Hello everyone and welcome to the Face Cleaver Podcast. It's Joy, and today we are talking about the Ten Commandments. But first we can do a game in our highs and lows before we get started. So this game is a this or that gross food edition. So let's get started. Number one, would you rather have a or I guess it's would you rather? Would you rather have warm pickle juice or cold chocolate milk with ketchup? I'd probably do warm pickle juice, because I don't like chocolate milk. Um, and I don't like ketchup unless it's like with fries or something. But next one, would you rather have a banana dipped in mustard or watermelon dipped in mayo? I'd probably want a watermelon dipped in mayo, even though these are all disgusting. Next one, would you rather have pizza with toothpaste or pizza with jelly? 100% pizza with jelly, because toothpaste isn't even really a food. Next one, would you rather have pick a pickle covered in peanut butter or pickle or a pickle covered in whipped cream? I hate pickles, but I can't eat peanut butter, so I guess I'd have to do the whipped cream one. Next one, would you rather have ice cream with hot sauce or ice cream with ranch? I'd probably do ice cream with ranch. No. Yeah. Ew, I hate ranch and hot sauce. I love ice cream though. Next one, would you rather have popcorn with ketchup or popcorn with mustard? Probably for me, popcorn with ketchup. Next one, would you rather have cheese with grape jelly or cheese with chocolate syrup? Probably cheese with grape jelly. If it was like string cheese, then it would be better. Next one, would you rather have watermelon with ranch? I think we just did this one. Or watermelon with mustard. Ranch, 100%. Um, last one, would you rather have an apple dipped in ketchup or an apple dipped in mayo? Ketchup, 100%. Okay, so uh that was that was pretty fun. Okay, so my high was that my volleyball team won our game on Monday. Um the first set was pretty close. I thought we were gonna lose, but then the last one we like totally crushed them, so it was awesome. Um it felt really good to win. And then my low was that I didn't do very well my math quiz, so we don't have to talk about it. Let's just get into the lesson now. So the Ten Commandments found in Exodus 20 is a list of rules that God gave to Moses when he was on the mountain. And we are going to talk about them and see what we can learn from them. So let's go. Okay, so the first one is thou shalt not have any other gods before me. Thou shalt have no other gods before me. And it's this is in verse three, meaning you should not put anything before God in your life. So, like if you spend more time on your phone than you do in your Bible, then you're kind of putting it before God. If all you think about is your relationship, your school, etc., that's not good. The second one, thou shalt not make it unto thee a graven image. This is found in verse four through six. That means that you shouldn't make a God. This was more of a problem, I feel like, back then, making a God and then worshiping it, but it's still very true and relevant today that you should not worship anything but God. The third one, thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain. This is in verse seven, and it means that when you say like an expression or something like that, you shouldn't say, oh my G-O-D, or something like that. It's actually very bad, and you might not even realize it because also, you might hear people say you might you never, like never hear people saying, Oh Buddha or oh Muhammad or something like that. It has to be the one true God. But anyway, the fourth one is remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. This is in verse 8 through 11. This is more for back then, I feel like, but they weren't supposed to really work on Sundays and they had to spend the day worshiping God instead of working in the fields and stuff like that. But I guess that's still true today. Like you should go to church and not take all your time on Sunday to do work and you should focus on God and what Sunday is all about. Fifth one is to honor thy father and mother, verse 12. That means to respect your mom and dad or guardian or whatever you have as a father or mother figure, to respect them and be kind to them and to love them and honor them because they love you enough to give you food and water and a place to sleep, then you can give them the respect they deserve. And that's something I really need to work on as well. Sixth one, thou shalt not call kill. Sorry, thou shalt not kill. This one is pretty self-explanatory. You obviously aren't supposed to kill other people. Wow, so hard to understand. But people do it anyway, and that is a sin. And also, it's just really sad that someone who would even have the audacity to kill a human being, unless they unless like they get a death penalty or something, then that's a different story. But seventh one, thou shalt not commit adultery. Verse 7, or sorry, verse 14. So that teaches us to keep marriage pure and faithful. God wants us to respect the commitment and boundaries he created for marriage. It reminds us to honor God with our thoughts, words, and actions. The eighth one, thou shalt not steal. Verse 16, also pretty self-explanatory, but don't take anything that doesn't belong to you. It's wrong, it's a sin, and God doesn't like it. The ninth one, thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor. Verse 16, this one is kind of hard to know what it means, because I didn't know what I it means I had to look at it. But just by reading it, it means, or like after studying it, it means we should not lie about other people or give false information about them. God wants us to be truthful and honest, especially when our words could hurt someone's reputation. In simple terms, tell the truth, don't lie, and don't like say, oh, she did this when she really didn't do it, or spread false stories about each other. So gossip. The last one is thou shalt not covet, verse 17. That means we should not want something so badly that belongs to someone else that we become discontent or jealous of what we have. God wants us to be thankful for what He has given us instead of constantly wishing we had what others had. In simple terms, be thankful for what you have instead of always wanting what someone else has. Well, that was pretty short, literally like around seven minutes, but um, that's all I have for today. Because I wrote this. Um whenever I write a podcast, I feel like it takes me forever. Then when I get to read it, it it's really short. So I'm sorry about that, but that's all I have for today. Make sure to check out our Instagram page at Faith or Her Podcast. Um yeah, so I'll see you next week. Bye.
