The WhoSoEver Podcast
Welcome to WHOSOEVER
New years make us crave novelty, but the peace we’re all after often comes from a time-tested way of reading the Bible. We open WHOSOEVER with a clear aim: help you study Scripture with confidence by rightly dividing the word of truth. That simple, ancient approach asks who is speaking, who is being addressed, and where a passage sits in God’s timeline—questions that dissolve apparent contradictions and reveal a unified story. Along the way, we unpack why “whosoever” is more than a churchy word and how it signals the open invitation of the gospel to anyone.
Susannah and Vince share how assurance of salvation becomes solid when we stop mixing instructions given to different audiences. When you know salvation rests on Christ’s finished work, you can set down the anxiety of earning and pick up the joy of serving. We also reflect on the wisdom of our late pastor, Dr. Jeff Meyers, whose maxim—all of the bible is written for you, but not all of the bible is written to you—has guided our reading and our lives.
This first step lays the foundation for the journey ahead: a practical, gracious way to study that honors Scripture’s design and frees everyday people to walk in hope. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by verses that seem to clash, or if you’re longing for clarity that leads to action, you’ll find tools and encouragement here. Join us as we build on 2 Timothy 2:15 and learn to read the Bible with a steady hand and a peaceful heart.

Welcome to the Whosoever Podcast, where we study the Bible with clarity and confidence in context by rightly dividing the word of truth, the key to unlocking the joy when we're searching the scriptures. Let's go. Welcome in. My name is Vince Hodges, and here is a starting to something new. But is anything really new? I mean the Bible says there's nothing new under the sun. But at the start of this new year, it just I guess it just feels a little different. But if you're hearing this in the middle of July, no problem. Just the same. Thanks for sharing your time. Now you can always find us on the web at whosoever.me, where if you have a question you'd like to have it here discussed, just send us an email. The address is welcome at whosoever.me. And although this really is new, a first podcast episode, it's not new at all for my wife Susanna. She's led a Sunday school class for years, and teaching is natural for her because her style is uh really neat because it takes what initially may seem to be way over all of our heads, and she really quickly turns it into an understanding that and a reality that, you know, wow, yeah, I really do get this. It really is quite simple. And just like the word whosoever, a really Bible-sounding word for sure, but we know exactly what it means. Simply everybody, anybody, whosoever. So here's a quick part of a conversation Suzanne and I had recently that led us to this whosoever podcast.
SPEAKER_00:I think our heart is giving people peace about their salvation, uh, letting them know that salvation truly is simple. And I think further than that, it's secure. It's not something that you can lose. You'll see that the way we approach the Bible is really an old way. Uh we uh rightly divide, and that has been a method of Bible study that has been around for centuries, but it kind of fell out of practice. And so our heart is to show people how rightly dividing the Bible will give you that peace. Uh, because so many times people read the Bible and they see contradictions, and they see contradictions because they're trying to put everything into one basket. Um, I like the way our pastor phrases this. He says that all of the Bible was written for you, but not all of the Bible is written to you. And that's so important that you understand that that we are living in a time between the cross and the rapture of the church. And the way we are saved is different from Old Testament and even different from people coming up in the future after the rapture of the church. And so the Bible addresses everyone, past, present, and future, and rightly dividing is that way that you look at those books and those passages and determine who is that talking to.
SPEAKER_01:I think earlier you just mentioned the um the word contradictions. And a lot of folks, especially those that uh maybe haven't considered or looked too much into the Bible when they do, or when they hear people talking about it, people are often gonna go right to well, it's just it just contradicts itself all over the place. And on the surface, I would have to say, if you just read it, they're absolutely right. It it seemingly does. But when you look at it in a in study, it uh it it it really doesn't. It's it's just kind of miraculous how it's all put together.
SPEAKER_00:It really is. You can really tell that the Bible is inspired because of the way that um it was written, uh, so that you would rightly divide it. There's only one verse in the Bible that says in 2 Timothy 2.15, rightly divide the worth of the word of truth. And and when I get to heaven, I'm gonna ask Jesus, why just one verse when it's so critical to understanding the Bible is through those divisions. And uh, so our hope here is to show people that and to give people peace about their salvation uh so that they can move forward with serving the Lord rather than worrying about themselves, right? We tend to get uh, you know, it's in our nature, we experience the world through our five senses. We we have a tendency to look at things selfishly. But once you are have peace that you are securely saved, you are going to heaven because of your belief in Jesus Christ, then you can let go of fear and fear you're gonna mess things up, fear you're gonna do something wrong.
SPEAKER_01:Because we are.
SPEAKER_00:Well, yeah, you are. You are, and that's that's inevitable. You're gonna mess up. But the thing is, is you have an advocate with the Father Jesus Christ, and He, that Holy Spirit living within you, is constantly uh making the that uh connection for you, and uh so you can't lose it. Can you lose fellowship? Yes. Can you uh suffer consequences for your wrong decisions? Yes, but you will still go to heaven.
SPEAKER_01:Now everything in each of our lives goes back to our hearts. Salvation, like anything else, it's a matter of the heart. The Lord searches all of our hearts. If we seek Him, He waits to be found. Of course, the Bible, God's Word, and His voice, is a living book that's never changed and it never will. So we believe the problem isn't the Bible or the complexity of the Bible. Instead, Scripture is often read in short pieces, really without the proper context. And as Susanna spoke about, our pastor, who since that recording we lost suddenly in December, Pastor Jeff Myers always reminded all of us that all the Bible isn't written to us, but all of the Bible is written for us, and that's really pretty key. And when we ask these questions, like who's speaking, who's being spoken to, why it matters, those answers to those questions really provide super clarity. So keeping those questions in Paul's words to m uh Timothy, and all the believers alike in his uh letter to Timothy and 2 Timothy 215, study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Now, all those questions and these words here from Paul, they are the foundation of this Whosoever podcast. So we look forward to hearing from you as we continue this journey.
