Afzal's Reset Entropy Podcast
The Real Reason Your Business Hit a Ceiling (It's Not Your Strategy)
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
When growth stalls, the instinct is to change strategy. New offer, new funnel, new tactic. And often it does not work. In this episode, Afzal Patni breaks down why business plateaus are rarely strategy problems, how the pattern running underneath your decisions sets an invisible ceiling, and what an actual revamp requires.

Anyone who has trained in a gym knows the plateau. You show up, you lift, you do everything right, and at some point your body just stops responding. The growth stalls. And no matter how hard you push the same routine, nothing moves. Why? Because we know even when we try to make it a little heavier, lift a bit harder, it just body just adapts at that point. The reason is simple, is that adapted body it learned the routine so well that it no longer needs to grow to handle it. The only way through is to change the stimulus completely. New exercises, new forms, something the body has not already mastered. Shock theory is one of it. Changing it to hit moment, something unique, something different. Today I want to talk about how this exact thing happens in business because almost every entrepreneur hits a plateau, and almost every entrepreneur responds to it the same way by changing strategy, and a lot of time that does not work out. I want to explain why and what actually does. When growth stalls, the instinct is obvious. Change the strategy, new offer, new funnel, new marketing channel, new pricing, new tactic, and sometimes that works. If the strategy was genuinely the problem, a better strategy fixes it. Simple as that. Then they change strategy again. Same thing, brief moment, same ceiling. If you keep hitting the same ceiling with different strategies, the ceiling is not the strategy. Something else is setting that height. And here is the analogy with the gym. Imagine someone's plateau, and their response to this is do the same exercise but with slightly different color dumbbells, maybe slightly little higher uh rep, little higher weight, little more pushing it harder, quicker. That is not a real change. We are talking about it. Body knows that you're pushing the same thing, it's just little more variation of there. A lot of strategy changes in the business are exactly this: they look different on the surface, new funnel, new offer. But underneath the entrepreneur is operating from the same exact pattern, the same belief about what is possible, the same fears driving the same decisions, the same way of showing up, pricing, selling, leading. You changed the way you did that exercise a bit. You did not change the stimulus associated to it, so you hit the same ceiling. So, what is setting the ceiling if not strategy? The pattern running underneath your decision, patterns which are consistent, patterns in terms of decision making, patterns in terms of your emotional response to stuff, patterns in terms of why this why the disbelief exists for a particular thing pre-handedly, and if it exists also, are you doing anything to break it? Are you if you know this thing operates as this way only and this is stuck in your mind? Are you ready to retry it once again to let go of that limiting belief? Let me make this concrete. Say an entrepreneur has a quiet belief formed a long ago that making too much money will change them or make them a target or separate them from people they love, they would get the ego in place, they would never say this out loud on all of this power points, but they might not even know they believe it, but it's running. If there was an issue during the household in their in their childhood, the parents used to fight over money, money will become a big factor in an upcoming life decision of this, and money will be felt in subconscious mind as a negative connotation. Now, watch what happens every time they approach the income level that triggers that belief. Something happens, they get distracted, they launch a new project, they split their focus, they underchange on a big deal, uh, they wouldn't connect to the client, they know if they would get they can get uh good payment from they self-sabotage a key relationship not consciously. The pattern simply protects the belief by keeping them under the ceiling. You can give that person the best strategy in the world. Imagine a trial and tested funnel which have 15-20% of client closing rate, they will still not be having that same result. Trial and tested one I'm saying, they will hit the same ceiling, whatever number they are changing because the strategy was never the constraint over here, the belief was, and the belief sets the height regardless of tactics. This is true across so many plateaus. The entrepreneurs who cannot scale because being indispensable is their identity, so they'll micromanage each and everything because they don't trust their staff, they don't want to be the one who can be easily removed, so they want to be part of everything. We talked about that on last podcast. The one who cannot raise prices because deep down they do not believe they are worth it, the one who cannot delegate, cannot sell, cannot be visible, each one held by a pattern, not a strategy gap. Someone who believes they are bad at sales and keeping that in mind during a sales call. That was one of me. I still still have I don't like the phase of sales to be honest. But the thing is, I took it in the negative manner, it was in my head, and sales was never that. Sales was altogether different thing, it was much more about helping clients actually get what they want. If you have it, you have it, if you don't have it, you don't have it. The plateau is the pattern becoming visible, it is the point where the current way of operating has reached its natural limit, and no strategic change will move it because the strategy was never what was holding it. So, what is actually fixed? What is the fix of this? Going back to the gym, a real revamp is not a different dumbbell color, different way of pushing the weight, different uh a bit of higher, no, not of that. It is genuinely new stimulus, new moments. The body has not adapted to a completely change in how you're training hit exercises, the involvement of yoga in it a bit, involving of a little running, not only weightlifting. That overall perspective will alter how you're responding to the new exercises. Now, in business, the equivalent revamp is not the strategy level, it is at the level underneath it, the way you think, the way you operate, the belief, fears quietly shaping every decision, the limiting beliefs, especially. And here is what that looks like in the practice. First, recognize the plateau as information, not failure information. The ceiling is showing you exactly where your current pattern reaches its limit, that is valuable. It is pointing directly at the thing that needs to change. Second, look at what is consistent across your attempts. If you keep hitting the same wall with different strategies, ask what stayed the same, not in tactics in you. How are you operating each time differently? How are you believing about what was possible? What fear was present at the ceiling each time? That consistency is the pattern itself. Simple to figure out if you think about it, and third, go to the root of that pattern because just identifying that pattern is not enough. Where did that believe form? What is it protecting? Keep asking questions on that main question repeatedly, and you will follow and fall through and find exactly the root underneath it. Because these beliefs are not random, they are installed usually long ago for a reason that made sense at the time, and when you understand them at the route, when you see clearly that the beliefs setting your ceiling is not actually true, the ceiling stops being fixed, it becomes movable. That is the revamp that actually matters, not the funnel, not the offer, the operating system underneath them. Because you can change the software all you want. If the operating system caps the performance, the software cannot exceed it. Change the operating system, and suddenly the same strategies you tried before starts working because the thing that was capping them is gone. Something to sit with this week. Think about the ceiling you keep hitting, the level you cannot seem to get past, no matter what you try. Now stop thinking about the strategies you have tried and instead ask what has stayed the same about me at each attempt. What do I believe about what is possible when I reach that level? What shows up? Fear, distraction, self-sabotage. Right at the ceiling. That is where your real answer is. Not in the next strategy, in the pattern that has been setting the height all along. If you want to find and change that specific pattern, setting your ceiling, that is exactly what the conversation after the free video is built for. Link is in the bio of the free video.
