Gemini Season 2026: Don’t Kill the Messenger

Gemini Season launches on May 20, bringing the spring to an official close and launching us into an explosive summer. But what is this most-misunderstood sign really about, and how should you best ride its currents? I open the episode with a pull of the Two of Swords, explaining its themes of ambivalence and meditation. That’s what Gemini is: a tuning fork, a channel, a vessel in between extremes. Gemini is ruled by Mercury, the messenger of the Gods, and those born under a Gemini sun are often blamed for just saying what’s on everyone’s mind. Apparently, it’s a matter of selecting your frequency, lest you tap into darker channels (think Geminis like the current president, Kanye West and Azealia Banks) or portals of light (Andre 3000, Stevie Nicks and Robyn).
Now that we know what Gemini is (kind of), I talk about this month’s big events, including a new moon in Gemini, full moon in Sagittarius, Venus in Cancer and Mars in Taurus and beyond. I lay out your personal homework during this geopolitical maelstrom: employing the planets in Taurus, Gemini and Cancer to focus you on your dignity, gifts and potential, as means of facing the apocalyptic war machine. And, of course, I talk about Thelma & Louise and my experience taking acid at an Alanis Morrissette concert, because nobody asked for it!

Hello, Star Child. You've tuned into Heavenly Bodies, a trip through the Cosmos with David Odyssey. I'm David Odyssey, your personal astrologer and guide, cruising through the stars and down to Earth. Each week, we'll seek life's meaning in archetypes, old and new. And now, let's drop in. Welcome to the dimension, my beloved farm animals, uh, who are primed to take over the slaughterhouse any minute. Uh we are back for another thrilling edition of Heavenly Bodies A Trip Through the Cosmos with David Odyssey, and just as you may have dreamed and desired and imagined, it is I, David Odyssey. Uh today we're going to be talking about Gemini Saison, and I will be laying out what the hell that is, what you should do with that, why, and the main events to think about for the late May through mid-June saga. Um to begin, I wanted to pull a tarot card and uh help us immerse our immerse ourselves in the themes of uh what we're going to be talking about. This I have in my hand is the two of swords from the Aquarian deck. Traditionally, the two of swords is a blindfolded woman holding two swords in a crossed position. There's a lot of things to be said. First of all, it looks like the Gemini symbol, which is just two lines. Uh there's two swords. There is a sense of ambivalence of being in between choices, of being in between decisions of two paths which could lead to two extremes, and of the blindfolded woman in the center. There's two ways we can think about her position. Is she blind? Is she uh meditating? Is she contemplating? Is she meant to be um something between two extremes? Is she meant to be the medium uh that that kind of carries the transmission through those swords? If you look at the Gemini symbol, if you look at think of the swords, it's like a tuning fork. So the two of swords, I think, gives us a lot. Two usually means that there's a juggling or a decision being made or a weighing of options, and she's literally holding heavy swords. It's it's a weighing of options. The two of swords speaks to when it's time for some sort of a decision or we're contemplating sides, needing to go inward. Um, if you read the Erica Badu Vulture interview from 2018, she of course talks about in Star Wars The Phantom Menace when as they're in the middle of the fight with uh Darth Maul, Qui-Gonjin um just like sits down and starts meditating. And if you've watched Avatar The Last Airbender or The Legend of Korra, that is just something that happens on those shows. Someone can be in a life or death battle, and then they'll just be like, I'm actually gonna cross my legs and lower my and close my eyes now. Gemini season arrives in the end of the spring. It is at the debut of the summertime. It is introducing kind of the heat and frenzy and madness of the summer. It is wrapping up the themes of the spring. Gemini is the third sign, which means that in terms of what we could consider childhood development, etc., Gemini is really not a girl, not yet a woman. Uh, it's very much about kind of adolescence and discovery and being in being in new experiences and kind of letting them go through you. When we think about a tuning fork, when we think about ambivalence, in order to have new experiences or to discover something or to have something move through us, we kind of need to be, if not an empty vessel, then an open vessel. Aries season is about I've been reborn, this is where I'm going, this is what I want to do. Taurus season is this is who I am, this is what I embody, this is what I represent. Gemini is an invitation to go somewhere more not tabula rasa, but somewhere more um open-ended. Because it's saying I need to go to new places and have new experiences, and to do that, I can't be clinging to my childhood development. Gemini deals, you know, that adolescent thing of I'm going to my first party, I'm gonna try something I've never tried. I don't need to be who I've been before. When I saw when I took acid and saw at Jones Beach Alanis Morissette do her Jagged Little Pill 25th anniversary tour as opened by Garbage. Garbage was incredible, but Shirley Manson Virgo was doing a lot of she was being political and it wasn't really working because she was just like the the talking in between songs was kind of like it was it was too heavy. Then Alanis got on, and I was like Alanis Marset, classical Gemini, by the way. Alanis got on and she just fully started channeling. She was channeling for the whole crowd, she was channeling everything we've been through during that album in the 25 years since. She was just a very pure, clear, healthy vessel. Robin, who's a Gemini, if you've seen her live, anyone who's seen um Andre 3000, who's a Gemini, do his flute scenario. It's the same with Stevie Nicks when she starts twirling. They have a persona, they have a personality, there's a lot that makes them them, but their performance is very much I am going to be the messenger, I am the vessel, I am going to be the channel. So there's a huge amount of neutrality involved in this because it's about the voice coming through or the thing coming through, and it's about putting ourselves in a position of this isn't necessarily about quote unquote me. It's about like what I am I'm the messenger of. Gemini is ruled by Mercury. Uh, Mercury is the the voice or messenger of the gods. This is something I will say about Geminis. Anytime a Gemini is getting a bad rap because they've said something really provocative, they are, and this is not, I'm not saying this is a good thing, it's quite unfortunate, they are usually bringing to voice something which is in the collective ether, which is to say they are acting as the messenger. I hate to bring these names up, but and and I don't say this to excuse these people for what they've said or done in any way, but I think that when Geminis like the current president or Kanye West or Azalea Banks say something, there's no real point in writing a think piece that's saying how bad of a person they are or that they're despicable. Unfortunately, they are probably communicating something that others are thinking or feeling or saying. I'm not saying it's a good thing that they're saying it, I'm not saying that it's helping in any way. But usually Geminis are the channel for the feed. Sometimes, as with you know, Stevie Nex or Robin, you are getting a very pure channel. They are tapping into something in the higher um uh echelons of consciousness or love or light. They are bringing that as the messenger and deliverer to all of us through their voice or their music or what they have to say. That's real. Other times you have the darker frequency. So it's just a matter of frequency, but I would never like I would never just be like Donald Trump bad. End of story. It's like, no, he's bringing voice to something very dark that's going on. And I think that's been a thing that's been hard for liberal people to understand, which is like if you get rid of it, you're not getting rid of the problem by getting rid of him. Like, there's a bigger problem here. Geminis also really thrive with versatility for this reason. And if you're not a Gemini, I would see where Gemini is in your chart and which planets you have in Gemini, because Gemini, for the that reason of I'm a channel, take me where you want to lead me, they really can do a lot because they're not fixed. So if you look at an actress like Natalie Portman, she isn't really bound by any one role or kind of role. She's kind of done everything. Uh, this happens with a lot of really great character actresses where you're Gemini or Virgo specifically, where you're like, she did that movie, then that, and then another, and she does not need to be bound by any sort of um this is not any sort of vehicle based on who she is. Uh, she can be anyone in any outfit singing any kind of song. Um, so we love that, and that's kind of something to embrace with this. Obviously, the big kind of question in a world where we have a Gemini president, just because there are dark feeds tip to channel or tap into does not mean that we have to dial our radio to them. So I think a big issue with this sort of like troll culture we have is it's just like, well, I'm just saying what's out there. And that's not super interesting. Like the issue with populism and with social media is it's like just because everyone can have a voice doesn't mean that they should, nor that they should be saying every single thing that's on their mind. So I think a big challenge with Gemini and a big the idea with the Two of Swords is it's like if you were to go into the meditative state where you are really contemplating what you want to be coming through and where you want that to lead you, that's a bit more interesting than just what we have, which is what would happen if a person were just um an open font um uh of chaos. Not super great. Uh, you know, that that might just be the understatement of the dimension. Okay. Now let's talk about some of the events of Gemini season. Gemini season begins on the 20th. It'll be going until cancer season begins uh on June 21st. So Gemini season, we really, you know, if you know uh Catherine Cohen's song Events, Events, I Wanna Go to Events, let me come to your event. That is Gemini season. There is a sense of it's Memorial Day at Reese Beach, Fire Island is open, you know, the sluts are out. So Gemini Season has a spirit of action, adventure, and excitement. We love that. Um, I'm gonna be talking about some of the key kind of themes to be thinking about. To begin, you know, I talked about this in the tour season horoscopes, but Mars is freshly in Taurus, and Venus is freshly in Cancer. Mercury will be joining Venus on June 1st. Great. Mars is the body, it's our drive. By the way, Madonna is a Mars in Taurus, and we will be getting uh confessions too during this period. So she's having a beautiful Mars return. Mars is the body, Taurus is the bull, it is earthen, it is uh very stubborn, it is set in its ways. Venus is in Cancer. Uh cancer, Venus is kind of beauty, it's where you want your gifts to go, it's how you want to shine, and Cancer is very much um uh the tribe, the family, the unit. While Gemini season is kind of unleashing new possibilities and options, I think there is a really beautiful Madonna aspect here, which is I want to immerse myself in the feed. I want to immerse myself in society, in rhythm, in politics, in what's going on all around me. I want to check out what's going on in the whole spectrum. That said, you have the Martian in Mars and Taurus, the body, which is saying, like, I am a whole presence and I am a unified being. And Venus is saying, I do really want to share my gifts and to be giving to all around me. I want this to all have a purpose. So having these planets in these signs give a sense of maybe being set in your ways and maybe being stubborn, that can be happening. It can maybe lead to some difficulty and an inflexibility. But what I imagine here is a lovely frisson, which is to say, We know what you're about and what you want to give. Gemini is just introducing a little chaos to the equation. And now we get to see in the way of Madonna, who is this very powerful definitive being, how she wants to evolve album to album. Right now, you're being introduced to new people and possibilities and events and ways of thinking, you're being introduced to new ideas, you're being challenged. Mars and Venus are saying, good, and all of that work you've done to kind of cultivate a sense of this is who I am and where I am, that's not going anywhere. While Venus is in Cancer, and while uh Mercury joins it in Cancer on uh in June, they will be squaring or making challenging aspects to Neptune and Saturn, which are in Aries. Neptune and Saturn in Aries uh deal a lot with the world we're in right now, which is the dream and the the harsh, harsh reality of war and conflict and violence and people getting assassinated. Um that Aries cluster is very activating because it it's about this sort of um violent furnace through which a lot of destruction and also creation, but a lot of destruction is making us feel like, is there a fever? What is the point? Where is all this going? While Venus and Mercury are in cancer, they will be making squares to those planets. And I think those are moments of individual empathy or grace where we say, okay, this is who I can care for right now. This is who's in my garden, this is what I can give. Um, this is how, this is who I can protect. What's nice again about Venus and Mars is that they really bring things into the personal while so much is going on a global fucking meltdown. So with Venus and Mercury there, I think I would just really try to focus like Cancer really wants you to be the mother who's giving, but you know, you can't feed every child in the world, or else you'll go into a dissociative fugue state and just be useless. Venus and Mercury and Cancer are saying, like, actually, there are people we can feed. Who we want to feed, and what do we have to give? So we love that. Is going to be squaring Pluto in Aquarius, which, if you listen to our recent episode on Pluto and Aquarius, which I I know you did, and that it rocked your world, and that you are writing glowing encomiums and even emails to me about how much you loved it and all of the things it's made you think, and all the questions you have to ask that we're going to talk about. Okay. Pluto's in Aquarius. Mars is in Taurus. That's a 90-degree, they're fixed signs, they're 90 degrees apart from each other. So again, Mars and Taurus, which is really saying this is what I want to do personally while I am hearing about the end of the world, AI, and kind of these like larger global movements. I'm a Taurus. I just got uh a reading from my Akashic reader, Kat Hunt, whom I highly recommend. And a lot of it was about creativity and what I want to make and what I want to do. And a lot, I I had all these questions there where I was like, I just have so much shit in my head about these people I know who have become successful or the way the industries are going, and about all of my associations, and my bitterness, and my jealousy, and my resentment. And the guides were like, Who cares? They were just like, What do you want to do? Do it. And then when the reading ended, I thought about like AI because I was like, I want to write a movie, and then I was like, I thought about AI, and I I was like, Who cares? Why is that my problem? Like, go write a movie. Why are you thinking about this shit? So there's some sort of a battle. This happens a lot where it's like, well, I would do this thing that I want to do, except remember, and it's like, just fucking, you know, as they say on Mad Men, just taste it. Okay. So those are some nice crossroads. You know, Uranus is oh wait, just more about Venus. I okay. I want to say this about June. June 13, Venus enters Leo. It'll be there July until July 9th. Venus will be making trines with Saturn and Neptune. She will be opposing Pluto and Aquarius. When Venus is in Leo, there is a huge sense of visibility and knowing how to show what you've got and kind of um speak and embody that divine born leadership you have in you. Again, I think I think when Saturn and Neptune first entered Aries and when Pluto first entered Aquarius, it really was, and I I know it still has been, just one shock after another after another. Is this the world we live in? As Venus enters Leo, she really wants to help you get specific about the way you act and lead and embody and respond visually, how you and again it's Gemini season, how that is spoken, how that's communicated. You know, I think there's a lot of awareness that comes around, like, oh, that's the thing I'm I'm giving to the world. So I think there's a it's a really good time for kind of like retooling and getting clear on like oh okay, this is what I have to say in my way, in my limits, and this is how I can present it, and this is how I can kind of make it beautiful. While we're talking Gemini, uh, as you know from previous episodes, Uranus is in Gemini. Uranus freshly entered at the end of April, it's gonna be here for like seven or eight years. Hello. Uranus is a planet of new technology, chaos, change, upheaval, backlash. The sun on May 22nd is going to hit um Uranus. Mercury's gonna hit it. The sun is going to make a shrine or a uh a supportive aspect to Pluto and Aquarius, which deals a lot with new technology, new ways of thinking, new ideas, new movements on the 26th. So again, I think this is all new. We're in a new domain, a new world order, and I'm not saying that it's all gonna be like amazing because. You know, um war and technology right now are so inspiring and cool. It's not that. What is nice about this period, about Gemini season, about Uranus being there, about uh the sun, then hitting Uranus and getting inspiration, Gemini, because of its ambivalence and because it's of the ability to go either high consciousness or dark consciousness and all of it be true. Gemini really, this season, this is not a time for kind of moralism or reductivism. And right now we're in a really interesting dance of where am I in all of these new ideas and technologies? And as the sun is hitting Uranus and as the sun is uh talking with Pluto, it's a bit more of okay, I'm seeing where I land, you know, like there just is a sense of the dance, the tuning fork, and I think there's a lot of new possibilities or ideas, new things to learn, new things to try out. So I would just say, you know, you're a bull, you got Mars and Taurus, you know, you got that thick hide. You're not going to be lost in the chaos, but there is definitely, as the sun uh is hitting Uranus, as the sun's in Gemini, there is just a sense of no one needs you to be too no one's gonna find your judgments that interesting right now. It's just a bit more of let's try things out and choose the right the frequency which is of the highest good. Ding dong. Um okay let's talk about some moons. On May 31st, we get a full moon in Sagittarius. Sagittarius is the opposite of Gemini. Sagittarius is a you know, I would I always say this. Gemini is Thelma, Gina Davis. Sagittarius is Louise, Susan Sarandon. That's not their astrology in real life. I'm talking about the characters, keep up. Gemini is Thelma, who's saying, like, put me in the car and I'm gonna have an experience, and I'm gonna fuck Brad Pitt, and I'm gonna like do all the things that are available to try. Sag is saying, I'm Louise, I'm driving this thing, I know where we're going, and I'm gonna get us there. That duality is lovely because while you're in the kind of open possibility and even chaos and fear of Gemini, Sag, the moon in Sag is coming to its fullest uh reflective effulgence, where it is saying, like, this is going somewhere. There is a big picture, there's a destination. You're not lost, the world is not lost. We have a place to go. So that's kind of the thing, you know, it's the end of May, it's the end of the month. Um, the full moon is kind of propulsing us, if that's a word, um, to some endgame. So I, you know, I would just keep that in mind. We then have a new moon. On June 15th, we have a Gemini new moon. A new moon, beginning of the Hebrew month. A new moon is when uh the moon is um a seedling, it's when it's dark, it's when it's restarting. Like I said, Gemini really thrives in a place of meditative ambient neutrality. A new moon for many of us is often an exhausting period because there is just a sense of absolute death and rebirth. And it's okay to feel like you're starting at zero during this Gemini new moon. I think that's kind of good because it's basically saying I have rebooted and I'm ready for the next download, and it's okay that I just feel like a baby who doesn't know anything. It's okay on a new moon to just be like a dud. You're not really supposed to be like, and this is me, and this is the presentation, and this is what I'm doing. It's okay to just be like, what are we talking about? You know? I wanted to talk about Chiron, the asteroid is entering Taurus on June 19th. We might do an episode on this. Huh. Um, Chiron is the asteroid named after the Centaur in Greek mythology who teaches the medicinal arts to the Greek heroes. There's a lot you can do with the Chiron myth. Some astrologers are like, he's a teacher, he gives wisdom. Other astrologers are like, he deals with the medicine that we need to give and get. Others like that there's the wounded healer archetype, he's a mortal, he has an arrow in his thigh, he's in pain, but he's giving the medicine. Okay. Chiron does, I think, deal with the transmutation um of life's lessons into a sort of medicine that we share with the world. I'm not too attached to the wounded healer thing. I think it's fine. I just don't want it to get too millennial fetishistic, like I need to constantly suffer to be of use to the world. Chiron is entering Taurus. First of all, I recommend you look where Chiron was when you were born, because that'll already give us a huge amount of information about what it is you are here to kind of like give. And, you know, on the comeback, they were they're talking about like why AI can't write, and they were like, um, and Val's director was like, they haven't the AI hasn't had like pain or rejection, so it doesn't have any lessons to offer through its writing, and it's like damn. Chiron is entering Taurus. Taurus deals a lot with the body on a very literal level. Taurus deals a lot with um our immediate ability to um have sensations or to have delight or to experience pleasure, or to, you know, Taurus does deal a lot with sexuality, fertility. Um when Chiron is in Taurus, I don't have to say that when it comes to sexuality, um, the gender organs, uh, fertility, or the things that uh give us our sense of embodiment, whether that be as sexual beings in the gender, you know, that we we truly are. I don't have to explain to you why a lot of that has been under attack over uh for a while. What is good about Chiron in Taurus is this. It is likely that if those uh points have affected you, you may have a lot to give or teach or share. Not in a like, I'm writing a uh tedious personal essay way, but in a like, oh, you may actually have the medicine, like not only for yourself, but for others. I am not necessarily saying that that is the medicine that is immediately going to change public policy or like make our lovely House and Senate and uh Oval Office staff just like suddenly tolerant. But it's very possible that you have collected wisdom over the years, having not been in your body, having had people in power tell you about your body, or um losing uh your sense of agency and then fighting to regain it, or having really amazing experiences where you, you know, I had a really Torian experience in 2023 where I had I started drinking coffee. I'd never had coffee, and I had this experience where I had my first iced coffee, and I was like, I'm having a spiritual orgasm. You know, it's it's the sort of thing when you start having really good sex where you're like, this has been there all along? Whoa. So what I want to say about Chiron and Taurus that I think is lovely, we are all in the fight, we are in the ultimate fight against good, you know, of good versus evil. Chiron is also saying, you probably have a lot to teach or give or share that will be constructive and elucidating and useful as medicine. And a good way to think about that is like, okay, well, how can we be giving or healing ourselves and others with the wisdom we've learned? You know, what can we be putting out there? Taurus is very much embodied, it's your point of view, it's your experience, it's what you know. It that makes it real. And I think when everything is so big picture and globalized and terrifying, it is really nice to be like, I can offer help based on my own experiences, and I'm not going to fix everything, but I think I have something to offer. You know, at the end of Legend of Korra, when she has that line where she's like, I'm not the Avatar I used to be, but I still want to help. I cannot talk about that without wanting to burst into tears. Um friend of the pod, Korra. So, you know, Chiron and Taurus, I just think it's a very different frequency. And it's it's a real invitation of like, you really might have a lot to give. I think a lot of the way the world is operated, which is like either write a think piece or like yell, it's not quite that. It's a bit more like who could you be offering guidance? Not guidance, that sounds condescending. Who could you be offering your medicine to and like who could it be helpful to? Um it's pretty good. Your homework and your kind of ways of thinking about Gemini season is this. The assignment is not to hide out from the world and dissociate, and the assignment is also not to just like be in a scrolling frenzy where you are just exposed to the lunacy of uh the human race at this particularly harrowing nexus point. You are meant to kind of close your eyes and dial the radio dial. Do you hear how eloquent I am? And kind of uh knob by knob, hair by hair, get the right frequency. Um there is a big invitation towards engaging with the world and meeting people and being out there and being exposed, but we're trying to figure out what's too big, what's too high, and what's also too low. Um, where you can feel exposed and active and imaginative, but not subsumed. And what is interesting and exciting, but not like dark, and like why am I why am I here? Why am I doing this? Why am I having this experience? Ambivalence, balance, um finding that place where you're actually able to tap into something without losing yourself. Um, that is the Gemini season invitation. Right now, there is a sense with Venus and Mars where they are with Chiron entering Taurus that on a very personal level, you likely do have something very useful to challenge to channel. Um, you have some wisdom or gifts uh or light and beauty, um, which are very personal and true to you, which came through your own personal experiences. In order to channel them, you will want to just be a little bit not fully in the noise, but exposed to the noise. Not yelling, not silent, just kind of finding your right frequency, and that can really come through that state of I'm just gonna close my eyes and sit down for a minute and just wait a minute, where am I? I don't mean that you need to become like a Yogi Jedi master. I'm just saying right now you can't turn the frequency off at this point in human history. So right now we're just trying to see where you want to land. Do without what you will. And yeah, like look, the Gemini season assignment is always just you can't be attached to anything. You cannot be attached to any idea. That's not the point. Now, I want to celebrate as we do every week this week's High Priestess. Uh, as this episode will be coming out during Taurus season, we have one last Taurus uh well no, we have two more Taurus gurlianas to celebrate. May 13th is the birthday of Lena Dunham, a prize Taurus who has recently released her memoir, uh, an audiobook experience I will never forget. I never want this book to end. She's a part of me. I cannot get enough of her voice. Lena Dunham embodies Taurianism in a few ways. First of all, Taurians make great, we really just are the visionary and we're the boss. She talks about her, how she was mentored by Nora Efron, another Taurus. You know, Torians, George Lucas, Taurus, we can we have the vision, so let us run the whole show. That doesn't mean we should be doing it all alone because that can often go into overdrive, but there is just a sense of I can realize and embody the vision. Let me do that. And that's what Lena Dunham really gave us with Girls, which is a it's a masterpiece, and there have been a lot of copy shows, and it hasn't been touched. Lena Dunham's book is about what she was put through by the public and by by the world around her. And look, I have to say this. Taurus is the sign of sexuality, and Taurus is the sign of fertility, and Taurus produces a lot of women or faggots who are often made into the sacrificial bull, the bull that is put onto the altar so that other people don't have to look in the mirror or think about how life is complicated. And often, you know, again, any role Michelle Pfeiffer has played, Heller, if you think about Amber Heard, there is this thing of I want to kill you so that I can keep a moralistic view of the world. And she really talks about a lot of bizarre, hypocritical, strange things that happened to her as a woman who wasn't anorexic, who wanted to show that she had a body and desires, and so I wanted to talk about that because she really is showing that ancient sacrificial aspect of Taurus. But because Taurus is so connected to the body and the body as a creative vessel and as a sexual vessel, that resurrection is always at hand and the bitch is back, thank God.
