From beach babes battling bloodthirsty sharks and toxic mutations to redneck trailer park terror, vampire-like bites, and a savage bull shark stalking kids at a reservoir, these films deliver everything from laugh-out-loud absurdity to tense, bloody chase sequences. 

If you love so-bad-it’s-good horror, practical effects gone wrong, and sharks showing up where they definitely don’t belong, this episode is for you. Grab your floaties — it’s about to get bloody.

Welcome to Dad Bot of Horror, season one, episode 26. I am your host, Butch Barr. Still no co-host. So a little bit of uh house cleaning in the beginning here, as you've heard, if you've listened to me before. You can find me on Twitter or X as Dad Bot of Horror and also on Instagram as Dad Bot of Horror. And uh since my last episode, I have seen a horror movie on Netflix. It's called Thrash. It's your basic shark movie, and it's not too bad. I liked it better than my wife. Um I would give it a 6 out of 10. I mean, you know, a town gets flooded, and for some reason a shark just keeps eating people. So yeah, but it's not bad. It's not bad. I I would recommend it. It's on Netflix, so I'd recommend it. And I'd also like to thank everybody out there that continues to listen. Thank you. I enjoy doing this, so I'm glad there are some people out there that enjoy listening to it. So on to the movies. So the first movie for season one, episode 26, is Bikini Shark from 2025. You can find it currently on Prime, Fossum, and Toobie To Be. Production company is Champ Dog Films. Director EJ Marshall. The writers were Harry Boxley and Justin Carter. It stars Kathy DeCauto, Ray Hayes, and Alicia Lafonti. The plot. A beach fashion launch goes horribly wrong when high-tech swimsuits attract genetically modified sharks. Okay, first off, that must have happened all off camera. Survivors battle the deadly creatures while racing to expose the sinister corporate plot behind it all. The second part of that is not true at all. There is no one racing racing to expose the sinister corporate plot behind it all. So, yeah, that plot summary is not 100% accurate at all. So why this movie? So originally I was gonna do a soccer themed episode because uh the World Cup's going on right now, and uh it was hard to find soccer movies that uh well horror movies, soccer horror movies that I could get on streaming services. There are there are some, uh, but most of them aren't available. So then I thought, well, why don't I try some Independence Day horror movies and there again, there just wasn't enough there. So I thought, well, I did just do an episode on Jaws, and Jaws is very summer, and so I thought there are so many shark movies out there, and people love it. I mean, you know, so I thought it would do an episode with shark movies, so yeah. So how did I see this one? I watched it uh for this for the first time, although I had seen like the first 10 minutes previously. That should have been enough to warn me away, but it wasn't. So my favorite kill in this, it really didn't have much to do with the kill, it was just some silliness. So there's a girl on a beach wearing one of the bikinis that attracts sharks, and a shark attacks her, she's getting eaten, and her sunglasses shift on her face. And while she's getting eaten and screaming and in pain, she puts her hand up and puts her sunglasses back on the correctly. That that yeah. That just really cracked me up. So this movie is not really that good. Um the actresses, I don't know if there's a single guy in the movie. Maybe there is, but the actresses are not very good, even though they are, I think, British. I do think the filmmakers tried. The reason I believe that is there's a this good shot in the beginning, the girl that gets eaten by the shark, the one I just talked about. So she was on the beach with her friend, her friend left and accidentally left her sunglasses there. And then the shot, the shot of the girl that stayed on the beach laying there, you see the sunglasses next to her, and you see like the shark fin in the lenses of the sunglasses. So it was a good shot. I mean, obviously it was CGI, but it was well done. It was it was a good idea, good for them. This movie, the swimsuits are both toxic and they attract sharks, and the sharks swim on land, which is you know absolutely ridiculous, but it is what it is. And even though the swimsuits are toxic and are actually burning the girls and making them sick, so the girl has them on and they get all itchy and they get a rash, and then they start to get physically ill, they still don't ever take the swimsuits off to put on something else, like that just never comes into their head. Just weird, right? There were so many different accents in this movie. I felt like you needed subtitles, and luckily I had subtitles on. Kind of reminded me, if you've ever seen the first Expendables movie, there are so many different accents going on, and Sylvester Stallone just talking that you can't understand anything because your mind doesn't have a chance to to adjust to the first accent before the second one comes blasting on. Um there is a pretty incredible line in this. So the idea. So and the guy that runs the company that makes them has kind of gone insane, they think. But really, what it really is is the parasites are in his brain telling him to do things to keep feeding these sharks these swimmers. Something like that. It really is is is weird. Anyway, there comes a point in the movie, so obviously there's a guy in the movie. There comes a point in the movie where the this guy, the guy that owned this business that created these bikinis, his mother is in it, and yells at him, you need to stop sniffing those bikinis. Because apparently, when you sniff them, that's how the parasites get into you. It's just a hilarious line. I mean, yeah. So it wasn't all bad. There were some, you know, funny things in it. Um, I questioned the director's choice on who wore the shorts and who wore the bikini bottoms. It seems like the girls who were wearing the shorts could have pulled off the bikini bottoms, and the girls that he chose to wear bikini bottoms really should have been wearing shorts. Um, yeah, I don't get it. There was also there's a part in the movie where I think the sharks are in the house. No water, just it's no water, they're just sharks in the house. And the shark is in the house, and somehow the girls got guns, and they start playing this like Terminator music, like that that music where the Terminators hunt you down. They played that that that interesting music. Well, that plays in the background, which is kind of cute. Again, it's not a great movie. Yeah, I I yeah. So movie number two is Toxic Shark from 2017. You can find it on Prime and Fossum. Production companies were Foremile Productions and Mar Vista Entertainment. Director is Cole Sharp, writer is Ashley O'Neill, starring Cabby Borders, Christina Masterson, and Michelle Cortez. A Tropical Singles Retreat takes a terrifying turn when guests realize a poisonous shark is infecting the surrounding water. Not only will it rip apart its victims, but it also uses projectile acid to hunt in and out of the water. Okay. It as far as I know, it doesn't use projectile acid. The idea is if it scrates you like with its fin, it infects you. So pretty close plot. Uh, why this movie? It was another shark movie. How did I see it? I actually saw this a few years ago, you know, looking around for a horror movie I haven't seen, and I was probably in a sharky mood. So I watched this one. Favorite kill, there really wasn't one in this one. Yeah, a lot of these shark movies, you know, the shark just eats someone, so it's not really super interesting. It is just happens. As as you know, these shark movies kind of go, this one wasn't that bad at all. You gotta ignore the whole toxic shark thing, but it wasn't all that bad. Um, the shark got toxic because it somehow too much hat had too much arsenic in it that should have killed it. But like Spider-Man, uh, somehow it just made him stronger. So I've said before, the shark bites you, it can kill you, but if it doesn't kill you and just wounds you, um, eventually you will become a toxic zombie attacking other people and either eating them or turning them into more toxic zombies. I guess this is you know how you have the shark kind of attacking on land, other than you know, the shark itself ridiculously swimming on land. So, I mean, I guess that's what gave you the pressure to try to get off this island and put you back into where the shark is, because now people are getting infected and attacking you. This uh this movie was a sci-fi original. It was made for the 2017 Sharknado Week lineup. So they made a bunch of these, I guess. And uh, like I said, this one wasn't bad. It really wasn't. This this movie is an example of two questions that I have for filmmakers, you know, for these type of movies. Why is it that the girl labeled as the slut is the least attractive of her friend group? Um, it happened in this. Like there were three girls, and the one was the tramp of the group and was the least attractive of the three. The other one was why is it the girls with the worst bodies are in the bikinis the longest? Meanwhile, the women with the really good bodies are wearing dresses or sarongs or even t-shirt and jean shorts for most of the movie. Why do you feel you need to do that? Is it a I I don't know. I don't I I don't know why why you do that to the to the movie watching audience. Just a question. So I'm moving on to movie number three. A lot of these movies, there's not much to them. I mean, they're they're formulaic, you know. Hey, everybody's here, shark happens. Try to get away from shark or kill shark, and then kill shark, kind of a thing. That's really what these come down to. Movie number three, for season one, episode 26, is Trailer Park Shark. It also goes by Shark Shock. It's from 2017. Um, you can currently find it on their Roku channel. Uh, the production companies are I love this one. It it's A-L-L-A-B-O-R-D-E, all aboard films, and curmudgeon films. I I those are those are two great curr uh production company names. Great job. Director is Griff First. Writer, Griff First, Nathan first, keep it in the family, and Marcy Holland. I wonder if Marcy's dating one of the first boys. Starring Thomas Ian Nicholas, Lulu Jovovich, and Clint James. You probably heard of Thomas Ian Nicholas. We'll get into that later. Plot. A tropical storm floods soggy meadows trailer park and forces a hungry shark upriver. Yes and no. There are storms going on, but someone uh blows up the levee and causes all the water to flood this trailer park, and then the sharks happen. Again, why this movie. I actually did see this movie before, and actually a couple times, because it's not a bad movie, it really isn't. It's entertaining, it has its moment. Favorite kill. Again, most of the kills in this were really bad CGI. So I really didn't have a favorite one. Maybe when they blew up the levee, the guy that was doing it blew himself up. So that was kind of funny. So maybe that was mine. You know, he blew himself up by accident. So maybe that was my favorite in this whole thing. Because that that's kind of funny. Let's see. Again, the movie wasn't bad. The CGI sharks were bad, but the movie isn't. There's a pretty funny line where when Rob, who's played by Thomas IS Nicholas, is riding a truck with his uncle, and they're driving a pickup truck, and his uncle's trying to tell him stuff, and and and Thomas Ian Nicholas's character doesn't believe him. And his uncle just says, I didn't just fall off the turnip truck, and then they pan to the outside of the truck he's driving, and on the door of the truck, it's you know, so and so's turnips. That's funny. That's clever, funny, that you know, silly funny, but I think it's also clever. Um, I have lived around trailer parks, and none of the trailer parks I've lived around look like this one. They actually look more like a bad set than actual trailer park. It looked looked like maybe an RV park. Excuse me. I've never been like an actual RV park. I've seen pictures. And you most of the most of the people in this park were living in RVs. I don't I think there's only like one or two actual like trailers, like mobile homes that you'd see. So maybe it's just different in the south. I live in the north. Maybe it's different. So in this movie, they tried to electrocute this shark, a la end of Jaws 2. But again, like this last movie, like the intoxic shark, where the arsenic doesn't kill it, only makes them stronger. Well, this they tried to electrocute him. And instead of it killing him, it now gives him like this electric feel that that stuns people and knocks out electrical items. It's it's it's strange. I guess, I guess you had to add that for certain reasons. I don't know why. Thomas Ian Nicholas, who again started this movie, did not age well. He was in the uh American Pie films, and I guess as a younger kid, he wasn't he was kind of cute, I guess. But uh, yeah, he did not age well. Tara Reed, also from the American Pie movies, was in this. And it's like, like, what happened to her? I mean, I mean, I guess I know, but because you know, she was, you know, gorgeous in the American Pie film. She she did that movie with Ryan Reynolds, which I can't think of the title right now. Uh Van Wilder, where you know, really just cute. But, you know, like think about it. I remember she had a series, I think it was on E, where she just went around in party places and drank. And I think it just, you know, well, put weight on her, really. And then I think like she had a liposuction thing gone wrong. Like, she, yeah, there was just a lot there, and you know, and she came back and was in that sharknado movie, you know, and and it kind of revived her career a little bit, and and you know, here she is in another shark movie. So, and you know, in this movie, she does actually make reference to a shark NATO without actually saying shark NATO, which is kind of neat, too. The best of the cast in this movie is Dennis Haskins. Now, if you don't know who Dennis Haskins is, he played Mr. Belding on uh Saved by the Bell. He's he was awesome on that show, and he was awesome in this movie. So if you get a chance, I'd take a shock shot at uh trailer park shark. I really would. You know what? I did say Roku channel. I was just putting on a movie on Tubi, and I swear I saw Shark Shock there as a title, so it could be on Tubi also. Movie number four for season one, episode 26. It's called Blood Bite, it's from 2020. You can find it on Prime, Fossum, and Tubi. Uh, the production company is UQ. It's it was made in China. The directors, yeah, it was made in China. Here comes some pronunciation of names. Director is Lang Wang. The writer is Zhang Li. It stars Tyra Clantz, that one was easy, Alex Fong, another one, that was easy, and now Zi King Li Lu? Lu? Yeah, yeah, that's a tough one. The plot. After a great white shark, also known as an ogre shark, sure, is injected with a transgenic drug, it becomes a dangerous bloodthirsty mutant that can outsmart even the king of nature. I'm not sure who that is. Godzilla, maybe? A group of hapless lovers of playing with the laws of nature. I have no idea what that sentence means. So, yeah, it's uh, you know, these people they inject drugs into great white shark hoping to make them breed more because great white sharks are endangered animals, and what they were using was also making them smarter, stronger, blah blah blah by accident. Why this movie? Again, shark movie. How did I see it? I watched it for the first time for this particular podcast. Favorite kills, again, uh bad CGI kills. I mean, this is really bad CGI, so there was really no favorite. This movie is not good at all. The CGI is horrible. The backstory and flashbacks are confusing, and it leads to a kind of a confusing ending for me. It was basically the Chinese version of Deep Blue Sea, except there were brothers and maybe love. It was bad. I don't know if it's extremely low budget or just how Chinese works. Even when their actors or actresses were in the water, it was just like them. I don't know if they were on wires. Like it looks bad. Like it looks really bad. I mean, even the dubbing isn't great in this movie. This this is a movie I think that even Mystery Science Theater 3000 would have trouble making good. Although I would love to see them try. Yeah. That's just the level that this movie's on. Like so bad it could actually be good. I didn't see it quite that way. Maybe I'd have to watch it again. Not sure I will ever do that, though. So we're gonna leave that one alone. So the final movie. When I did, yeah, I did five movies because when you do these, you know, sci-fi original at best, look no budget independent movies at worst, it's hard to have a lot to talk about. There's not extreme filmmaking, there's not great acting, there's not this, that, there's not that. So there's not a lot to talk about, and that's okay. You know, there's not much to the movies, and that's okay too. Some of them just entertain you for a little while, and that's okay. So, yes, movie number five. For season one, episode 26, is a movie called Below from 2023. You have to find it from that year. There's a bunch of movies titled Below. You can find it on To Me. Production company is Dreamscape Cinema. Director, Robin Christian. Writer, Robin Christian. Producer, Robin Christian. First, Bug Bunny, second piece, Bugs Bunny, third base, Bugs Bunny. It stars Audra Shieldhouse, Garrett Forster, and Aaron Albertson. Also, it also stars uh Yeah, I'm done. Plot. Unsuspecting teams fight for their lives when a hungry bull shark hunts them in a murky, very remote reservoir. That is pretty on point. One of the few pots on IDB that is pretty on point. Why this movie? Again, shark movie. How did I see it? Last year, I remember wandering around on Tubi and I saw this and looked interesting. So I watched it. And it is. It's actually a good movie. Favorite kill, again, there really isn't one. Just bad CGI shark kills. This movie is is basically the second half of Jaws 2, just kind of like pared down. A bunch of young adults trapped on a raft by a shark, like high school kids, I think they're supposed to be. Um they even have a part where someone in a paraglider tries to pull them to safety only to be killed by the shark. Uh, very reminiscent of the helicopter at the end of Jaws 2 trying to pull them to safety only to get killed. Funteen Tropes, uh, the nice girl who is super hot is dating a complete jerk. The nerd in this movie is actually hot but wears glasses and is smart, you know. More like horror movie tropes. No one listens to the person that knows what is actually going on, which ends up leading to their death. The writing in this has to be either the worst writing ever, or they deal with the dumbest humans on the planet Earth. Like good ideas keep coming up on something they should do, but no one actually follows through on them. Towards the end of the movie, a guy that knows he's gonna die because he's been bit and is bleeding out sacrifices himself by diving in one way so that the shark goes after him and telling the other ones to swim to freedom, but but none of them do. None of them take that opportunity. They just stay there screaming, no, no, no, don't. Well, he's already done it. Swim to freedom. The slutty girl in this, of course, is the least attractive girl in the entire movie, but she has really huge tracts of land. Uh also, either somehow she swims without any type of distraction, has to be the slowest swimmer I've ever seen in my life, and somehow makes it to shore without the shark at her. Having seen her do it, I think anybody should have been able to do it. She must be dating the director or something. I don't know. And then she gets a truck. She gets in the truck of someone who got killed, and instead of driving to get someone to save them, you know, you know, get the police, people with guns, people with real big boats or whatever. No, no, no. She gets in the truck and drives the truck into, you know, the reservoir. Great job. That's not doing it, didn't do anything. Yeah, sorry. Except for the except for that kind of like dumb in in the movie, it's not bad. The production values are actually excellent. They really are. Um, the CGI is not great, but everything else is good. Like it's a very watchable movie, and I would suggest watching it because it's not bad. Um, the one thing I will note, and I've I I've talked about this before. When I was younger, like the nerd in these horror movies always gets killed. You know, that's what happens. I shouldn't say always, but mostly. I mean in the first scream, like Jamie makes it, but Jamie, I don't think, makes it through the second one. But like, it seems like there's more and more movies now where the nerd makes it through. Like this finally, the smart one that knows what's going on actually makes it through to the end. And gets the girl. So uh yeah, go nerds. So that's all I have to say about that one. Like I said, I like it. There's not much to it. It's actually a pretty short movie, it's I think slightly over an hour. Not much of a watch, you know, not much of a task on your uh a taxing on your time if you if you if you want to take it up, I I would suggest it. But that's the last one. I'm still working on what movies I'm going to be uh going over for the next episode. So, everybody out there, have fun.
