Starting something is easy. Finishing it? That's the hard part. I'm Bob Shaw, and this is Faith Fuel. It's easy to start something with good intentions. You're motivated, you're focused, and ready to follow through. But somewhere along the way, that momentum can fade. Luke 16 10 says, Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much. A good reminder, especially when it comes to the small things we start and don't always finish. Think about New Year's resolutions. At the beginning of the year, people are all in, going to the gym, eating better, reading their Bible more, getting organized. It feels strong for a few weeks, but a month later, a lot of that starts to fall off. And it's not always because you don't care. Sometimes life gets busy. Sometimes you lose focus. And sometimes you just don't feel like it anymore. Ever say yes to something someone asks you to do? And right after you say yes, you're thinking, why did I just agree to that? You don't want to do it, but it's too late. You already said yes, and now you've got a choice. You can back out or you can follow through. I've been thinking about this watching my son Nick. He's just about to finish his teacher credential program. If you're a teacher, you know how tough that is here in California. It's demanding, time consuming, and there's a lot to it. When you step back and look at it, he's been in school for about twenty two years nonstop. Kindergarten all the way to now. That's a long time. And there were points along the way where he just wanted to quit. It got hard. It got tiring. It would have been easy to walk away. But he didn't. He stayed with it, and now he's almost done. And I can tell you, he's going to be an excellent teacher. That's what finishing looks like. Not perfect, not always motivated, just staying with it. Hebrews 12 1 talks about running with perseverance the race marked out for us. That's all about continuing when you don't feel like it. Because motivation comes and goes. Faithfulness stays. And you see this in everyday life. Things you started and let go, commitments you made, even time with God that started strong and faded. So if there's something you've let slide, don't beat yourself up over it. Pick it back up and keep going. Because finishing what you start shapes who you're becoming over time. Lord, help us be faithful in the things we start. When motivation fades and we don't feel like continuing, give us the strength to follow through. Help us stay consistent, even in the small things. In Jesus' name, Amen. If there's something you've let slide, today's a good day to pick it back up and keep going. Stay connected with Fate Fuel for more like this. I'm Bob Shaw. Peace and joy.
