Let's talk about your job for a second. Does it matter to God? I'm Bob Shaw, and this is Faith Fuel. Your job takes up a big part of your life. For some, it's something you enjoy. For others, it's just something you have to do. Either way, it's easy to separate your work from your faith. Colossians 3 verse 23 says, Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart as working for the Lord, not for people. That verse should change how you look at your job. Not just what you do, but how you do it. I've seen both sides of this. Back in the recession of 1991, I know I'm old. I was newly married back then, had a college degree, couldn't find a job, and out of desperation I took a position selling copiers, and I hated it. It was the worst job I've ever had. And instead of trusting God through it, I bailed. I quit without having anything lined up. Yeah, there were consequences. And looking back, I could have handled that differently. I could have stayed, trusted God in the middle of it, and allowed him to use me, even in a job I didn't like. It didn't have to be permanent, but it still had purpose while I was there. And that's the part we miss. We think purpose only shows up when everything lines up just right. The right job, the right situation, the right timing. But God doesn't work that way. Wherever you are, there's an opportunity to live out your faith. Even in a job you enjoy, it's easy to slip into routine and forget that it still has meaning beyond a paycheck or success. The way you work, the way you treat people, the way you handle responsibility, that's where your faith is lived out. Matthew 5 verse 16 talks about letting your light shine so others can see it. That doesn't just happen at church. It happens in everyday life, at work, in conversations, in how you respond under pressure. And this is part of why you're there. Jesus told us in the Great Commission to go and make disciples. For most of us, that doesn't happen on a stage. It happens in everyday life, through relationships, the people you see every day at work, your neighbors. Your job isn't separate from your faith. It's one of the main places it shows. Lord, help us see our work differently. Whether we enjoy it or struggle through it, remind us that it still matters to you. Teach us to work in a way that reflects you. In how we show up, how we treat others, how we handle what's in front of us. Use us right where we are. In Jesus' name. Amen. Take a look at where God has you right now, and don't miss the purpose in it. For more encouragement like this, follow Faith Fuel and keep it part of your day. I'm Bob Shaw. Peace and joy.
