Welcome back to the Everyday Faith Podcast from Eastside with today's Faith Rooted Principle. Hey there, welcome back. I'm Isaac Johnson. Today is May the 24th, Sunday. Hope that you have a great day today. Our principle for today is this claim God's promises today, and he'll do everything his word offers you as his child. Isn't it a blessing to be able to be a child of the King? And we have all the promises that we find in the Word of God. Every promise stands for the child of God. Second Corinthians 7 1, Paul writes, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. Because of the promises that you and I have, we should live like we have the promises of the king, cleansing ourselves of filthiness and perfecting our our holiness in the fear of God. There was a story about a starving man who wandered into a colonial town to beg for food, and a young man brought him bread and soup, and as he watched the man eat, he noticed he had a pat a pouch hanging around his neck, and he asked him, Well, what's inside? The teenager asked, and the man said, It's a paper that I've had since we won the war, the man proudly replied, but I can't read, so I don't know what it says. The teenager opened the pouch and found an aged official discharge from the Federal Army. It was signed by General Washington, and it entitled the old man to a pension for life. This man had a pension that he'd been promised, but yet he was begging because he had never claimed the promises of God. You know, the promises that we find in Scripture, they're not simply uh just expressions, but they are guaranteed backed by the power of Almighty God. And uh, you know, there's things that we see. Solomon said this, it Solomon said, There hath not failed one word of all his good promise. First Kings 856. And it was true in the day of the wise king, but it's still true today. Uh there are always circumstances that kind of cause us maybe to doubt and cause us to lose heart, but God's promises never fail. The only thing that hinders us from experiencing what God has promised is when we fail to do what he's commanded, when we fail to claim the promises, we got to come to him by faith, believing that we'll receive his reward, as Hebrews 11 6 tells us. We must fulfill the duties which will allow us to reap the rewards of obedience. Again, today's rooted principle is this claim God's promises today, and he'll do everything his word offers you as his child.
