Some of the biggest growth leaps in network marketing don't come from working harder — they come from rebuilding the foundation your team stands on. In this episode, Rachael sits down with Shannon Salas, an eight-year network marketing veteran who's built a team generating millions in sales and helped 18 nutrition clubs launch across the East Coast — all while raising three kids under eight.

Shannon opens up about the pivot that took her team from stalled to scaling: resetting culture and core values before chasing the next rank. She breaks down her "Distributor Duplication System," why challenge committees outperform top-down assignments, and how she balances an always-on business with being deeply present as a mom. This conversation is a masterclass in leading with both structure and heart.

Welcome to the Social Selling Leadership Podcast, the show for six-figure network marketers ready to scale with alignment and simple systems. I'm your host, Rachel Bodie, network marketing expert and industry veteran. Each week you'll learn the strategies and systems top leaders use to enroll high-quality recruits, create duplication in their downline, and lead with confidence. Let's dive in. All right, you guys, welcome back to the show. Today is an exciting episode because it is interview day. These are some of my favorite episodes because we get to talk to leaders in this space and hear what's working. Today I had a special guest. We are joined by Shannon Solace. I want to give her a proper introduction. So she has been in network marketing for close to a decade, eight years. She hasn't had incredible success, over a million dollars in personal sales. This year, two and a half million dollars in team sales. They just hit a new pin title. So she's at the president's team, top 1%. And she's doing this all with three littles, which one of the most important jobs to be able to blend both our business success with being moms. Um, Shannon, welcome to the show.

SPEAKER_00

Thank you so much, Rachel. Um, it's such a pleasure to be on here. I'm so honored when you asked me. I was like, I absolutely have to share because it's one of the things that I love about this business is, you know, inspiring people to do something for themselves along with motherhood. And that's exactly what I did. Yeah, when I started. My first daughter was four months old. Oh, I love that.

SPEAKER_01

So how old are your kids now?

SPEAKER_00

So my daughter now is eight. Um, I have a two sons, four, four-year-old and a 17-month-old. Okay, amazing.

SPEAKER_01

So let's start from the beginning. Um, can you share a little bit about how you first got introduced into network marketing?

SPEAKER_00

Yes. Okay, so oh gosh, going back to the beginning, eight years ago. So I was actually on social media, new mom. We just got stationed um in Georgia from Germany. My husband was in the Air Force. He's recently retired after starting with me. I know, really cool. Um, and so I was scrolling one day and I knew I wanted to like work on my results. I was feeling like, oh, I was breastfeeding mom, didn't have any friends, new to the area. And this girl I started following on social media. She lived in Miami. And somehow we got started talking, um, kind of like me and you, and we were chitty chatting back and forth. And she was like, Have you ever tried herbalize? And I was like, No, I haven't. Um, but I saw she was losing weight and she had a baby. And so I was like, I would love to try it. She's like, let's hop on a call. Um, and so we got on a call an hour. My husband, of course, was like, What are you doing now? Because I've always wanted to do my own thing. I used to bake cakes, I used to sell jewelry. Okay. I just always wanted to work for myself. You know, I've always wanted to be that present stay-at-home mom. My daughter was four months old. So after that call, I was like, I'd love to do it. I tried, I did a trial. And after I did the trial, you guys, I fell in love with the product. But I also love that she said there was an opportunity to make money. And I knew if I felt this good in three days, I should probably try it, the business um to help other moms. So I became a coach on day four. And just kind of shared and it was fun. I love that.

SPEAKER_01

Did you have any hesitations or like thoughts about network marketing or objections to the hands?

SPEAKER_00

What's funny is I've actually done other network marketing companies. Um, I didn't necessarily love how to share the product. Um, it was easy for me to do this. And I the one thing about me is I don't really hesitate that much when I when I get an idea. If I really want to do something, I'm like, I'm gonna try it, give it my all. And if it doesn't work out, you know, we'll move on.

SPEAKER_01

I love that. And I think that's a hallmark, actually. Um, some of the greatest leaders, some of the greatest leaders and the most successful leaders who I coach, I noticed that they're quick to take action, right? They say that saying success loves speed. Um I love that about you. So okay, so you jumped in, you got into it, and before we hit record, you were sharing with me that you actually hit the six-figure income mark in a year.

SPEAKER_00

Is that right? Or we're yes, uh, a little over a year we hit it. And uh, it was incredible because honestly, that first year, um, six months, well, actually five months into it, my husband deployed. And um, I had to really make a decision. My grandmother just passed away from brain cancer. We had a six-month-old, and I was like, okay, I really need to decide if I'm gonna go all in with this or just take a step back. Um, and I went all in while he was gone. He was gone seven months, and at the end during that seven months, I decided to just share on social media, you know, share my results. I was, I lost 42 pounds in that six months um on the products, and it was really cool because I got a lot of people I just didn't have connection with since high school or over the years, a lot of people were messaging. What are you doing? You look so energized, you look so happy. And that gave me a lot of like purpose while we were going through that hard time with him being gone. Um, and when he came home, you know, we were earning um $10,000 a month, you know, at that level with a lot of like hard work, discipline, you know, consistency. And oh my gosh, it was cool. Cause he came home and I was 42 pounds down in the well, and you know, growing in the marketing plan, earning an insane income with a brand new baby. Wow. So I got to know the bank account was full. He's like, this is Yeah. I was like, welcome home, you know. And it and it's cool because in a lot of the time in the military families, you're going through a lot of things people don't see. Yes. Um, you know, he while he came home, our baby was walking and he left when she was crawling.

SPEAKER_02

Oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_00

So, you know what I mean? So it's it was really cool. And and you know, that was always my biggest purpose joining this was like, hey, like when you retire one day, um, at the time I was he just retired last year, so I would had been in the business seven years. I was like, I really don't want you to ever work again. I really want to make this work.

SPEAKER_01

Wow. I know there's so many people that aspire to be able to retire their husbands. And yeah, I think that's really I think you are you are an example of what's possible to so many women out there. I love that story. What were you when you were, let's see, you got into network marketing, you were a dental assistant at the time, or when when were you doing that?

SPEAKER_00

So um, right out of college, it's funny, I went to college, dropped out after two years out of university, was not for me. Went to dental assistant school back home. Um, I am a homebody. I love my parents. We had live on like a 25-acre compound, so I never want to leave. Um, and I went to dental school and I loved it. Um, I did orthodontics, and that's when I kind of connected with Ray, my husband, and I knew we were going to Germany. So we went to Germany, came back, got back into dental just to help them a little bit. I loved my office, but then found herbalize. And it's funny because I started it and I started the products, and all the girls in the office were like, don't be coming with us with those shakes and teas. Don't be telling us about the business. And I was like, oh, I'm not. But they saw me working out, they saw me feeling good, which was super cool. And so now it's funny, the whole office comes to my local nutrition club that we own, which is right down the road from my dental office. And there, a lot of them are my clients, which is super cool.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I love that full circle. And I also think there's some nuance to how you run your business because you have a brick and mortar store. Yeah, it's different. A lot of a lot of network marketers are only.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and I will say it's an advantage because we get to meet people, we get to meet people every day. We get, you know, cold market coming right into our business and we get conversations and you get to like build friendships, you know, even if they don't become your client or your coach, it's like you get to be involved in the community and you get to be a staple. And this one place has been open um five years and we love it. It's actually across the street from the college I went to for dental. So it's a very full circle moment. And this is my third nutrition club that I've owned. The other two I did pass down to my team. So that's another cool thing. Um, we have about 18 nutrition clubs across the East Coast in our team.

SPEAKER_01

Wow. Yeah. That's cute.

SPEAKER_00

I should have shouted you out. I didn't even know that about honestly. You know what's funny is when you when you asked a lot of, you know, my accolades and all that, I was just like, I guess I'm just not used to really talking about myself though. But I'm but it is a big deal, you know. We start living it and you forget how big of a deal it is. But yeah, I'm very our team, we would be nowhere without our team. Our team's amazing. So I love that.

SPEAKER_01

So let's talk about you get into network marketing, you have a lot of success, you hit that 10k a month. What was the biggest challenge of scaling from there to what are now four or five, six Xing what you were doing before?

SPEAKER_00

Well, what's funny is we hit that goal of ours before we had any nutrition clubs. So for anyone thinking out there must be nice, you know, you have a brick and mortar, this and that. We grew um to the top six percent of the company without nutrition clubs. Um, and I say that because people forget there, it's there's so much power in social media and also like just in your war market, like people you see at cookouts or people you see every day, um, friends of friends. And so I think the biggest, the biggest change that took me from that step to the next, like leveling up my business, was thinking outside the box and getting mentorship from different coaches. I think, and also not trying to do everything myself. I think there's a point in your business you have to realize you have to get coaching and you have to empower your leaders and you also have to delegate. And that was very hard for me. That was very hard for me because sometimes you feel like only you can do it.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But there's so much empowerment in you know, getting mentorship where you don't necessarily think you need it. I think a lot of people struggle with that. They think they have it all figured out, they think they have the answers and they forget. You constantly have to be learning and you constantly have to be in bigger rooms. That's so good. I love that.

SPEAKER_01

In fact, I am reading uh Eric Wori's new book. So good. Oh my gosh, I want to get pro code. Yeah, it's really it's really good. And okay, I mean as I'm reading, he talks about the these different principles of I can't remember what he calls it, pro cult principles, success principles principles, basically. Like, what is it that makes people successful in this industry? And you just hit you just hit on what he one of the things he talks about. One of the things I notice in every top client that I coach, it's growth oriented. Yeah. I have a coach, I've had for years because I know I know that I don't know what I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

100%. And there's always you don't know. And I always try to empower my leaders, like, hey, um, you know, and one thing we really did was make committees. We got on a call with all or with our team. And, you know, our team's not huge. People think you have to have this super huge team to have massive success. Our numbers are actually small. We just have really big leaders on our team, which is huge.

SPEAKER_01

That was me too in my business.

SPEAKER_00

That was yes, and it's cool because you see they want it. And I think there's power in the people that do the small sales and they love the business. I love that because they will grow eventually, but there's also big leaders that you can empower and be like, okay, let's get on a call. Let's see who wants to grow. Let's do a challenge committee, let's do a call committee, let's do a this committee. And and it really you get to see people where they really thrive, and that's what you get to work with. So that was also big. I love that.

SPEAKER_01

Can you can you park there for a sec? Because I've never heard this concept of a committee. Can you share like what is it, what would a challenge committee look like?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. So we do 21-day challenges on our team and there's work that goes into it. So um, for that challenge for that committee, you have we have certain personal trainers on our team or people that like making the flyers or they love making content daily, the workouts. So we put this committee together and it's on Telegram. That's where we do a lot of our group chats, and they plan it, they launch the challenge together, and it all has a flow. But not everyone on your team is expected to make a flyer or do this. They find their strength, and that's what they're in charge of. So we know the challenges start first Monday, end in 21 days. There's workouts, there's inspirational quotes. And it's super cool because recently we had a girl on our team step up and and lead it, and it's thriving and it's fun. We're all excited about it because the person leading it wants to actually do it instead of assigning it to somebody on your team that necessarily doesn't, it's not their strong, strong suit, or the top leaders in the group always doing everything, which is not gonna help anyone grow.

SPEAKER_01

That's so I think I love what you just shared there. And actually with Beach Body, we did challenges every month. Very, very similar. What you're describing is you're leading where you're strong, and then you're teaming, you're put a system in place to tap into where other people are strong. Yes. And I think that gives them a practice field too to show them that hey, you can lead in this area. You're good at this thing.

SPEAKER_00

Absolutely. You really separate who wants to grow and who doesn't. Because the ones that don't necessarily want to contribute or grow or are a leader yet, don't really say much. They stay kind of quiet. Those are who you plug in. Hopefully, they gain confidence. Um, but you do have to pivot. You know, we did committees for a couple of years. Jesse Lee was my mentor, you know, you know, I know rest in peace.

SPEAKER_02

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

And she taught me so much in that year. Um, you know, it was a lot of money that I put into her mentorship. Um, and and you don't have to do that, you don't have a lot of money to have a coach, you guys. But if you do, she always taught me money will come and go, but you really do have to be in bigger rooms. And that everything I took from that coach, from her, I did a Tuesday focus group call with my org. I basically just took what she took and I took it and I put it in our team. Because what I learned, I'm gonna pour back into my group. And that focus group grew us to that next level. Wow. More than 100%.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, John, my former boss, John Maxley, used to say, you want to be a river, not a reservoir. Right? So you're constantly flowing. Yeah. Yeah. So when you are getting like we're not, and that's what, and another reason why you have coaches is you're learning from some of the best, and you're able to create duplication by passing that to your team. Yeah. What did you do for a focus group? Was it just a call each week?

SPEAKER_00

It was just a call. Tuesday night focus group was not mandatory. None of our calls are mandatory because now in certain masterminds they are, but we like to give people the choice because you don't want, in my in my experience, you don't want it to become a job that they have to get on every week if they necessarily don't feel they need it or they're not ready for the information.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Because then they get burnt out, or it might be too soon for them to hear that when they're still on step one. Yep. So that was, and you know, I had a lot of feedback from our last team retreat, and they're like, Can you bring Tuesday night focus groups back? We really miss that. Um, and so we did, we just brought it back. Um, and you know, we you constantly have to pivot for what your team wants. Listen to your team, listen to the ones that want to grow, listen to the ones that are coachable, eager, ready to learn.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, I love that. That's a good little pivot you just made there because you don't want to necessarily listen to the squeaky wheels who are like doing yeah, you want to listen to the ones actually wanting to do the work. Yeah, 100%. So, what about for you? So you've already shared a couple of these things. Is there anything else like any personal disciplines or non-negotiables in your day-to-day business as a leader? Things that you just find to be really core or key to your success.

SPEAKER_00

Oh man. Well, one thing that I've learned is to be, you know, I've after having my third baby and my husband retiring and us moving, having a huge move. We lived in Georgia, built our whole life, everything for eight years there. And we moved to North Carolina last year. Yeah. It was probably one of the most rewarding years of my life because my business was at its highest. It's actually at its highest this year, but last year we had this huge boost of momentum. But it was the most challenging because I I felt like I had to be very present as a mom. Um, I mean, three kids from two to three, y'all is I don't even want to. I only have two, and that's why. Two to three is like a whole different level. Um two boys too, right? It's a blessing. Yes, it's a blessing. But my daughter's eight and she needs my attention. So I I I pay I pay attention to what she sees me do every day and sees what I say. So it's a whole different level of inspiring your littles. But my biggest thing that I've learned that's I think made me stay true to myself and not drive myself crazy. Cause I think a lot of leaders in this industry, there's ups and downs. You have to stay true to those core values. And I think the biggest one, and I wrote it down, was it doesn't have to be or it it can be and. Yeah. And so, you know, my biggest thing is is really realizing that motherhood can co coexist with building a massive business. And that that's hard. That's hard to explain to somebody because it does take a bigger capacity. Um but you don't have to be perfect at it and see, and that's one thing I've really had to learn too. You know, I used to, oh my gosh, I used to really just like the first two years of my business, we grew really fast. We grew to the top one percent of the company in two years. And and it was me and my team. And I say that proudly, but I also say I put I put my my yeah, and I worked. And there was days that my family was like, you're on another call, um, you're on your phone. And I was like, Yeah, you know, I was excited, I was ready, I was ready to do something, and it paid off. So if you have these voices in your ears, make sure that you're leading and creating your own experiences, not hearing people's opinions that haven't been through it yet or aren't where you want to be. And it's hard because we value people's opinions so much that aren't where we want to be, but that we love.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And we have to demand that respect from them in order to grow and and and persevere. So I think just really learning how to cut the voices out, coex, you know, coexist motherhood and business building is a huge thing I've had to really focus on because we're in a different, we're in a different um universe in sales and marketing and social media. Yeah and I mean, in my opinion, I think it's a great time to really join. Um, but there's so many different things all over. So you want to join something that creates a lot of choice and opportunity. And that's the number one thing I'll tell people is why I do this. It's created so much choice in my life that I can't even, I don't even know what else would compare to it. Um you know, I look at the things I prayed for. Actually, you told me this, I think, one time when you have to just sit and you have to look at what you prayed for, what you're sitting in, that and something you you really wanted. And it it that really stuck with me. I was like, oh my God, like I am sitting in an answered prayer. And and that's hard. That's hard sometimes to because you always want more, especially like the Ruby, um, Ruby stones. You know, you always want more. You're so determined to get the next level or get the next challenge or grow. And sometimes you really just have to sit and really soak in what you've achieved and understand that there's so much more to come. You just have to kind of hone in on the the and not the or.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, I love that. Are there specific things that you or strategies that allow you to have the two coexist? Or there are things that you've done, any tips or hacks or time blocking? Like, uh, is there anything there that you could share for someone who's trying to build is in the thick of it? I mean, when I started my business, my kids were four and three. I was working 50 to 60 hours a week at John Maxwell. I was traveling all over the place. My husband was traveling. And so time walking was the only, I mean, it was the only thing I could do. There, there was no other way that I could fit everything in. So I'm just curious, like, if and and you're in a different season now too, right? You're in a different season. But are but do you have any anything to share there?

SPEAKER_00

Yes. So I think one of my biggest advices is for for for the newer coaches, especially, um, and then I'll do one for the season coaches, is you know, we spend hours a day on our phones, soaking up other consuming. Yes, scrolling, soaking up other people's lives. And I'll actually remind my husband and my kids of this. Um, I don't let my daughter scroll, but just, you know, being on their their tablets or whatever, I'm like, you know, you just spent 30 minutes a day making your life better, or you know, inspiring somebody on your platform, you could grow something massively successful. Oh, that's so good. Yeah. So that is what I really try to preach because when we're in a consuming world, we're not building anything or growing anything or getting inspired. But when we're in a world of, oh, what could I add or what could I share or what could I do? Just 30 minutes a day can really change your business. And that's kind of how I have to do it. 30 minutes a day pouring out, inviting to your business, inspired, being authentic, building your business while building memory. So it takes the pressure off of you because now you're being real, now you're sharing everything. You're getting a lot of people going, okay, I could see myself in her eyes or what she's doing or what she's offering. And people miss that mark. You know, their analysis, paralysis gets them, and they don't share anything day to day, and they they're like the ultimate planner. I see so many people be ultimate planners and get nothing done. Right. It's like plan, plan, plan.

SPEAKER_01

And then like, or it's like the aim, aim, aim. They never shoot. I a hundred I love what you just said. I'll say it a different way is like documenting your life versus creating content. Yes. Right? You just show up and share it. I have to create this perfect thing because it's you're you're never gonna create it. And then by the time you do create it, you'll post it and get crickets and you'll be discouraged. Oh my gosh, I know.

SPEAKER_00

And in some of the reels you don't think at all, and you think it's funny and you post in five minutes, it goes viral. I literally just have one of those. I'm like, Are you kidding me? I'm well, if you can take any advice from us, post every day, you know, ask yourself like, what a solution can I share today? What's something inspiring I can share today? It will get people, the right people to follow you. And then you'll see an im they'll see an invite from you and then they'll join you and they'll be excited and they trust you and then they're ready. And I think that that's just the process people miss out on. They want people to instantly join them, instantly message them, sign up. And that's just not how anything works nowadays. You know, they have to, you have to really build real connections.

SPEAKER_01

So good. So you were saying that, so that was some advice for newer network marketers, but what about more seasoned network marketers? Or anything to share there?

SPEAKER_00

So for my seasoned network marketers, sometimes when we've been around so long and we've seen so much growth from other people, we tend to look at the side. We're like, why am I not at her level? You know, I've been doing the same time, or why am I not doing people? I'm posting every day. And I think my biggest advice for them is don't let yourself down through other people's experiences. You know, it has to be through what you are currently doing. And, you know, I've achieved levels in this business. We've achieved levels in this business, me and my team, that I didn't even, when we got there, it was so exciting and so like amazing. But the process and the journey is really what made it. I mean, it's crazy when you think about it. You're making the money that we're making right now is insanely life-changing. The pin that we're at is something I never even thought possible. But all I can think of is okay, how can I get my team to this level? How can I get my clients more excited about their results? How can I get my next new distributor ready for that first second client? How can I prepare my team? So, my biggest advice for seasoned coaches is stop thinking so much about you.

SPEAKER_01

So good.

SPEAKER_00

Start thinking more about how you can help other people, especially the ones that are already there in front of you. You know, you're always it's not really what you need. You just need a few excited people to lock arms with and go.

SPEAKER_01

That is another hallmark of success, is not making it about you. Right? That's a hard thing to learn. It's hard because we're as human beings, we want to make it about us. But like if you show up in service to others, people can sense that. Yeah. And all those questions you just asked, I think about the most effective leaders are the ones who ask high quality questions. You're asking all those questions about not about how I can grow, but how they can grow. Because when they grow, right? It's that Zig Zitler quote.

SPEAKER_00

You help enough people get what they want, you get what you exactly. And, you know, what I would tell someone too that wants to make more income, that's a lot of what I've hear. I'm not growing right now, my income went down. Um, they just think everything is based upon that income, you know, or that number. And I always ask them, you know, I wrote these things down, instead of asking how I can make more, you know, how do I need to become a better leader, better for my community, better for my clients, and also work on myself more. Sometimes you have to take a step back and ask yourself, am I the client or coach that I would want to coach? Am I the person that's ready for that? You know, take a look in the mirror because time's gonna pass anyways. And so this last year I did really take a look in the mirror and was like, I'm not pouring anything into me. So I can't pour anything into others. Ironically, it was when our business was at the highest because of what I've built with my team these eight years. So I'm grateful for that. Um, but you have to be real with yourself. You know, you're not gonna always be on it 100%. You're not always gonna feel, you know, feel your best. But that's okay, that's life. And that's why it's so important to share those things because the perfect the perfect client and the perfect coach doesn't exist.

unknown

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

But the real person that wants change and once an opportunity is out there, they just want to hear that they can relate to somebody. Yeah, they don't want to join the perfect person or the perfect Instagram page. Um, and that's one thing I love too. You know, you don't want to look like you're fresh out of AI, you know, use that as a tool, but you also want to be real, very authentic.

SPEAKER_01

So important right now, I think as ladies get more and more leaning towards AI and things being created back by AI, I think there's gonna be a huge differentiated advantage for those of you who are showing up more authentic, even like going live. Like you can't do that with AI, right? Like doing things that I think those things are gonna come back around. I'm already starting to see it. So um really good. What about right now? Is there a strategy or a system that's performing really well for you or your team right now? Uh, especially like with all these changes and social selling and network marketing.

SPEAKER_00

So I will say a year, year and a half ago, we created a mastermind with me and a few leaders in the company. So you even if you don't have a couple leaders you can work with, you know, locker rooms with a with one leader that you know. Um, and we created a chat, I mean, uh basically a committee called um distributor duplication system. And so we created a whole board on everything that would set up a coach successfully.

SPEAKER_01

So on the board when you say coach, you mean a distributor basically. Yes, a distributor, yes.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, okay. So um setting up your new distributor with everything um videos to prompts to recognition flyers, nothing missed, and it's all easy. Um, and we have a launch system. So we get on the call with them, we launch their business, we see what model that they prefer. I mean, we have so many different ones in herbalife, you know, nutrition club, social media is a tool, um, tea kits, all the above. We see what they want to really do because it's not about what we want to do, it's about what they want to do. Yep. And we get on a call and we launch their their business with them, we help them, and then we give them the board to set them up with success. That has been a really big confident booster for a lot of people. Um, and my newer coaches, because maybe the newer coach on your team doesn't have all the answers. They don't have all the things saved. So this is easily duplicatable. That's one thing we've been doing. Um, and really just being more authentic with like our challenges, like for our group, you know, for those small town girls, we have a lot of small town girls on our team. Um, and people love being a part of something personal.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And so I think sometimes joining the bigger massed um opportunities is great, like as far as like a big challenge in your company or this and that, but you also have to insert the small community things where people feel excited to join that they can achieve something in instead of being in this big mass. I love that advice. I think that's yeah, I think you're spot on.

SPEAKER_01

I have a lot of leaders who bring someone on, drop them in a telegram chat, point them to boards and say good luck. And then they're like, can't figure out why the person isn't doing anything. So I think you on the head creating community. Like, we're like there's an epidemic of loneliness happening in the world right now, right? People are part of something, and that's one of the greatest gifts that we have in networking, you know, the communities that we create. So I think that's that's really great advice.

SPEAKER_00

And you saying that, you know, people want to be a part of something. And one thing that I also learned is is you can't convince people to join you or beg or you know, say all these things. It's it's attracting them. You know, you want to attract the right people to be like, I want to be part of that, you know, I I really like what they have, but you also have to be open to creating things, like like you said, for the community and and and to get people together. Um, and so besides the nutrition club that we have, which is just a blessing, um, you know, mommy and me groups, you know, you can start. Um, my daughter wants to start a fidget trading club. So we're gonna start that at the club for all the kids. Oh, that's so cute. Um, I'm like, yes, we can do that, absolutely. Um, and just things like that, you know, putting yourself out there, getting uncomfortable. I'm definitely in my mom bubble right now. So for me to do things like this or like get in the community and and do these group workouts or whatever, that I will say, like that was a huge, I was so such an out um extrovert in the beginning of my business with three kids now and moving back to my home state. I've become in this mom bubble. So I'm like, no, I gotta get out of this. Like I have so much more to share and so many more people to help. Um, so it's okay if you you go through these different seasons of life. Like it's uh they don't define you. You just have to kind of grow from them.

SPEAKER_01

That's great advice. And I think what you're saying about leaning towards pursuing the things that are uncomfortable for all of us, anyone you look at, myself included.

SPEAKER_00

It's important. It's important, and it's so easy to say no to things. It's so easy to put yourself in this bubble and be like, I'm good, you know, with the income we're making and the and the things that we could, you know, just chill. And I wouldn't say that I haven't had seasons where I just took a step back and been present with my kids, but I do feel like I worked really hard for that. Yes. Um, but you know, you have to get back up. You have to get back on the horse, you have to get back, you know, helping people because there's so many people in this world, and I really do look at people daily, um, especially those who are less fortunate that that just need somebody, need a light, need more income, need friends, need community. That is why I love our company. Um, you know, shout out to Herbalife, just because it is such a community-driven business and personal development. The the the things that I know personally development-wise, now is not who I used to be. And I am so grateful that it came into my life when it did because I think it made me a better mom. I think it made me a better friend, better wife. Um, yeah. And so you really want to be a part of an opportunity that creates a lot of choice.

SPEAKER_01

On on the personal development, I will say not all companies are created equally in terms of their emphasis on personal development. And I think if you're listening to this and that is not a daily part of practice, it's it's a must because I'm telling you, you will want to quit your business. Oh, 100. You want to do it 100 gazillion times because your brain will tell you this isn't working, it's taking too long, all the things. And so you got to be putting good things in your brain all the time, whether podcast or listening to a book or reading a book. So whether you are brand spanking new or you're a seasoned network marketer, I'm actually, you know, obviously working for John Maxwell. I did a lot of personal development. Yes. But even when I, you know, Beach Body was really big on personal development too. And I think that's really huge. It's it's a gift to be part of a culture, a community where the P into the culture.

SPEAKER_00

And you can, and and you know, you can really tell when somebody isn't um doing personal development as much because little things, you know, might trigger them or they don't seem as happy. And and that's why I tell even my coaches when I when they're feeling off or frustrated, I'm like, girl, I'll send you this. You just listen to it because you always have to be like consuming as far as for a mental because your thoughts will take over, and our thoughts aren't necessarily always true. That's right. Um mic dropped right there.

SPEAKER_01

They're most of the time they're not actually. Yeah, unfortunately. I think they're brain lapelis. You just mentioned a trigger to thought. Um, is there a book or a podcast that you are really love? Somebody you read recently that you're like, oh, this is so good.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my god, I'm reading like four books right now, but that's funny. I am too. And it's so hard because I'm on Audible. There's a couple podcasts that I really like. One being you, I love your podcast. Oh, well. I honestly, you know who one of my friends sent me your way, and I was like, oh my god, I love this girl. It's it's hard to, I don't try to follow too too many people. I remember our last mastermind we read Relentless um by Tim Grover. Oh, yeah. And I'm midway through that book. Um, and I just like I like the topic of feeling unstoppable. Yes. I think when you're in, and my sister said this the other day, which is funny. She's a nurse practitioner pretty much, but she's she I want her to do the business with me so bad, but you know, whatever. She's like, you almost have to be a little dilelou when you when you're very successful. Yes. And I think a lot of people feel like they have to be so logical when it comes to being a business owner, but you also have to be the visionary and the one that's like, we can do that, absolutely. Like, we just went to Hawaii on our earned fully paid vacation um last week. Um, for two weeks, we extended our trip. You know, thankfully we could do that. And I was like, new bucket list, new vision board. I want to buy a house in Hawaii on Oahu. I'm like, it is stunning there. So you almost have to have these big goals and um constantly be visualizing like you're going to get them.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And you know, when I joined Herbali, hitting the first goal felt so impossible. I don't know how how it felt for you. And you joined yourself. I did. Like, well, okay, cool. I got one client. And, you know, when you're being when you're excited about something and you're constantly sharing it and you're constantly sharing your vision, people get people get invested and they get excited and then they want to do it too. And I think that comes with personal development. You know, you have to constantly be reading and learning and consuming new things so that way your mind keeps expanding. And that's why it's it's super important. But I will say to Ralinis, it's a good book. Um, it's a good one. I've rather it's a good one. I would, I would definitely do that one.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, excellent. So good. So I I asked this question on every podcast, and I love this question because I think um there's there's a lot of similarities a lot of times with what people share. What would you say to a seasoned network marketer, six-figure leader who feels stuck? Like what advice would you give them?

SPEAKER_00

Okay, so uh sorry, we hit the top one 1% of the company, and then for several years, we did not collect. Um what I mean by that is is we still earned a great amount of money, but we weren't hitting at that rank because we dropped a little bit in the business. Yep. And I shared that proudly because I'll tell you what, when I felt stuck, I knew that I needed to reestablish my foundation and what my ethics were and my core values were for my team. And that's one thing Jesse Lee taught me. She was like, if you feel this is when I joined her mastermind. Um and I'm so glad I did because the first call she did was about ethics and core value in your team. She said, How are they? Do your team even know? Have you guys discussed them together? And that's when we were hitting about that level. We were right under it. I was so frustrated. I'm like, we're doing everything. Like, what what how can we not be growing? You know? And when I did this call, a lot of the bad seeds left because now that was the new standard. Right. And once we had that ethics and that core value and that culture, it was really strong to build upon. And that is when we started those committees to see who was ready to lead, who was ready to grow, who still wanted to be a part of it, but was nervous.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And I started seeing changes. I started seeing changes in my organization of the people that weren't necessary leaders at the time come up. Um, also, I started inviting teammates for anyone that does have a brick and mortar or you can have like a meeting spot. Um, we started inviting people to work in the club that maybe wanted to own a club in the future. Oh, now we have multiple club owners because they were behind the bar for so long. Um, bring your coaches along. You know, third-party coaching is so powerful. You know, invite coaches into strong circles that you're a part of. Um that was our biggest pivot when we were stuck is just reevaluating our foundation and our culture within our team. Because without that, you're building upon a rocky foundation. And even the strongest leaders sometimes can't survive that because they don't feel supported or they don't feel like they're a part of something.

SPEAKER_01

I love that advice. Can you speak more to, I mean, what what were what were some of the values or what were some of the things that you established?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. So I'm glad you asked because for one thing, the one thing that's super important about me is communication and respect um within our team because we are family. Um and if we want to grow big businesses together, we also have to have big values. So one of our first ones that we all agreed upon was loyalty upon the organization. Um, because you know how it is in network marketing, it's easy to get other people's clients or step on other people's toes. And, you know, one thing we always wanted to mutually agree on was respect and loyalty um and the culture. Culture was a huge one for us. And so once we established that, especially with my leaders, because that's who people are looking at, you know, your top leaders in the organization. Um, and I connected really strongly with them. Sometimes we side note, sometimes we do want to start want to grow. And we sometimes look at our down lines, sidelines, uplands as competition. And so I invite you to look at them if they're doing something better than you or they're growing faster as inspiring and be so vocal about it. Be like, you know what? I love that you're growing, it's so frustrating you're doing more. We're doing the same thing, but I am so proud of you and I want to learn from you. So if I seem like I am so invested, it's because I really am inspired and I want to grow. I wish I would have gotten that advice earlier because it can sometimes ruin relationships. That's true. Because you are competitive, you are wanting to grow and you are doing similar things. Um, and so I think once we developed that foundation of those values, loyalty, respect, we made a whole chart with them. Um I think everyone respected each other a lot more because they knew as me as a leader, wanting that to be the standard, that's what was gonna be, or you weren't gonna be a part of what we were doing.

SPEAKER_01

So good. So that's setting a boundary to you guys.

SPEAKER_00

It's like boundaries, yes.

SPEAKER_01

Like you can do whatever you want, but if you're part of this team, this is how we're gonna roll. And that's what we actually have over here. I have um a plaque that my team gave you, gave me that says leader in the middle, and it has all of our team values on it. Okay, yeah. And they gifted that to me at once once. And I I just love it. I saved it and I I'm reminded back to that because it's support to establish the team value.

SPEAKER_00

Absolutely. And and it goes hand in hand with life. I feel like when you're building a network marketing business, all these values and these, you know, goals and all they they they really coexist with your life. I know that's such a broad answer to like anyone that feels stuck, but that truly is the pivotal moment that we had with our team was just really resetting that foundation. And then we could do our focus group calls on Tuesday nights. Um, I took everything I learned from Jesse Lee that mastermind or whoever, like I went to Eric Wori's training one time and I take those things, I plug them back into my team because not everyone has access to those things at the moment. And I pour into them every Tuesday. It was optional call. People were excited about them, people were leaving them excited and motivated. Um, and they were joining at their choice, and then it just kind of helped them grow in different ways. Maybe they weren't doing personal development every day, so they got that from that one call. Yeah, you know, but constantly pouring into your team too. And and it'll it'll make them feel like you very you care and value, you know, what they're doing, not just what you're trying to achieve.

SPEAKER_01

So good. Oh, this is such a fun conversation. I could just talk, we could just I know. Um, where can people find you? If they want to hang out with you, what's the best place to find you? We could tag places too.

SPEAKER_00

I know. So I'm on social media on um Instagram and Facebook. So Instagram, life with Shay at life with dot Shay with two Y's. Um, that's where I share all my life, mom stuff, business stuff. Um, I like to call people, um, call myself someone's business bestie. That's what I always say. Cause my two best friends actually that were, we were in each other's weddings. Um, we grew went to college together. They're my top two um distributors on my team.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, so fun.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. So that's where you can find me and then Shannon Solace on Facebook. I love connecting with people. So if you want to just message and say, hey, I would love to chat.
