SPEAKER_00And I'm Tiffany.
SPEAKER_01And we are the traditional Catholic couple.
SPEAKER_00In today's episode, we're going to be discussing how in today's society we keep repeating the same mistakes as conscious power.
SPEAKER_01Yep. So on this talk, we're going to talk about the Catholic perspective and pious action with the crucifixion of Lord Jesus Christ and how that specific moment in history keeps repeating itself today. Exactly the same. So we have a bunch of bullet points that we're gonna go through it. I'm gonna read through every single one and then we can get into a discussion on it. The first one would be the knowing the right thing to do but not doing it. What are we referring into this? You know, it's so much to cover in that specific one right from the beginning, going to um heavy hitters. Um the searching for the true, I would say, right? What is the true? Are we searching for the truth or um we literally just making on truth on this? I would say that's that's sort of a fall down. Um obviously on these uh points of Pilate knew the truth. He knew uh Jesus Christ was innocent, but he still went forward and contained him. And that would be as the that's the basic how we're gonna start is is that right? Um how often do we do saying uh how often do we go in and um we gotta the opportunity to forget someone and instead of forget someone we hold grudges? Uh we have the opportunity to always tell the truth, but we're willing to compromise or we're willing to bend the truth to make our own truth. Um how many things uh times um we need to follow God and do his will, but instead we choose to live a comfort life. Right? Um Yeah on this bullet point they they bring point pretty much what the true is not the problem, it's courage. How often do we do that if we bend the truth? You wanna add something into this?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so it talks about how Pontius Pilate just chose not to do the right thing, and that's exactly how what uh St. Paul says in Romans 7, 15, and 19. You know, it's always we know what's right, we always do the wrong thing, and then we know what's wrong, but then that's exactly what we choose to do. And it it also reminds me of converts who are converting to the Catholic faith, how in the very beginning, you know, they're learning about the different sins and what their tr their contrition needs to look like, but then they keep on reverting to their old ways. You know, it's not gonna be completely perfect, but now you have that discernment of what's right and wrong because they keep on going back to their old ways, even though they know what they need to do.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. That that comes from also for me, I would say is the will, doing the will of the Father. You know, we constantly, at least myself, I always ask him to say, Lord, let me do your will, not my will. And that's a daily battle. That's something that we have to go in and fight every single day. Because I understand that when we do our will, we're crucifying Christ again. You know, one way or another, we are not doing the same thing. We we're willing to compromise our sins, we're going to able to compromise our life and stay and how we live and what we do for work, everything. You know, we're just willing to compromise our faith. So we constantly have to be asking our Lord and be like, Lord, help me, teach me how to do your will and on my will. It's something that I often I often go with it in in asking him to help me on that. Give me the graces and virtues necessary to do his will and on my will. To keep persevering, I ask our lady to keep persevering on my faith until the day I die. Um Yeah, I I agree with what you said. On the second bullet point is uh giving into pressure, right? Um and on that I imagine points with Pilate, right? And they that's what he did. He pretty much gave up into the pressure of the the people screaming and in the courtyard, telling him to crucify and kill him. He knew it was wrong, he knew Christ was innocent. You know, even talking to his wife, the wife told him right, said, Hey, you know what? He's innocent. I saw it on a dream, don't don't crucify him, don't kill this man, this man is innocent. Things are gonna go s wrong in our life. You know, we sh we you you he's innocent, don't do don't do any harm to him. You know, same thing. I see that as our own reflection on on a family life. Sometimes the men have so much uh ego, so much um pride that we don't listen to our wives. Sometimes we we can see it, we're blind by the sin or we're blind by our own uh sense and and and ego. They we don't see them, we're making a mistake, and maybe the wife is coming to us and be like, hey, you know what? You might want to uh stop and and think twice or not take that decision or don't go there or don't do this. And we just ignore it. We just go forward and do it. So I've been in that situation multiple times and it doesn't end up well. You know, I even I even joked with one of the priests uh that helped us with spiritual direction. Uh he he he joked with me one time and said you should listen for your wife because we would have those conversations and be like, Yep, I see it, I understand. I'm guilty. Um so so yeah, yeah, it's it's right on point, right? Giving into pressure today society is it's we can see it this right, it's uh social approval can go into so many examples like social approval, the fear of rejection and uh the desire to fit in. This is this is big in especially young young people. It's that like they they need to be able to fit into a world that doesn't have God. It's anything besides God. So it thinks so that go deep, it runs deep.
SPEAKER_00What else you can elaborate into is that you see what I see is if your peers are the ones that are causing you to sin, then that's a sign for you to actually distance yourself from them, whether it's co-workers or family or friends, it's you know, distance yourself from co-workers, start spending your time alone at lunch, not talking to them as much. When it comes to friends, start surrounding yourself with others who are who are higher in their Catholic faith, who have higher convictions. Same thing with family, you might have family members who don't share the same convictions as you. So that's when you just start distancing yourself, so you're able to remain on the same path, or the person that you're dating, you know, the person who you're dating uh will eventually become your husband, your spouse. So then that's the time to have a better discernment to see, you know, maybe this isn't the person for you if they're causing you to go down the right path or the wrong path. Same thing, it could be also your husbands, and that's when you're gonna have to step in step up in prayer. You know, they might not be acting active and going to church, you know, so they could be causing you to sin, right? So then that's when you continue to pray in for your spouse, and um yeah, just always go the opposite path that you see non-believers going in.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, for sure. That's true too. You say something very important, and it's prayer, prayer, prayer, right? Without prayer, we're we're there. That is something that we have to be doing constantly, right? Uh husband and a wife, my duty is pray for my wife to go to heaven, pray for my children to go to heaven, and actively doing it, but actually taking action to do that, right? The one stepping into my play and taking it to go to confession. You know, whatever habit we're creating, right? We do it as a family, we do it every week every week. So the one actually respecting that, do I creating that structure that I always consistent to go on that and communicating with my wife and telling her, hey, you know what, we have to go to confession, we gotta get it done. Though and driving them there, the one doing everything that I gotta do to make that happen. So that's a that's a a clear bullet program that that's something that it doesn't happen to A. The men at home doesn't lead, doesn't do anything like that. They're just comfortable sitting on their booty, doing anything else besides leading their family to Sangho, right? They're more worried about the Sunday, Sunday football game or the NBA basketball finals. They I gotta do a you know what I gotta leave my family in the Rosary tonight, or I gotta do something, I gotta do a prayer tonight to for my family, or or I gotta, you know, uh go to one hour adoration for my to sacrifice for my family and get all this done. Um yeah, the the modern man doesn't do anything like that. It's like a disconnection from God completely. Right. Third bullet point that I want to go into it is the me misusing uh responsibilities. Pilate have authority and he has the power to stop injustice, but he used his powers to protect himself. So on our life, authority might look like leadership in the family, influence at work, responsibility over others, and often we avoid doing the right thing because it costs us something. This bullet point is right on point too. You know, it's uh I will say that it's one word that I learned it uh and it's justification. Yeah, justify. How many times we justify? Oh you know what? My job doesn't lead me to Christ, it doesn't have Christ in the middle. So um I'm willing to compromise to have that job because the money they pay good, they but I don't care if they attack the Christianity of their faith. I don't care that they don't want to know anything besides God because I'm willing to compromise for money. I'm willing to compromise being apart from my family all the time. I'm willing to compromise to not being an active participant of my church because I gotta be at work, right? That wor doesn't allow me to have anything related with God. So I'm willing to compromise that. So that's that's something that we see it so often through a generation, right? Um they're more worried about making money, having retirement plans, having a good nice home, having a car of the year, or specific brand or vehicle. They having how am I how is my the stable the soul of my family? How every single of their soul is gonna go to heaven or they're gonna go to s to hell and not be able to go to salvation, nor be able to find Christ. But you can elaborate on that.
SPEAKER_00A lot of times or how they misuse authority. I I think too, right? You know, if husbands aren't leading correctly, you know, they could be misusing that or their authority, even their own children, right? And not really taking that seriously versus using it in a way to not lead their children to sainthood. Or same thing with their wives, you know. Or just you know, making a decision that is not driven or that it's not Christ-centered.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah, you're right, especially on that. This is so true, right? On the family. You will see it, is is dad not being a dad, a father. They want to be their best friends, right? They don't understand that. I don't understand their roles. Um and a wife the same thing. She wanna be best friends with their children, and that's not what they're called. Right? They need to be the matriarch at home. And the the men need to be a man at home, they need to be a leader. So yeah. I agree. So important on the family, right? Understanding that the rules that we have on the family. Uh the other bullet point that we have is say pretend that we're not responsible. Oh boy. Pilate watches his hand and says, I'm innocent. I am innocent. But watching their hands doesn't change anything at that specific moment. You know, Christ was crucified. And today's day you see it now. People they don't want the responsibility of their own actions, right? Personal and in family as a family, as a family member, as a dad, as a husband, as a friend. They don't take the responsibility of anything, right? This is not my fault. They want to go in and blame everybody else besides them taking that responsibility and be like, oh, you know what? This is my fault. Um, or they're just willing to sacrifice, or instead of sacrifice, they're willing to uh compromise. I find that that's a little bit of work. They are willing to compromise to to say, well, I don't have a choice, so I have to you know do this or I stay silent. Or somebody attacked the Catholic faith and the public, they go to watch a movie or something, and they are on public, somebody attacked the faith and they just literally stay quiet. Instead to come forward and be like, I have to defend my faith. I have to defend Christ, I have to defend what I believe. So same thing, it's it's what we're doing, right? On that on that department. What else you can add on that department?
SPEAKER_00It's it's same thing what you were saying. When you're in silent, you're just as guilty. Yeah. Because you're not doing something that you should be doing.
SPEAKER_01Correct. Yeah. 100%. Choosing comfort over true. Pilot choose political safety over justice. A modern man chooses comfort over sacrifice, convenience over conviction, silence over truth. But the truth always demands something from us. It's true. You know, we see it today, today. I think so Jesse talks about this a lot. Um the Liberal Cristo method, right? They talk about that. Right. Um Dr. Dan Snyder and Kyle Clements also talk about that. They said the men to age generation is very soft. It's a sign to to mimic a woman, it's not a man. Um so yeah, they're they everybody in to a generation too, not just men and women, they run from sacrifice. They run from um suffering, a little suffering. They don't want to have no suffering at all. They want that, you know, sweet and and prosperity gospel, they that a lot of a lot of people uh promote, right? The shouldn't be no pain or suffering or anything. Instead, it's the totally opposite. That's just the opportunity. We have so many opportunities to offer up that pain, offer up the sacrifice, and unite yourself with Christ. What else you can find into that.
SPEAKER_00So this um really reminds me of our own convictions, right? So a lot of us say, oh, you know, we're pro-life, but are we speaking about it or we just say silent when people talk about abortions? You know, if they're what are we actively doing? Like where are we using our voice in that direction? Are we just say silent when people are talking about legalizing or you know, killing the fetus and things like that? No, maybe this is like your call to actually join apostolate that is pro-life and they're actually doing things, or they're actually going out in these front of these c clinics and saying the rosary, or they're sharing their their faith with others who are contemplating abortion. So it's also being proactive in that movement too. It's like, okay, well, and the same thing, we see the different crises when it comes to the homeless and the poor. So are we doing anything? Are we going to our lawmakers and a rally and really defending that? Are we going out there and feeding them? You know, it's not just you know, seeing the problem, but it's actually using the voice. Correct. Or even sharing our faith, right? Or we hear a lot of pro LGBT, but then are we standing up for our own Catholic faith? Or are we not saying that we're Catholic because people already know um everything that goes against what they believe?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah. Well, back to the same thing that we were mentioning before, it was compromising, right? Um, but this is so true. You know, silence over the truth. Um you're guilty at that moment, too. So you can, you gotta speak up, you gotta say something. You gotta ask. 100% you're right. And it's follow bullet point to say the deeper Catholic truth. What the Catholic Church teaches in the Catholicism. Well, that's pretty straightforward. You know, it teaches the killing of our Lord Jesus Christ, the suffering that we went through, it was not caused by Poncho Spinning, it was not caused by you know specific people at that specific time. It was caused by the sins of the entire world. It was the heaviness of the sin. You know, Christ, it was how everything that went wrong from the creation of the man, Adam and Eve, from the very first moment that we introduce the deadly sin into our life until the moment that Christ died at the cross. So that's that's the most important part, is that is the the the why we kill our Lord and we keep killing our Lord today, we keep crucifying is because sin. It's not Pilot saying at that moment that he was the one killing the Lord. You know, today generation in every single day, that's what we as approaching is is my sense, my wife's saying. our children's sins, the church, everybody, what everybody is doing to to crucify our Lord again. Right? And that's that's the reality. It's all sins what is getting our Lord crucified again. Every time we ignored the truth, every time that we give up into pressure, every time that we avoid our responsibilities in our domestic church or in our own personal life, in our jobs and everything. Every time that we choose confort over the right thing over doing the right thing, we keep doing the same thing we can crucify in our Lord. Right? So what we need to do proactively to not be a as a as a pilot crucifying our Lord. That's the question that we need to bring to ourselves every single day. It's kind of like man I don't want to be as like pilot the crucifier Lord. I don't want to roam from my cross I don't want to roam from suffering. Teach me Lord how how to be with you at the at the foot of the cross teach me how to be there. Teach me how to be like my Mama Mary as our lady also how to give you graces and virtues to be to be to be company here every single day at the foot of the cross and stand perfectly and stand perfectly at the foot of the cross.
SPEAKER_00What reflection you can do on that I like what you had said earlier is that when given the opportunity like Pontius Pilate had would we go with truth or would we crucify Jesus again? Every time we sin, we're crucifying him again and again. Again and again so is that at least for us it's it's changing that right it's change chain sold or sinful ways and don't be as as Pilate but we ask for those graces for those virtues especially to our lady you know I I want to leave that that crucifixion with him not being present crucifying him I want to be walking with him carrying my cross and dying with him so on the Sunday we can we can have a a resurrection with him he can resurrect us with him and take us to heaven so that's that's my main reflection I would say that that's where I will close this talk this reflection today this podcast um not not be as pilot pretty much the just remember that what we'll do we will do when we're facing the truth right well are we gonna compromise are we gonna walk away from it are we gonna stay silenced are we gonna ignore it or are we gonna be at the foot of the cross carrying our cross also dying with Christ and trusting him entirely right so we want to thank you every single one of you guys that give us the opportunity to share this this reflection on Pilate and I say you want to support us become a support in our patron help us to bring the message of the gospel bring our Lord to every single family share our Catholic faith share our prayers with us too you know give us pray for us to help us to persevere and to keep going and to be one with Christ like and subscribe if you uh like our content and leave us any comments below and if you have any topics that you would like to address also leave us in the comments.
