magic, illusions, all that stuff. So yeah.
SPEAKER_03And that's what I'm gonna do. Uh, me and my girlfriend, we're headed out Saturday night, tomorrow night. Um, and one thing too, I want you to know if you haven't been to Suds and Cinema, uh, like you said, it's more than just a movie theater, it's more than just an entertainment venue. Uh, they have a a pretty good menu there. There's lots of delicious food, snacks, drinks. Their nachos are killer. Good nachos, beer and wine, uh, lots of lots of good things to enjoy while you're there. So it is truly dinner and a show.
SPEAKER_02Um, and what's nice is this is a small theater that uh everything will be able to be seen. I know a lot of magicians perform in these grand theaters and stages and all that stuff, and people in the back can't really see, and sometimes they have to get a camera mount and all that. This place is just the right size where no matter where you sit, you'll be able to see the show.
SPEAKER_03So have you ever thought about uh like going on some sort of talent competition on TV? I know that the lot of magicians uh AGT, I mean, that has brought magic around. Uh I think.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I uh let me mention that. I did try out for America's Got Talent a long time ago. Uh made it to the part where I was able to be in a Zoom call with the producer, like a a producer, and it was me and four other, no, me and three other people in a zoom call room. We each did our act. Uh fortunately I didn't hear anything back. Like, dang. Then I tried out for Penanteller Fool Us. Yeah, they still I could. I could maybe. Yeah, I probably could. Um then I tried out for Penanteller Fool Us, and I got to an email back saying, please give us the instructions on how you did the trick in case you get picked to come on, and if Pennanteller gets it, you can't say no, that's not you kind of thing. So I gave it all out to them, told them blah blah blah. Never heard back from them. Like, crap, okay. Um, but funny thing is though, back in Chicago, I used to work at a business where Penn Gillette from Penn and Teller was one of the investors into the shop and they were both doing a show, Penn and Teller, in Chicago at the at the Chicago Theater. And as a surprise, they were gonna come to the shop I was working at the day before the show. And sure enough, they both showed up, and I got to interact with them and talk with them and kind of chat magic with them, and they did a show on the little stage that the establishment had, and they went on first. Teller did something, Penn did something with his daughter, and then I went on, so I got to be like Penn and Teller open for me, so you know, do something like that. Oh, that's true.
SPEAKER_03That's true, that's right. You went on after that, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so I got to perform uh in uh the same place as Penn and Teller, and I didn't have to try to get on Fula. So that was a that was a big thing for me. And Penn Gillette said one of the most uh coolest quotes to me that I thought was great that I took with me was uh he gives mad credit to close-up magicians, which is what I do.
SPEAKER_03And uh it was cool to hear that from a big time performer. So when you do that close-up magic, you're gonna be on stage at Sudson Cinema. Um, the like you said, it's an intimate atmosphere. The crowd's gonna be able to see everything. Are you gonna have cameras, like like overhead cameras? What's it gonna be like?
SPEAKER_02Oh, so I do close-up magic when it comes to walking around. Um, okay. When I'm on stage, it's kind of called like parlor magic. So yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Spoiler. Okay, so you'll be in the crowd, walking around, interacting with people.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so I mean, I'll be up on a stage. I'm actually looking at it right now. So I'll be up on the stage doing my magic stuff, and then when I need like a volunteer, I kind of just get in the crowd. I just kind of like to interact with everybody. So in case I don't pick you to be on the stage for a show, at least you will feel like you are involved some way somehow into the show.
SPEAKER_03So well, that's great. And you are doing us a solid here at Jojo on the go uh and the panhandle party. You're allowing us to record uh Saturday night your Yes.
SPEAKER_02Usually I don't allow that, but I will allow that for you guys.
SPEAKER_03You're you're allowing that for us, for our audience, and uh we're we're doing that because not everybody who listens to us is local. So if you're local, of course, come out. There's nothing like a live show. It's gonna be best live. Yes, but if you are not local, uh we are recording this for you. It's gonna go on our Roku channel, um, under our clickbait channel, and so uh you're gonna be able to check Dylan out because when he comes to your town, we want you to go see him as well. So uh I know a big real tour is coming up, that's what I heard. Uh yeah, definitely in the maintenance.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. Who knows?
SPEAKER_03I wish, I wish, man. That would be crazy. Tomorrow night I'm gonna be there. Tonight you can be there or or come out either way. I want all of my listeners right now. If you're ten dollars a ticket. That's it. That's a steal. That's a steal to get in. It's it's only ten dollars a year.
SPEAKER_02An hour of magic.
SPEAKER_03An hour of magic. That's a great price for for that kind of a show. Um, the food and drinks are very affordable. Oh, yes. Nice.
SPEAKER_02Uh so you can get all the info there on that jazz and come by. Oh, also the thing is if you buy a ticket and you come to the show, you get a raffle to enter for a chance to win a one-of-a-kind Dylan Snow Magic t-shirt that I've been making. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I got the you have that in 3x by chance.
SPEAKER_02Uh, I've been working on them. Right now we're in a testing phase. I only got three sizes. I'm not eligible. We've been working on it. It's uh if you win it though, you can still like have it as a piece of memento.
SPEAKER_03So or maybe you can perform a magic trick and make me a 2x. That'd be sweet.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, there we go. We can work on that.
SPEAKER_03We can work on them. All right. We're gonna take another break. We'll be right back in just a moment with more with Dylan Snow on Jagger's Panhandle party for Jojo on the go.
SPEAKER_00Jojo on the go mobile. Need a host, MC, or DJ for your next event. Jojo on the Go Mobile has got you covered. From birthday parties to weddings to corporate parties and everything in between. Jojo and Jagger will get your party started and keep it rocking all night long. SPEAKER_03We are back on the Panhandle Party with Dylan Snow, magician, performing tonight, tomorrow night in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, right here in the Panhandle. You gotta go see him at Suds and Cinema. Dylan, I've got some questions for you. I want to do some rapid fire questions. No wrong answers, just tell me what you got. Are you ready? Alright, hit me. Let's go. Let's try this. Cards or coins. Cards. Close up or stage. Close up. What's your favorite trick to perform?
SPEAKER_02What? Oh, we go and they travel through it.
SPEAKER_03Got it. I'm looking forward to seeing that. What's your least favorite trick? No, no. I like them all, actually. Okay. What about is there a trick that fools you that somebody else does? Mind reading stuff. That does get me. Oh gosh. Mentalism. Is that what you're talking about? Mentalism?
SPEAKER_02Yes. That is baffling to me. So like if you write down a name of somebody and they guess it, I don't know. I used to I had a a friend who's a mentalist, actually, and I don't know how he does it. It's crazy. I don't want him to.
SPEAKER_03Do you know Oz Pearlman? Are you heard of him?
SPEAKER_02I think he was on America's Bad Talent. I was actually on a podcast that had him on as well. Yep. I was on a podcast that he was on, actually, at one point.
SPEAKER_03That was crazy. So he um was a guest on the Howard Stern show. I don't know if you heard of Howard Stern or listen to him, but he was a guest on that show. And he guessed a word that Howard had kept secret for many years. Um that he had had with I can't remember the actor's name now. Gosh, I can't remember her name. Valerie Bernelli, I think it was.
SPEAKER_02I remember seeing it though, because I remember I did some research on him and I and yeah, I know exactly what they're talking about.
SPEAKER_03That's crazy. Yeah. Mind-blowing. All right. Um do you ever mess up on purpose? 100%.
SPEAKER_02Uh because everybody would uh is the secret to what magicians call layman in that term, who is just like a spectator in a sense or the audience, is they show up and in the back of their mind they want a magician to fail at one point. They want somebody to fail.
SPEAKER_03But we I give them that false sense.
SPEAKER_02I give you what you want, but I wrap it back because it looks like I mess up, but I it it it's like a psychological thing. They're thinking, oh my gosh, a magician messed up. This is crazy. But I never really did. It was all part of it.
SPEAKER_03Organized chaos. I love it.
SPEAKER_02Organized chaos, yep. I like it.
SPEAKER_03What's the first trick you ever? Learned?
SPEAKER_02Um spectator picks a card, they put it back, I make a few piles, they pick it, I put them back, tell them to what their card is, and I take the cards and I spell out their card, and the last card I flip over is their card.
SPEAKER_03We teased at the beginning that you might reveal a trick. Is that one you could reveal? How you how do you do that?
SPEAKER_02Uh a little loud. If I'm allowed back and this goes well, I could do something better in a better setting, too. How about that?
SPEAKER_03Alright, we'll hold you to it. Absolutely. That sounds good. What is the most underrated magic prop?
SPEAKER_02Oh my gosh. Most underrated magic prop. Is it the just tag that they put you in? I would say sawing a woman in half is probably the most underrated one now. It's like everybody does it. You can know you're like people know how it's done now. I don't.
SPEAKER_03Gotcha. Well, that leads us into the next question. Overrated? Oh hold on. I totally said that. Tell them we don't need an outside for who is that? Bring him in here or her. Who was that?
SPEAKER_02That's that's my that's my that's my stage manager. He helps me. Bring stage manager on camera. I want to see him. Stage manager is on camera. Oh, great. Yeah, he does everything for me. This is my friend Jake. He helps me a lot. Jake.
SPEAKER_03Did we ask for an assistant producer on the show? What are you doing? He asked, What are you doing?
SPEAKER_02What am I doing? Yeah. Working on your side here.
SPEAKER_03I'm trying to bust your balls. I didn't realize you can't even hear me. I said, Did we ask for an assistant producer? What are you up to back there? I was gonna roll with it. I knew he didn't understand the question. I was gonna roll with it, but you corrected him and I love it. Yeah. That's what friends are for.
SPEAKER_02The most underrated tricks, I'll say, is uh art tricks. They've been used everywhere. The most overrated trick is sawing a woman in half. How about that?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and definitely don't recommend it if you're not a magician. Sawing a woman in half does get you uh 20 to life.
SPEAKER_02Uh the first time I ever did it uh was with my sister, actually. She was my first volunteer to cut in half. And it actually worked. I got her to be cut in half, and the only issue was putting her back together, so now she's my half-sister.
SPEAKER_03Oh my gosh. Oh, lovely dad joke. I got one more question for you. We're gonna wrap it up. If you could only perform one trick forever, what is it? Jake, help him out.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'll save my picture block, which if you come by, you can see one one of the most dangerous acts I perform.
SPEAKER_03I love it. So you're gonna perform that this weekend? Yes, sir. Yep. Tonight and tomorrow. Tonight. Tomorrow night. No, it's Jake will be there. Dylan will be there. Jagger will be there on Saturday. You've got to be there. Sudson Cinema, that's the place to be. Dylan Snow Magician, he's gonna be there. Uh, what are the times for the show times for uh tonight and tomorrow?
SPEAKER_02Six o'clock to seven o'clock is the kid-friendly, family-friendly show, and the eight to nine o'clock is the adult um adult show.
SPEAKER_03So I appreciate you holding that up, but I don't like reading much. So it's alright.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you're good. Those who want to read it, you put it out there.
SPEAKER_03Very good. And um what your social medias, how can people find you if they're not local, how can they see your magic?
SPEAKER_02And you can find me, Dylan Snow Magic, D-Y-L-E-N-S-N-O-W Magic, and I'm on Instagram, and I'm on YouTube. Um, you can even just Google me really and I pop up. But yeah, you can find me there.
SPEAKER_03You must got that SEO burning if they can just Google you pop right up.
SPEAKER_02I am on Google, and it's kind of crazy now that I got for that point where people can just Google there was still magic and I'm there.
SPEAKER_03So I love it. I love it. That's a sign you're doing the right things. Dylan Snow, we can't wait to see what you got in store for us. I'm excited to see you tomorrow night, and I appreciate you coming on the Panhandle Party. Um any last words for our listeners for your future watchers?
SPEAKER_02Please come by, check out the show. It's a great establishment, it's a great place to be. It's good just to hang out and chill, and uh, we're gonna have a good time.
SPEAKER_03Jake, anything you want to throw in since you want to be an interrupter?
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_03All right. See him tomorrow night. See him tonight. It's Jake and Dylan there at Sudge and Cinema, Fort Walton Beach. I am Jagger with Panhandle Party for Jojo on the go.
