At the FIFA World Cup, one of the most talked-about stories isn't Argentina or Spain — it's Cape Verde. A country of five hundred thousand people competing against one of the most dominant soccer nations on earth. On paper, it shouldn't even be close. But heart, discipline, and belief have a funny way of leveling the playing field. Sound familiar? Because right now, most agents are quietly checking out for the summer — and the ones who stay intentional while everyone else disappears are the ones who show up in September with a full pipeline and serious momentum. In this episode, we break down exactly what that looks like, including a simple two-hour daily challenge that could add up to one hundred focused hours by the end of summer. The math might surprise you — and so might what's possible if you actually do it.
Good morning, everyone. Happy Monday and welcome to your 6 a.m. call. Monday motivation, and I'm calling it the power of the underdog. As many of you know, uh I just got back last week from an incredible trip to Atlanta for the FIFA World Cup. Uh it was a dream experience for my family and I, the atmosphere, the energy, the passion. It was unlike anything I've ever experienced, and everything that I wanted to experience. One of the stories that's going around in the World Cup um conversations isn't about the biggest team. It's not about Argentina or Spain. It's actually about Cape Verde. This Orcabo Verde is what they call it now. It's one of the smallest countries in the tournament with a population of roughly 500,000 people. They played Spain, the game that we watched. That country, Spain, I think has 46 million players. So 500,000 compared to 46 million people, endless resources, and they have some of the most recognizable players in the world of Spain. On paper, Cabo Verde shouldn't have a chance. Yet they were competing, advancing, believing, and fighting, improving that heart, preparation, discipline, and belief can sometimes level the playing field. It reminded me a lot about real estate. Many agents feel like the underdog right now. Maybe you're newer in the business. Maybe you're competing against larger teams, a senior realtor. Maybe you're watching other agents dominate on social media. Maybe you're looking at your pipeline and wondering how you're going to finish this year strong. And now we're entering the summertime. The season when distractions are everywhere. The pool is calling you, vacations are planned, kids are home from school, barbecues, concerts, baseball games, lazy days, beach trips, family gatherings, they all fill up your calendar. And then as I preach, you need to fill your calendar up with those things. There's absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying those trips. In fact, I highly recommend it. We've talked a lot recently about living in the moment and being where your feet are. But here's where the best agents understand. You can enjoy summer without checking out of your business. The agents who win in the fall are often the ones who stay consistent during the summer. While others are disappearing, they're staying visible. While others are taking their foot completely off the gas, they're maintaining momentum. While others are waiting until September to get serious, they're planting seeds every single day. You just don't see it. They're not doing it 12 hours a day, not seven days a week. They're just being intentional and consistent and disciplined. Think about our power hour challenge. What if you committed to just two focused hours a day, five days a week, no distractions? You pick the five days, no scrolling, no busy work, just conversations, follow-up, prospecting, open house preparation, fine care, networking, database touches, just two intentional hours, five days a week. That's 10 hours a week. Over the next 10 weeks of the summer, that's 100 focused hours invested into your business. Imagine what that could do for your fall pipeline. Imagine the relationships you'll build, the referrals that you'll generate, the conversations you'll have, and the opportunity that you will create. Because success isn't built during the season when everyone is working hard. Success is often built during the season when everyone else is distracted. Cabo Verde didn't advance because they have the biggest roster. They advanced because they maximized what they had. They showed up, they believed in themselves, they stayed disciplined, and they have played with purpose. And that's exactly what I want you to challenge yourself for the rest of the summer. Don't compare yourself to the biggest team or the top producer. Don't compare yourself to the agent that has the biggest budget. Focus on maximizing what you have, your relationships, your network, your knowledge, your work ethic, your consistency. Because underdogs win all of the time. Everybody loves a good underdog story. And it's not because they're lucky, but because they're willing to do the work when others won't. So as we kick off this week, pun intended, ask yourself, what are two hours each day that I'm going to protect for my business this summer? Because if you stay intentional while everyone else is checking out, you may just have the strongest call that you've ever had. I hope that you have an amazing Monday. Let's go Cabo Verde. Let's go team and go be the underdog that nobody saw coming.
