Money is personal, and trusting God with it can feel challenging.
In this episode of FaithFuel, Bob Shaw talks about giving and tithing in a way that removes pressure and focuses on trust. God doesn’t need what we have—but He does invite us to trust Him with it.
If you’ve ever wrestled with where to start or how to approach giving, this episode offers clarity and encouragement you can actually use.
Talking about money can feel uncomfortable, but what if it's actually one of the clearest places we can learn to trust God? I'm Bob Shaw, and this is Faith Fuel. Money is personal, and for a lot of people, it's also a source of stress. So when the topic of giving or tithing comes up, it can bring up a mix of thoughts, uncertainty, hesitation, maybe even a little resistance, and that's understandable. Malachi three ten says, Bring all the tithes into the storehouse. If you do, says the Lord of Heaven's armies, I will open the windows of heaven for you. That's one of the few places in Scripture where God actually invites His people to trust Him in a very specific way. Not because He needs anything from us, but because we need to learn to rely on Him. Everything we have already comes from Him. Giving is simply recognizing that. Now when it comes to tithing, you'll often hear the ten percent idea, like ten percent of your income. Well that comes from the word tithe, which literally means tenth. For some people, that feels like a big step. And if you're not there right now, don't let that stop you from starting somewhere. This isn't about pressure. It's about trust. You can begin with what you're able to give and grow from there. Second Corinthians 9 7 says, you must each decide in your heart how much to give. God loves a person who gives cheerfully. This isn't about obligation. It's about your heart. It's about saying, God, I trust you with what you've given me. And that includes your finances. And yes, God cares about your needs, food, clothing, a place to live. Those are real everyday concerns. And Jesus made it clear, your Father knows you need these things. So giving isn't about losing something, it's about placing what you have into God's hands and trusting Him to provide. Lord, thank you for providing for us in every area of our lives. Help us trust you with what we have, even when it feels difficult. Give us a willing heart, free from pressure, and confident in your provision. In Jesus' name, Amen. Well, if this brought a little clarity for you, there's a good chance it will for someone else too. Feel free to pass it along. And follow the Faith Fueled with Bob Shaw podcast wherever you listen for practical biblical encouragement you can live out every day. Until next time, peace and joy.
