Father’s Day felt like the perfect excuse to hand the microphones to the dads in our lives, and they did not hold back. We sit down with Adam, Dylan, and Gil for a raw, funny, and unexpectedly emotional talk about modern fatherhood, starting with the exact moment each of them realized, “Oh, I’m actually going to be a dad.” It’s the kind of parenting conversation that sounds like your group chat, but hits like real life when the jokes fade for a second.

We get into the dad version of mom guilt: staying late at work when you know you could be home, sleeping in when your partner is already up, even asking permission to take a shower because you hate feeling like you’re tapping out. From there we talk about what we hope our kids remember most: being present, being steady, and being the parent they can come to whether they’re proud of themselves or scared to admit they messed up. If you care about millennial dads, hands-on parenting, and building a family culture where kids feel safe, this one lands.

Then we go deeper on girl dad vs boy dad expectations and what it means to raise resilient kids without teaching them to bury everything. We talk toughness, vulnerability, and why “the days are long but the years are short” isn’t just a quote, it’s a warning not to blink. You’ll also hear the real stuff couples deal with after kids: pet peeves, morning stress, household habits, and the tiny fights that aren’t about the kids, but definitely affect the home.

If you laughed, related, or felt seen, subscribe, share this with a parent friend, and leave a review so more moms and dads can find Momish. What’s one piece of advice you’d give a new dad today?

Father’s Day Setup And Introductions

SPEAKER_06

Hi guys, welcome to Momish, your weekly yap session. I'm Gabby.

SPEAKER_04

I'm Katie. I'm Taylor.

SPEAKER_06

And this one is a special episode. For Father's Day, we thought it would be a great idea to include the men who complete our lives, the dads that our babies see as heroes. Welcome to Mommish, Adam, Dylan, and Gil.

SPEAKER_01

Yay! Great to be here.

SPEAKER_05

Alright, so before we begin, I would like to thank our husbands for volunteering to be here.

SPEAKER_06

Although they didn't volunteer. Yep. We also like to remind them that anything they say can and will be used against them in future arguments. This is the same place.

SPEAKER_05

Now let's get into it, guys. So let's welcome our baby daddies. Guys, introduce yourselves.

SPEAKER_02

Hi, I'm Dylan. I'm 96 years old. I'm an astronaut for NASA. I'm on crew 1696, and I am the father of Taylor and I's kids. There's five of them. Nicholas. Alright, I'm just joking. I'm Dylan, Taylor's husband. My kids are Charlie and Isla. I am an avid outdoorsman. So when I'm not working, hang out with my kids, you can find me in the mountains somewhere.

SPEAKER_05

With Taylor yelling at behind us.

SPEAKER_02

With my oldest Charlie. She's an adventurer, too.

SPEAKER_05

Taylor and Isla will be back at the Hesie hanging out. Yep. Eating problem to do.

SPEAKER_01

Hey guys, I'm Gil. She can refer to me as Dragon. I am 36. I am Katie's husband. And a father of two children, Noah and Crew.

SPEAKER_00

Our angels.

SPEAKER_01

My hobbies include spending a lot of time with Adam and Dylan.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Shooting at stuff.

SPEAKER_05

Not people.

SPEAKER_01

Nope. No people.

SPEAKER_05

Just random people. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Playing golf, being outside, beach, anything.

SPEAKER_05

Talking about grass.

SPEAKER_01

That's right. Talking about grass.

SPEAKER_05

Gil's gadgets.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I gotta talk about stuff in there real quick, actually.

SPEAKER_05

All right. I was like, now that you mentioned it, real quick before Adam goes.

SPEAKER_01

Actually, we probably should start this thing off with the differences between fescue and Bermuda. Yeah, yeah. Which is how they're reacting to the drought.

SPEAKER_02

You got fescue now. But real quick before Adam goes, Gil, did you just say my habbies include? Yeah, I'm trying to play that one back. Trying out new accents.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

This was the place because I have a bigger audience. I'm Adam and sheesh, I don't know where to start about myself.

SPEAKER_04

How about married to Gabby?

SPEAKER_03

I'm I'm married to Gabby, for sure. That was you know I was gonna end it all. I have a beautiful son named Bowie. I like to do stuff. I don't know what I exactly I do, but I'm always doing something.

SPEAKER_05

He fixes shit and ignores my text.

SPEAKER_04

My name's Adam, and I like to fix stuff.

SPEAKER_02

He puts in sync he makes rooms cold. Yeah, I do that kind of thing. I appreciate you for that. Yeah, no problem.

SPEAKER_05

We're gonna just kind of like jump on into it. Jump on into it. But Adam, I wanted to tell you something that made me think of. Noah the other day was in Gil's car and Gil's AC sucks. And she was asking Gil, like, why is the car so hot? And he was like, Oh, well, my AC is like not working so well. And she goes, hmm, well, you better call Uncle Adam. No way.

SPEAKER_02

She knows what I do. Yeah. No, she just doesn't let you fix everything.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Was it specific to the air conditioning? Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

She's like, you know what? Broken, must call Adam. She got an H track thing.

Finding Out You’re A Dad

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Question we have for you. What were your first thoughts when you found out you're gonna be a dad?

SPEAKER_05

Immediate reaction, not the one you want us to hear.

SPEAKER_03

Thank God I can finally sleep, you know.

SPEAKER_05

What?

SPEAKER_03

What? It was a lot of long nights.

SPEAKER_06

Like you're having sex all night. We had sex every fucking day. Well, okay.

SPEAKER_03

Did you guys have a try for a long time? No, it was like four days.

SPEAKER_05

I was like, let's go. But those four days.

SPEAKER_03

Fuck fascinating.

SPEAKER_05

My basil my basil body temperature is at peak right now. Get get naked, Adam.

unknown

He was like, all right.

SPEAKER_05

He was like, why don't we just can we just sleep?

unknown

No.

SPEAKER_03

Can we just sleep? Can we talk about our feelings or something?

SPEAKER_02

I'll have to come back to the immediate thoughts after I found out I was gonna be a dad, but I know my first thoughts right before I found out. I was I just got into Carl's apartment. Shout out to Carl, one of my friends. Taylor was already there. We were going to see a concert in Charlotte. I walked in and Taylor said, Dylan, come here and pulled me into the bathroom. And so I thought she was trying to have a quickie in Carl's apartment. And so I went in the bathroom. And so I was like already like half torque slash full torque. Because I thought we were about to have a quickie. Wow. You were just I was ready to go. This is so romantic. And so uh the next words out of Taylor's mouth were she shut the door and she said, Look at this, and she showed me uh a dipstick, whatever you call them. And a pregnancy test? Pregnancy test, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

What was the oil level on the face?

SPEAKER_02

This is full, baby. Taylor, your oil's low. And uh so yeah, I'll have to come back to my immediate thoughts. Just the typical ones, like nervous, scared, happy, couldn't believe how fast it was. Like we decided we were gonna try to have kids, and then it was within like a week later. She showed me that test.

SPEAKER_04

So it definitely wasn't. Yeah, I got into it. Not how the menstrual cycle works. It was pretty good, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Month, couple days, same things. The little glimpse inside of a male brain, their perception of time is just fucking reticular.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, you definitely thought, Adam, that if we had sex the night before a wedding, I'd be pregnant on our wedding.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, you wouldn't.

SPEAKER_05

I was like, it doesn't work that way. You can't drink at your wedding if you're sexy before or get away from it. Adam, how long did it take you to find out that women had more than one hole?

SPEAKER_02

Well, you guys have more than one hole to pee out of? Right now.

SPEAKER_05

Well, I meant like what time is it right now?

SPEAKER_01

A little bit of it's like an initial shock, but it starts settling in, and I just was kind of envisioning what they would look like, who they would be, and I just knew that there was kind of a magical journey ahead, and I was started to get more and more excited as time went on.

SPEAKER_05

Hmm. So the non-reader's digest version, was there anything like not?

SPEAKER_01

That's how I really oh well. I thought we were gonna bone when you called me in the bathroom, you know, like Dylan said.

SPEAKER_05

Well, he was had to call me down.

SPEAKER_02

I had reason to believe that we were going to.

SPEAKER_04

Gil is nothing like Carl's bathroom, you know? Yeah. So he sets the moon.

SPEAKER_06

You come out in the bathroom, Carl's making pancakes. Okay, no matter what.

SPEAKER_01

I already had a feeling going into it because when I was washing dishes, there's a little sour cream on the plate, and you started drug heaving. Before you actually told me, I was kind of ready for it. I knew it was.

SPEAKER_05

You were like, Are you pregnant or something?

SPEAKER_01

You love sour cream. Yeah. Everything.

SPEAKER_05

So not anymore.

unknown

Not everything.

SPEAKER_05

But yeah, it was one night you were cooking or something, and then or we were cleaning the dishes, but I was I saw the sour cream and was like, oh, that's so disgusting. And then he's like, You pregnant or something? And I was like, No? It's like that, like when the camera zooms in on you and you're just like, oh fucking. So I just like walked away like really fast and like went upstairs, and then I was like hysterical, and he was having to calm me down because I was just like, I don't, I don't know. Because Gil and I are really irresponsible. We use plan B as a form of birth control. Yeah, y'all fuck around and find out. That's literally what we said. We said fertile myrtles. Yeah, well, I didn't know at the time I was a fertile myrtle. I said, risk it, fuck around and find out. Like, and we fucked around and risk it for the Noah Biscuit. Yeah, so we fucked around and then we found out. And our name is Noah. Can I ask you about this? Was this question just for the men? Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. I was wondering why Katie was answering it.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Before my wife inter inter interrupts me. I didn't answer. I thought he did. I didn't answer. I'm pretty sure he did, but okay, Adam's gotta say something. No, no, I guess I no. No, you're right. I did. I did say uh think I would say. Yeah, you said you can't wait to sleep. Yeah, yeah. So do you have something? I just thought, you know, Gabby's terrible at telling, like holding a secret for more than like four minutes. So she basically she's like, I'm pretty much, you know, like pregnant, kind of. And then it was just like kind of, not for real. Not all the way, just a little bit. Closely.

SPEAKER_06

So excited.

SPEAKER_03

And then she like made this whole box and gave it to me, and I was like, love this box, great moment. Kind of knew two or three days ago.

SPEAKER_01

I was like, made it official.

SPEAKER_02

Gabby says, how did she basically tell you? How did she yeah, how did she let you know? Gave me like a box? No, no, no, like before that. You said you already home.

SPEAKER_06

It was a little faint.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, so you literally said I might be pregnant. Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_06

I found out like later. Yeah. Because I was into now.

SPEAKER_05

Just a little nauseous. Yeah, I it yeah, it did not hit it.

SPEAKER_02

You guys I remember when you found out that Katie was pregnant, you guys went to uh Oh, we went to Mexico.

SPEAKER_04

Oh yeah, she knew immediately. Ordered a diet cope. I'm like, we're we're at a Mexican restaurant. And you're an alcohol.

SPEAKER_05

So even before because she was like one of the first people I told, and even before I told her, she immediately knew. She goes, Yeah, you're busy. Like she, yeah, she like clocked it real quick. Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Like Gabby actually shows up to a bonfire with a Stanley of water, and I'm like, really, you're that thirsty. I was like, I'm just really thirsty. Lies.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, I am really bad at keeping a secret as well. So I told Taylor pretty much immediately.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, when I found out I was pregnant with Isla, I'm pretty sure I called you like.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, you were like, you FaceTimed me, and all I saw was you with tears in your eyes, and then you just held up the stick, and I was like, oh fuck.

SPEAKER_02

Funny story about when she found out she was pregnant with Isla. I was sitting on the couch and we were we were fucking around and finding out. Like we we weren't surprised when we found out, but you're not we were not by any means planning on having the second child at that time. And I'm sitting on the couch, Taylor was upstairs, taking a shower, doing something.

SPEAKER_05

Obviously, taking a pregnancy test.

SPEAKER_02

I didn't know she was taking a pregnancy test, but she I just hear her like running across the upstairs. I hear her feet, and I just by the way she was running, I knew what she was about to say. That's low and she yells, she goes, Dylan, and I I knew it. I knew what she was about to say was she was pregnant, and sure enough, she was.

SPEAKER_05

That's when you know somebody by the by their footsteps.

SPEAKER_02

Yep, I knew she was pregnant by her footsteps. If I heard him again tomorrow, I would know.

SPEAKER_01

Another story. Oh gosh. You won't about that. We were Dylan, Adam, and I were at the shooting range, actually, and we had just found out that we're having crew, and I was like, she was Taylor was the th Taylor and Dylan were the third one to have their kid at the same second kid at the same time. And I was like, Dylan, imagine if you had another baby too with us. And Dylan's like, oh god, Taylor would kick my ass, dude. There's no way.

SPEAKER_05

Yep. Yeah, I kind of manifested that one a little bit. I uh I did a rain dance at the post-malone concert. I was like, this is so much fun.

SPEAKER_02

Stars.

SPEAKER_05

Yep.

SPEAKER_04

My yeah, the astrology queen. All right, next.

Dad Guilt And Self Pressure

SPEAKER_04

We talk a lot about mom guilt day-to-day. What do you think, like the dad version of what we say is mom guilt? Like, what's the thing?

SPEAKER_03

Can you give us a breakdown on like what you think of?

SPEAKER_04

Uh like mom guilt. Like not surprised at all. Just going to take a like long shower. You have this thought in the back of your head where you're like, Do you know what you're doing?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I can phantom prize all time. There's a lot of them, but the first one that comes to mind is when I have to work late, I'm in tech sales, and so I have a pretty flexible schedule. I kind of make my own schedule. I'm able to start work either early and end late, or start work early, end early, start late, work late. And so I'm often on the road home from the office by three o'clock, the latest sometimes. And so if I have to do a normal day of work and stay to the office until five, I I feel like I'm doing something wrong. And I know I'm not because working until five o'clock is normal.

SPEAKER_05

But I think those days when I'm when I do a normal day.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I feel guilty. One of my biggest ones is if Katie wakes up before me.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, yeah. I do always feel so bad about myself.

SPEAKER_01

I just feel like it's my responsibility to wake up first, get the kids up. I don't know why. Well, just because of your nursing schedule, I want you to get every minute of sleep that you can. And if you have worked recently and you're up before me, I just feel like a bag of dicks.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, yesterday he woke up later and came downstairs and was just like immediately had like all these different things lined up to like tell me. And I was like, why are you beating yourself up, dude? Like, just the day's over. Yeah. He was like, Yeah, and you use I'm so sorry. I was like, it's fine. Like, that's just why, like, I'm well, okay. Well, at least I know that you guys have it maybe fine for you, but it's not a little better.

SPEAKER_04

What the like mom guilt is, though. It's not always a rational thing. Like, it's not a reason that you should actually feel guilty. It's like guilt that you're putting on yourself.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, it's like taking a shower all the time. I'm like, hey, are you cool if I take a shower? And you're like, why the fuck do you ask me to bathe?

SPEAKER_03

Every single time.

SPEAKER_05

I'm like, I don't have body odor. Guilt guilt help.

SPEAKER_03

I don't care, babe.

SPEAKER_01

I feel so guilty when I take 30-minute poops.

SPEAKER_05

Oh my god.

SPEAKER_01

I still do it today. I still do it and I'll never stop, but I feel a little bit of guilt.

SPEAKER_05

Well, that's a segue. So why does it? Adam didn't get to go. Okay. Well, I was just gonna ask a question, but all right, thanks for cutting me off. Go ahead.

SPEAKER_03

I'm sorry, I just wanted Adam to get a chance to go. He was going to, but it's fine. Go ahead. Oh, yeah, I was gonna talk over you. I'm trying my best not to talk over Katie Red. She's talking. I'm looking at her like, oh wait, this kid's gonna be.

SPEAKER_05

I forgot to get the talking stick. I did think. Oh, we yeah, we need a talking stick. But anyway, Adam, go ahead. Princess.

SPEAKER_03

So I'm sorry, Katie. Destroy her. We're good. My biggest one is when I'm at work and there's any downtime whatsoever. I'm like, I could be with my son right now.

unknown

No.

SPEAKER_03

I can be doing anything.

SPEAKER_05

That's so sweet.

SPEAKER_03

And I'm here.

SPEAKER_05

Staring me. That's very sweet, Adam.

SPEAKER_03

Or doing something that's not worth it when I could be with him. And I'm like, why am I doing what I'm doing right now when I could be working, you know, with him.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. Well, hopefully one of you guys will become a stripper so we can all stop working.

SPEAKER_02

No, this podcast needs to blow up so we can all stop working. So you you listeners, start spreading the word, please, because Adam Gill and I want to stop working and go shoot guns and ride dirt bikes and go do what we want to do. We need these, and that too. Yeah, we need these women.

SPEAKER_06

We want to do our extracurricular hobbies.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, happies. We want to do our habbies.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

We're gonna bring we're gonna bring the kids with us when they get old enough. Yeah, yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. That you're pro to the film or it's like when my dad used to bring me to Lowe's every single day.

SPEAKER_04

Oh my god, every Saturday. It's like, how many times could one person go to Lowe's? It was so annoying.

SPEAKER_03

I went there twice today.

SPEAKER_06

Meanwhile, we've brought Bowie to Home Depot in Lowe's a lot. I don't want to say every day, but we brought him to a Home Depot like every weekend when he was a newborn. Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

I'm like, this is gonna be your second light aisle to bring your baby on the light.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, I've seen that in the fans too. Yeah. Have you guys seen a Home Depot on a Saturday morning? They do like a kids' play for toddlers and stuff. Hundreds of kids are there. It blew my mind when I saw it one day. No one's like, I'm gonna join real quick. Yeah, let me build this birdhouse, please.

SPEAKER_05

Like 30, you actually have a kid. Give me that bird.

SPEAKER_03

Sounds exciting, but also like my own personal health. Yeah. I'm building it

Bathroom Humor And Oversharing

SPEAKER_03

for her.

SPEAKER_05

So back to what I was saying that was a really good question that Gil brought up is why is it that it takes? I know all of you do it, but I don't know if Gil's takes the longest shits of any person I've ever met. No, no, no, no, no. It's a like I've seen the red ring around your ass from how long you sit on the toilet.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. No, raise of hands. How many of y'all have hemorrhoids? Because it's probably from how long you sit on the phone.

SPEAKER_02

I thought I had hemorrhoids until I recently found out I have celiac's disease.

SPEAKER_05

It's not confirmed.

SPEAKER_02

You eat gluten all the time.

SPEAKER_05

No, this is like four-day.

SPEAKER_02

I just got blood work done and found out.

SPEAKER_06

Oh fuck.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. Say a prayer.

SPEAKER_06

You're gonna be fine. I have to ask a question kind of related to Katie's motion-is like a couple episodes ago. Do you guys also stare at your buttholes and know what it looks like? Taylor doesn't.

SPEAKER_02

I I used to, I had a like a running bit for a while when I was in college. I would take videos of myself pooping. Oh like my like my butthole. How radical? So I would hold the camera under like under my legs and fill myself pooping. Why am I surprised? Why are you admitting that this? Oh, it looked crazy. It looked crazy. Very similar to like that. Very similar, but same same but different.

SPEAKER_00

What the fuck?

SPEAKER_02

So I am very familiar with what mine looked like. It's been years since I looked at it. Please don't do this anymore. Yeah. No, I haven't done it in a long time. I would send pictures of my poop to close friends, but this bit was like my actual butthole as I poop. It was crazy.

SPEAKER_05

Why am I not surprised by it?

SPEAKER_02

I had like a group chat of all my friends.

SPEAKER_05

So all of your friends have seen your asshole?

SPEAKER_02

Not all of them, but a lot of them.

SPEAKER_05

Select a few.

SPEAKER_02

Specifically my college across team. They all saw it a lot.

SPEAKER_05

Do you guys feel like slighted at all that you haven't seen Dylan's asshole?

SPEAKER_03

I've seen Gil's asshole, but I've not seen Dylan's.

SPEAKER_02

No, I've never showed these fellows my butthole. I haven't looked at my own in a while.

SPEAKER_06

I knew this would be a great question. Great question, Gaddy. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Mine's a mystery to the world. No one's seen my butthole.

SPEAKER_01

For the record, listeners, that was in international waters.

SPEAKER_02

No, but it actually was. It was on a cruise. It really was. It was Adam's bachelor party. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

So I guess that means it doesn't count.

SPEAKER_02

No. No.

SPEAKER_04

We go on bachelorette trips and like drink a lot of wine and like wear white.

SPEAKER_02

Take your IEDs out of each other. Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

That was on a family beach trip.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

But they call some PTSD up in here for me.

SPEAKER_05

Why got the batches one time? Yeah. Gabby said she was going to take it out the week before your wedding. I said, bitch, you're going to be bleeding after. So I think you should probably take it out now. I'm an I'm I can do it. I said, okay, let me walk you through that. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

I'm like, what's your cop? That's true.

SPEAKER_05

Yep. So there we go.

SPEAKER_06

Great memory.

SPEAKER_05

Don't get mad that I've that I've also got inside of your wife. My fingers. Anyway.

SPEAKER_02

Not your cock.

SPEAKER_05

Adam gets it's big and black.

SPEAKER_03

No, it's purple. We've seen it.

SPEAKER_05

Okay. That one.

SPEAKER_03

We're families listening.

SPEAKER_05

I hope you're not going to be able to do that.

SPEAKER_01

That was a lightsaber bumble.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, I told Adam one time to go grab something out of my nightstand one time, and he just comes downstairs and he goes, Don't ever fucking tell me to open your nightstand ever again. You have a lightsaber in there.

SPEAKER_03

Next to a Glock.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, I have my gun and my dilto. The essentials.

SPEAKER_02

It would have been great if he came downstairs with it.

SPEAKER_06

I just want to say, as much as Adam is like the biggest jokester, you are also like, what's the word? He gets protective of you. I guess me. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

I guess

What Kids Remember About You

SPEAKER_04

it's me. What is something you hope your children will remember about you?

SPEAKER_02

Remember like that. I never cared about what other people thought. And I just was myself, and it doesn't matter if that was weird, annoying or snaps for grace.

SPEAKER_04

Snaps for grace. Adam?

SPEAKER_03

That I was always there.

SPEAKER_05

Oh my god, Adam, you're gonna make me cry.

SPEAKER_03

No. That's definitely something that I I want to be there.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. Yeah. That's yeah, no, that's a really amazing thing because we've all grown up in an era where the dads were more outside of the home and or more absent. And that's not necessarily saying that they weren't a good parent, but at that, you know, when we were kids, it was dad provides, mom stays home, whatever. So I think that's a beautiful thing about being a millennial dad is that you guys are you work full time, you bust your ass, and then you also make sure you're you're so present. You make sure your kids know who you are, and they, you know, you often you will answer the phone if they ever need to be taken home from school sick or whatever. So it's a it's a really cool thing.

SPEAKER_04

Just to go off that, like kind of on a different tangent. That's like such a cool thing about this front group, though. Like obviously they're such strong parents for each kid, but then they also have such strong like aunts and uncles in a sense. Oh, yeah. So it's really cool.

SPEAKER_05

All of my kids, well, I only have two of them, I don't want to say all, but they call each and every one of you Uncle Dylan, Uncle Adam, Auntie Gabby, Auntie Taylor, Nicole, and Girl Carl. Shout out. Yeah, I think that we're very lucky that we have such a solid friend group that we all live very close to each other. And some might call us codependent, but I would think that we are there. I think people are jealous that we have such a tight group of friends. And my kids, I'm not I'm not gonna put them on blasts on the air, Adam, but we can talk about any other. People say that McKenzie. But this was so I think that yeah, my kids love all of you guys. And Noah asks pretty much every day if she can come to Charlie's house. Not your home, just Charlie's. Charlie owns the house. But yeah, I think they would, you know, any day would call you and when they can use a phone to be able to come over, or you know, if they are in trouble, they're probably gonna call their cool aunts and uncles instead of mom and dad to come pick them up when they're drunk for the first time.

SPEAKER_06

I will say, as an only child, I don't have obviously brothers and sisters. So, like this is like my family unit, you know. So an aunt and uncle for Bowie on my side, obviously we have it for Adam's side. So being like having aunts and uncles means a lot for me, probably more than Bowie will realize. Yeah, we'll make sure we'll make sure he'll realize it eventually.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, but it'll circle back. Yeah, for sure. For sure. No, definitely something I'm like so grateful for.

SPEAKER_05

Love you guys. What was the question again? I forgot.

SPEAKER_01

Well, your kids will remember you. Oh, yeah, sorry.

SPEAKER_04

He's ready to go.

SPEAKER_01

I was not thinking about it. Adam took mine, so I had to think of something else. You can say the same answer if you can.

SPEAKER_04

I think that was for me older.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, obviously that's really important to me. But I think as I think back to my childhood and and my parents were great, but depending on what I did, I would go to a different parent because of how I thought they would react. And I want my kids to know obviously aside of being able to go to their mother, I want them to know that whether they fail or succeed, they can come to me. Because I I always thought, like, oh, I did this, my dad would love that, or oh, I fucked up. I better let my mom know so she can ease my dad into, you know, whatever the case may be. But I just want them to know that they can come to me with anything, failures or succeeding.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, that's beautiful.

SPEAKER_01

Thank you.

SPEAKER_06

Great answer, yeah. I would also like that as my answer too.

SPEAKER_02

Can I adjust the camera so Gilbert is in the frame?

SPEAKER_01

Gilbuck.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. Never mind. Never mind.

SPEAKER_06

You don't want to be in the camera?

SPEAKER_01

I'm in the camera when I lean in and talk about the back of my head.

SPEAKER_06

The back of your head is ridiculous. The back of your head is ridiculous.

SPEAKER_02

Excuse me.

SPEAKER_04

Can I have your number?

SPEAKER_02

Can I have the digits that if entered telephonically would connect me to you?

SPEAKER_01

We'll just do Big Daddy for the rest of the show.

SPEAKER_04

And you, Adam.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my god. Next question.

SPEAKER_04

All right. Next question, gentlemen.

The Best Parts Of Fatherhood

SPEAKER_04

What is the best thing about being a dad so far?

SPEAKER_03

I didn't realize how fun it would be. It is so much fun watching him smile, watching him.

SPEAKER_05

Adam with the fucking emotions, I was like.

SPEAKER_03

The biggest thing is I didn't think I didn't know kids wouldn't react to you in a different way. Like say you come home and you're sad, you're mad, you're whatever. They're gonna act the same way. They don't know you know how to react to that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

And that's definitely like something that I didn't think of. I thought they would always, you know, understand basic human emotions from other people. That's something I had to learn.

SPEAKER_04

Kind of nice though. But because it kind of brings you back where you're like, okay, I'm not that upset, or I'm not that sad.

SPEAKER_05

Mm-hmm. And it also it can it will cheer you up. Like when you're feeling sh like upset or shitty about something at work and you're just like, you know, fuming on the way home, and then you come home and it's like all that's lifted when you see their face. And that's something that's if you don't have kids, you don't realize, like, I mean, when I see my dogs, when well, cupcake can't see me, but when the other ones see me, they they I used to get so excited, but it's like, and I used to say, like, oh, I love my dogs as much as kids.

SPEAKER_03

But like when you s when your kids see you and they just get so fucking excited when it just walking into daycare today, little man put his hands up randomly as fast as he can, like crawl run thing, whatever he's got going on.

SPEAKER_05

All the like heat is fast. Oh my god, that kid does, and it was fast. Yeah, Gabby and I went to the pool yesterday. Gabby brought a float, and then I brought a life jacket. Gabby and I like were fully prepared thinking our gear was gonna be great for our kids. And then Bowie's immediately trying to climb out of his float, and Cruz just laying there like a freaking frozen statue in the in the life jacket. So I was like, Gabby, do you want to trade? Because Bowie's gonna like flop no trade trade devices, trade, yeah, like lifesaver, like child protective flotation devices. Gabby, uh yeah, we traded everything because Bowie was gonna Bowie was trying to swim. He was trying to drown and like he was gonna fully chart learn how to swim, and crew fucking loved that float. We bought one, it came today. Oh, you got one? He loves it. He was like kicking his legs and shit.

SPEAKER_03

Didn't she have one?

SPEAKER_05

Like just oh yeah, I don't know what happened to her.

SPEAKER_04

And I I think I have it. Oh, there you go. I'm not bringing two kids to a pool by myself. Nothing sounds worse in my whole life.

SPEAKER_03

Well, well, noah's more. Right, you went my toe and Noah's more, you know. I'm not gonna jump out.

SPEAKER_05

Taylor has said that many times. She's like, there's nothing that I want to do less than like last summer. I was just like, come to the pool. And she's like, I'm not fucking bringing Charlie while I'm nine months pregnant to the pool. This sounds terrible.

SPEAKER_04

And this girl's like trying to send it off the deep, and then my whale ass is trying to get up and chase it.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. I could I wanted to help you, but I was also nine months pregnant.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, you guys were more pregnant. Yeah, I was.

SPEAKER_02

You go that way, I'll go to the same corner.

SPEAKER_04

She's still outspeeding.

SPEAKER_06

Charlie couldn't swim, but she would still outspeed. Okay.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, I think. My belly was pretty large. She'll be so big. So big big. Oh my god, that bitch. I hope she fucking best thing about being a dad.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, my answer is kind of what Katie said. Like, they're just like they're a level setter. Like I had a bad day recently, and I was really upset and like couldn't get myself to snap back out or out of it. And Taylor said, Here, grab Isla. And I picked Isla up and she smiled and she like kicked her legs and then and I grabbed my beard, and immediately, like, it just it didn't just make me smile, like my heart rate went down, my like nerves were settled, and it just made me like everything else melted away. And I was just like, This is the greatest thing ever. And so, yeah, the best thing about being a dad, like not the best thing, but one of the top things, one of the many good things is just like you always have something to level set, it'll make everything else go away, and you can immediately enjoy something so thoroughly and so fully. So that's I don't know if it's the best thing because there's so many great things. Like what Adam said is just is is true as well. So I don't know if I can ever figure out what the best thing is, but that's definitely up there.

SPEAKER_00

Oh you like hearing these. I do too.

SPEAKER_05

It's nice to like be able to like, you know, talk to you guys on this level and kind of hear the emotional things that because usually you guys are just like insulting me and or making fun of me. So it's nice to hear the side of you. Wait, didn't he already go?

SPEAKER_01

No. No. I gotta skip both of these questions. Oh fuck, sorry.

SPEAKER_04

I really thought go would be uh Chatty Kathy on here. I know.

SPEAKER_01

I'm just I don't wanna I don't want to jam up the mic, you know. I don't want to keep people talking about it. He doesn't want to steal the show. It's Sagittarius. I'm a guest, yeah. I'm a guest here. I'm a guest. Obviously, what what you two guys said is is huge, and those are really special things. I I'd have to say that someone thinking of you as a hero, as their hero, is just one of the best feelings. I when I go pick up Noah from daycare, she the yard is really big, and she they call her and she runs from the back. And it's like that. Have you ever seen those videos of like when you get to heaven, someone's waiting for you, and they have the dog like sprinting across the field. It's like she just comes running from the back with this huge smile on her face. Like she's so excited to see me. And no one does that for me. My dogs don't do it either.

SPEAKER_05

Well, cupcake doesn't know you're there. Yeah. But you know, she would if she could see you.

SPEAKER_01

My wife comes towards me if I've taken the garbage out, done the dishes, made dinner, but she That is absolutely not fucking true. My daughter and son unconditionally see me as their hero, and I hope it stays that way forever.

SPEAKER_04

I love it.

SPEAKER_01

Beautiful.

SPEAKER_04

Beautiful answer, gentlemen.

Girl Dad Boy Dad And Expectations

SPEAKER_04

We all have feeling. So, Dylan, obviously you are just the girl dad. Girl dad versus boy dad. Which is interesting because you're girl dad, boy dad, fitty fitty. Oh my god, it's like all different.

SPEAKER_00

It calls DJ Fitty Fitty.

SPEAKER_05

Do you want a boy, Dylan? Or are you like kind of like whatever happens, happens? Obviously, that's the only choice you get.

SPEAKER_02

I used to want a boy, and I still do, but I'm not as dead set on needing a boy. And I even thought that after I had Charlie. And then I was like, I hope the next one's a boy, really, just so I didn't, because I we know we wanted three. And so I was like, if number two is a boy, then there's not going to be any like hoping for number three. Yeah. Then we found out we were having Isla and we we have Isla, and now I've realized like I don't really care. It would be awesome to have a boy just so I know the differences. The main reason I wanted a boy is like all the typical things like you want an adventurer, you want someone to do boy stuff with. But I already know, like Charlie, just she'll try anything, and she's brave enough to try anything. And so if I can get her into one of my hobbies and she would do those with me, that's that's really all I wanted is someone to do hobbies with. And that's that's what I thought about when I wanted a boy, was I have so I have someone to do the things that I enjoy with. But just having someone to do things with, whether or not it's my hobby or their hobby, will bring me all the joy and happiness that I wanted anyway. So, yes, I would like to have a boy, but it's not, I don't feel that way as much as I used to. I know I'll have fun with Isla and Charlie and whatever our others are, no matter what, if they're a boy or a girl. Charlie's brave as can be, and so I know she's gonna try all my adventure stuff with me. I have a I have a pretty good feeling she's gonna really enjoy the. I already know she loves being outside. Like you guys all know. She wants to be outside. And that's all I care about is I want someone to do outside stuff with me. So, yes, I would like to have a boy, it would be great.

SPEAKER_04

So not cut in the grass.

SPEAKER_02

What do you mean we're not cutting the grass?

SPEAKER_04

Charlie Island I.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, no, that's that's fine. You guys don't need to cut the grass.

SPEAKER_05

Charlie will probably want to cut the grass.

SPEAKER_02

If she wants to cut the grass, she can, but I won't make her. That was a chore at my house that everyone did, no matter boy or girl. But it wasn't like my dad made her. I think she just enjoys it. It's her time. Yeah, you know, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm okay. Never mowed the grass in my life.

SPEAKER_01

I keep seeing these funny videos where moms with little kids mow the grass for the first time, and they've like unlocked this incredible thing. Like, why haven't I been doing that? Yeah, it's like I get three hours to sit on a mower. What the fuck? Three hours. Just wait. Whatever size lawn they have, an hour, two hours, three hours, you know, whatever the case may be, with your headphones on, sun tanning, no one can bother you. All you can hear is the mower. And they're like, My husband's been stealing this thing the whole time. Or on top of it. He can be inside with screaming toddlers while I'm out here just vibing for two hours.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, the hard yeah, the hard weed whack. Taylor tried it because of the same thing you just said. Yeah, and she did it for about 30 minutes, and she's like, Okay, I'm bored. Taylor's patience, she has the patience of a gnat. Like, she has zero patience, not even zero, less than zero, whatever that is. And she she made it about 30 minutes because she's like, wait a minute, you get you get you get two hours of quietness, podcast time, relaxing, and she's like, I want to try it. And so she did, and she was all set. But I I thought I thought for sure I was gonna lose that chore. When she said she wanted to do it, I'm like, she's gonna see how great this is, and I'm gonna lose this chore because it is that. It's nice. Back to the first question, the dad guilt. That's one of the things, too, mowing the lawn. And so that's why that's why when you guys come over and see my house and I have a jungle in my backyard, it's because I don't I feel guilty going on.

SPEAKER_05

He should hire Ricardo, he rocks.

SPEAKER_06

He does.

SPEAKER_03

Shut up. I I definitely feel that guilt as well.

SPEAKER_06

But he wouldn't ever let me mow the grass because I'd probably fuck it up.

SPEAKER_03

No, he could add the grass.

SPEAKER_04

No, I feel like it's hard because the things that I've we take the traditional roles, just that's like kind of how it's happened.

SPEAKER_02

Except I mop and I vacuum.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

That's a millennial dad. But yeah, guilt doesn't do all the cookings, though. We're changing the game.

SPEAKER_04

But I can do that with them around.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

And then obviously they can't be around on a mower.

SPEAKER_02

I don't think we're far away from Charlie sitting on my lap while we mow. Maybe she's not gonna do it for the whole two and a half hours, but she'll do the backyard or the front yard. I don't think that's why.

SPEAKER_05

I've seen so many. I know the horror. Yeah, my a friend of mine kid got ran over by a riding lawn mower and lost her like sorry.

SPEAKER_02

Grandma got run over by a reindeer.

unknown

No.

SPEAKER_04

Didn't you go to school with somebody that they called Potato Foot? Because he lost all these. Potato Foot? Because it was run over by a question for the gentleman.

SPEAKER_03

Before you go, did we finish what we were just talking about?

SPEAKER_04

Everybody does. This is you guys really keep us on sketch.

SPEAKER_02

What we want our kids to remember about us been a moment.

SPEAKER_04

Nope, that was like four questions because we were talking about girl dads. Oh, no.

SPEAKER_00

No, no, no.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, we have to see. Oh, you're right. It got all fucked up when Dylan stood up for pizza.

SPEAKER_03

I'll answer next. I want 85 boys. I got work to be done. Keep them coming. You have work to be done. Boys are for Warren, girls are for Torin. I I honestly thought about this a million times. I could not care if it is a girl or a boy. I would love another boy, and I would love it. Like I thought about it a million times.

SPEAKER_05

I think I have to see Adam as a girl that. That's what I was gonna say. I feel like a girl for Adam would I feel like it would just work. It would rock your world, but I think in the best way. Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Or so attached to that kid as is. Did if this this is a girl, man.

SPEAKER_02

I think he is gonna be in his anxiety level. Yes, his anxiety level is gonna go through the roof. His like protectiveness is gonna go through the roof.

SPEAKER_04

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_02

For sure.

SPEAKER_05

He's gonna fucking have like mom. Like, let me just like going out with my friends. They're just short. Yeah. They're to my knees.

SPEAKER_06

Like, hold on, let me get the scissors, I'll cut it.

SPEAKER_01

Or change it, or change religion. Put your mother's turban on to get back to the house.

SPEAKER_05

He's gonna be like, absolutely not, go fucking change. Return to Islam. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Having one of each has been awesome. I you know that it kind of completes things there. But I I have to say, I love having a boy so much, but I feel like having a boy didn't change me a lot in the way that I needed to learn to understand. Obviously, when you're in love with your partner, you try and learn as much as you can about them. But having a little girl stops. Having a little girl, I I had to learn to slow down and be patient and deal with you know constant changes in emotions. And constantly you had to learn.

SPEAKER_05

I'm sorry, Adam.

SPEAKER_01

It's different. Let me let me just explain. It's it's different from your spouse. It's you're learning about I thought you'd be a veteran. You're learning about a woman's soul from the ground up. And oh, that's a really good thing. They treat, you know, they they teach you patience.

SPEAKER_05

So deep. Where is this at? Well, we're gonna like. Let them go, let them cook, let them go. Let them cook.

SPEAKER_00

I'm sorry.

SPEAKER_01

No, I was just saying you they teach you about a woman's soul from the ground up, and you get to see kind of a range of emotions, and you learn kindness and patience, and it's it just really changes a guy because you just it's something you never understood growing up. You know, you're you're taught to be hard and you're prepared by your father in different ways that the world's gonna is kind of unforgivable on a man. You know, it's just a the the things you have to go through, you have to go through with toughness and and bury it down. But when it comes to being a good father to a girl, you have to change all of that and relearn and you have to become soft. And it's just uh it's it's quite an experience. So I, you know, having a boy, you know, I already have the emotions of, yeah, I have to teach him to be tough and you know, but but kind and respectful to people and yada yada. But with with having a girl, you have to change everything that you kind of once thought was the way to approach the world. So it's definitely an eye-opener, more of an eye-opener having a girl than a boy, I thought, in my opinion. But I'm so thankful to have both because it feels like it makes me a more well-rounded father.

Raising Tough Kids Without Shame

SPEAKER_04

Now, Gil, now now that you have a boy, do you feel like you'll raise him that same way of like you have to answer everything and toughness and like kind of how you just said that?

SPEAKER_01

It's a good question. I think yes and no would be my answer. I think that as a man, you kind of learn growing up and I this may upset some people, but you have to learn that the world doesn't really care about your feelings. So something only men listening to this can understand is the world doesn't care how you feel about things. So there is a certain level of toughness that you have to have as a man, and just learning how to get through things and be the backbone for your family and be strong no matter what. If you're the kind of husband that just turns into a puddle of tears at any time something gets tough, you're probably not gonna have a strong family unit and have your kids respect you as their hero and the backbone of the family and things like that. So uh to answer your question, Taylor, yes, I think there's a huge aspect of it that you have to train them how to be tough. And but I think there's it's not all tough love. I think you can teach them that it's okay to be kindness, it's okay to ask for help, and having humility is not weakness. I think that's a generational change from that. So I think it's just like a little bit of tweaking, but there's some things that just have always worked, and some things that need to be changed in the way boys are raised in the future.

SPEAKER_05

And I think it I mean, obviously I'm a woman, but I I think at least for me, it shows more manly and more it shows more strength when you're able to be vulnerable and open up and show your kids that or show your son at least, like being emotional isn't a weakness. Having being able to be open and communicate with your spouse and with your kids, those are not negatives. You know, I being a girl in a family with the boys and girls, it was my dad, he was much harder on my brother in a lot of ways. And you know, so now like as adults, like we're much closer to my dad than my brother is, and I think that, you know, I think it's important to make sure your kids know that you can be emotional with all of them and fight the gender.

SPEAKER_01

It's like I'm gonna teach you how to be tough, but I will also be your safe place, you know.

SPEAKER_04

No, that's a good way to put it. All right, now we're gonna give the guys a chance to kind of give it back a little bit.

Couples Game And Friendly Roasts

SPEAKER_04

We all know that we uh complain.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, we know hit it from the back.

SPEAKER_04

Around mid fire.

SPEAKER_06

All right. Be ready, Rainys. Let us know who's should we have an order going? Most likely to order something online at 11 p.m.

SPEAKER_02

Katie.

SPEAKER_06

I was gonna say the same thing.

SPEAKER_01

Katie every day.

SPEAKER_03

Every time I come over your house, I'm like stepping over Amazon boxes. Like, obviously, I have to go welcome.

SPEAKER_05

Anywhere else.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, I usually step on them.

SPEAKER_05

Oh my god. I don't like going to like stores, so I buy most of my shit on Amazon. Okay.

SPEAKER_06

Okay. Who is most likely to say I'm fine when she's not?

SPEAKER_03

Taylor. I would say yeah. I guess every woman would say in general. Yeah. So all of us, you know. All right. We get to hear that a lot.

SPEAKER_01

The female response.

SPEAKER_05

Well, yeah, I I'm really guilty of that. I'll say it. I like if I'm pissed off and don't want to talk about it. In rebuttal to that though, Katie, you wear your feelings on your face.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, you could say you're fine.

SPEAKER_02

Someone call that a resting bitch face. So do you though. I when you I I know when if you say you're fine, I know like it's so obvious if you're not. I'm like, okay, well, let's cut the bullshit. Let's cut the bullshit. Like, let's just get back. Let's just let's just talk about it.

SPEAKER_05

If I'm pissed, you know.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

I can change the fucking energy.

SPEAKER_02

Big old see you next Tuesday.

SPEAKER_05

I know. I just like I don't know why that is, though. I don't try to do it. I try to avoid that. You're a strong personality.

SPEAKER_03

Just call it being a bitch.

SPEAKER_02

I'm just gonna say that's that's another way of saying you're a Gil, you have any?

SPEAKER_05

Because Dylan called me a C U and T Jesus.

SPEAKER_02

No, I didn't. What does that mean?

SPEAKER_05

You just called me a C next Tuesday.

SPEAKER_02

I'm coming over to babysit Bowie next Tuesday, and so I was talking to him. I said, I'll see you next Tuesday, buddy.

SPEAKER_05

I'll see you next Tuesday. Okay. Well, all right, and Adam called me a bitch. So, Gil, you got anything about me?

SPEAKER_06

You guys are right. Okay. This one's Katie said, and moving on. Who's mostly to forget why she walked into a room?

SPEAKER_01

Katie.

SPEAKER_06

I'm gonna have to agree with that one.

SPEAKER_01

Who's most likely to knock something over when she walks in? Katie.

SPEAKER_05

Katie.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, yeah. I'm surprised. I'm like, thankfully we're up here, and if she knocks all these beers over, I won't care. I'm like, oh no problem.

SPEAKER_05

I was like, well, then why don't we hang out here more? Because this is a safe space for me to spill shit.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's very who's most likely to end up with their meal on their shirt? Taylor. Taylor.

SPEAKER_05

Taylor. I love that about her. We need to bring a backup shirt whenever we go places because she's a bib. Babe bibs.

SPEAKER_02

Babe bibs. Yo, that's a good idea for some merch. Momish babe bibs. Sponsored by Taylor.

SPEAKER_06

There you go. Is it what we're doing?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it's an adult bib.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. Oh Lord. Whose? I feel like this is all Gary. Oh god. I mean, who's most likely to make a target run and spend over a hundred dollars?

SPEAKER_03

Katie. Girls.

SPEAKER_06

Oh. You kept it low though.

SPEAKER_02

I just Taylor's only diapers? Taylor feels guilty about shopping. She's like, I want to buy this shirt, and I've been, it's in my cart forever, and I feel like I want to buy it. And I'm like, Taylor, I just spent $500 on dirt bike parts yesterday. Your shirt cost $30. Buy the shirt.

SPEAKER_05

$500 on dirt bikes parts. It's been a while.

SPEAKER_02

Since I have kids, I don't think crazy. Why would you do that? I don't make those orders. Wait, Mount Adam has $3,000 worth of RC cars in his gonna be like.

SPEAKER_05

I was gonna ask, are you still into that?

SPEAKER_02

We're good. I sold a lot of them.

SPEAKER_05

Oh my god.

SPEAKER_02

Bill's got a gun collection that costs $100 altogether.

SPEAKER_05

Just call them what they're what they are. They're fucking toys. They're remote.

SPEAKER_03

I was going through a midlife crisis, guys. No, it was a really cool one. Well, I like it.

SPEAKER_05

Are you planning to die at C?

SPEAKER_01

Could have bought a Miata, so count your blessing.

SPEAKER_03

I've got a hilarious story. I bought a jet ski at the age of like 20, and I felt like I was going through it.

SPEAKER_02

I know like the the goal right now is to roast the girls, and we can get back to that because it's super easy. But a really funny story, side story about Adam's RC car hobby. It's fun to make it fun and easy to make fun of for sure. But as a boy, like every kid loved RC cars as a kid. And like when you're a kid, you want like you want the really expensive cool ones that you can't afford because you don't have money and your parents won't buy them. So Adam did what we all want to do or wish we could do is spend the money on the really cool ones that like go super fire time climb on the streets. Exactly.

SPEAKER_03

The entire time I was like, I can't wait to spend this money on him or to have these nice ones or cooler ones. Yeah, but then you played with them more than he would.

SPEAKER_04

Well, no, he's or you sold them.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's the story. Sorry. Anyway, we Adam bought these really cool, expensive RC cars. They're super fun. We get to our beach trip last year, and immediately I was like, Adam, let's go play with the RC cars. So we go out into the driveway of or on Carolina Beach.

SPEAKER_04

And some women are worried that their men are out there cheating.

SPEAKER_02

No cars are not moving. We're out in the driveway. And Adam's Adam's current Adam's driving his like really fast RC car in the street, and we're in the middle of talking about how expensive it was. And I was like, and I was like, dude, Taylor would have my balls if I spent that much money on an RC car. And as I'm saying this, Adam drives it out into the street, and a car's coming, and he has minutes to make a move to get his RC car out of the road. And so he's trying to drive it out of the way, and of course, drives it directly under the wheels of a Jeep Wrangler. This is seconds after him telling me the price point, which is crazy. And I watch a Jeep Wrangler running over both wheels exploding. He pulled the car off of the street, and then as the car was coming, reversed right under the wheels. There's a hard time last thing.

SPEAKER_01

If you remember, though, he was on the sidewalk in safety as the Jeep approached. He could have taken his fingers off the controller, didn't put it back in the street, and then it got run out. That was the better part.

SPEAKER_03

Some things would have been really cool, some things don't end really cool, and that didn't end really well.

SPEAKER_04

I would just, I would like to say that we just opened the floor for you to roast us, and instead you guys are roasting each other. And it has to be a lot of people.

SPEAKER_02

Because we know if we roast you guys, we're gonna go home and it's gonna be like honor car rides. We drive home. Do you really think that about me?

SPEAKER_01

Like are you kidding?

SPEAKER_06

Oh my god, this is a safe space. Do you talk?

Pet Peeves And Home Life Friction

SPEAKER_06

Do you have like a pet peeve that I know this is gonna cause an argument? But yeah, what is your pet peeve for us?

SPEAKER_02

Taylor's patience. Taylor's patience. Taylor's patience. Yeah. None. And she doesn't ever wash anything before she puts in the dishwasher, which I understand dishwasher is to clean something. But Taylor will strike. Taylor will take a bowl of pasta, half eaten, and throw it in the dishwasher and then be like, why is our dishwasher making so much noise? Well, because it has more food than our garbage has in it.

SPEAKER_05

If I could wash the dish, then what's the point of the dishwasher?

SPEAKER_02

Just scrape the plate a little bit. It's not like me.

SPEAKER_05

Then just put it, yeah, put it in there. They come out fine.

SPEAKER_02

Put it in there, don't take care of it. Do they?

SPEAKER_05

But you don't. I'll say Dylan rinse them out like after the fact. Okay. That's when they come out fine. Taylor. I empty the dishwasher every day.

SPEAKER_04

I load it starting.

SPEAKER_02

But I have I load it. No, you don't empty it. I also have to fix the dishwasher though when it's broken.

SPEAKER_04

Well, I mean, it's been broken for two months, so it's it's working.

SPEAKER_02

I just want to remind you, you said this was a safe space. It is safe space. Exactly. Exactly. It's like shot fire.

SPEAKER_03

I'm just saying. I'm not disappointed.

SPEAKER_01

You're wrong.

SPEAKER_02

You're absolutely wrong.

SPEAKER_03

I'm fucking wrong.

SPEAKER_01

I'm entitled to your opinion, but you're wrong, and I hate you.

SPEAKER_05

What's your biggest? What's your pet peeve about me?

SPEAKER_01

God, I'm trying to narrow it now. I'm trying to trying to funnel it here into uh into one.

SPEAKER_05

Okay, what's your top three? Jesus.

SPEAKER_01

Top ten.

SPEAKER_06

This is the roast of Katie, actually.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. If you guys didn't know.

SPEAKER_01

One of my biggest pet peeves happened last night where I cooked dinner. I did that shit. I made plates for both of our kids, and you had the nerve to get up off the sofa, walk into the kitchen, and ask me why I didn't serve you also.

SPEAKER_05

No, I didn't. I was not, I didn't see that you had made food for the kids.

SPEAKER_01

I'm shopping on Amazon. Like I just made dinner and for us and the kids.

SPEAKER_00

No, I wasn't even referring to me, but okay.

SPEAKER_02

You're that or you're she said, she said, she goes, Oh yeah, I did that shit. I did this, and then proceeds to still defend herself.

SPEAKER_05

No, that's not when you're thought you were referring to me falling asleep on the couch last night.

SPEAKER_01

No, I don't really care. I know you need your sleep. One of the other ones is your protein shakes. Katie makes a protein shake before she goes to work. He hates it. And then she brings it home the next morning. And I have asked her over and over and over again, just rinse it out real quick. And she leaves it there all day. So one's the last thing I'm gonna do. When I go do the dishes and open it to rinse it, it smells like a dead body.

SPEAKER_05

No, it doesn't.

SPEAKER_01

The thing is, do you drink it and then leave it on the room?

SPEAKER_05

I drink it on the way so it's empty.

SPEAKER_01

But but but it's overnight.

SPEAKER_05

It's really not that bad. It's overnight.

SPEAKER_01

Smelly.

SPEAKER_05

And I most of the time do it because I don't want to hear his mouth. But sometimes I do, I'm so fucking tired in the morning that if it's not done, if I don't do it, it's because I am literally can barely get to the couch because I'm so tired. But it really doesn't smell that bad. I think you're being a little dramatic. But yes, I do do that shit. It's fine.

SPEAKER_01

You're not making me feel safe. She's owning up to it.

SPEAKER_05

I'm owning up to it.

SPEAKER_01

Owning up to it with a 12-minute defense.

SPEAKER_05

That was like again, the exaggeration.

SPEAKER_01

Owning up to it is, yeah, I did that. I'll I'll try to be better. I'm sorry.

SPEAKER_05

That's owning up to the exaggeration of time. That was like 30 seconds. Just throw the whole thing in there.

SPEAKER_03

Just don't even open it.

SPEAKER_02

Just throw it in there. On another note, I did learn about the uh, which we're gonna have to invest in this recently that Bosch makes a dishwasher that actually prefers it to be loaded with a lot of food and it works better.

SPEAKER_03

It's like, yes, please put shit in glue. Generally, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

That's that's how logical dishwashers are. This is a Bosch one that markets itself as you don't need to clean your dishes beforehand. It's basically a built-in garbage disposal with the floor.

SPEAKER_04

That's so crazy.

SPEAKER_02

Well, I think we need to invest in it if you're gonna put the whole plate of food in there.

SPEAKER_03

So I just it would need a garbage disposal in it to work. Maybe it does. I don't know if I don't fucking make it. So then it would have to pump like across to your sink.

SPEAKER_05

Dylan, I feel like it's like it's a fair trade that you bring, you probably like the fact that you guys don't have ants in your bed is probably a miracle because you eat full dinner plates.

SPEAKER_02

It's not a miracle. I eat all the food. There's no food for the ants to eat.

SPEAKER_05

No, I found a crumb on the floor and I was like, is this a cheese it? And she goes, Yeah, it's probably Dylan. It's a turf.

SPEAKER_02

We haven't had cheese in a long time.

SPEAKER_05

So Dylan.

SPEAKER_02

No, there's one thing you'll never find in my bed, and it's crumbs because I would lose my mind if the one crumb touched me while I was trying to sleep.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. That's that's what I asked me to do.

SPEAKER_02

I might eat in the bed, but no crumbs are in there.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, my favorite memory of Dylan is when we went to the beach for the first time. And Dylan and I are we say a plate and everybody's gone to bed. And we thought Dylan was asleep, gone for like 45 minutes, comes back upstairs in his underwear, and he's just like rummaging around the kitchen, just walks down, like walks the stairs with a giant plate of spaghetti. And we were like, What are you doing? And he's like, I'm about to go to bed. And I'm like, You have spaghetti in your hand. Why don't you eat it here in the kitchen? And he was like, No, I'm gonna eat it. But I'm like, the Taylor, I you were you were a saint because I would fucking lose it if Gil came in the bed and spaghetti.

SPEAKER_02

No, she only gets mad if it's if it's crunchy food. Like if I bring if I bring a pickle to bed, she's oh man.

SPEAKER_05

Or the turkey leg that you woke up with beside

Biggest Parent Arguments And Patience

SPEAKER_05

your bed.

SPEAKER_04

Oh okay, here's a good question. At like since you became parents, what was like the biggest disagreement or like argument our mornings, getting ready for work?

SPEAKER_05

You guys argue in the morning?

SPEAKER_03

Yes, at least four in the morning.

SPEAKER_05

Gil and Katie don't speak. We don't speak for at least two hours. You can't argue if you don't talk. Yeah. There you go.

SPEAKER_06

I had to get up at like four or four thirty and trying to get out the house on time.

SPEAKER_03

If you're waking up at 4 30, arguments are gonna happen no matter what. Like 4 30 in a week.

SPEAKER_05

Not if you don't speak.

SPEAKER_01

No one's happy at that hour.

SPEAKER_05

That's why we don't talk. Because there's nothing nice coming out of it.

SPEAKER_03

I I agree. I just yeah. I think you wanted your time with it in the morning, but which I understand, but I didn't think it was 100% necessary every day. Wait.

SPEAKER_06

So this is gonna cause an argument.

SPEAKER_03

You're right.

unknown

Uh-oh.

SPEAKER_05

Okay, next person. Gild, I don't know. What have our biggest arguments been? It's usually over something stupid.

SPEAKER_02

It's usually not something to do with the kids.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, this is specifically for the kids related. We don't argue about kids a lot.

SPEAKER_05

No, I don't.

SPEAKER_01

It's usually some dumb shit. Like our last argument was when I made a comment about you not washing your protein shake out.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, yeah, that's right.

SPEAKER_01

That was our last fight. Yeah. She's like, I just vacuumed the whole living room and you had the audacity.

SPEAKER_05

I did say that. And then we just didn't talk about it because we both know it was stupid.

SPEAKER_03

So we just here's something, here's something I want to talk about is that I feel like me and Gabby both have so much patience for Bowie. And we learn to give each other patience, him patience. But I feel like that sometimes we forget to give each other patience.

SPEAKER_06

We get stressed out.

SPEAKER_03

Trying to have patience for him. Well, yeah, you like it.

SPEAKER_01

And then we take rid of all your bandwidth on him. Yeah. Having patience for Adam is just a learned skill in general.

SPEAKER_05

I mean, I still haven't learned it, and we've been friends for how long? I don't know. I don't know what that's like. Being married to you, Gabby, is you're so strong, Gabby. You're so strong. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I would say ours related to the kids, which there's not much. I think the like really the only thing, and it's my fault, is I like I will, if Charlie's misbehaving, or really just Charlie, if Charlie's misbehaving or doing something, and I'm stressed, I'll forget to have like the patience part, and I'll go up and like Taylor, Charlie, put that down. Charlie, you can't have that. Put that down, give it back. And Taylor will be trying to make Charlie listen, and I'll forget the proper thing to do, and I'll just get up and go over there and take it from her. And Taylor's like, that's not how you do things. And I know that. And I usually don't do that, but then she'll like get mad at me, and I'm like, Well, I'm trying to help you. Like, I you were she wasn't listening to you, so I'm trying to help you. And she's like, Yeah, but it's not the right thing to do. So that's really the only thing that I can think of that's kids related.

SPEAKER_04

Dylan gets cranky. Dylan gets cranky when he it doesn't get sleep. No, but Dylan gets me.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I do. I get snappy.

SPEAKER_04

Do I get snappy?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. You're basically always snappy.

SPEAKER_05

Why not?

SPEAKER_03

You live in a snappy state. You get patience. You're not always snappy. I'm just thinking about it, Dylan.

SPEAKER_05

Thank you, Dylan.

SPEAKER_03

Sometimes you get soft. Sorry, I thought we were allowed to roast.

SPEAKER_05

No, it's fine. No, I'm not always snappy.

SPEAKER_01

I feel like I'm You're not always snappy. We were just kidding. You should have done this. You should have been, I'm not fucking snappy.

SPEAKER_04

What are these?

SPEAKER_06

You see Arcade on snapped the show, you know.

SPEAKER_04

All right, now to end our episode on a hike.

Advice For New Dads

SPEAKER_04

What is one piece of advice or thing that you would say to a friend or a new dad?

SPEAKER_02

Embrace it. All of it. It's gonna be the best thing in the world. Yes, it's late nights. Yes, it's harder than anything you'll ever do, but it is like it's not corny to say it, and it's not cliche, or maybe it is, but it's true. Like it is the greatest thing in the world. Like nothing, it's the both the hardest thing you'll ever do and both easiest thing you'll ever do because you love it so much. So just embrace it, go all in. Don't wait for the perfect time. I have friends that are waiting to be in the right time of life. Like we were in a good place when we had kids, but if I had met you years before and we had the relationship we had, I I would give myself that advice. Have your kids because you will, as long as you're not living on the streets, you're gonna find a way. And it's yeah, it is the best thing in the world. So embrace it, do it, go for it, don't wait for the right time because you will you promise you you'll regret every day that you waited once you have kids.

SPEAKER_05

There's never a perfect time either. There's always gonna be some excuse you can make, yeah, you know, so just do it. Yeah, just have sex, not on the second.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, mine would also definitely be don't wait. Don't wait for perfect time. It's don't listen to people. They're gonna tell you, oh, every person I have talked to saying, you know, as soon as we're having a kid, oh, your life's over. No, my life just started. This is the and this is yeah, this might just be a construction site thing, but it's always like, oh, the kids were one. And and I'm like, dude, you fucking suck as a person. Yeah, fuck the fucking I am friends.

SPEAKER_01

Maybe you're a shitty dad.

SPEAKER_02

Would say things like that. I'm like, you're just either like a bad parent, you're not meant to be a parent, or or you're not looking at it from the right angle. Yeah. I I have friends that would like complain about like, oh, dude, it's it's so hard. I I never sleep. It's I don't have any free time to do anything. You've you find free time to do things, especially if you have the right partner. But I had another friend on the same note tell me one time, yes, it's hard, yes, there's late nights, yes, there's tough days, but there's nothing better in the world. Like you might have a kid that cries all night long and it might be hard while they're a kid, but that goes away. And at the same time, there's nothing better than the feeling when you go into their room of a crying kid who's hysterical and their world lights up when you walk in the room. And they put their hands up to it. You are the only thing on the planet that is gonna fix them in that state, and it's just so empowering.

SPEAKER_03

You like I wish I had someone say that to me because not a single person ever said that. It was all that's a little bit more than that. No, no, no, no, no. I want to be very clear. That's besides you two. Just anyone that I dealt with on a day-to-day basis was just pure this year work friends.

Do Dads Need A Dad Community

SPEAKER_04

I have a question for you guys. This is something I'm just gonna say.

SPEAKER_03

That's why you guys have never met them. There you go.

SPEAKER_04

No, it's kind of off the script, but like we obviously started a podcast just to kind of talk through, and but we like obviously like being a mom is a community in itself, and we like lean on each other a lot. And I mean, we started a podcast for that exact reason to just like navigate motherhood. Do you feel like you guys like do the same thing as dads?

SPEAKER_02

Not in the we don't talk about it in the group chat, but we talk about it in person. Like when we're hanging out, we'll talk about like, oh, Charlie did this, Bowie did this, Noah did this. So yeah, I would say it, I would say in in person we talked about it a lot, not so much in the group chat. Group chat's more like funny jabs, cool stuff, cool videos. But I would say when we're hanging out, like either yeah, shooting like going shooting or sitting outside when we're all hanging out, having beers away from you guys.

SPEAKER_04

But not just talk about your kids, but like like I remember when I was trying to breastfeed, like I kept calling Katie. I'm like, how do you do this? What do you do? This how do I is this the right thing? Did you guys like do you kind of like lean on each other as dads or no?

SPEAKER_02

I don't know, not so much. I feel like I feel like we kind of all just sounds cocky as shit, but I feel like we kind of all have like decent instinct and more so like confirm it with one another, if anything, or like it comes up in story and we make note of it. But I yeah, I would say like maybe not leaning on each other, but I don't know, confirming it really, if anything.

SPEAKER_05

I could say, like, well, I mean, I guess I don't know what it's like to be a dad, but I feel like with being a mom, you know, there's a lot of things that like, you know, that are instinctual for us, but then there's so many things that I feel like need to be talked about more, and that we are you just kind of are left to fend for yourself. So I feel like we we leaned on each other a lot more with that kind of thing, where it's like breastfeeding and pumping and like what did you try? Did you try this? Blah blah blah. So, like, you know, with with dad, I don't know, maybe with dads it's a little different.

SPEAKER_03

I think I think we rely on you guys a lot.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's true. That's that's very true. I think rather than go to each other, we go to you guys. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I I think Gilbert gave good advice to both Adam and I before we had kids. Like, I know he told me multiple things when Taylor was pregnant with Charlie, and then I remember him saying, like, giving Adam multiple bits of advice when Adam was not pregnant when he was expecting to have Bowie. In terms of advice, we rely more on you guys.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. All right, Gil, what would you tell Ningan? What's your advice? What's your bit?

SPEAKER_01

I would say, you know, and Katie and I talk about this a lot, but the biggest thing is you just have to keep in mind that the days are long, but the years are short. I mean, we're getting ready to celebrate the first birthdays coming up here. Yeah. I mean, Bowie and Crew and Isla are about to turn one. And you know, when you're in the tough you're in the tough parts in the beginning, it's it's the trenches, but uh all I can tell you is is don't blink because it's gonna be over before you know it. And we love the you know, it's from Modern Family when Jay talks about You just talked about when Jay talks about every every phase of life comes and goes, you know, they're they're newborns, and then you have you know toddl that ask these curious questions and learning to talk, and they go from you know, sitting in your arms like a potato to crawling across the floor, and you know, crew and bowie and eyelid now they're you know sprinting in their walkers, banging into walls, and they're all about to start walking, and it's just every every phase of it that day feels long, and there's there's hard nights, there's arguing, but you blink and they're one and then they're two, and Noah's in preschool, and you know, it's I'm gonna see her getting on a bus before I know it. You can't go on a bus? No, but you know you know what I mean. It's just just like Dylan said, just live in that moment because it's it's one of the it's one of the fastest good times I've experienced in my 36 years of life. It just no time flies like watching them grow. So just be present.

Father’s Day Thanks And Closing

SPEAKER_04

Well, with that, we will wrap up.

SPEAKER_02

I thought we were doing we'll be back, guys.

SPEAKER_05

Well, I just thank you so much. Yeah, I want to. And happy Father's Day. I know it may not feel like it sometimes, but we do appreciate all of you, even you, Adam. I appreciate you. Very grateful for the strong men that are in the house. Because we wouldn't be able to do it without you. Not the whole obviously the baby making part, but like the rest of it. We we love to have you and uh we appreciate you, and happy father's day. Happy first Father's Day, Adam.

SPEAKER_01

Thanks. Happy first, buddy.

SPEAKER_04

And just remember, motherhood isn't perfect, neither are we. Laugh, swear, hug your kids, sip your drink, your momish, and that's it.
