On June 30, 2026, the bright and bold planet Jupiter enters Leo, the sign of leadership, talent and audacity. Jupiter commands a year of synthesis and expansion in Leo, inspiring you to take the lead in your life (and really, considering who is running the show at present, we could really use you).

Naturally, I get into how Jupiter affects you, and where to look for Leo in your chart. For those born with the sun in Leo, it’s going to be a lit year, but no matter your sun sign, there’s a clear call for each of us to step into our chosen spotlight. The masses are marching themselves into madness; now’s the time for the few to break apart and set sh*t off. To illustrate the themes of this turning point, I call on previous Jupiter in Leo eras and the cinematic debuts which defined them: think Sigourney Weaver as Ripley in Alien, Thelma and fucking Louise, Linda Hamilton doing one-armed pull-ups in Terminator 2, and Charlize Theron serving Furiosa in Mad Max: Fury Road. Notice a theme? The fire is coming. It’s time for the warrior woman to take charge. This time, you’re at the wheel.

Hello, Star Child. You've tuned into Heavenly Bodies, a trip through the Cosmos with David Odyssey. I'm David Odyssey, your personal astrologer and guide, cruising through the stars and down to Earth. Each week we'll seek life's meaning in archetypes, old and new. And now, let's drop in. Here we are, back at Odyssey Studios, um, where dreams come true and deals get made. Uh welcome back to the Sausage Factory. This is my favorite kind of episode to do. No, I love all sorts of episodes, but I am going to be doing a beautiful uh explainer of the shape of things to come. I will be talking about my favorite planet Jupiter and its incoming, oncoming, imminent entrance into the sign Leo, which will be going down June 30th, 2026, and it'll be there until July 26, 2027. I'm going to explain what the planet is, what the sign is, what that means big picture for you, what's happened in the past, etc. Don't go anywhere. But I wanted to start with a card pull about themes that correspond to Jupiter. As you know, all the planets in astrology, all the signs, have a corresponding tarot card. Isn't that so good? And Jupiter corresponds to the wheel of fortune. The wheel of fortune, card number 10, X of the Major Arcana, um, it is, you know, there is the literal wheel of fortune, Vegas, chance, possibility, luck. There's also, and with that, there's the sense of high-rolling optimism, you know, um possibility, dreams, expansion. And also if we just think about the cycle. And often when I have to talk about the cycle, I'm talking about the death aspect. And the Wheel of Fortune is also talking about the life aspect, the new beginnings. Where is the cycle going to go in its next revolution? Where do we want to go? Where do we want the saga to take us? What do we want to bet on? And it's also about the completion, looking at the cycle as a whole, understanding what this whole piece of our lives or this journey has been. The Wheel of Fortune has that aspect of vastness, perspective, bigness. Jupiter embodies Wheel of Fortune themes. Jupiter is the biggest planet in the solar system. Um, obviously, the sun is a star, the sun isn't really a planet. You get what I'm saying. Jupiter is a gas giant, it is huge, it is bold, it is bright. Um, it spends about a year in every sign. So for someone like me, it makes it very fun to see where the themes are going for the year. You know, other planets spend a month or two in the sign. Okay, you can get something from that. Obviously, we've talked a lot about the Dark Masters, Saturn, Neptune, Uranus, Pluto, who spend many years in a sign and will uh spell out a lot of themes on the big and small picture based on where they are. Because Jupiter spends about a year in each sign, you can look at just from a trend watching personal and public communal, uh, from a trend watching perspective, you can have a lot of fun with what that year is going to look like and what's gonna happen. Jupiter is thriving right now uh in cancer. Jupiter's been in cancer from May um 2025, it'll be there till June 2026, sure. Wherever Jupiter goes, it's gonna put a spotlight there. Jupiter deals a lot with expansion, uh picking up momentum, bigness, boldness, loudness. But Jupiter is also a wise master. Uh, Jupiter, you know, when you think about Zeus, Jupiter, um, going in disguise and traveling among the mortals, when you think about those sort of wise loving sages, um, if you think about a Yoda, that sort of a thing, Jupiter really is the shaman or the sage who is able to do the work of synthesis. Like I said, we're looking at the whole cycle, we're about to start a whole new cycle, and doing that beautiful processing and synthesis and bringing things together. And for that reason, wherever Jupiter goes, there's not only a sense of amplification and expansion, but also of disparate pieces coming together. This to me is quite promising for Jupiter in Leo. Leo is uh known as the king of the zodiac. Leo is the sign which uh deals with um the realization and the honing of our uh native gifts. Leos, because they're the king of the zodiac, they have a dignity that is meant to get better with age. They can be really stubborn and stuck and kind of fixed in themselves and in their ways. And as they age into that, it often really works out because it's like, oh, you're able to, the world is kind of catching up with you, and you are so tuned into what it is you have to give that you're able to kind of cash in on that investment or those possibilities or that hope. Leo's, you know, the Leo Ruby McAllister once explained to me, you know, Leo's usually or often can have their big break later on. You know, not to say that Charlie XX is in any way um like a crone because she's uh younger than I am, but Charlie XEX, like I went to see her open for uh Marina and the Diamonds in 2013. So Charlie's been around, and when Bratt happened, it was kind of a culmination moment. Um, or if you look at Lucille Ball or Mae West, uh, who really popped off in their 40s, which is unheard of. Uh if you look at Luca Guaragnino, who of course was making movies in his 30s, but then in his 40s, there was a sense of like, oh shit, call me by your name. So Leo's have this thing of I'm I have this thing I want to give to the world. I'm kind of going to wait for the world to catch up to me, and I'm just gonna like keep honing it and believing in it. So when Jupiter hits Leo, there is this sense of a long game that is paying off. There is a sense of something really big coming to synthesis. Um I think for Leo's it's a really nice moment of like, yeah, bitch, I've been around. But for the rest of us, I mean, I would be curious where Leo is in your chart and what you know, what planets are there and what it's doing for you. But Jupiter will be wanting to align um not only what it is you do or have to offer, Leo deals a lot with how we are seen, whom we want around us to see us. Maybe that's who. Who's your inner circle? What is the thing you project? You know, the if you're thinking about the king of the zodiac, you're thinking so much about a higher dignity, um, a higher grace, a higher beauty that we are wanting to inspire in ourselves and in others. It's about leadership. So all of this is very, you know, inspiring. Jupiter will be in Leo June 30th, 2026 through July 26, 2027. So that's basically summer 2026 through summer 2027. Live, laugh, love. If you are a Leo, I'll just say this. When Jupiter enters your sign, it's like all bets are off in a good way. It's extremely you're basically getting all the wind in your sails. That can go overboard. There is a mania, and kind of if you're out of control, Jupiter's gonna point out what in you is Cuckoo Town and what's gonna fall, fall, you know, fall into pieces. But there is a sense that um if if it's in your sign, it's really going to be giving you that boost. So I think for Leo's it's a great time. But wherever you have Leo in your chart, I I would pay attention because that's where you're gonna be getting a push. I, for instance, because I'm a sagarizing, I have Leo in my ninth house. Ninth house deals with travel and study, expanding horizons, writing. Okay, Jupiter's going there. Live, laugh, love. Okay. A few things to think about. The opposite end of the spectrum from Leo is Aquarius. Leo is the leader, Aquarius is the social collective, uh, Leo is the czar, and Aquarius is um the Marxist revolution. They're in a in a dialogue. We currently, as you know from previous episodes, and a lovely episode we did two weeks ago about um Pluto and Aquarius and the comeback and AI, you know, Pluto and Aquarius is really doing a lot around the collective. It is it's a big moment in how we think about revolutionary and protest movements, and as we see how dark things can get when power is um hoarded by basically like six men. Pluto's doing that. On the other end, Jupiter's wanting to say, like, right, with all of that destruction and all of that revelation, like, what would it look like if each of us kind of stepped into true leadership and true dignity? I don't mean um uh the comeback just did this episode where Billy is like, I've realized that I'm a star, and Valerie's like, so you want to be an actor? And he's like, No, I'm a star. And they're like, so you're trans, and he's like, no, I'm just a star. And there is this thing of like, well, girl. So Jupiter and Leo, I think, has this aspect of the call is going out to those of us who who are wanting to or or being challenged to step into a real place of leading, leading by example, you know, using our voice for the higher service, taking that role which only we can fill. And I think it's obvious right now that anyone could step up at this moment. I mean, based on who is running the world, I think we can agree, literally anyone could step up. Like, I'm I'm not trying to be simplistic and reductive. I understand that there's a lot of dark power involved in all of this, but in terms of intelligence, capacity, empathy, like you probably got it. You could you could rule the world. Of how do we do the detox out of the Billy thing of well, I want to be famous or I want to have a brand, into how do I bring my gifts into alignment with what's going on in the world. You know, I think what's been hard with Pluto and Aquarius, and we had Saturn in Aquarius before, was that when there's a culture war happening, everything becomes so serious that nothing any of us does feels meaningful. And I think Jupiter in Leo is saying, like, wait a minute, if you are, you know, if you are like into knitting, we don't need to rethink the wheel. If knitting is your passion, there is a way that you as a knitting teacher or a knitting um figure, you have something to give to the world through just your process, through this art that gives you joy, or who knows where it could take you, who knows what that community could be, whatever. Um, two days ago I went to I basically went to go see a this sounds so ridiculous. A protest clown or a peace clown who goes to active police protest like um uh zones or war zones and does clown work with everyone. And I know how ridiculous that that sounds, but it is kind of like honestly, sis. This might be working. Good for you that you like found your thing. And I'm not again, I want to warn against the Pluto and Aquarius thing, which is like every single thing we do needs to be socially conscious because then that becomes really like sneaking vet, like you know, putting broccoli into your into your brownies, and that sucks. What Jupiter and Leo ex Pluto and Aquarius is doing is a bit more of a you can be cool, you can be weird, you can be in dialogue with what's going on in the world, you can be of service to what's going on in the world. It's not a binary between being a pure activist or being a total narcissist. It's saying we can channel what you have and put it out there. So we love that. Leo is a fire sign. Leo's fellow fire sign are Sagittarius, in which, as you know from our very first episode of this podcast, and those were good times six months ago, uh, Lilith is in Sagittarius. Lilith the dark lady, Lilith the um shadow bitch is in Sag. She's saying a lot of like, oh, you don't like that I'm extreme? Does this does this scare you? Meanwhile, Saturn and Neptune are in Aries, and you loved those episodes too. Can you believe this? It's all coming together. Aries, Saturn, Neptune are dealing a lot with what is obvious to anyone, a very violent period we're in, a time of war, a time of assassinations, a time of um shit really going down, of of um people being attacked in the streets. Saturn and Neptune are really reckoning with that. Saturn and Neptune are also dealing with creation destruction, um, new voices, new imagination, new possibilities, optimism, uh burning things down so that new things can can be built. Jupiter and Leo is going to be trying those. So we're getting a sense of leadership through the fire. Um, as we know, we're in year of the fire horse. So there is this aspect of the beautiful horse, the the galloping in fire. What I wanted to talk about, obviously, through uh a beautiful history of my reality, is the sort of archetype which has emerged in previous Jupiters and Leos, and that is a new sort of uh warrior woman, a new sort of outsider leader, and it's very much like the one. Um so last time Jupiter was in Leo, we had was 2014 to 2015. That edition gave us Charlize Theron in Mad Max Fury Road. Charlize herself is a Leo. The Furiosa character, you know, I'm actually not crazy about that performance. I obviously love the movie, I saw it multiple times. You know, anyways, not to comfort her because it was obviously iconic, but there was this aspect of this sort of hard, wise figure who sees it all and um kind of just has this mission and is gonna go for it. Summer of 2002 to summer of 2003, Jupiter and Leo. I am not saying that 2002 to 2003 was such an amazing time for women, but it what's interesting in terms of you know mythology, we got the final season of Buffy. I understand that that is not a perfect season. Um, it would probably be done differently in terms of budgeting and all of that, but the final season of Buffy, we see Buffy and Faith, who have been the soul slayers, teaching a new generation and preparing them, and basically saying, like, oh shit, we're leaders, we're gonna have to step into this. We're going to have to transform our personal histories and really be there as the next wave comes and be not only strong, but be wise and generous and big. And Buffy kind of ends with her at the end of the cycle. She's just destroyed the Hellmouth and she's come to closure saying, like, okay, I did that. I feel whole. Um, it it's it's good. Similarly, my favorite movie, X-Men 2, came out that year. We see Gene Gray. That's that's the best Phoenix movie we ever got, and probably are ever gonna get because they kept fucking it up. That said, I do love Sophie Turner in X-Men Apocalypse, which is the art pop of the X-Men films. She does a great Phoenix. They just again, they always they always take those fucking Phoenix movies into original Sin territory, which is not what The Phoenix is about. The Phoenix is about Kabbalah, hello, and about disco and about um feminist liberation. So the original Sin thing, I don't know where that's from. You know, I I get it if these screenwriters had like a mean nun when they were children, or if they like hate their mommy, you need to deal with that. But in X-Men 2, Gene Gray is starting to understand that there's something in her that's come online and that it's really it could save lives, it could destroy her, it's bigger than her, but she can do things more than what she thought she was capable of. I swear I'm gonna put this all together in a moment. 1990 to 1991, Jupiter and Leo. Listen to this Terminator 2 Judgment Day. You've heard me talk about this film on this podcast. Sarah Connor, Miss Linda Hamilton, Thelma and Louise, Heller, Beauty and the Beast, Silence of the Lambs, Miss Clarice Starling, and the Adams Family, Morticia Adams. These are all iconic women. I mean, that's an incredible period of the cinematic woman. But all of those women, if you look at Clarice, if you look at Bell in Beauty and the Beast, Thelma and Louise, uh, Sarah Connor, they are women who all go their own way and who are really like fuck, I I might be, I might have something. You know, Thelma and Louise, they really start to experience that Thelma starts to realize like, whoa, I I'm not just like a housewife, like. I'm a fucking outlaw. I'm a goddess. I'm I'm handling Brad Pitt. Belle is singing in Beauty and the Beast that she wants something more out of life because she's literary and she's curious and she meets this creature who wants to, I mean, obviously keep her prison, but the beast wants to feed her love of the written word and of possibility and of grandeur. Um, he doesn't want to keep her small. Clarice Starling also, it's like Silence of the Lambs is Hannibal is challenging Clarice to be at the very best of her fucking game. It's not about, you know, at the beginning of the movie, it's so much about does Jodie Foster fit in at Military Academy? And then Hannibal's like, no, girl, you're the one. I'm gonna push you until you go there. And say, look, I've talked plenty about Terminator 2, but Terminator 2, you know, Terminator 1, Sarah Connor is kind of that girl. She becomes the final girl. I can't believe this is happening to me. Am I gonna survive this? Terminator 2, she's like, I have to be the one to do this. Like, I have to play mother to the world. 1978 to 1979 edition, Superman. We get Margot Kidder as the definitive Lois Lane. I'm sorry, I'm still waiting for the marvelous Mrs. Mazell to serve it. You know, she has time. Margitter as Lois Lane, she's just like, I'm not going to slow down for anyone, nor for you, Clark Kent. I am I am a creative, you know, um, Hepburn vessel. And I'm gonna talk as fast as I fucking want. And I'm gonna get myself into trouble, and you better save me. You better fly up and save me. I don't care what I do. I'm Margot Kidder, I'm Lois Lane. Yeah, I'm gonna climb the Eiffel Tower. Finally, we then of course have Sigourney Weaver as Ripley. Alien is a great movie about why quarantines are important. But Ripley and Alien, the movie starts, she's kind of one of the ensemble, and you're kind of like, all right, maybe this is Tom Scarrot's movie. Obviously, he's hot. Tom Scarrot. Steel Magnolias. What a man, what a man, what it might a good man. Okay. But Ripley emerges in Alien as this sort of quiet, solid, poised, androgynous, um human representative who will triumph over the inhuman. Um in alien, she becomes, you know, like Linda Hamilton, she becomes sort of all mother, mother, mother to the world. But in Alien, there is this sense of a stripping down. We have that incredible scene where she gets into her underwear and then puts on the flight suit to fight that fucker. But there is just this very dignified realization of like, no, I got this. So I wanted to bring up all these women in all of these roles because Leo has a reputation for being very loud and attention-grabbing, but there is this aspect of the dignity and integrity when we realize our inherent talents and what we can do. I mean, even again, Addams Family, you get Angelica Houston's Morticia Adams, you really she doesn't raise her voice, we're just drawn to her, and she says that exact perfect thing that annihilates you. She's so sexy, and Gomez is fucking addicted to her. Gomez cannot get enough of her. So I think a big thing with these women is not like, you know, 10 cinematic badass women who did the damn thing. It's a bit more these awakenings into like, I got this and I gotta be the one to do it. Like, only I can do it. And you know, what's what's major about I think a lot of these stories is Thelman Louise, you know, Susan Sarandon has Michael Madsen, who really like gets her. Beauty and the Beast, The Bell meets Beast, Clarice meets Hannibal. You know, that's complicated. Morticia has Gomez, Margot Kidder has Superman, um, Ripley has the alien. Um Furiosa has Max, has Tom Hardy, who's the hottest man alive, just being like, yeah, girl, you got this. I am going to lower my cap to you. Leo is so much about the inner circle, the audience, who sees you and why. Why are they why are these your people? Why are they understanding what you have to give the world? And I think a lot of Leos are like, I believe in myself. I'm just waiting to find the people who believe in me. So I think a big part of Jupiter and Leo is what is the gift you really have to share with the world? What is that? And it can be very, it doesn't need to be a loud declaration. You know, Ripley isn't like, I'm the final girl, I'm here to kill aliens. That's my brand. Ripley's like, I'm gonna do this. Like, I'm gonna fucking do this. So it's not only what is the gift that you're kind of coming into in a really beautiful, poised way, but who can affirm it? Who can see it and help you to realize it? I you know, I gotta say, I have just been through, I think any artist can relate to this or any creative person. Like, I've just put myself through so many of my cycles of like, I'm not an artist, I give up, fuck this, no, I want to do this, why can't I? Blah blah blah. And I I really I'm so lucky because there's a few people around who are just like, yeah, duh, who have really when I've had these sort of breakthroughs of like, no, I am a writer, I am an artist, I have these dreams, I want to do this, and they're like, Yeah, bitch, like we know, but there is that thing of like, she gets me, she sees me, he he is gonna be my superman, he is going to fucking lift me up if I want to take a leap, um, and take me flying. So we love that, you know. I do want to say it's interesting because the 1991 edition was we got backlash, the book by Susan Faludi, which was this kind of review of all the ways that women had been fucked in the culture of the 80s. I'm not saying that 2002 to 2003 was such a like lovely time for women either. It was such a cruel period. I think though that in understanding these backlash periods, the bat through the backlash, the leaders get to emerge. I don't want to be like, and everything is great if you're like a woman or um a trans person or a non-binary person or a queer person because there is a huge, huge backlash happening. You know, things are taking a swing in the other direction. But what Jupiter and Leo does is say, Leo is so much about like, I'm fucking sticking to my guns. I am Clary Starling, and there is a sense of like those who can hang on will arrive at that sense of not even grandeur, of elegance, you know, of dignity. Um like, no, I I got this, I'm not going anywhere, I'm gonna be here for the next round. You know, I have to say, the last time Jupiter was in Leo, the current president announced his candidacy. And when he announced it at that time, it was kind of a joke, and then it went cuckoo. Um I started a joke. Anyway, so there really will be a sense of the leaders will be rising, the new leaders are rising, good and bad. You know, those with the chutzpah and the delusion to start their own ridiculous movement, they can do it. Um, but I also think that means those who might have something to contribute uh for the good also can. Like this can happen. Um, we know Jupiter and Leo. We have a new album coming from the Leo Madonna. She this is not a coincidence. She knows what she's doing. Confessions to Jupiter and Leo. She knows she's gonna have a big year. But yeah, if you think about confessions too, it's Madonna saying, like, and then Madonna's gonna be doing the studio Julia Julia Garner, and it's Madonna saying, like, yeah, I've been here. Like, I'm being, you know, I'm not going anywhere. I know what I do, and I'm doing it. Um, there might be, you know, Charlie XX is Leo. There might be some backlash to her, but again, if you're a Charlie fan, I just did the Spotify thing where they tell you, like, you've been on Spotify for 15 years. Here's the person you've listened to the most, Charlie XCX. I'm like, I'll love her forever. The Leo Catherine Cohen, if you are in New York City, please go see her show at the Lucia Lortel Theater. Luca Guadagnino, who knows what he's gonna do, etc. But I'm just bringing up these sort of characters where it's like they're they ain't going anywhere. Like, they're ready. In terms of personal homework, I would definitely be curious what planets you have in Leo or in Aquarius in your chart and where the Leo Aquarius spectrum is, because I think there's gonna be a big dialogue around the world is changing, the world is ending, everything feels banal. What's the point? Why do I do anything? Two okay, something's coming online here, and I want to be seen here. Am I being seen here? Um, by the way, Lisa Coudro is a Leo. Valerie Cherish is a like that's Leo. I need to know that I'm being heard. Am I being heard? You know, Valerie Cherish just gave us this messianic journey of like, I have to stick to my fucking guns and do what I I'm here to do, no matter if the world is falling apart. And you know, she has that really beautiful moment with Juna where Juna's just like, Val, you've been good since the beginning. Have faith in yourself. And then Val is talking to Mark, and Mark is kind of like suicidally depressed, and Val says, like, you just gotta be positive, like, we just gotta hang on. Um, so yeah, I mean, what more do you need? In terms of personal homework, I would look at this the spectrum between star and leader, or attention seeking and genuine leadership. That is a very painful dissection to do. It's very hard for me at all times. All I want is fame and attention. I know that I think we're all entitled to affirmation. That is fair. And we are all entitled to shine. You know, it's I go through these spectrums of well, I must be rancid, I must be fame-hungry, I must be a lunatic, so I'm gonna go into total humility and live under a bridge. No, I need to shine, but where do I shine? Why? Doing what? Learning what? What can I learn that's going to help me not only you know uh express myself, but express myself in a way that feels, mmm, whoa, something's opening up. I can do something, I can collaborate, I can feel like a part of something. And yeah, what is the thing you do or have done that maybe it hasn't come into form yet, but know this is right for you. And like let's actually invest in it in a new way or take it to a new place. And yeah, I I think it's a really creative time to understand what you could be doing based on your personal God-given gifts for the world, not I need to move to an ashram, I need to um, you know, uh do Green Peace. You can do those things, those things are great, but maybe you have something specific to give to what's happening in the world. We cannot end this week without recognizing a high priestess and May 27th. I w I was about to mention the May 28th birthday of Kylie Minogue and also the great Mary Beth Barone, the comedian, but it's May 27th. We have to celebrate the legendary Gemini Lisa Left Eye Lopez. Um, Lisa Left Eye Lopez was the uh kind of I would say the heart, or really the mind. Let's say she was the brain of TLC. Um if you want to listen to one of the best albums of all time, put on crazy sexy cool, no skips. Uh Lisa Left Eye Lopez was a rapper and a singer, but she was also the she wrote the she was the lyricist, she designed costumes, she came up with the branding, she sang, she served, she did it all. Gemini's Gemini is the sign of hyperversatility. It is the discovery and experimentation with all of the little things you can do in all these certain ways. So that's kind of an interesting dialogue with Leo, which is so much this is who I am, this is who I do. Gemini also opens the door for possibility. And Lisa Lefty Lopez was that example of that Gemini who could say, I am all of it, and I can do all of it. Geminis are um verbose. Their god is Mercury, the messenger god. Lisa Lefty Lopez, I mean, who can rap like that? Um, there's a lot of great women Gemini rappers. Lisa Lefty Lopez is a legend. So um rest in peace forever and we celebrate you, left eye. I would love to hear what's going on for you now that Jupiter's wrapping up, it's time for in cancer, what this year has been like, what you're looking forward to in Jupiter and Leo.
