Welcome back to the Everyday Faith Podcast from Eastside with today's Faith Rooted Principle. Hey there, welcome back. I'm Isaac Johnson. Today is Wednesday, July the 8th. I hope that you have a great day today. Our rooted principle is this never compromise your principles. Once you start down that road, you'll find it hard to ever stop. So don't even give an inch. Don't compromise is the principle for today. Don't give an inch. Ephesians chapter number four, verse twenty-five through twenty-seven, the Bible says this, wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbor, for your members one of another. Be angry and sin not. Let not the sun go down upon your wrath, neither give place to the devil. Don't give the devil an inch. A hunter raised his rifle and took careful aim at a large bear. When he was about to pull the trigger, the bear spoke in a small a soft, soothing voice. Isn't it better to talk than to shoot? What do you want? Let's negotiate the matter. Lowering his rifle, the hunter replied, I want a fur coat. Good, said the bear. That's a negotiable request. I only want a full stomach, so let's negotiate a compromise. They sat down to negotiate, and after a time the bear walked away alone. The negotiations had been successful. The bear had a full stomach, and the hunter had his fur coat. It's kind of funny, kind of silly illustration, but the fact of the matter is if you give the devil even one inch, he's gonna take a mile. The pages of scripture and history are filled with sad stories of people who thought, you know, it's okay. I I can just let my guard down just a little bit without suffering any consequences. And listen, each of them was wrong. You think of Lot. Lot, he let his guard down, he lifted his eyes up, he kept getting just a little bit closer, just a little bit closer to Sodom, and ended up tearing his family apart. You think about Noah, uh, you think about David, and just that one little look, and then I'll look back. And uh Peter, they're just those are just a few examples who made it just started with a small step towards the wrong, wrong thinking, and uh they thought, well, you know, I'm still in control, only to find out and find themselves mired in sin. You know, you may remember the saying that you've learned back uh from Sunday school, or you've heard it uh many times, probably even from the pulpit. I know I've said it even from the pulpit uh and to our teenagers several times this that sin will take you farther than you want to go, it'll keep you longer than you want to stay, and it'll cost you more than you want to pay. There's no negotiating with Satan. It's not like that bear, right? That they sat there and they had those negotiations. Anything that you give up, he's gonna take. But because he is a liar and he is the father of lies, he'll never keep a promise that he makes to you. So let's stand our ground firmly. Never retreat on a single principle or a single convincing.
