Welcome back to the Everyday Faith Podcast from Eastside with today's Faith Rooted Principle. Hey there, welcome back. I'm Isaac Johnson. Today is Monday, June the 1st. Can you believe it? We have made it to June, and uh summer months are upon us, and hopefully it'll not get too much warmer here in Memphis. Uh, but uh wherever you're listening, thank you for listening this morning. Our rooted principle for today is this no matter how much fog surrounds you, stay in the water and keep swimming. And there's a story why uh where this principle comes from, and uh the idea is just no matter what, just keep going, uh keep pressing on. Uh Galatians chapter number six, verses nine and ten tells us this it says, and let us not be weary in well doing, for in due season we shall reap if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith. That again, that's Galatians six, nine and ten. And the idea, of course, is not growing weary uh and not feigning, uh, keeping going, keeping up uh the the work that you're doing. Frances Chadwick uh was one of the greatest open water swimmers of all time, and she uh was the first woman to swim across the English Channel in both directions. She also broke the time records for making uh the long and difficult swim, and in 1952 she set out to cover the 26 miles from Catalina Island to the coast of California. After Chadwick had been swimming for about 15 hours, she was surrounded by a thick fog and began to struggle. She told her mother, who was in the one of the boats accompanying her on this trip, that she didn't think that she could make it. After struggling for a bit longer, she gave up. And it wasn't until after she got in the boat that she learned that she had only been one mile from the shore. The next day she told an interviewer, I'm not excusing myself, but if I could have seen the land, I think I might have made it. And you know, that's really kind of the way we are. So many times we'll fall short of reaching our goal and and doing what uh we should for God because we get discouraged, we lose heart just before we would have seen the victory. You know, we must not be impatient when we don't see results immediately. We live in such a day of instant gratification. We want to see results automatically. We get irritated, right, uh, when our phone doesn't load the the browser quick enough. It it's supposed to be quick, it's supposed to be instant. We want everything instantly, but the fact that we have not yet received the promises of God, it doesn't mean that we won't receive them. Every promise of God is certain. It's certain from the moment that he made it, whether it's come to pass or not. Two months after her failed attempt, Frances Chadwick was back in the water again and attempted to swim from California from excuse me, from Catalina to California, and again the fog set in, but after and after she had been swimming for hours, but this time, instead of quitting, she pushed through and reached the shore. She pushed through and accomplished her goal. Again, here's the rooted principle for us today. No matter how much fog surrounds you, stay in the water and keep swimming. We must not faint. Have a great day.
