00:01:53.040 Just a little mistake by the Creator, and the earth would be as dead as the other planets. 00:01:53.439 --> 00:02:01.120 Many astute minds have overlooked the fact that if life had evolved on the earth without a mastermind, it would have evolved its own destroyers. 00:02:02.239 --> 00:02:13.520 If the Holy Scriptures had not been inspired, some of the hundreds of mistakes that are found in all other ancient books would have gotten into the Bible, and it would be as easily discredited as they are. 00:02:14.080 --> 00:02:24.240 Many visionary theories would not be taken seriously if men realized that through the centuries subtraction and addition must play together or break up the game. 00:02:24.479 --> 00:02:43.280 If, for example, in the last three thousand years the annual birth rate of mice and of men had exceeded the death rate by one half of one percent, a million more worlds the size of ours would have been needed for colonization. 00:02:43.599 --> of authority the church has, and yet men within the church think it their duty to attack that authority. 00:03:56.639 --> 00:04:11.360 Now, of course, if through the ages God has sponsored a religion that needs to have its discredited theories replaced every century, as science does with its own theories, that God must have made many mistakes. 00:04:11.680 --> 00:04:14.400 But man is the mistake 00:04:40.800 --> 00:05:00.800 If the Bible warned against black cats or planting in the wrong phase of the moon, or when the signs of the zodiac are not lined up just so, if the Bible had sponsored any of the hoodoo, voodoo, pow wow, and jinx defeating rites that are popular with many, ignorance would be a Christian asset. 00:05:01.759 --> 00:05:20.720 But those who insist that the Bible is folklore have yet to explain why the Bible disapproves of old wives' fables, disapproves of sorcery, disapproves of enchantment, soothsaying, witchcraft, necromancy, and the host of superstitions that enslave the world. 00:05:21.040 --> 00:05:24.800 Where are those superstitions in the Bible? 00:05:25.120 --> 00:05:30.639 Nothing there but rebuke for those taken in thereby. 00:05:31.759 --> 00:05:36.959 You know, it's not so long ago that the treatment of many sick people started with the bleeding of the patient. 00:05:38.319 --> 00:05:51.439 It wasn't all that long ago that children with measles were dosed with a tea made from the refuse of the sheep barn, and children with croup were given a drink so revolting that I won't even tell you what it was. 00:05:52.160 --> 00:05:57.680 Boys and girls with chicken pox were made to lay down in the barnyard, and the chickens flew over them. 00:05:59.360 --> 00:06:08.879 If the Bible prescribed any of a hundred medical remedies, now discarded by science, atheists would make much of it. 00:06:09.120 --> 00:06:20.079 In the Bible we have figs for poultice, wine for disinfectant, oil to anoint damaged tissues, all of which time has proven to be sound medical practice. 00:06:20.879 --> 00:06:29.120 The Bible is the only ancient sacred book that has emphasized prophecy and has staked its case on the forecasts of the prophets. 00:06:29.439 --> 00:06:37.439 Prophecies that do not come true ought to discredit their purveyors, but unfortunately multitudes come back for second and third helping. 00:06:37.920 --> 00:06:54.240 You know, back in the days of the Little Brick Schoolhouse, boys and girls heard and read forecasts of teachers, philosophers, statements, poets, politicians, some preachers, who with amazing unanimity prophesied the speedy moral uplift of the nations. 00:06:54.879 --> 00:06:56.720 Then came the Great War. 00:06:57.040 --> 00:06:59.279 Then came the Second World War. 00:06:59.519 --> 00:07:08.000 You know, for a few decades it seemed evident to many people that reform forces working in and with the church might Christianize society. 00:07:08.160 --> 00:07:11.600 You ought to read the writings of the late 1800s. 00:07:13.839 --> 00:07:21.279 But the Lord foretold a different end for the world and a different course for man. 00:07:22.160 --> 00:07:39.360 And though a million volunteer prophets should cry peace, peace, everyone will be discredited, and every one of their prophecies had to be discarded as the last century unfolded. 00:07:39.680 --> 00:07:40.800 The Bible? 00:07:41.279 --> 00:07:43.759 The Bible stands unimpeached. 00:07:44.160 --> 00:07:58.959 Surely no student of the Word of God will say that God ever promised peace, prosperity, and stability to any nation, when its show houses, stadiums, arenas, grandstands, nightclubs, and saloons are crowded, and its churches are comparatively empty. 00:07:59.759 --> 00:08:12.399 You know, it takes a great deal of gall, as far as I'm concerned, it takes a lot of nerve to continue to blow the whistle for utopia as the next stop along the line. 00:08:12.800 --> 00:08:14.480 But still we have them. 00:09:24.480 These people that told you the late great planet Earth would pass away in the 1970s, they're still on the religious TV, and people still take them seriously when they quote unquote prophesy. 00:09:25.600 --> 00:09:31.600 You know if the Bible forecast is right, God's forecast has never been wrong. 00:09:31.919 --> 00:09:39.039 It seems to me that men should be apologizing to the 00:10:09.919 --> 00:10:19.440 The Bible records no prophecy having to do with our times that has not been fulfilled or is in the process of fulfillment exactly as it was written. 00:10:20.799 --> 00:10:24.799 Now scientists tell us there are nearly a hundred elements in the makeup of our world. 00:10:25.120 --> 00:10:29.840 Some say now over one hundred, it depends on which chart you're looking at. 00:10:33.919 --> 00:10:41.519 You can argue about those things, but anybody that ever sat through a chemistry class in high school remembers the dreaded periodic table of elements. balance of those we have, and certainly if any one of a dozen elements that could be named were taken away, Earth would be a desert. 00:11:09.440 --> 00:11:21.200 God has just the right number, in just the right proportion, and they behave exactly the right way, so that all the pulls balance all the pushes. 00:11:21.919 --> 00:11:24.480 Without lime there could be no bones. 00:11:24.799 --> something men desperately cling to in hopes they can rid their mind and conscience of God. 00:11:58.000 --> 00:12:03.039 Most of what man knows he learned from some other person's experiments or mistakes. 00:12:03.440 --> 00:12:11.840 And after a fourth of his life is spent in school, man fumbles with the mysteries of life and matter, sometimes with an air of profundity. 00:12:12.639 --> 00:12:14.879 But God served no apprenticeships. 00:12:15.120 --> 00:12:21.759 He had no counselor, he had no instructor, he had no teacher, no trial and error experiments until he could get it right. 00:12:22.639 --> 00:12:43.759 You know that if through the centuries snowflakes accumulated one half of one percent faster than they melted, the water of the earth would pile up in mountains of ice until the weight crushed the crust of the earth, or gathered all the water of the earth in a frozen embrace. 00:12:44.240 --> 00:12:53.919 Now think about it, think on how how a little change would result in that one half of one percent and consider that there have been glacial ages. 00:12:54.720 --> 00:13:09.840 If the melting point of ice were slightly lower, if the earth were tilted otherwise than it is, if the highlands were higher, if the atmosphere were thinner or shallower, if the sun were smaller, cooler, or farther away, this this might easily follow, this ruin of all. 00:13:11.039 --> 00:13:13.360 But God knew what he was doing. 00:13:14.000 --> 00:13:19.200 He put everything in the balance, measured it out perfectly. 00:13:21.039 --> 00:13:34.159 From absolute zero, four hundred and sixty degrees below Fahrenheit zero, up to the boiling point of water at two hundred and twelve degrees above, is six hundred and seventy-two degrees. 00:13:35.039 --> 00:13:42.320 Now anywhere between these extremes, God could have fixed the freezing melting point. 00:13:42.799 --> 00:13:50.879 But listen, anywhere except where it is, at thirty-two degrees above would have been a mistake. 00:13:51.360 --> 00:14:04.480 If water froze four percent of the six hundred and seventy-two degree range lower than it now does, it could rain in a temperature of six degrees above zero. there would be frosts whenever the temperature dropped to forty five degrees above, and snow and ice would never melt in colder areas of the earth. 00:14:32.960 --> 00:14:42.799 Whatever caused the advance and retreat of the ice fields in glacial ages, there could be no retreat if water froze at forty five degrees above. 00:14:43.360 --> 00:14:46.320 Not an accident, my friend, not a chance. 00:15:09.039 --> 00:15:20.559 To prevent such a disaster, God put salt in the sea, and arranged that evaporation takes nothing but fresh water back to the land. 00:15:22.159 --> 00:15:46.639 What a fickle substance water is, its molecules locked together in flinty embrace as ice, cover the earth with a dry blanket of snow in winter, quench the thirst of plants and animals, shade us from the sun as clouds, drive ponderous machinery as steam, and if superheated, push one another through the steel plates of a boiler. 00:15:47.200 --> 00:15:51.200 Then if you take water apart and light a match, it'll blow you up. 00:15:52.320 --> 00:16:01.679 Now suppose water were just a little more or just a little less volatile than what it is. 00:16:02.000 --> 00:16:09.519 If it evaporated more readily, can that be? 00:17:09.039 --> 00:17:39.599 If God gave to an inexperienced angel a barrel of human brains and gave him the task of designing another world, if that angel had the brains of a thousand scientists, he would not in a hundred years think of combining two gases into a substance so that man could build houses with it, walk on it, drink it, wash in it, catch fish out of it, turn a desert into a garden with it, make rainbows out of it, drive machinery with it, boil beans in it, and then use it to put out the fire. 00:17:41.359 --> 00:17:52.240 When God made the world, he had vast quantities of chlorine and sodium, one destructive to life, the other a deadly poison. 00:17:53.039 --> 00:17:55.920 This was not a problem for a resourceful God. 00:17:56.400 --> 00:17:58.160 He made people, and people with shapely ankles would be most unfortunate. 00:20:12.720 --> 00:20:19.920 The contents of the stomach would weigh much more, and the man who ate a large beefsteak might dream great as the Earth. 00:20:47.359 --> 00:20:58.160 If sand, dust, and loose matter on the Earth's surface were only one third its present weight, you can guess what would happen the first windstorm claimed to be the Creator. 00:22:55.680 --> 00:23:00.240 But the Lord Jesus Christ referred to himself as I am. 00:23:01.200 --> 00:23:07.599 He called himself the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. 00:23:08.480 --> 00:23:09.680 I believe him. 00:23:10.559 --> 00:23:19.519 I believe that I live not on an accidental chance, but on a created earth. 00:23:19.920 --> 00:23:25.920 I believe that I am not a chance product of evolution, but a created being. 00:23:36.160 --> 00:23:50.640 Not only did he create this earth, he came to this earth, died upon this earth, rose from the dead upon this earth, and he saves sinners upon this earth. 00:23:51.359 --> 00:24:03.119 The Bible says that if a man will but believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, he can be, he shall be, he will be,
