Why is it so easy to talk about everything… but not Jesus?
In this episode of FaithFuel, Bob Shaw talks about the fear many believers feel when it comes to sharing their faith. Looking at Romans 1:16 and Jesus’ call in Matthew 28, this devotional reminds you that it’s not your job to change hearts—that’s God’s work.
Your role is simple: be willing, be honest, and share what Jesus has done in your life.

Why is it so easy to talk about everything else, but not Jesus? I'm Bob Shaw, and this is Faith Fuel. It's interesting how easily we talk about certain things, right? Your weekend, your favorite movie, something funny that happened. You don't even think about it. You just share it. People have no problem spreading the gospel of Netflix. You find a show you like, and suddenly you're telling everybody they need to watch it. But when it comes to Jesus, something changes. You hesitate. You start thinking it through. You wonder what to say, or if you should say anything at all. And I'll be honest, I'm just as guilty. And if you stop and look at it, a lot of that comes down to fear, fear of saying the wrong thing, fear of being judged, fear of how someone might respond, or maybe just not wanting to make things uncomfortable. So instead of saying something, we clam up. Romans 1 16, for I am not ashamed of this good news about Christ. It is the power of God at work. That verse takes the pressure off because your job is not to save anyone. That's God's job. You can't change a heart. You can't force someone to believe. You can't talk someone into salvation. That's the work of God. Our role is much simpler than that. Be willing, be honest, share what He's done in your life. That's it. The power isn't in how well you explain it. It's in the message itself. And that's where we start to overthink it. We think we need to have the perfect words, the right timing, answers to every possible question. But that's not what God is asking from us. He's not asking us to be an expert. He's asking us to be available, to be real, to say, here's what God has done in me. Jesus said in Matthew twenty eight to go and make disciples. That's not a command to perform. It's an invitation to be part of what he's already doing. God is already at work in people's lives. You're not starting something from scratch. You're stepping into something he's already begun. So if fear has been holding you back, you're not alone. A lot of people feel that. But this doesn't have to be complicated. It can be as simple as a conversation, a point where you choose not to hold back and trust God with the rest. Father, thank you for the gospel and the work you've done in our lives. Help us not to be held back by fear or overthinking. Give us the courage to speak when the opportunity comes and the wisdom to trust you with the outcome. And remind us that the power is in your truth, not in our delivery. In Jesus' name. Amen. If this is something you've struggled with, and I know we all have, there's a good chance someone else has too. Feel free to share this with them. And follow the Faith Field with Bob Shaw podcast wherever you listen for encouragement rooted in God's Word that helps you live out your faith. Until next time, peace and joy.
