Hello everyone and welcome to the Facebook Hair podcast. I hope you all had an awesome week. Today I am talking to you guys about what I learned about at Teen Camp last year. Actually, right now, when you guys listen to this, I will be at my last day of camp. So obviously, this episode is pre-recorded, but I hope my youth group is having a great time at camp. Um but first let's play a game. So this is um food trivia. So I have 10 questions and I'll ask them and then give you a few seconds to think of the answer. So here we go. Number one, what is the only food that never spoils? That would be honey. Number two, which fruit floats in water because it's about 25% air? I actually did not know this, but it's an apple. Um, next one, what popular cookie was first sold in 1912? That would be um Oreos. Number four, what candy was accidentally invent wait, what candy was originally invented to help people quit smoking? I could see how this would kind of be it's Pez. But number five, which snack food was accidentally invented when a chef got annoyed by a customer complaining about thick fries? That would be potato chips. Then number six, which fruits name means pine cone apple? Pine cone apple. I think that'd be pineapple. Number seven, what is the world's most stolen food? That's cheese. Number eight, what color carrots were most common before orange carrots became popular? Carrots became popular. I really want to believe this is true. It's uh purple. This part of me doesn't think it's true, but I think it is true. Number nine, which fruit can be square in shape when grown in special boxes? I know this is true because I saw it before. It's a watermelon. And then uh Yeah, that's it. Okay, so I hope you guys enjoyed that game. So now we can do our highs and lows. Well, I don't really know what my highs and lows are because this episode is pre-recorded, but here's what I hope my highs and lows are. I hope my high is that I got to take a really, really good nap on the way to camp on the crowded bus. And I hope my low is that I got put on a team by myself. Um, last year was actually my first year at teen camp, and I didn't really know anybody that well, but I didn't really know anybody in like the teen group that well either. And um I got put on a team by myself with all these random people I have never seen before in my life by myself. It was the worst. So I kind of want to prove to myself that I can do it again and get on a low. Well, I mean, make that my low and get on a team by myself, but it was not a fun experience. So um, but uh my high, I hope, yeah. Okay. So last year it was actually my first year, so I was technically too young to go, but I still went. Um, but the speaker was brother Mike Clark of Clark family, and his main message um all four nights was do what God's will for your life is. So one thing I learned at Camp last year was that God has a purpose for every single person. So the speaker talked a lot about doing God's will for your life and really just not living however you want to live. That really stuck with me because sometimes it's easy to think that we do what we do doesn't matter that much. But God created each of us for a reason. And he has something he wants us to do. He didn't just randomly place us where we are, he knew exactly when we when we would be born, um, where we would live, um, and what opportunities we would have to serve him. Another thing that really just stood out to me was how the speaker talked about how God waited like 2,000 years to put us in this exact time. Out of all the generations that we could have existed, God put us here right now for a reason. He chose us for us to be alive right now. That means that there is something he wants us to do in our schools, our churches, communities, and families. Um, sometimes we look at people in the Bible and think about the great things they did for God, but the truth is that it's our turn now, and we can't live off of what other Christians did in the past. We have to be willing to follow God and do what he is calling us to do right now. So, one of the biggest decisions I actually made at this camp, it wasn't last year, it was the year before at junior camp actually, but it was surrendering to God's will for my life. Instead of telling God what I wanted my future to look like, um I decided that I wanted whatever he wanted for me. That doesn't mean I know every detail of his plan, but it does mean that I want to follow him wherever he leads me. Looking back, that was one of the most important decisions I made all week because God's plan for my life is so much better than anything I could have come up with on my own. Something real else that really changed me was realizing how many people know God is calling them to do something, but they just keep putting it off. Um actually, we had to do testimonies the Sunday we got back in church, and I was so scared. So all I said was, I learned that if God is calling you to do something, you should just do it. And then I handed the mic off. So everyone else said like long things, but that's all I did. Um but it really is true. If God is calling you to do something, then just do it. What are you waiting for? If God is speaking to your heart about serving him, witnessing to someone, getting involved in ministry, being a missionary, or taking the next step in your walk with him, don't keep making excuses. We aren't promised tomorrow and we aren't promised another camp. If God is calling you today, then answer him today. Delaying obedience is still disobedience. To delay is to disobey. God has a purpose for your life, but you have to be willing to say yes when he calls. One thing I've also thought about since camp is how easy it is to waste what God teaches you there. You can spend an entire week hearing preaching, growing closer to God, making decisions, and seeing God grow and work seeing you work in your sorry, seeing God work in your life and seeing you grow in the Lord. Then someone asks you how camp was, and all you say is good. It was good. After everything God did that week, that's all you have to say? I mean, I've said it before, but the speaker talked about how when he was little, he went through a whole week of camp and he made huge decisions, life decisions, and his mom asked how it went, and he said good. And then she said, I sent you to camp, lots of money, and all you can say is it was good. Camp should be more than just a good week. If God taught you something, changed your heart or helped you grow, then tell people about it. Share what God did in your life. Don't let the impact of camp stop when you get home. Looking back, one of the biggest lessons I learned is that God has a plan for my life, and it's my responsibility to seek his will and follow it. God put each of us here for a reason. He chose this generation, this time, and this place for us to live. I don't want to waste the opportunity he's given me, and I don't want to ignore his calling. I surrendered to God's will at camp, and my parent and my prayer is that I will continue to follow him wherever he leads and be faithful to do whatever he wants me to do. Okay, well that's all for this week. I hope you enjoyed this week's episode. This has been Joyce Danzel. Make sure to check out our Instagram page at Faithful HerPodcast.
