Jesus didn’t leave room for options—He said He is the only way.
In this episode of FaithFuel, Bob Shaw walks through John 14:6 and what it means when Jesus says He is the way, the truth, and the life. While that statement can feel exclusive, it actually points to something deeply loving—God made a clear way for us to come to Him.
This episode also addresses the strong reactions people have to that claim and reminds believers that our role isn’t to win arguments, but to share what Jesus has done in our lives.

Jesus did not leave room for options. He said he is the only way. I'm Bob Shaw, and this is Faith Fueled. There are a lot of different opinions about Jesus. Some see him as a great teacher, some see him as an example to follow, some see him as one option among many. But then you hear what Jesus actually said about himself, and it forces you to deal with it. John 14 6 says, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. Certainly isn't vague. It's not open to interpretation. Jesus didn't say he was a way, he said he was the way. And for some people, that can feel uncomfortable. It sounds exclusive, like it shuts out every other path because it does. And for some, it goes even further than that. It makes them angry. How can you say that? How can Jesus be the only way? Well, that reaction doesn't change what's true. If anything, when I see that kind of response, it reinforces it for me. There's something about the name of Jesus that hits people differently. But what Jesus said isn't shutting people out. It's giving a clear way in. Think about it. If there were a hundred different ways to get to God, you'd spend your whole life wondering if you picked the right one, trying to figure it out, hoping you didn't miss it. Jesus removes that uncertainty. He doesn't leave you guessing. He says, Here is the way. That's not limiting. It's loving. Acts 4.12 says, There is salvation in no one else. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. Again, not restrictive, but definitive. God didn't leave us to figure this out on our own. He made a way through Jesus. And if you believe that, this isn't something you're trying to prove. It's something you hold on to, something you're grateful for, because you're not left wondering how to reach God. You don't have to earn your way there, you don't have to piece it together. The way has already been made. And when you come across someone who pushes back on that or even gets angry, your job isn't to win an argument. You're not the one who changes their heart. That's God's work. Your role is simple. Share what Jesus has done in your life. Be honest, be unafraid, and trust God with the rest. Lord, thank you for making a way for us through Jesus. Thank you that we're not left trying to figure it out on our own. Help us hold on to this truth with confidence and gratitude, and help us share it with others in a way that reflects your heart. In Jesus' name. Amen. If this helped you see that verse in a different way, pass it along to someone who might need that reminder. And follow the Faith Fueled with Bob Shaw podcast wherever you listen for encouragement rooted in God's word that strengthens your faith. Until next time, peace and joy.
