00:01:40.000 But we've sure come a long way since we began a long, long, long time ago. 00:01:41.200 --> 00:01:47.599 And we come today to the 40th chapter of the book of Exodus, and we'll start at hanging of the door to the tabernacle, and thou shalt set the altar of the burnt offering before the door of the tabernacle of the tent of the congregation, and thou shalt set the labor between the tent of the congregation and the altar, and shalt put water therein, and thou shalt set up the court roundabout, and hang up the hanging at the court gate, and thou shalt take the anointing oil and the ark, and put the mercy seat above upon the ark, and he brought the ark into the tabernacle, and set up the veil of the covering, as prescribed in chapter 26, verses 33 to 35, and covered the ark Moses. 00:13:34.720 --> 00:13:50.720 Now, verse number 33 says, and he reared up the court round about the tabernacle and the altar, and set up the hanging of the court gate, so, so Moses finished the work. 00:13:51.120 --> 00:13:56.799 Now that word so is put in summary, but it also has to do with the manner, the nature of the work. 00:13:57.039 --> 00:13:58.080 How did he do it? 00:13:58.240 --> than most people are interested in, not as thrilling as some of the grand stories of the Bible, the ouches and the sockets and the pillars and the boards and the size of this and the size of that, and the overlaid here and the woven there. 00:14:32.639 --> 00:15:07.919 And yet, after all these people followed the leadership of Moses in laboring to build this tabernacle, and after Moses directed and led so that everything that was done was done in perfect accord with God's will and God's word and God's commandments, then, not a moment, not a moment sooner, then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation. 00:15:08.320 --> 00:15:14.240 And the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. 00:15:15.840 --> 00:15:18.399 Now listen very carefully, please. 00:15:19.039 --> 00:15:26.000 The glory of the Lord did not fill that place because God is enamored with goatskin curtains. 00:15:26.639 --> 00:15:37.919 The glory of the Lord did not fill that place because God is just attracted, irresistibly attracted to boards and sockets and pillars. 00:15:39.200 --> 00:15:50.399 The glory of the Lord did not fill that place because God had never seen anything as beautiful as a table of showbread or a brazen altar. 00:15:51.440 --> 00:16:12.000 I'm telling you, the glory of God came and filled that dwelling place because the Lord delights to fellowship with his people and will do so when they are found in obedience to him. 00:16:14.080 --> 00:16:43.200 When his words were specifically obeyed, when his commandments were carried out to the letter by willing-hearted men and women, when that thing was finished to God's specifications both inside and out, then the glory of the Lord came and filled that place. 00:16:44.639 --> 00:16:49.600 There's another dwelling place in Scripture where God took up residence. 00:16:51.120 --> 00:17:15.759 When Solomon built the great temple on Mount Zion, the building blocks, the size, the dimension, the shape, the architecture, the woodwork, the ornaments, the furniture, the decorations, when everything was done in perfect accord with God's words and God's commandments. 00:17:16.160 --> 00:17:24.240 The Bible tells us in 1 Kings the eighth chapter that the glory of God came and filled that dwelling place. 00:17:25.759 --> 00:17:35.359 There's a third dwelling place on earth for man, where God comes to dwell with man. 00:17:36.240 --> 00:17:40.720 It's the New Testament church, the bodies of saved born-again believers. 00:17:40.880 --> 00:17:43.200 We are called, 1 Corinthians 6 says it. 00:17:43.599 --> 00:17:44.559 What know ye not? 00:17:44.720 --> 00:17:49.119 Your bodies are the temple of the Holy Ghost. 00:17:50.720 --> 00:17:58.559 Now the Lord gave some very specific instructions to his infant church. 00:17:59.519 --> 00:18:08.000 And as that infant church waited in the upper room, you read about it in Acts chapter number one, they did exactly what God told them to do. 00:18:08.559 --> 00:18:11.519 They were exactly where God told them to be. 00:18:12.000 --> 00:18:18.160 Their hearts and minds were exactly as God had instructed. 00:18:19.039 --> 00:18:20.160 What happened? 00:18:20.400 --> 00:18:29.039 The glory of God came and filled that upper room where they were all sitting in one accord. 00:18:29.279 --> 00:18:30.480 Now listen carefully. 00:18:31.119 --> 00:18:33.839 I'm not going to go into filled with the glory of God when those people were in complete and perfect obedience to the Word of God. 00:19:07.359 --> 00:19:16.400 The glory of God filled that temple when the people of God were acting in complete and perfect obedience to the Lord. 00:19:16.640 --> 00:19:36.240 And the glory of the Lord filled that place where the New Testament church was assembled when those people, when those people were living in perfect obedience and complete obedience to the Word of God. 00:20:00.079 --> 00:20:02.720 Thereon, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. 00:20:05.119 --> 00:20:27.119 The glory of God sent those in that building, in that place, out from that place to declare, to manifest, to speak forth, to show forth that the glory of God had come and filled the chapter 24, when the glory of the Lord was upon Mount Sinai, that whole mountain was on fire, but not consumed. 00:22:27.039 --> 00:22:36.160 This pillar of fire resting on this tabernacle and not consuming the wood, the skins, the fabric. 00:22:36.799 --> 00:22:39.920 It's miraculous, it's supernatural, it's God. 00:22:41.440 --> 00:22:51.039 So the pillar of the cloud of the Lord was upon the tabernacle by day, and the fire was on it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel. 00:22:51.519 --> 00:22:56.559 And then stunning words throughout all their journeys. 00:22:58.400 --> read about all the failure of the people in Leviticus and Numbers and Deuteronomy, how could they do that with that pillar of fire shining right before their eyes and that pillar of cloud glowing the glory of God abiding day and night with the children of Israel. 00:24:22.160 --> 00:24:23.680 Did they deserve that? 00:24:24.000 --> 00:24:24.319 No. 00:24:24.640 --> 00:24:25.839 Did they earn that? 00:24:26.079 --> 00:24:27.359 Certainly not. 00:24:28.160 --> 00:24:39.519 But God by his power, God by his grace, God, because he set his love upon those people, look at where he's brought
