This morning’s 6AM Call hit differently. I channeled my amazing niece who is graduating college today.
As graduation season fills the air, we talked about something bigger than caps, gowns, and diplomas…
✨ New beginnings.
✨ Reinvention.
✨ Becoming the next version of yourself.
The greatest graduation speeches from leaders like Steve Jobs, Oprah, and Denzel Washington all carried the same message:
👉 You will fail.
👉 You will doubt yourself.
👉 You will outgrow old versions of you.
BUT… you keep moving forward anyway.
And honestly?
That sounds a lot like real estate.
Some of us need the reminder that we are allowed to BEGIN AGAIN.
A new season.
A fresh mindset.
A recommitment to our goals, our health, our business, and our purpose.
The word “commencement” literally means a beginning… not an ending.
So maybe today is YOUR commencement. ❤️
Good morning, everyone, and happy Wednesday. Welcome to your 6 a.m. call where most people are sleeping or just waking up. You're already investing into your mindset, your future, and your growth. Today's call is inspired by graduation season. You may see it all over social media. You may have a child, a family member that's graduating, and I thought it would be a great topic to lean into. As I record this, actually, as I'm speaking about this, I'm actually getting ready right after this call to head to New York City with my son to watch my niece graduate from a small art school in New York called the School of Visual Arts. We are so incredibly proud of her that we took my son out of school for a couple of days so he can experience it as well. Because moments like these are so important and they matter. So it got me thinking, you know, like what is the meaning behind graduation, right? Obviously, it's because of the efforts, the degrees, but it's so much bigger than a cap and a gown. It's bigger than a diploma, and honestly, it's bigger than just a school. Sometimes we don't even acknowledge how important this day is, right? Really dive deep and really celebrate that graduate. When you listen to some of the greatest commencement speeches of all time from Steve Jobs, Denzel Washington, Oprah Winfrey, and others, there's always a common theme underneath all of them. Life is going to change, you are going to fail, you're going to question yourself, but still move forward anyway. And honestly, kind of sounds like real estate. One of the most famous graduation speeches ever was Steve Jobs telling graduates to stay hungry and stay foolish. His whole message was about trusting your path, even when it doesn't make sense yet. Think about that in our industry. Some of the biggest breakthroughs in your business happen right after the seasons where nothing even makes sense. The list appointment you didn't get, the buyer that ghosted you, the market shifted, the deal that fell apart, the season where you questioned if this was even worth it anymore. Yet somehow those moments often shape us the most. Denzel Washington gave another powerful message in his commencement speech where he talked about falling forward. He reminded graduates that failure is a part of the success and the process. And I think real estate agents especially need to hear that. Because too many agents think successful people don't fail. No, successful people fail constantly. They just don't stop. Graduation speeches are really reminders that life is beginning again. It's a fresh chapter, a reset, and a chance to reinvent yourself. And maybe that's the message for all of us this morning. Maybe we need to approach our careers the way the graduates get to approach life. They get to approach it with excitement again, with endless possibilities and creativity. Remember when we first got into real estate? We were so excited to help people, excited to learn, excited to build something, and excited every time your phone rang. Then somewhere along the way, production pressure, comparison, and burnout can make people forget why they even started. Graduates remind us what fresh energy looks like. They remind us what hope looks like. And here's what I love most about graduation season. Nobody expects the graduate to have it all figured out. They just expect them to begin. And everyone's so supportive about the beginning. And that's it. And maybe some of us need permission to begin again. Maybe this is your season to begin the health journey again, begin the social media again, begin the lead generation again, begin rebuilding your confidence again, and maybe begin your business again with just a different mindset. Because you are not behind, you are becoming. Would you finally make the call? Would you finally post that video? Would you finally believe something bigger is possible for your life? Because the beautiful thing about this business, and honestly, life, is we get to reinvent ourselves over and over again. I don't know what careers allow you to do that. We truly have that opportunity day after day. And maybe this morning is your commencement. Today is your fresh start. Your reminder that your story is still being written. So I hope everybody has an amazing day. Congratulations to all the graduates this season. If you know somebody or if you have a friend that has somebody that's graduating, and then maybe quietly as you graduate into a new version of yourself, congratulations to you. Have a wonderful Wednesday.
