Joy shares her testimony of how she got saved!

SPEAKER_00

Hello everyone and welcome to the Faithful Her podcast. It's Joy, and today our episode is all about my testimony. Um, when I got saved, who helped me get saved, what it felt like, and so on. But first, I just want to say that I know today was supposed to be a chapter of Proverbs walkthrough since it's the thirst first Thursday in um June, but I forgot. So it's gonna have to be next week. I'm sorry about that. But let's do a game really quick before we get started. So this is fast food trivia. I have 10 questions and I'll ask them and then give you a couple seconds to think of the answer, okay? So here we go. Number one, what restaurant chain's logo features a redhead red-haired girl with pigtails? That would be Wendy's. And then number two, what fast food chain is famous for the whopper? That would be a Burger Gang. What restaurant slogan is we have the meats? I just saw a commercial about this. It's Arby's. Number four, which fast food chain was founded by truet Kathy? I really don't know how to pronounce that. I'm pretty sure that's Chick-fil-A. Um, number five, which restaurant is known for the frosty? That'd be Wendy's. And then number six, what is the signature sauce at Raising Canes called? Pretty obvious, cane sauce. Number uh seven, which fast food chain uses the slogan think outside the bun? Pretty sure that's Taco Bell. Number eight, what sandwich made Popeyes famous during the chicken sandwich wars of 2019? Pretty obvious again, the Popeyes chicken sandwich. And then number nine, which chain is known for serving butter burgers and frozen custard? We actually got one of these close to my church not long ago. That's cool verse. It's really, really good. Also, and then number 10, what fast food chain's mascot is a star wearing sunglasses? That would be actually I have no idea. I think it's actually I don't know. I don't have the answer on here, so I guess it's a mystery. Um, then I hope you guys enjoyed that game, enjoyed that game. So now we can do our highs and lows. So my hype is that we got our pool open at our house. Um we have a pretty big in-ground pool, and it's really fun in the summer. And my love is that I lost the lid to my favorite chapstick. And I know that's very silly and dumb, but it's really all I could think of anyway. Um let's just do our lesson now. Okay, so how this is gonna work, I'm just going to try and tell you the whole story. So here we go. Um, so I think I was five years old, and I remember my dad was doing this thing where at night he would read a passage from the Bible and then we would just talk about it. And um he would do this thing um to me and my sister. Um, noel. So um, in my five-year-old mind, I remember that it was really, really boring, and I know it wasn't, but my little mind thought that. And all I really cared about was where I was gonna put my stuffed animal unicorn, okay? And I just remember one night my dad was reading, and I was sitting on the top bunk, and there was a gap between the wall and the bed. And my dad was reading about how Jesus died on the cross and that he loves us so much and that he died for us. Um and he was also explaining to us what heaven and hell were. And I remember looking down off the top bunk where there was a gap between the wall and the bed and seeing just darkness on the ground. And I couldn't even see the ground because it was so dark. And I remember as my dad was explaining hell, that I didn't I I thought, like, is that what hell's like? Is it dark like that? And I immediately knew that I did not want to go there. So I started asking my dad some questions about heaven and hell, and I could see the excitement in my dad's eyes that I was finally taking an interest in the Bible and what he was reading. And this was Saturday, March 31st, 2018, by the way. And I remember my dad saying that I he still echoes in my mind today. Do you have any more questions? His voice um and him saying that literally still echoes in my mind, those same words. And I went to bed that night scared because I didn't understand all of it, but I understood enough to know that I wanted to go to heaven when I died. So the next day was April 1st, 2018, and actually April Fool's Day, and it wasn't April Fool's, just so you know. Um, and that just so happened to be Easter Sunday, also. And I remember we were on our way to church that day for Sunday morning service, and we always listened to the same songs all the time. Um, and there was this one song that me and Noelle, my sister, sang at the top of our lungs, and it was just this one line, but I I don't know how I still remember it because I haven't heard the song since. But the line was, I won't go back, I can't go back to the way it used to be before your presence came and changed me. And it was right then and there that I knew I wanted to be changed too. And hearing the Easter story in my little Sunday school class finally made me realize I wanted to be saved and asked Jesus into my heart. So that night, after the night service, we were having our nightly Bible reading, and I was just asking my dad question after question after question. And then after all the questions, my dad said to me, Do you want to know how you can ask Jesus into your heart and go to heaven when you die? I remember I got a big smile on my face, and I said, Yes. So he took me to our living room couch, which we still have by the way. And he sat down next to me and we went through the whole salvation plan and how I can know I was going to heaven when I died. And we knelt down by the couch and he said what I needed to say, and I repeated after him, and I really did mean it in my heart, and that I really loved Jesus and I wanted to spend eternity with him in heaven. And my uncle was staying at our house that night, and he walked by the living room, and I shouted at the top of my lungs, I just got saved, and he said, Yay! And my mom was so happy, and I went to bed not scared that night because I knew what would happen to me if I died the next day, that I would be with Jesus, the one who saved me. And I would also just want to thank my mom for encouraging me to get saved, and my uncle for being there, and my dad for guiding me through it and helping me know that I would be with Jesus when I died, and I don't know what I do without all of you. But more importantly, my Savior who took all my sins on the cross to die for me, so that I could live with him for eternity in heaven. And also, um, my sister was three years younger than me, so she was about two or three. Um, but I just kept sharing the gospel with her so much, like I sort of remembered, well, I did remember what my dad said to me to repeat after, and I just kept saying it to Noelle, and like if she repeated it, then I thought she was saved, and she didn't understand it, but I just thought it was really cute that I was actually like trying to share the gospel. But that's all for this week. I hope you enjoyed this week's episode. Make sure to check out our Instagram page at Faithfully Her Podcast.
