Hey Emily, do you know what a Disney buzz is? Oh yeah. The Disney buzz? It's that bubbling of excitement you feel as soon as you step into the Disney bubble. Almost like a surge of energy running through you, filling you with absolute pure joy. So much happiness. But please know that by buzz, we don't mean any alcoholic influence. Although today we are talking about places to eat at Walt Disney World, and we're sharing our favorite cocktails too.

JennyWe are two Canadian sisters who love every Disney adventure from travel with family to running marathons. On today's show, we're talking about our favorite places to eat at Disney World. Okay, Emily. Today we're talking about our favorite places to eat at Walt Disney World. So I've got a list of six different places. And let's just go back and forth with what your favorite is and then what my favorite is, kind of like we did last time. Okay. Last episode. That sounds good. But on quite honestly, there are a lot of great places to eat and a lot of yummy food. So I have a feeling this is going to be hard to narrow down to favorite. It's listen, I made my list and it was so hard to narrow down. And I also was making it and going, like, oh, I always go here. Like maybe I should put something else. But you know, I kind of feel the same. I think I basically on my favorite list, it was what popped into my head first. But that kind of, you know, meeting action. I just went with, oh, I went with my gut. Because where does the food go? It goes to my gut. Yeah, me too. I went with like what comes into my head first, that's my favorite. And then I was like, no, maybe I should think about it. And I'm like, no, if it came into my head first, that was my favorite. Yeah, yeah. I'm going to the first category is your favorite post-race dinner. Okay. I have a feeling we might be similar on this one because I know it's one of your favorites, but I chose Ohana at the Polynesian resort. Am I right? No, okay, okay, okay, good. Maybe you're not as predictable as I thought. Why is that your favorite post-race dinner? Oh my goodness. Okay. Well, first of all, it's an all you care to enjoy, which I love how they say that. All it's not all you can eat, because of course you can totally overstuff yourself, but all you care to enjoy, and it's family style. So they bring you, it's it's as much food as you want. And when you're done running a long distance race, you're ready to take in some calories. You know, you've earned it. Like, why do people run? So they can eat. Anyway, that's that's one of the things because it's one, it's a big meal. You're going to leave there being really full. And so I I like it for that. That there's a lot, and the thing is, the food is so good. And so they will bring you more. They the family, what family style is they bring you plates of like a platter of there's chicken wings, there's grilled beef, teriyaki beef, there's these really yummy noodles. They call them ohana noodles, grilled chicken. Never mind, even just the oh, and shrimp. I how many shrimp do I eat in one of those nights? I can't even count because I I think I focus a lot on the shrimp. But there's also bread, this yummy, it's kind of like a bit of a sweet bread. I don't know how you how would you describe it, but it's got like a honey butter with it. An apple coconut. I don't know, it's really yummy. Yummy. Yeah, well, it's it's like the Hawaiian bread that you rolls, the Hawaiian rolls that you would get. But quite honestly, this may sound ridiculous because I do pig out when I'm there. But one of my favorite things is the salad. This the green salad, it's so crisp, and it has this yummy citrus vinaigrette with it. And I always ask for more because they they'll bring you a platter of it, like a platter of chicken or whatever, and you can ask for more for any of the of the different items. Oh, and like I'm I'm forgetting. There's dumplings, did I say chicken wings and grilled chicken? Yeah, okay, but the pies de resistance, the way you didn't say the steak and the grilled chicken and the grilled shrimp and the okay, go ahead. Oh, and stir-fried vegetables, don't forget the veggies, which are also excellent. But the reason we went back for one for a trip one weekend was because of the pies de resistance, the dessert, the Ohana bread pudding a la mode with caramel sauce. Ugh, so good. That's so good. It's like this pineapple coconut bread pudding. Oh. And it's kind of tragic at the same time because you're so stuffed, but you just want to eat all of that bread pudding. It's so good. So delicious. And so you just feel like you you have no guilt because you've just run your marathon race and uh you can totally pay out on and everything. I don't think there's an item on that menu that I don't like that I've but there's certainly ones that I prefer more, but yeah, that's that's my post-race meal. How about you? It's a good one. Well, I also chose something that is a family style, all you care to enjoy. And I chose the Hoop-De Doo musical review. Featured post-race dinner, and I'll tell you why for a few reasons. One is yeah, the you can pig out if you want, like you can replenish the calories. The also all you care to enjoy beer or sangria or wine aspect is nice because all those days leading up to a long run like a marathon, you're not drinking the alcohol, but it's nice to have a celebration after the race. I also love it because of the entertainment factor. So it's such a great show. Absolutely fun, it's entertaining, it's hilarious, it is like Broadway quality. It is just, I can't say enough about it. I really love the hoop-de-doo, and I just think it's a really fun way to celebrate a post-race. I absolutely agree. It is anything hoop-de-doo, it's more about the show. But yeah, it's great to have all the cornbread and the yeah, it's it's yummy. It's good. Fried chicken, all the mac and cheese and the beans and the strawberry shortcake. Strawberry shortcake. That's probably the only part of that meal that I don't eat, to be honest. Well, yeah, and actually, I really like the food at the Hoop Dee Doo. I think it's really yummy, but I have to say, I do not like the strawberry shortcake. It's not the it out of strawberry. Let's just be honest. It's not a strawberry shortcake. I don't know who thinks that is good. It's not ice cream, isn't real. The cake isn't even like it's just there's nothing good about it. More of a yeah, we're used to more of a biscuit kind of cake with our strawberry shortcake. Yeah. But anyway, let's stay on the positive here. It's a great post-race celebration. Okay, next category. Okay, well, I'm gonna start. I'm gonna ask you this time. What is your favorite sit-down meal? Well, now you're gonna laugh because my favorite sit-down is Ohana. I knew I had to make the list somehow. I do know you. I feel like with the two categories, the post-race dinner and the sit-down dining, we kind of got a double whammy on the sit-down meals, but we didn't know that we were gonna choose a sit-down for our post-race. Like post-race could have been anything. We just happened to both. That's true. Could have been a bucket of it. But anyway, we've we've sort of talked Ohana, I think, to death now. So we all know Ohana's amazing. What's your favorite sit down? I've never, just for the record though, I've never been to Ohana for for breakfast. But so I when I'm talking about it. I don't think they serve the bread pudding for breakfast. Oh, well then I'm not going. Okay, what's your favorite sit-down? Oh, my favorite sit-down is I forget the name of it exactly, but I think it's called the coral reef. It's that over Cop Cut. Yeah. Yeah. And I like because I do like seafood on there, they've got nice fish. And I just remember the there was like I had a great fish with rice dish and like this little kind of side salad. But I also I think I'm really about the ambiance because it's really cool. Like we got a seat one time and it was right beside that huge aquarium. Yeah, and you can watch, you know, sometimes they have divers going through, but you watch the the animals swimming by, and it's just so cool. But I also really well, they are animals. Okay, fine, they're part of the animal kingdom. Go ahead. Fish, sharks, science teacher, fish, sharks, humans, mermaids. No, I don't I don't know. Maybe the odd Mickey. I don't know. Anyway, I just really think that's super cool, and I I really enjoyed the food. So it just kind of again, it comes down to there's there's some great places, but that was one that I feel like it's a long time since we've been there. Yeah, the last time I was there was was Charles and I. Oh, and yeah, and we got we got sat right beside the aquarium. It was pretty cool. Oh, that's neat. All right, next category is your favorite quick service. Okay, this one people out there listening might think that this is really boring, but I don't care because it just really like it's a comfort food that means to me like, okay, this is a Disney lunch. And so usually quick service, I usually get lunch for quick service, probably. Well, I guess there's no usual, it's whatever it is. But I think my favorite quick service are the sandwiches at the beach club marketplace. And these sandwiches used to be over at the boardwalk bakery, but now things have been changed around. But at the Caprazi sandwiches, either getting a Caprazi sandwich and it's got focaccia bread, and there is really delicious, or a turkey and Swiss sandwich from the Beach Club Marketplace with a little side of chips and maybe getting like a brownie or something for dessert. You can get also some similar sandwiches at the Gasparilla Grill and the Grand Floridian as well. So I think those those might be my favorite quick service options. How about you? Yeah, I wouldn't have I wouldn't have thought of those. That's a good choice. I've talked about mine before. I this is one that like popped into my head when I thought, what's your favorite quick service? Actually, there were two that popped into my head, but I went with this one. And it's the polite pig over at Disney Springs. No, I've never been to the polite pig. Oh, it's very good. Very, very good. Yummy barbecue, and the food is really good. I don't know what else to say. We just have to go there. We have to go back to Disney just to go to the polite pig now. My goodness, like the list of places that, you know, if you ask somebody. The other problem is because things become like, oh, I really like this, I tend to go back to the same spots. So it's kind of like I need to spend a month there, I think, in order for me to drive some, you know, have some. Or we just have to go back every month. Let's go once. Oh, that's an option too. Just eat at all the places. Yeah. Then you don't feel like, well, we got to eat at the places we really like because we're only gonna come here once. Yeah, but when it comes to again, like people are probably like, sandwiches, that's so boring. But we always would, you know, on the last day of being at Disney, you go to these one of these places that have the sandwiches and you pack an extra so that the next day when you're back in reality and you're back at work and you pull out your lunch and it's one of the Disney sandwiches, and you're like, I'm still there. Yeah, I know. You're carrying the Disney Buzz with you. Yeah, and you keep going. Well, next time we go, we'll definitely go to the polite pig. They just have really delicious barbecue. The brisket is amazing. I think I've talked to you before about the trio of sliders that I got there. It was just delicious.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
JennyYeah, anyways. How about what is your favorite snack? My favorite snack is the popcorn. Oh, getting a popcorn bucket? I love the popcorn. It's so tasty and it's just an easy and like so cheap too. Like if you get the popcorn bucket, now I know that's gonna cost you like 14 bucks or something to get the bucket, but once you have it, you can refill it for $2.25. Unless that's gone up lately. That's what it was in December. $2.25, and you just fill it and fill it. We just like snack away on popcorn. It's a great little, you know, I don't want to say a filler, but when you're really hungry, you just need something. And like when I was with Charlie and he's starting to get hangry, get a popcorn bucket and Bob's your uncle. We've talked about those hangry pains that can come on at any moment, and how you want to like deal with it quickly, so it doesn't yeah. Oh yeah, that's a great option. That the popcorn buckets. And then they have other popcorn buckets that are commemorative or I forget what they call them, but right, you know, there's like some fancy collectors. Collectors, yeah, the collector's one or something that is in a character of some kind, or I don't know. They're all so different and they cost a little more. But I didn't need the fancy schmancy popcorn bucket, just the regular one. And then of course you can just buy the popcorn in a cardboard container that you could just recycle afterwards, but you don't get the refilling option if you do that. It's cheaper to just buy that popcorn like on a one-off. But if you think you're gonna, you know, want snacks, it's and you kind of have to carry the popcorn bucket around with you, but I always have it just attached to my lounge fly or my backpack or something. Okay, I have a question about that though. So if you buy the refillable bucket, could you keep it and then bring it back with you on a future trip and still oh, is that you're not supposed to do that? I don't think so. But could you? I'm not saying I've done that. Okay, and I'm not saying that was a great idea if you did. Okay. That's interesting. Even if you only go once in your life and you get the popcorn bucket and you fill it up a bunch of times. If you're there for multiple days, yeah. Uh one thing I want to say about the popcorn though is that the Magic Kingdom is awesome. There's popcorn everywhere, you can refill your bucket all over the place. If like there's plenty of places. Right. When you go into the other parks, it's not easy to find places to refill your popcorn bucket. Okay. Interesting. At the animal kingdom, I don't think it's worth carrying your popcorn bucket over there because they sell all of their popcorn in these boxes that are like closed. I'm not sure. I guess you know, they also don't want you to feed it to the animals and stuff. So that makes sense. Yeah. That's fair. That's fair. Okay. Okay, what's your favorite snack? Okay, well, it was a bit of a toss-up, and actually, it's I'm no pun intended because it was a toss of a coin on this one, because my favorite snack are the chocolate coins. I love them. And you actually like the chocolate coins? Well, and here's why I like them. I'm very sentimental, very nostalgic. And again, it's kind of like when I said the sandwiches. Although I do think the sandwiches are delicious, they're really good sandwiches, especially when you just want like a regular kind of anyway. What I like about the chocolate coins is the chocolate itself isn't, would not be like my top chocolate in the world. But first of all, I'm a chocolate fanatic. Chocolate to me is a vitamin. And so it's, you know, I need to have a daily dose of chocolate, even if it's not the best quality. But I just love there's something about peeling off like the little coin foil wrapping, and you know, with the Mickey on it, or the goofy or the Donald or whatever. But the thing is, it's it's always my souvenir. So I would bring home some chocolate coins, and uh if I get, you know, you're at the Orlando airport and they have the Disney store there. If I didn't get them in the parks, then I might get them at the Orlando airport and I throw them in because again, it's one of those things I can take home. And when I'm in reality and it's, you know, you're working and you just want escapism of having a Disney moment, I get out those chocolate coins and it kind of takes me back, just one coin at a time. So it's kind of like it's a snack, but it's more of a souvenir. Did you know it's really nice that we can bring Disney home with us and get a little buzz from a chocolate coin? Did you know that they don't sell them all the time? Uh yeah, I guess I did know because one of the last times we were there, we searched high and low for those chocolate coins and couldn't find them anywhere. Anywhere. They just didn't have them, and then I went back another time and there they were. Yes, thank you. And that was one of my Christmas presents. Or was it a birthday present? I forget. I forgot. But anyway, it's a gift you gave it to me, and I was very thankful for it. But yeah, because quite honestly, I find that I don't snack that much at Disney. Well, maybe the odd, you know, pop a popcorn in my mouth because you to get the hangry pains, but uh because we're going, we usually like have a quick service and then maybe a sit-down meal at some point in the day. And so we've had enough food, you know, you get anyway. So yeah Yeah, I've taken this isn't favorite snack that Disney provides, but I've taken little packages of trail mix and stuff packed my bag with some little snacks like that for hungry people, too. But anyways, we digress. So our next category is your favorite character meal. Oh okay. Well, for character meals, I don't think we've gone to a character meal except for at breakfast time. Yes, we are gonna be. Is that true? Where have we gone? The princess one at the Ho Norway pavilion. Alright. I gotta say, I forgot about it. I remember that we went there. I just forgot that it was a character meal. I think I was so just looking at the food. Okay. It was all princesses, and the kids were really little. Yes. Probably our first trip with the whole family. Yeah. Yeah. We've also been to breakfast at the Cape May Cafe. No, no, I know, but I I said like we've been to the only character meals have been at breakfast time. Oh, yeah, that's how I started that. No, no, I know we've done a a bunch of different characters. We've been to so we've gone to Norway, we've been to Cape May Cafe, we've done February. My favorite drum rule is and um is at the Crystal Palace at the Magic Kingdom. Oh, I forgot about that one. That's my favorite. Why is it your favorite? Okay, so the characters are Winnie the Pooh and Friends. So Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore, I think, are the friends that show up with Winnie the Pooh. And sure, I love Winnie the Pooh. I love all the characters. So some people might not choose it because it's not like the big five, like with Mickey and Minnie, etc. But what I love about the Crystal Palace is just the building itself. It I find it so beautiful. It's so bright and airy because it's it's styled after like a Victorian, would you call it a conservatory? I don't know, like a greenhouse. Conservatory. Everything is so light and bright with windows, and I just I really like the decor. And so because of that, it just feels, it just like feels magical. And so, you know, and it's a we've only like I said, we've mostly, I guess I forgot about the other one, the dinner one we went to, but we mostly go to the breakfast buffets, character meals, and you know, the breakfast buffets I find are all pretty similar. They all have your you know, scrambled eggs and bacon and Mickey waffles. They've got the pain au chocolat, which is one of my favorites, and lots of fruit. So like the food itself is is good, but it's not I don't love it because of the food. I just love it because of the ambiance, it's just so beautiful. So, how about you? What's your favorite? I think my favorite is Chef Mickey's classic. It's classic, yeah. And you get the the big five characters Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto. It's one of only a couple of places where you get those five characters. I think Topolino's Terrace is another one, potentially, which is a place I would like to try because I hear it's really good. And I did look at it for one time we were going a c a couple of years ago and it just kinda looked expensive. I don't know. I just decided let's go with what we know because yeah. Uh but I really do like Chef Mickeys for the characters that you get. I think the food is great. I don't care what anybody says. I think you have a lot of variety. There's lots of protein. It's all very tasty. Got your Mickey waffles. There's all a lot of choice. And it's really fun when the characters come around. It is high energy. I like to do that one for breakfast. Fill up and get your energy pump going. Then go hit the parks. But it's like I think they do the characters for dinner as well at Chef Mickey's. And I'm I think that'd be too much energy for me. And they're too close to going to bed on a full stomach. Because I know they say all you care to enjoy, but I have trouble, like I always go pat a little bit past the how much I can enjoy, and I'm going out of there like groaning. Like because the food is good. And it's like, oh, I just want one more chocolate koisa or one more slice of watermelon. I mean, but still. It's just uh waffer thin, one more mint.
SPEAKER_00Um don't.
JennyIf you, you know, I've here's a little tip I have for people doing the all you care to enjoy meals is do them as early if it's a dinner, especially, like have an early dinner. Yeah. Have it at 4 30 or 5 o'clock. Early birds special. Eat all you care to enjoy, and then you have some time to digest that before you go to bed and feel crappy. Sleeping with a belly busted gut. Good idea. Uh huh. Okay, well, now I think we need to wash all this food down with something. So last category. Right. Favorite place to have cocktails. Where's your favorite place to have a cocktail? Well, this will come as no surprise to you. But my favorite place is Trader Sam's. Oh, yeah. At the Polynesian. So much fun. And I had to think about it for a second because I have now been to the Beacon Barrel and been to some other great places like Geo82, and I've been to the lounges on the monorail. But I still pick Trader Sam's for a few reasons. One is the ambiance. Number one, like it's like you're going into a speakeasy. It's all closed in. It's like almost like there's a secret knock at the door. There isn't. It's just there are no windows. I think there's an outdoor area, but I would rather be on the inside because the place comes alive. The room actually comes alive with the drinks that people order. And so it depends on what the per a person has ordered. The bartender gets the order and then hits a button behind the bar, and something will happen in the room. And I don't want to give it all away. No secrets. I know, but it's just so much fun. It's so interactive. Like when somebody at another table orders something, there's something that sometimes the other people in the room have to do. And so I just have to say, my favorite drink there is the uh-oh. I think it's a drink for two people, but I've had it by myself. Uh-oh. The whole whole bar will start going, uh-oh, uh-oh, uh-oh. Oh uh uh, and chanting and banging on the tables, and it's just so fun. Meanwhile, the room is coming alive and someone's spraying you with water and like volcanoes going off. Who knows? Anyway, super fun. I can't do much, it's just that it's very interactive. Yes, and if you want to take your kids, you can go before 8 30. And after 8 30, it's over 21. And I think that recently they've opened it up a bit earlier. They didn't used to open Trader Sam's until 3 o'clock in the afternoon. So from 3 till 8 30, you could go with kids, and then it's open from 8 30 till midnight, I think, for over 21 only. But you also couldn't reserve it. It was a first come, first serve, and you would show up and get on a wait list. Sometimes it would be a four-hour long wait list, but they've recently opened it up to open at 11 in the morning, I think, just to like let more people in, I guess. To give more people the chance of getting in. Well, that was and also depends on the time of year, like busy times of year versus non. Your chances may be worse or better or whatever. Highly recommend Trader Sam's. Love, love, love it. I can't wait to go back there. What's your favorite place for cocktails, Emily? Okay, well, I have to give a special nod to Ogas Cantina because that place is super duper cool, especially if you're a Star Wars fan. However, that is my close second. I think my favorite place for the cocktail. This time, instead of going on theming, I'm actually going on the taste. My favorite is the Enchanted Rose at the Grand Floridian. And because I really enjoyed one of their signature cocktails, which is called the London Fog, it's a martini, and it was delicious. So I think for me that I picked that because we went to celebrate my birthday one time, and when we first arrived, we got there, I don't know, was it nine o'clock at night or eight o'clock at night or something? And that was our first stop basically was to go to the Enchanted Rose, and we all got a drink. And you're sitting in these sophisticated lounge settees, and we are having our martini. And then meanwhile, we just timed it perfectly out the windows. You can see the castle, Cinderella's castle over at the Magic Kingdom, and the fireworks were going off, so we could see from the comforts of the the settes, the the fireworks show. So that was pretty cool. So I think that's why I picked that. But I if you ask me again in a you know another couple times, I might change that. Yeah, that's a good choice too. There's so many good choices. This is the problem with trying to choose a favorite. There are so many. It's like your kids, you can't pick a favorite. Wow. How do you? You just have to keep going back and trying them all. One thing I want to say about Trader Sam's though, versus Ogus Cantina or the Beacon Barrel. But Beacon Barrel and Ogus Cantina, you can make reservations for, and uh it's recommended too because you won't get in. You probably won't get in without a reservation. Uh August Cantina maybe as a we went as a walk-up. Well, if you walk up at 10 o'clock in the morning like we did and have breakfast beverages, that's no problem. 12 o'clock somewhere. But they also both of those places have a two-drink limit. And not that I want to go and have more than two drinks anywhere, but it's a two-drink limit and a 45-minute limit. And the beacon barrel is so busy that they are literally hovering around your table when you're getting close to your 45-minute limit to get you out because there's a reservation coming in. Like they just have to keep the people moving. Whereas so far at Trader Sam's knock on wood, hopefully that doesn't change. I really like how I know it's difficult to get into sometimes, but it doesn't feel rushed. Like you can just sit and enjoy. I don't think I've had more than two drinks. No, I haven't had more than two drinks there. I don't need to. It's just nobody's hovering over you going, it's your turn to leave, you know. That's fair. That's fair. But at the same point, I haven't been to the beacon barrel, but at Oka's Cantina, like both times that we were there, I felt like, okay, you know, I was good to go. Like I didn't feel like I needed to stay longer than we were because I'd had the experience, I had the the food and cocktail, and we're at the park. So let's get going, let's, you know, let's get back to parking hopping and whatnot. So but the beacon barrel, the we got some food, I forget what it was, like some chips and dip kind of a thing, but it was actually really yummy. And there was a lot of it. And we had our first drink, and we still had lots of food. So we ordered a second drink, kind of washed the food down. The drinks were delicious, by the way. They were small and very expensive, but just it felt at the end, it felt really rushed because they were literally coming over to our table going, okay, you know, your time's up. Well, in the most polite Disney way possible. But we were really but at the same time, it just opened, so it's probably a little busier than perhaps it will be, maybe because you know, because people are just checking it out, so it might be well. Yeah, it's true. Well, I think I feel like my mind is full of food and maybe a cocktail or two. I think I need to go get a snack. I'm kind of hungry. It's time for a magic minute. Okay, well, my magic minute. I'm sticking with the theme of today, and I want to talk about one of the most iconic snacks you'll see people walking around the Disney parks with, and that is the giant smoked turkey leg. So, just a little background info. Apparently, these first showed up at Disneyland in the late 1980s. Disney was experimenting with these large handheld food that guests could eat just by walking around without plates or cutlery or things like that. And so this idea was actually inspired by the overside turkey legs that you would see at Renaissance fairs. That if you went to a Renaissance fair, you wouldn't, you might see something similar. So it does look like a medieval feast, but also they were very showy and obvious and tasty. So people, you know, are great for a photo shoot even before social media. They are still incredibly popular, but over the years, they've actually sparked some pretty funny rumors because they're so huge. People wonder, are they really turkey meat at all? And so there have been rumors that they were emu or ostrich legs instead. And I even saw a report that they were elk legs. Well, again, science nerd here. That's a completely different branch of the animal kingdom. So, anyhow, that all of those myths, they are in fact our turkey legs. So those myths have been debunked. And the thing is, they are just large turkey legs because they use male turkeys, the toms, and male turkeys are naturally larger. Each turkey leg apparently lays uh weighs between a pound or a 1.5 pounds, and they also are how they prepare them, they cure them in brine and smoke them before being served. And so that's why they kind of have a bit of a smoky ham flavor. So that's another reason why people thought they weren't turkey, but it's really just the way that they prepare them. Another part of it being controversial is that the nutrition of them. One leg, so one turkey leg serving has over a thousand calories, which is definitely enough for one meal. And also one turkey leg has over 5,000 milligrams of sodium. So it's maybe not the healthiest snack in the park, but quite honestly, our a lot of our favorite Disney snacks probably aren't the most healthy, but that's okay. We love them anyhow. So with this one, you know, maybe if you're getting a turkey leg, you might want to consider sharing it with friends and family. Or not. Totally up to you. You do you. So, anyhow, despite this debate of what kind of meat they are or whether they're healthy enough to eat or not, they are still very popular, hugely popular. In fact, there are t-shirts, turkey legged t-shirts, lots of them. And reportedly, Disney sells almost two million turkey legs every year between both Disneyland and Walt Disney World combined. That is a lot of turkey legs. So, love them or hate them, the giant turkey leg has definitely become one of the most recognizable savory snacks at the Disney Parks. I always called the turkey leg the spray on ham, but now I know it actually is a turkey leg. That's awesome. Yep, it's just how it's prepared. Okay, our magic minute is turning into a magic five minutes, and that is okay. Here's mine. The Hoop-de-Doo musical review opened in Pioneer Hall in Fort Wilderness at Walt Disney World on June 14th, 1974. It's one of the longest-running dinner shows in the United States history. But did you know that the Hoop-de-Doo Musical Review takes place in Pioneer Hall, which was built with 1,283 hand-fitted western white pine logs from Montana, 70 tons of rare ebony stone for the pillars from North Carolina, and it was modeled after a Northwest Territory Lodge from the late 1800s. When it officially opened on April 1st, 1974, it was called the Fort Wilderness Dining Hall. It was intended to be used as a dining venue for breakfast and lunch. And then at night there would be animal lectures and demonstrations from using animals that were brought from the Discovery Island, which was nearby. That was Disney's original intention for it. He wanted it to be an educational place. I love it. Guests would also be able to play games. Sometimes they'd get to partake in some musical talent like a washboard band. There was a huge screen. It would show some true to life adventures documentary films that were made by the Disney studio in the 1950s and 1960s. But it didn't it didn't fly. And so it became this place, it was going to be shut down, but they started up this musical theater program for college students, and it was meant to be a summer job. And so they hired a bunch of college students to do this musical theater thing for a summer job for 11 weeks, and it just was a smash hit. And so they just kept it going, and it has been going for over 50 years. And that's my magic minute. Okay, folks, that's it for this episode of Rope Drop and Run.
