Taurus Season 2026: Stand Your Ground
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
On April 19, Taurus season launches the spring into its peak, and the gravitas of the bull inspires embodiment and enthusiasm. I introduce us to the themes of my birth sign by pulling its corresponding tarot card, the Hierophant, which commands us to bring the divine down to earth, and to set the terms for our power in our day-to-day lives. The themes of Taureanism are solidity, sensuality, and simplicity.
With a full moon in Scorpio on May 1st (the pagan holiday of Beltane), a new moon in Taurus on May 16, and planets like Uranus and Venus entering Gemini, it’s a season of lightning downloads and powerful debuts. As the noise of the world continues to rage, the planets challenge you to stand your ground and stick to actual, lived-in reality, so as not to fall into the matrix. What are you about?

Hello, Star Child. You've tuned into Heavenly Bodies, a trip through the Cosmos with David Odyssey. I'm David Odyssey, your personal astrologer and guide, cruising through the stars and down to Earth. Each week, we'll seek life's meaning in archetypes, old and new. And now, let's drop in. Welcome and God bless us, everyone, uh, to a special springtime bonanza. As we welcome in Taurus season, uh, as we lead up to as we lead up to April 20th, Hitler's birthday, we get to celebrate uh my birth sign, my mother's birth sign, and the birth sign of Barbara Streisand. Uh Taurus. We can be tough, but we are pretty fabulous. So I am going to be explaining to you what Taurianism is, what the themes of Taurus season are. Then I'll be talking about a lot of the major kind of events that are happening, and I'll give you plenty of homework. To begin, I wanted to pull a resonant card uh that goes with Taurus. Um this is, you know, when we talk about tarot and astrology, tarot cards correspond to everything. There are different tarot cards that correspond to different planets and signs and uh even degrees within a sign. Um you can go in all sorts of cuckoo directions. There are tarot cards that are associated with different angels, different parts of the Kabbalah, etc. etc. etc. So Taurus, you know, before we get even more complicated, I wanted to pull out the the definitive Taurus card, which is the fifth card, the Hierophant, as you see from the Aquarian deck. This is the Hierophant. The Hierophant was originally known as the Pope, uh, and it was changed. We see a robed, kind of fabulous, bedecked, uh, you know, in fleabag uh when she's talking to the priest and she uh to the therapist about how she wants to fuck the hot priest, and and the the therapist is like, it's the robes, isn't it? Anyways, the Pope is and the Hierophant is decked out in these gorgeous robes. He has uh two fingers up in the air, kind of signaling this connection to the higher world above. The Hierophant is a conduit, he is a living emissary of higher consciousness, higher wisdom, and higher order. The Hierophant is basically writing the rules. He's writing the Bible, he's writing the dogma. You know, when you pull the Hierophant in a reading, it's very dua lipa new rules. There is an aspect of the Hierophant that is not just, okay, I am in touch with the psychedelic world and I'm sensitive and I'm intuitive. It's really saying I am ready to bring all that down to earth and put it into practice. I don't really give a shit about what's going on up there or down here. This is the way it's going to be. The Hierophant is the Taurian card for that reason. Taurians are thought of as stubborn. Taurus deals a lot with embodiment, um, authorship, agency, uh, self-direction. And Taurus is so much, I'm in my body, I'm gonna have to set the terms, and my body is therefore sacred and holy. So it's not that I need to trip out to access what's up there, and it's not like I need to compromise to access what's down here, it's all sacred, and therefore, as I'm setting the terms and creating my own Bible, those rules and laws are going to be binding. So the Hierophant has so much to say about the boundaries or terms or kind of creative missions that we set for ourselves. Taurus is so we are very set in our rituals, we're very set in our ways. And for us, that is it. Like, it's not so much of I need to go to India to discover higher consciousness and do a meditation retreat in an ashram. That's great. For us, it's really like I can literally just be watching dirty dancing. And if that's sacred to me, and if that's part of my daily ritual to sit down and be alone and watch a movie that I love, that will tap me in. So you, you know, for Torians, we don't need to like traverse the world to make a discovery that'll change us forever. We can truly, and I say this from personal experience, we can be sitting on the couch watching dirty dancing and feel completely tapped in with the gods. If that is, if you're like me and that is something that's a part of your evening ritual to sit down and do something you love, to watch a movie you love, to wash a dish, whatever that is. For Taurians, that's it. That's the connection. And the Hierophant is so much about saying, okay, so what are those terms? How does that work for you? What do you need to set in place so that you can be in your body? And if you are in your body, therefore you are connected to source. That's the Hierophant. So let me explain what Taurianism and Taurus season is about. Aries season starts the spring, and really, for all intents and purposes, spring is the beginning of the year. Aries launches the zodiac, and Aries has this great combustive power. Taurus is about sticking the landing and the dust settling. So Aries is the cardinal sign of the spring, which means it starts the season. Taurus is the fixed sign, and Gemini is the mutable sign. Taurus, as the fixed sign, is saying, I embody the themes of the spring. And Gemini then says, I am going to transition us into the summer. I am going to launch us into Memorial Day and going to re-spee for the first time and parties. Taurus is really about the definition and kind of being seated. So with the spring, you know, with Aries, we're having this desire to sniff around and fertilize. Taurus is then saying, great, let's just like enjoy being in our bodies right now and let's like, let's enjoy the sensation and let's enjoy, it's not enough to just want to be like horny and frolicking and seeking. We also need to then be in the inverse position, which is like receiving, delighting, uh, experiencing. So Taurus is we as a people are a lot more slowed down. Uh, if you look at a lot of Taurus pop stars, they will like just fully either retire or take like several years between albums. Um, Grace Jones will go a decade between albums. Barbara Streisand went 27 years uh between live performances. She was obviously doing other things, but she like it isn't super critical. And Adele has just announced that um she's ambivalent about making any more music. That's very Taurus because we really like we don't I don't want to say we, but there's something about the way that this this mode of thinking is, which it's like I don't need to prove that much, and I don't need to be doing that much to feel relevant or important. I really can just be like painting my house or watering the plants or just like eating pudding. So with Taurus season, because when we go into Gemini, things, and you know, I'm gonna be talking about this, but we already have planets entering Gemini. Um, it's a bit more like experimental, versatile, what's going on, what's happening. But Taurus is way more about getting seated in your place. So let's talk about some of the big um events, and I will, you know, break down a lot of these themes. So, first of all, I'll just tell you about some of the planets that are going to be in Taurus. When planets are in Taurus, they make a square or a challenging kind of 90-degree face-off with Pluto. Pluto, which is the sort of uh big generational uh transformer, which is in Aquarius. Pluto and Aquarius, uh, it's been there for about a year, two years. It Aquarius deals a lot with technology, social movements, liberation, change. Pluto is dealing a lot with AI and with sort of uh these new revolutionary movements around the world. That's all fascinating. When the sun is in Taurus, when Mercury enters Taurus, when Mars enters Taurus, they're going to be squaring that Pluto and Aquarius. And that is a bit of a personal override on collective change. That does not mean that you need to like become a shut-in and stop dealing with what's going on in the world. What it means is there are overwhelming forces and uh movements and kind of border changing, redrawings of maps, changes in the way we think about what consciousness is or what work is or what money is. And it's great, it's critical that we're all a part of this dialogue. Taurus is very much saying, hold on, where am I right now in physicality locality, in terms of my actual relationships, my actual place on Earth, what I'm doing, and why. So as these planets are uh squaring Pluto and Aquarius, there's a big check-in, which is like, who are you right now? And not in terms of the the big picture, okay? So on April 25th, the sun will square Pluto. Um, May 1st through 2nd, Mercury is going to enter Taurus. Mercury is all about doing uh making shit happen, how you communicate. It'll be there until the 17th. Mercury will hit the sun in Taurus on May 14th. That'll be kind of a bright moment. And then on May 18th, Mars, I know I'm jumping around with dates, but I think you can handle it. On May 18th, Mars will be entering Taurus until June 28th. Mars is the planet of war, ambition, fire, drive, sex, and embodiment. There's a few things to be said here. Look, Taurus corresponds. There are a lot of um famous dictators and autocrats who are Tauruses. When Mars, the planet of ego and war, is in Taurus, it does not sound, especially at this point in human history, extremely reassuring about world events because it means that those people who are unwilling to share power or compromise are probably going to get even harder. It's very much Pharaoh getting uh his heart hardened during the Exodus crisis. There's a flip side. When Mars, which is the planet of the body, this is what I'm doing, this is what I'm here to do, this is my individual mission, is in Taurus. There is a very strong centering about your personal mission and stakes. Madonna is a Mars in Taurus. Um, I have a lot of respect for Madonna in terms of how she talks about political issues. You know, not always, but I think Madonna is very good at saying this is my art form. These are the aesthetic incarnations I take. This is what I want to talk about in my music and at my shows and in public. These, this is who my audience is, and this is what they need, and this is how I can connect with them, and this is how I am loyal and devoted to them. So I think the flip side of kind of autocracy and being unbending and even dehumanizing is saying, this is where I am, this is the impact I have, this is who I impact, and these are the choices I want to make so that I can stay the course and be of the highest service. So I just want to recommend with Mars and Taurus, it's really about uh grounding, a proper grounding. What's interesting with all of this is that Pallas, known as, you know, the name of Athena, who is um an asteroid for the goddess of war and military strategy, enters Aries uh this month. She'll be there until next March. Again, you know, Pallas, Athena, war goddess, Aries, sign of war. I think we all know what's going on in the world. But Athena was all Athena's thing is about we have to be wise. We have to choose the right champions for the right reasons and for a specific mission. I think there is a real victory at hand to those who can curate and be critical and be original and be sensible in choosing their battles, choosing their arguments, choosing the discourse that they want to engage in. Because basically, the the reason that um our streaming universe and our drip drip Novicane uh of media and our kind of political manipulators do very well is because they can oversaturate us and make us feel either dazzled and dazed or um like committed to a cause that's been sold to us. And I think that those who can really say, like, I've done a lot of research, this is what's important to me and to the people around me, and this is what impacts me and the people around me, and this is how I can really, you know, take my place in it. That is true originality, and that will go very far. Okay, I hope this is all feeling okay. You know, I did also want to say, like, while we're at it, we will be having planets entering Gemini. So Gemini is also like Taurus, Gemini is also quite interpersonal and local. Gemini deals a lot with um the sort of sphere of influence, who we talk to, how we talk to them, how we express ourselves, how we communicate. What influence are we taking in? Um, you know, with Gemini, I always think kind of about high school, and I always think about this is what we listened to in carpool on the way to school. This is who I talked to when I got to my locker. These are the teachers who really inspired me. Gemini deals a lot with those frequencies. So on April 24th, Venus will enter Gemini. It'll be there till May 18th. Venus is so much about the discovery of beauty in our day-to-day life. And um Uranus, planet of new technology, new ideas, new thought movements, change, uh, backlash, is going to be entering, re-entering Gemini April 27th. Um, I mentioned uh that we already did a Uranus and Gemini episode uh about two weeks ago. So I hope you can lock into that because that'll that'll get way more into the bigger picture details. But the point is if you want to do a beautification around your feed, if you want to decide which which uh group texts you want to be engaging in, if you want to decide, actually, I think I might want to be listening to different podcasts, or maybe I want to um join a book club with people who I think are actually stimulating, or I think I'm gonna start reading this sort of thing because it might give me the right information, not in a homework way, or I want to train to learn this new technology that I think could do all sorts of things. Think of it as a beautification. We're trying to do a makeover around your immediate sphere of influence. And again, we don't need to think so global right now. We do not need to think about like, what is my footprint in this huge thing? Because it's too big, frankly. The things that are happening right now as I'm recording are so cuckoo that, you know, these are all things that none of us have lived through before. And right now the planets are just saying, like, what are you doing that's useful for your gay volleyball group? And how could your gay volleyball group be of service to the world? But let's start there. You know, we don't need to go much further than that because frankly, it'll get lost in the noise. On May 1st, uh, we have Beltane. Uh, we will please see our our uh coming soon Beltane episode, which is going to just be it's all about May 1st, uh May Day, but that day we get a full moon in Scorpio. Scorpio deals a lot with um power dynamics, relationality, and kind of what's cooking uh in the underworld. So it's really important as we're like downloading into our bodies that a lot of the shit that we've that's gotten in the way is addressed. What does that mean? There's been a lot of times when I've been on the dance floor and I have maybe taken a substance which helps me to open my heart and be in my body and feel alive. Usually there is a 20-minute to one hour period when uh the expansion is happening in which I am really facing a lot of the pain or um suffering or uh uh trauma or whatever it is that has kept me from being able to be here in this place of ecstasy and fullness. I think a full moon and Scorpio is really about that beautiful dialogue. You know, it's about what is the what's the heartbreak that kept me from being here? And oh my God, now I can feel all of that and see it, and let's really address that and like have that moment. And now that we face that, let's party, it's Beltane, you know, let's have an orgy in the woods. But there is this thing, it's like you can't really have that full download unless you're really able to say, wait a minute, why can't I always be here? What what's holding me back? What's hard for me? Oh, oh, it's all this shit that's been going on. Oh wow, I have so much empathy for it. You know, it's it's a lot about that. At that moment, by the way, May 1st, Mercury will be hitting Chiron. Chiron is uh Mercury, which is uh actually the god of medicine, will be hitting Chiron. Chiron is an asteroid named after the centaur who taught the Greek heroes the medicinal arts. Put that in your pipe and smoke it. When Mercury hits Chiron, just on a full moon on Beltane, as the spring is launching, we're getting a lot of information about what is the medicine we need to fully inhabit our bodies, to fully be in our day-to-day lives, to be with our loved ones, to be of service to our local community. Shablam. So pay attention. It's not just about, oh, I feel amazing today, let's celebrate it. It's okay, this is actually what's been holding me back, and I actually know what I need in that Taurian ritualistic day-to-day-to-day way to come back to myself. On May 16th, Mars will be hitting Chiron. Take that. So Mars will then even say, Okay, now how can I use that medicine so that I can be a warrior for myself and for others? How can I take what healing do I need to take on the road with me? On May 16th, as you're having that that medicinal download, we get a new moon in Taurus. So we have a full moon in Scorpio on May 1st, a new moon in Taurus on May 16th. That new moon in Taurus, I think, is going to launch us out of Taurianism. And it's going to say, okay, what do I what do I know about myself that needs to stay fixed before we go into Gemini season? This is what I need to stay whole and strong. This is what I need to be useful for others. Otherwise, I'm out. Now that we know that, as Venus and Mercury are entering Gemini, and as we approach Gemini season on May 19th, and we're saying, Alright, it's Gemini, summer's about to begin. I'm going to parties, I'm trying on kind of questionable outfits, I might be meeting new people, I'm having all sorts of encounters I haven't had. I'm going to try to be flexible. What do you need to know about yourself? You know, what is fixed? What needs to stay before we can be a little bit more liquid? The personal homework for Taurus season, I think we all want to do something right now because it's such a crazy time. And Taurus is so much about okay, I can be really so of service in this way to these people, uh, in this style that I am going to really edit and curate and be clear about and definite about. This is mine to do, this is not mine to do, um, this is my way of doing it, this is not my way of doing it. And of course, all of that can go into a place of stubbornness and maybe not being able to adjust, not being able to adapt. There's that aspect. But I think the real gift of Taurianism is saying, like, okay, I have these gifts or these talents or these interests that when I'm doing them, they really put me in my body. And actually, if I could find a way to make time for them or design a ritual or a sense of style around them, I could then employ them when I'm in my body to do something for others, others around me in my real, like intimate locus. And then we can take that to be of service to the world. So the personal homework is to really clear out as much of the C R A P as you can. A lot of the stuff that takes you out of your body and into things that are so way beyond you that they're kind of it's kind of like talking about the weather. And try to dictate what is your personal mission, what is yours to say, and how can you do it with as much. Um expertise, curation, panache, and passion as possible. Um, you know, Madonna chooses the mission statement, the aesthetic, and the persona for each of her albums. Madonna has a lot to give to the world, and she's very good at sharpening it down and curating it, video to video, tour to tour, and she's really that's kind of the mission. You have so much to give. What if we could really frame it and put it into a physical um embodied delivery? Now, it is the launch of Taurus season, so we have to honor uh a high priestess uh for this week. Uh, we are celebrating a legendary diva who was born on April 21st. Listen, some signs really know how to deliver uh divas, and Taurus is probably the greatest of them all. We really have some of the baddest bitches in the world because Taurians do not compromise. April 21st, we have to celebrate the one and only Patty Lapone. Um where to begin? Uh Patty Lapone, I think really embodies besides the diva attributes, there is this thing with Patty Lepone where she's like, Look, I know what my job is and I will pound it every time. You don't need to worry about that. But I need you to do your job, and I need you to clean up your own mess. And I think a lot of that can sound really um over the top and big, and it can take that. But I think what Patty Lepone is speaking to is this thing of like, I know what I can do, and I'm gonna do it consistently, and I believe in myself. I know I can do this and I'm not gonna compromise, but I'm also not gonna compromise on having expectations for others. Um obviously, I mean, there's a lot of performances I can recommend, but I have to say, if you want just like a snack, Patty Lapone's two episodes of girls, season three, I quote them pretty much every day. Um, so we gotta celebrate her. And um, I mean, she literally originated Le Miserab. Come on. Um, all right. From one tourist to to my others, uh, I hope this was useful for you.
