Hello everyone and welcome to the Faithfully Her podcast. It's Joy, and today this episode is titled She's Resolved about what the word resolve means and how we can apply it to our lives. But first, I have an announcement. Starting next week, we are going to do a chapter in Proverbs walkthrough on the first week of every month. So the first one will be next week. The next one will be the first week in May, and so on. So we will read a chapter and then talk about what we learned and things like that. But first, let's do our highs and lows before we do our game. So my high was that I got a couple things I needed for my mission trip that I'm going on April 7th. And I'm sorry I didn't tell you guys about this sooner. It's gonna be April 7th, we're gonna be gone for 10 days, and um uh we're gonna go to Guatemala and assist some missionaries there. It's gonna be so fun. I'm super excited. My first mission trip, first time out of the country. I got like a crossbody bag foundation and a water bottle that I needed. And my low is that I'm on spring break right now, and the reason why this episode is so late is because um I recorded it Wednesday night, but I forgot to tell my dad because he helps me upload them, and so it came out late, and then I tried to do it on Thursday in my closet on an iPhone, and then we left on a like night getaway. So that's why it's on a Saturday. So I needed to make sure there was one this week though. So um now we can do our game. Um I guess it's not really like a game game, but I'm gonna tell you guys five random and very, very weird facts that you probably didn't know about me. So number one, I'm allergic to any type of nut and peanut butter. Number two, I have asthma and I need to take this little stinking inhaler every morning. And number three, I refuse to cough and sneeze or get a tissue in class at school and church, so I've already used up all my bathroom passes. And I broke my two or three year streak of not going to the bathroom to cough in church. So there you go. Number four, I was born in New York and lived there for five years. Then we moved to South Carolina, lived there for two years. Then we moved to North Carolina when my dad became a pastor and we lived there for two years as well. Now we live in Ohio and we have been here for about three years now. And number five, I was born on my due date 13 years ago. So my mom did that one. Okay, so now we can get into our lesson now. Okay, so resolved. What in the world does that word mean? The definition of resolved is firmly determined to do something or settled solved from the dictionary. Okay, so it means that you've decided that you are absolutely not going to do something no matter what. No matter how, you will not do that thing. Like, I'm resolved to not start drinking alcohol and smoke and vape and things like that. My school's theme this year is actually Daniel, about how to live with a lion-like character. Um, because you always hear about the story of how he was in the lion's den, um but you never really hear about what happens before that. So here's like a summary of his life and how it all leads up to Daniel 1 8, which says, But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with a portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank. Therefore he requested of the Prince of the Eunuchs that he might not defile himself. So when the verse says he purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself, it just means that he was resolved not to defile, which means eat the king's meat and the wine that he drank. And so here is that very short summary of his life before that point. So Daniel is a young Jewish man from Jerusalem who was taken to Babylon after his city was conquered by King Nebuchadnezzar. The king wanted smart, strong, young people to be trained in Babylonian language, culture, and service for his palace. So Daniel was chosen and placed under the care of a royal official in charge of these captives, the Prince of the Eunuchs, meaning the chief officer responsible for them. Daniel is being trained to serve in the king's court, but he is now in a foreign place where everything, food, lifestyle, and beliefs is different from what he grew up with, which is why he is determined to stay faithful to what he believes is right. Now, when it says it was different from what he was used to, I'm not saying that it's not okay to try new foods and stuff like that, but it's but if it's something that your parents have already decided that you are not going to do, and something that you have decided you're not gonna do, then you should not try or do that. Now, there are some things in our lives that our parents have decided that you and your family are not going to do. Like um some examples that my parents have decided that me and my siblings aren't gonna do until we grow up and are out of the house and we can make our own choices. Like if we go to a restaurant and it's like super, I guess I don't say barry, I don't even think that's a word, but if there's like a lot of people are drinking around us, we will usually try to go to a different restaurant or like uh we aren't gonna listen to most music that's not Christian. And that's awesome for families to have rules for their families, and I'm glad my family has rules like that, so I won't be tempted to do things I'm resolved not to do. And no, I'm not saying that my family's better than any other family at all. But you personally, yes, you need to have things you're resolved not to do. Things that not your family, not your friends that you have decided to do or not to do. Um, you will not do whatever you name it. A friend invites you to a party, no adults are gonna be there, and your parents need adults there. I'm sorry, I'm resolved not to do that. You don't have to say you're resolved not to, but um, if you start right now and you start setting boundaries for yourself, I can promise you you are gonna have an awesome life and walk with God. Well, I hope you enjoyed this episode. I don't know why, but this one might be one of my favorite episodes to do so far. I just love this topic. I don't know why. Um, and I'm sorry this one is kind of short. It's like six minutes, but yeah, five or six minutes. Um, but make sure to check out our Instagram page at Faithful Her Podcast, and I'll see you next week when we do our chapter of Proverbs walkthrough. Bye.
