When you walk through your front door at the end of the day — do you exhale? Or do you hold your breath?

Your home is either filling you up or draining you. Most of us haven't stopped long enough to notice which one it is. And in a reset month, that's worth paying attention to.

This is week three of The Reset series, and we're getting practical about your space — the environment you come home to every single day.

In this episode we talk about:
• Why a chaotic environment creates a chaotic inner life — the connection between your space and your peace
• Simple daily home rhythms that reduce the mental load (without overhauling everything)
• The difference between a clean house and a restoring home
• How to create intentional spaces that feel like a deep breath when you enter them
• The one space you can reset this week

Key scriptures: Proverbs 17:1 · 1 Corinthians 14:33 · Proverbs 31:27 · Colossians 2:7

This is not about a perfect house. It's about a peaceful one. This episode includes a declaration, journal prompts, and a closing prayer over your home and your space.

This episode is also the beginning of something exciting — stay tuned at the end for a hint about what's coming in July.

It is hard to think clearly, hard to pray, hard to rest, hard to hear God. Your environment is always communicating something to your nervous system. Order communicates safety. Chaos communicates threat. Even low grade visual clutter creates a low grade hum of anxiety in your mind. The Nova Coat Podcast is a faith-filled lifestyle podcast for women who desire clarity, peace, and alignment in their everyday lives. I'm your host, April Nova Sipio, and I'm so glad that you're here. If you are brand new to the podcast, welcome, not just to the podcast, but welcome to the community. And I want to invite you to hang out with us. We are Nova Community. You can find out more information using the link in the show notes of this episode. But I would love to hang out with you, connect with you, support you. We are a group of women and we are building rhythms together that support us moving forward in our God-given assignments. We're building authentic friendships, center around God's word. And I would love for you to be a part of that. There is definitely space for you there. Please subscribe to the podcast as well so you don't miss an episode. We are three weeks now into our deep breath together. So I'm excited about today. Week one, we talked about our bodies. And then last week it was primarily geared toward our souls. And this week we're getting practical in a different way. We're talking about your home, your space, the environment you come home to every single day. And I just want to remind us that I am in this with you. Okay, so I am not talking at you. I'm not judging what rhythms you do or don't have. What I'm saying is I need this too. So I want you to know we are in this together. And I want to start with the question: when you walk through your front door at the end of the day, do you exhale or do you hold your breath? Your home should be a place that restores you, not adds to your stress, not reminds you of everything you haven't done, but actually restores you. And for a lot of women, that's not the reality right now. And today we're going to talk about why and what you can do about it without overhauling everything. That was for me, you guys, without overhauling everything. I am known for just an all or nothing kind of situation, mentality, whatever you want to call it. I had to learn that everything doesn't have to be fixed at one time. And so I'm excited about this conversation today because it's gonna help us. It's gonna help us have peace in our homes. And so Proverbs 17:1, it says, better a dry crust eaten in peace than a house full of feasting with strife. Peace in our home matters, you guys. It matters to God, and it's not superficial, it's not just about aesthetics. The atmosphere of your home shapes your inner life. And this month, we're resetting both. So grab your journal. I'm believing God's gonna speak to you today, beyond what I say, and it's gonna be such a good conversation where we can grow together. I want to say something that I think a lot of women feel, but don't say out loud. When your home is cluttered, when there are piles on the counter and laundry on the chair, and dishes in the sink and things that need doing everywhere you look, it is hard to think clearly, hard to pray, hard to rest, hard to hear God. Your environment is always communicating something to your nervous system. Order communicates safety, chaos communicates threat. Even low-grade visual clutter creates a low-grade hum of anxiety in your mind. I am definitely not saying your house has to be perfect because that's just not even realistic. Okay. I'm absolutely not saying that. I'm saying there is a connection between the space you live in and the peace you carry. And most of us have never stopped to examine that. I know for me, one of the rooms in my house that gets messy the quickest is my office because I spend a lot of time there. I spread out my things there, and so so many days I'll walk in and I'm like, um, before I do anything, I need to put this place back together. Real life story. Just today, before recording this podcast, I walked into my office and I was like, oh my word, I need to clean this place up. I need to put my things away and organize because it affects me. Now, the good news is you don't have to overhaul everything. The restart starts, the restart starts. Maybe I should say reset. Here we go. Okay. The reset starts with awareness, noticing what in your environment is draining you, and then making one small change, just one small change. First Corinthians 14, 33, it says, For God is not a God of disorder, but of peace. Order is such a reflection of God's character, and when we create order in our homes, even imperfectly, we are in some small way reflecting Him in our spaces. So here's what I found. The women who have peaceful homes are not the ones who clean for hours on weekends. They're the ones who have simple daily rhythms that keep things from piling up in the first place. It's the difference between maintenance and recovery. Recovery is exhausting. Maintenance is sustainable. A morning reset before you leave the house or start your workday, five to ten minutes, right? Like make your bed, clear the kitchen counter, put away anything that's out of place. That's it. It's starting your day in an ordered space and it sets the tone for everything that follows. So I want you to think about having a morning reset. Now, think about having also an evening window. This is the one I know for sure that I need to work on. Before you go to bed, just a quick 10-minute little pickup, tidy up, cleanup, whatever you want to call it, right? You got the dishes done, things are put back, tomorrow's coffee or tea supplies are ready. Okay, you know, for me, I'm like, okay, is my tea pot ready to go? There is something deeply settling about waking up to a clean space. You you are not starting starting the day like already behind. So a morning reset is great, an evening window is great. I also want to encourage you just to work on one room at a time when you're doing this. If the whole house feels overwhelming, pick one room, just one. The room where you spend the most time, or the one that's been like nagging at you. Reset that space this week. Make it somewhere that you actually want to be and hang out in. And here's something I want to add: your home rhythms don't have to be about cleaning, they can also be about creating a candle you light in the evenings, a specific playlist that signals rest, fresh flowers on your table because they make you happy. Small things that tell your body this space is for you. This space is safe. I have a friend, her name is Kelly Ramsey, who is so, so good at this. I am going to put her information in the show notes of this episode so you can go and see some of the things that she creates in some of the spaces that she's in. She's so good about the creating part when it comes to like making a space feel good. So definitely go check her out. And Kelly, if you're listening, hey, Proverbs 3127. It says, she watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Watching over your household is not about perfection, it's about intentionality. Tending your space with care, not because someone might see it, but because you live there and you deserve to come home to peace. Beyond tidiness, I want to talk about creating spaces in your home that are intentionally restorative. Places that feel like a deep breath when you walk into them. For me, that's my morning spot. The chair where I have my tea, my journal, my Bible, everything I need is there. The lighting is soft, it's quiet. And when I sit down in that chair, my body knows, okay, this is where I meet with God. This is where I slow down. What would that space look like for you? It doesn't have to be a dedicated room. Maybe it's a corner of your bedroom, a spot at your kitchen table, a chair by a window. It does not have to be elaborate. It just has to be intentional. Clear it out, make it yours, put something there that brings you joy. A candle, a plant, your journal, a devotional, and protect that space. Let it be the place you return when you need to take that deep breath. Your home is not just four walls and a roof. It is the container for your life, for your family, for your rest and your work and your worship. It deserves your attention, and so do you. Colossians 2.7, it says, Let your roots grow down into him and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness. The deeper your roots in God and rhythm in a home that restores you, the more you will overflow. And that overflow is what you pour into the people and the assignment God gave you. So your one thing this week is find your spot. The one space in your home you want to you want to feel like a deep breath, like you want it to feel clear and intentional. Put one thing there that brings you joy or peace. And then use that space. Make your tea, bring it into that space, open your journal, pray there, let that space become yours. One space this week. That's it. All right, we're gonna say our declaration today. I'm gonna say a line, you're gonna repeat after me. We are speaking truth over ourselves today. So here we go. My home is a reflection of what I value. I choose peace over perfection. I take care of my space with intentionality, not guilt. I create order, not to impress others, but to honor myself and my family. Alright, here are our journal prompts for this week. Number one, when I walk into my home, what do I feel? When I walk into my home, what do I feel? And then what is my environment communicating to my nervous system right now? What is my environment communicating to my nervous system right now? Okay, our second little set of questions is this. What is one space in my home that consistently drains me? What is one space in my home that consistently drains me? And what would need to change to make it restorative instead? What would need to change to make it restorative instead? And the last set, what does my ideal deep breath space look like? What does my ideal deep breath space look like? And what one small step can I take this week to begin creating it? What one small step can I take this week to begin creating it? I want to pray for us today. I know God has so many good things for us this week as we prepare our homes to be that deep breath space. Heavenly Father, thank you so much for the gift of home, for a space to rest and to gather and to ultimately meet with you. We don't take that for granted, Lord. And God, we ask you to just be with us today, walk through every room with us, show us what needs attention, not to overwhelm us, Lord, but so we can be free. Father, give us wisdom about where to start and the grace to not demand perfection from ourselves. Help us to create spaces, Lord, that reflect your character, marked by peace, order, beauty, and rest. Father, let our homes become sanctuaries, not just for people that we love and serve, but for our own souls, Lord. Help us to just take a deep breath when we walk through our front door and let our home restore us so that we can keep pouring out. God, thank you for this today. We love you, we honor you, and we praise you in Jesus' name. Amen. Amen, guys. I love you so much with the love of Christ. Before I go, there are just two things I want to share with you. First, my free guide. Five daily rhythms that change everything. It covers the practical rhythms I use every single day to stay grounded, including a productivity rhythm that will help you in your home and your work. So the link is in the show notes. It's completely free. Go grab that today. And then, secondly, I want to give you a small heads up. Something is coming in July that I am genuinely excited about. I build you guys, and I've been building something for women who are ready to stop doing this alone. Um, to have a mentor and a circle of women walking alongside of them. So I'm gonna be sharing details about that very soon. So stay close. And then next week, we are talking about relationships. I hope you come back. We're gonna be talking about investing in the people who matter and really resetting how we show up for them. I I feel like it's gonna be a great conversation. So make sure you subscribe to the podcast so you don't miss it. If this episode inspired you in any way, share out on socials and tag me at AprilNova Sipio. Can't wait to connect with you in the community this week. Until then, go find your spot, make yourself some warm tea, take that deep breath, and I'll see you soon again. This is April Nova Sipio, and this is how we live faith first rhythm always. Be blessed. Love you guys.
