Welcome to Kids Matter. I'm Dr. Elisa Minkin. As a pediatrician, mom and grandma, I understand how challenging it can be to help our kids grow into their best selves. We are so much more powerful together. Here I will be sharing the knowledge and wisdom of a wide range of people who understand and care deeply about children. I'm hoping for your input as well because kids really do matter. They are our future. Hi, I am Elisa Minkin, a pediatrician, mom and grandma. I am passionate about all kids, not just my own kids and grandkids. Over the years I've been practicing, I have seen that there are an increasing number of children who face emotional, developmental, and behavioral issues. At the same time, I have seen parents face increasing pressures. And expectations. It is such a hard time to be a parent nowadays. I find it extremely frustrating as a pediatrician that I do not have enough time in today's short office visits to adequately address these issues. Healthcare professionals like me routinely face this dilemma. It is not surprising that more parents are turning to social media for advice. I do believe that it takes a village to raise a child. I think we can leverage the power of social media to build virtual villages to help parents and children. I am very excited to start this new podcast to help parents and professionals to work together to build these villages. I plan to bring together a diverse group of people who work with and advocate for children and parents. I will be interviewing pediatricians, psychologists, therapists, and various other professionals who care for children. I also hope to interview various advocates and others, knowledgeable and passionate about the wellbeing of children. I also believe in the power of grassroots advocacy and crowdsourcing.
