25 Days of Prayer and Praise - June 28, 2026

Welcome back to the Everyday Faith Podcast from Eastside with today's Faith-Rooted Principle. Hey there, welcome back. I'm Isaac Johnson. Today is Sunday, June the 28th. I hope that you have a fantastic Sunday today. And I just want to talk about one thing that happened on June the 28th, 1919. Really, it happened five years, exactly five years after the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand, which ignited World War I. Representatives of the Allied nations in Germany gathered in the Hall of Mirrors at the Palace of Versailles in France. And the war had claimed lives of millions and devastated uh nations across Europe. Of course, this is again World War I, and uh this is today on June the twenty-eighth is when the Treaty uh of Versailles officially brought World War I to an end, and it required uh Germany to re recep uh accept rather responsibility uh for the war and reduce its military uh surrender territory, pot uh pay uh reparitions for the war and things that had happened. And uh while the treaty ended the fighting, uh history reminds us that true peace is more much more difficult to achieve than simply just signing a document. And you think about the men and the ladies that gave their life during that war, during World War One. And uh, of course, we understand uh that true peace doesn't come uh through some treaty like that is signed. Uh true peace comes through Jesus, as we find in John 14. Uh peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you, not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. You know, uh governments can negotiate peace, but only Christ can give uh peace to the human heart. And so uh as we're going through our twenty-five days of uh prayer and praise, uh I just want to remind us and to think about uh the freedoms that we enjoy, and it's come at a tremendous cost. Countless men and women have answered uh the call to serve in our armed forces, and uh some gave years of their life, and uh some gave their life, and I'm so thankful for that. Military service, it's a serious responsibility, and we should never take for granted those that uh stand ready to defend our nation and to protect our liberties. Aren't you thankful uh for our military personnel, the past, present, uh, and our the future folks that will serve in our military? Let's pray and thank God for our military. Dear Heavenly Father, thank you so much for uh the might of the military that you've given our nation. Lord, over the years and the different wars that have been fought and uh the lives that have been given to for us to be able to do the things that we can do right now, to be able to uh come over the airwaves like we're doing right now, to be able to uh to proclaim the name of Jesus freely. Lord, it's because uh there was men and women that fought uh for the liberty and for the freedoms that we have. Thank you so much for that. Lord, I pray that you would continue to help us to have a strong military that stands ready to defend our nation. And again, thank you so much for uh the military might that you've given America.
