There are times when your walk with God feels strong—and other times when it feels dry, routine, or stuck.

In this episode of FaithFuel, Bob Shaw talks about what it means to go through a spiritual desert. Looking at Galatians 6:9 and Philippians 1:6, this devotional reminds you that those seasons are not unusual, and they don’t mean God has stopped working.

If your spiritual life feels like it’s not moving forward, this episode will encourage you to keep going and trust what God is doing.

Ever feel like your walk with God just isn't going anywhere? Well, let me give you a little encouragement. I'm Bob Shaw, and this is Faith Fuel. There are seasons in your relationship with God where things feel strong. You feel connected, engaged, like you're growing. And then there are other times where it just feels stuck. You're still believing, you're not walking away from your faith, but it doesn't feel like you're moving forward either. Galatians 6 9 says not to grow weary in doing good, because at the proper time, you will reap a harvest if you don't give up. That's a good reminder, especially in seasons like this. Sometimes it feels like you're in a spiritual desert. Things feel dry. You're doing what you've always done, reading your Bible, praying, going to church, but it doesn't connect the way it used to. It can start to feel routine, like you're just going through the motions. And that can wear on you. And the truth is, that's not unusual. Most people go through seasons like that at some point. You're not the only one. You even see it in Scripture. David wrote about feeling dry, distant, asking God how long it was going to feel that way. So this isn't something new. Now there can be different reasons for seasons like this. Sometimes it's something you need to deal with. Other times it's just part of the process. God may be doing something in you that you don't fully see yet. So don't overthink it. Just take an honest look and then keep going. You might still wonder why it doesn't feel the same anymore. But not every season of growth feels like growth. Sometimes it just looks like consistency. Reading your Bible, praying, sticking with it even when it feels routine. Philippians 1 6 reminds us that God, who began a good work in you, will carry it on to completion. That means He's still working, even in those dry seasons. And that's where trust comes in. It's easy to stay engaged when everything feels strong. It's harder when it doesn't. But that doesn't mean nothing's happening. It just means this season looks different. Even in a desert, something is still going on beneath the surface. So if you're in one of those stretches right now, don't assume something's wrong. If you recognize something you haven't dealt with, deal with it. Bring it to God. But if you can't put your finger on it, stay with it. Keep at it. God hasn't stopped working. Lord, for anyone going through a dry season right now, help them not lose heart. When it feels like nothing is changing, remind them that you're still at work. Give them the strength to stay consistent and trust you through it. In Jesus' name, Amen. If your walk with God feels a little stuck right now, stay with it. You're not as far off as it feels. Keep faith fuel in your routine and check back in for the next one. I'm Bob Shaw. Peace and joy.
